I'm surprised that I was able to find an Aloft hotel in Syracuse. When I saw it listed in Yelp, I knew it was my hotel choice. The Aloft hotel brand are all pretty much the same from Boston to Virginia. Their concept is simple, make the lobby stylish and the room layout contemporary. It makes for a totally choice stay. My check in was easy, I went to the front desk and showed my credentials. Once I was given my room key, I was chillin' like a villain with luxurious sheets and superior bath products. Did I mention free parking? Take that Boston! Keep it rockin Aloft!

I had a one night stay here for work. Aloft is a Marriott brand which I hadn't yet tried. There is a free parking lot across the street from the hotel. The lobby is a retro club/ radio vibe. There is a bar area, lounge and breakfast/ food area in the lobby. Check-in was east, staff is friendly. There is a small pool and a decent workout area also on the first floor. My room was on the second floor near the elevator but I had no issues with noise overnight. The room was clean and well laid out. Outlets and usb ports on each side of the bed. A decent workspace. Bathroom was clean and good water pressure. As far as location, the Destiny Mall is across the harbor. You can see it from the hotel. There are restaurants within 1-2 miles but nothing walkable. But that seems to be the norm for Syracuse.

In A Nutshell: -The Aloft here in Syracuse is in a good location. -Lot's of open fields surrounding the area plus the lake. -It's also about 1.5 miles from downtown which is good to get some steps in by walking. -The hotel itself has pretty spacious. -Check in & check out was easy. -They have a free shuttle service you just have to let the receptionist know where you want to go & reserve the time slot. -Ubers & Lyft drivers can also easily get to you. -The room was pretty big & the bed was very comfortable. -There is a bar in the lobby area, they guy who works there named Max is extremely nice, great guy. -If you need to do laundry, they have one coin-operated washer & one coin-operated dryer on the top floor, which is very convenient. Overall, I had a really nice stay & it's very close to the Syracuse airport, which was an added bonus.

Like most people, we haven't done much traveling this year except for day trip here and there. So, we were really looking forward to a quick overnight in Syracuse to visit some friends. I was using my Marriott credit card annual certificate for a complimentary one-night stay. We could have picked several other Marriott properties, but they all charged a $50-$75 fee for traveling with our dogs. So, we chose the Aloft as they are dog friendly and do not charge a separate fee. (bravo!) Nice room 2 queen beds. Small windows that actually open for fresh air. Bathroom/closet area strangely configured. All this empty space under the sink/countertop with a small refrigerator there. Great--except that the last guest's leftovers from Applebee's were still in there. Hmm, so that obviously wasn't cleaned. Wonder what else wasn't? Closet is opposite sink/countertop. You had better not be short, as it is elevated off the floor and you won't be able to reach the hangars. Small Mr. Coffee machine in alcove next to closet. Based on the refrigerator, no thanks. Cool modernistic sink, but easy to splash water everywhere. Pocket door to toilet and standup glass enclosed shower. One hook for towel/clothes, etc. Have to reach in to turn on water to warm it up, which means opening the door, which means water splashes on the floor. Oh, and the warm water? Never showed up the Sat. night we were there. I let if run (and splash while checking temp), run/splash, repeat. Finally gave up and took a very quick in and out cold shower. Go to bed--had requested 2 foam pillows via Bonvoy app the day before. Nope. 4 very soft feather pillows. Go to turn the lights off in the bedroom area? Have to get up and go to switch on the door, then stumble back in the dark. Need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night? Have to turn on bathroom light which illuminates the hallway/sink/toilet area too. Seriously, who planned this room? Oh, and the poor housekeepers have such a large cart that they cannot easily push it out of the supply room into the hallway without hitting a wall and maneuvering it around. Coffee/tea always available in lobby. Tried for some tea on Sat after dinner as the bar was not open. Water was lukewarm. Luckily there is a microwave in the kitchen area. Parking lot is free but across the street from the hotel. Very strange--front desk gives you paper to put on your dashboard that you are a guest. We parked on the well lit street. It was closer. The area is also quite desolate. There is nothing around to walk to where I would feel safe not knowing the area. Thank you for being dog friendly, but little issues=only 3 stars.

The rooms and hotel were clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. It was very close to downtown. Actually, within walking distance but it was raining. I'd stay again--everything you need. A downstairs breakfast bar is available.

Hotel decor was pretty spectacular, until you got up close and realized that much of the intricate scrollwork was not wood, but resin replacements molded on the few remaining wooden pieces left from the late 19th century. We had a sleeping room directly across the street from a huge, brilliantly illuminated museum sign that flashed all night long. The blackout curtains weren't. We tried one of the restaurants on the ground floor of the hotel, which was adequate but expensive. From that point on, we ate elsewhere, including at the fabulous restaurant and small business incubator across the street, and the wonderful Chinese restaurant about two miles away that also happened to serve dim sum. We were shipped two large packages while there, and the front desk staff was incredibly helpful in locating and providing those packages to us. Later, it came time for me to send out some parcels from those packages for folks who were no-shows at our conference, and once again, the front desk staff were incredibly helpful in providing some packing materials and boxes from their Receiving department for my use. As part of a larger conference, our small group had the use of one of the ground floor meeting rooms for an hour early on a Saturday morning. The hotel staff was very helpful in allowing us in an hour or so before our meeting was to begin to permit us to set up for our session.

The staff here was very helpful, accommodating, and easy to work with when booking the conference room. They were equally helpful when I arrived and needed access. The room had a TV in it as well as a large table and it was comfortable for the all day meeting we had. Regarding my staff, checking in was great. The folks at the front desk were friendly and helpful. They have an M Club here, which I visited a couple of times. I wanted bottled water, which they don't have in the M Club, rather you need to get it from the front desk. They use water refilling stations in the M Club, which I hate when staying in a hotel, I'd rather have the bottled water in the fridge in my room, so I'm glad they were able to accommodate me on this. The guy working the M Club both times I visited (in the evenings) was great, friendly too! The hotel itself is BEAUTIFUL! Honestly, I stay in hotels weekly and I'm pretty much done with the typical design of the average Marriott and this one breaks that mold! It's historic, beautifully renovated, perfectly operational, and centrally located. My room was very nice! They upgraded me to a suite and when they told me this during check in, I wasn't too impressed, as I hear that I'm "upgraded" all the time, but when I get to the room, they look typical. This room was HUGE! It had a living room, two king size bedrooms, and two full baths in it. The living room had a nice desk and plenty of seating for a family. There were also 3 TVs in this room. Bathrooms in the rooms were beautifully renovated to have a period look and they worked nicely. Housekeeping even did a nice job keeping everything polished in this room. Overall, I really enjoyed this stay. I'd most definitely return here in the future!

We got a king suite with a separate kitchen and sitting area, as we were not leaving our room much due to surgery. The room was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and there were a lot of pillows. You could have parked a Buick in the bathroom! We ended up being done with our medical appointments two day early. They were unable To refund our room (which they were not obligated to do anyway) but willingly gave us one free nights stay voucher. How wonderful is that! So accommodating and nice. The two staff ladies at the desk were so kind to us. This hotel has a "wall of fame" where you can see a few of the stars who have stayed there. It's in the heart of a city circle area where there are some shops and restaurants to walk to. Again, we were only able to leave for a bit (for our sanity) but it's location was perfect for a walk. We will definitely be back!

Corporate: stop what you're doing and give these guys a matching 401(k), company car, and a giant gold medal with a holiday to commemorate. Think about that feeling when your grandma's making you soup and you stayed home from school. That was the vibe. We were stranded in Syracuse after a looooong vacay that ended in Covid for all of us, kids included,---and when I say "kids" I mean a 5 & 8 -year-old who "just wanted to go hoooooooome", a.k.a. 3k miles away, after 2 weeks with our in-laws--u do the math. Could've been a hell on earth uation where we were ripping each other's heads off, but these people straight up kept us happy, fed, and didn't treat us like lepers despite the fact that we looked like hot garbage. They even drove us to the local pharmacy to get meds for the kids more than once. Not sure what people think about Hampton, but i used to think: dinky/ kitschy. FAKE NEWS YA'LL. We got better service and care here than I've had at any other resort around the world. These people genuinely cared about us, listened after we got bumped off 2 Flights and treated us like family. I would've had dinner w them. It wasn't just 1-2 people. It was literally everyone who worked there. On top of this we got free breakfast that actually tasted good. Biz services were legit and the team helped by printing things out correctly for me better than FedEx Kinko's does when it didn't work for me and I was under a tight deadline. They even chatted with me when I was about to lose my mind about work stuff. Who does that? You made a crappy situation into a warm, comfy hug of a stay when our kids were losing it and we were basically hallucinating elephants due to that awesome COVID fever.
