I was not expecting much from this hotel to start with, it was only booked because I just needed somewhere to sleep for a quick seven hour period after a concert in the area. I didn't even use the shower in the morning. I booked it through Priceline ($122 total) because it was the cheapest hotel that I could get that had a couple Ok reviews on Priceline. It is billed by Comfort Inn as a 2.5 star hotel, however, I would bill it as a 1.5 star hotel. It is very convenient to get to because it is right along route one and it is right off the PA Turnpike. So that was my other reason for booking was the convenience. Because it is along route 1 and it is next to a gas station, I felt it was slightly safer as a female traveler who was alone, than the other hotels that were tucked back in behind places. I was able to check into my room at 2 PM instead of 3 PM so that was a major plus for my schedule . The rooms as other people said are on the shabby side, clearly the hotel has not been updated since probably the early 2000's. The elevator did smell like weed upon check in, but it was working. The hotel only has two floors anyway. My hallway & room did not smell bad. No smoke odor in my own room. The lighting in the room is not very good. Dark & bland is how I describe the room itself. Tv worked & is Dish with like only 35 channels. I thought the bed would be uncomfortable but it was actually ok, a little soft. It did have 5 pillows so that was good. I am used to only having two terrible flat pillows in these very cheap hotels. There is definite noise from traffic all night long being along busy route 1. But the hotel itself was surprisingly quiet on a Saturday night . The staff was matter of fact, efficient, not at all rude, but not overly friendly either. They do place a $100 hold on your credit card for a one night stay. They let you pay cash instead & say they'll give cash back in morning. But they say be advised your $100 card hold can take 5 days to release. I think mine was released in less than 48 hours though. They have grab & go cooler with microwave dinners, sodas & ice cream bars. I paid $6.50 for a Dove bar & Diet Pepsi at night. There was a refrigerator in the room, which I was not expecting so that was a plus. I am not unconvinced there were not bugs in the room, but the bed looked & seemed clean, however, I do have an itchy patchy rash on my thigh after staying there. They do offer free breakfast in morning. I went to a great local diner instead. Sooo...if you expect more than 2 stars I advise not staying here. If you need somewhere just to sleep for a few hours, want easy on/off turnpike and you can get a price under $125 including the taxes and you do not mind a $100 hold on your credit card then this is the place for you. I typically give a situation the benefit of the doubt, so I've never written a review prior to now, yet I feel this is needed for the protection of others interested in staying here... Absolutely terrible condition and unsafe! Could never recommend. I felt the need to stay awake throughout the night due to the safety of my children. Hotel reeks of smoke. Smells terrible upon entering, which should have been our first indication to immediately leave, but we thought we'd give the lobby the benefit of the doubt. Our first room we couldn't even breathe, it was so bad, yet advertised online and signs inside posted that it's always smoke free, guaranteed. Not true, so we immediately went to the front desk. When asking for another room, the front desk woman did not seem surprised or upset, and asked a black man to try three different room numbers on an upper floor for us. He trekked my 3 young children and myself, (as my husband and daughter were using the lobby bathroom) up steps with all our luggage (no elevator, unless it was broken.) Not only was that difficult, I felt unsafe then too. When we got to the room, he opens the door for us, and every single light is on. Every one. He closes the door immediately and knocks saying, "front desk" a couple times, (wondering if someone is using the room?) When he then opens it for good, he says, "She did say room 205, didn't she?" He then jokes, when he sees our concern, that we better check under the beds to make sure no one is there! I couldn't believe what I heard, nor my now scared children. When I ask if we could check another room, he says he doesn't remember what the other numbers were. I tell him what those numbers are, but he just ignores me, says that this room is okay and leaves, without even giving us a room key. My husband and daughter arrive up to the room to say how dirty the first floor bathroom is, and after we tell my son to begin taking a shower, he's scared to because the tub was clearly recently used, water in the shower is also running. Light fixtures aren't there to cover the bright bulbs. Sticky floor. Bad ceiling panel in the shower. Chipped bathtub. Ventilation terrible so condensation everywhere when someone used the shower. None of us desired to shower, it wasn't even close to pleasant. The room began smelling like smoke after we were in it just a bit. We all noticed it, yet the family member with allergies felt it bad with headaches, eye irritation, and difficulty breathing. After the long day traveling, and early morning ahead, two of our four children were already asleep, otherwise we would have left immediately. Then we notice the broken door! The dead bolt was in tact, however the above extra lock completely missing and the door not secure ...terribly loose, the frame broken, and so much space to jiggle/move even when locked. My husband needed to sleep for an important work engagement, so I stayed awake all night to make sure we were safe. Worst night ever. No one should ever feel this way in a hotel. There was a loud door opening and closing all throughout the night next to us. Absolutely terrible, and all I could think about is trafficking is most likely taking place. And more reason why I didn't sleep (and wish we would have left initially, upon our arrival.) The room phone did not work. The curtain was not secured to the window. My children felt unsafe, why did we even stay? I'm regretting our choice and how it impacted my entire family. My son woke up and said there was a big bug in his bed. We consoled him as not to scare him or the others, but after now reading previous reviews, it could have been a roach. With the lack of cleanliness of the room, I'd totally believe it. The internet kept cutting in and out for my husband, which was needed for his job. We were upset a Bible was not in our nightstand drawer either, yet that was the minor thing surrounding everything else. Things kept presenting themselves throughout our stay that would have steered us clear in the first place, if we would have known, and I'm regretting not pushing further to just have left from the get go, even though we wouldn't have been refunded. We truly should have. No one should stay in this type of condition and especially fear for their safety. Needless to say, we did not stay for our free breakfast in the morning. If the rest of this place is this bad and unsafe, we were all scared to attempt breakfast as well. Do not stay here. It's not worth it. At all. read more

It's getting dark early during January and one must try to check in before sun goes down as it's very difficult to find this hotel with lots of traffic due to ongoing construction for last few years. I had stayed here before and things have been going down . Parking the car to check in required very keen understanding as there is quick entrance on left with no guide post to alert you and if you miss the entrance then it will take your GPS system to respond calibration while you are now almost on highway. Tricky entrance. Front desk person was cordial and gave me lower level room as elevator was down . Room was clean and did not find problems but Phone was not operating !! Wire was off I plugged it in but phone didn't have dial tone. Since I carry two iPhones I can always call front desk ?? Further no breakfast even though some other Brands give it but Choice hotels properties don't . We came to this hotel at 2 AM at night expecting a nice experience at this hotel. As soon as we enter the doors, we were promised a 100% smoke-free hotel. I entered the lobby and said to my siblings "this looks nice" there were science saying that it was 100% smoke-free. But as soon as we entered the room the air was so full of smoke that it was very hard to breathe. we told the front desk about this and they did not even seem surprised that our room was full of smoke in a quote 100% smoke-free hotel". they gave us a new room and one of the employees walked us up to our room only to insert the card and try to open the door multiple times without finally getting it. Whenever he finally finally did open the door every single light was on. He closed the door immediately knocked on the door and asked if anyone's there, then let us in our room. when we entered our room, he said it's not likely for all the lights to be on. Then he told us we better check under the bed. I know he was joking by this, but come on that's not really the thing you wanna hear when entering a hotel room. we realize how dirty our room was and definitely would've got a refund but we got it off of Priceline so it was too late. Room was so messy there, was blood on the pillow, and definitely would've left if my siblings were not asleep already. I decided to try and make the best of it so I went in the bathroom to take a shower. Bathroom was really messy, and was obviously recently used. Shower was very messy. After I finished my shower, I went outside of the bathroom and I was starting to smell smoke coming but at this point, I wasn't very surprised. I was paranoid all night that someone was going to break into our room, or if trafficking was going on in this area. My mom was a whole lot worse and didn't sleep all night. In the morning there was free breakfast, but being as how bad this hotel was already we just decided to skip breakfast. For your own safety, please do not stay here. So staying in this hotel was not the most pleasant experience hotel staff are rude place needs a wrecking ball not a renovation right on the highway very noisy whatever the cleaning product that is used smells to high heaven. The carpet is threadbare in areas the furniture is nicked and dinged there's scratches and dings in the wall peeling paint and rust stains around the tub. Stayed for just one night with my brother who is disabled. I asked for a first floor room since he is a smoker and would be going out front to smoke a few times during the day, just to make it easier for him to come back and forth to the room. Room was ok. Microwave, small fridge, desk and swivel chair, another single chair with an ottoman, small coffee maker with tea bags, coffee pods, packs of sugar and dry creamer. Everything was in working order. There was traffic noise, but what do you expect, you're on a major highway. Breakfast was good. Sausage, cheese eggs, hot and cold cereal, waffles you can make yourself, juice, coffee, tea etc. Friendly staff. It's not the best place I have stayed at, and it's not the worst. Only issue I had was when I wanted to charge my phone that had 45% charge left. It was plugged in ALL NIGHT(7 HOURS) and only charged up to 87%. The worst. Bathroom was Small and dark, with a cigarette stain on the tub. The carpeting in the bedroom had huge holes. The room smelled like cigarette smoke. adjacent to a very busy highway. I felt like I was sleeping on a runway. The telephones didn't work, The Door locking mechanism was very sensitive, we had to insert the card several times every time we tried to open the door. Although the hotel is quite dated and could use some serious updating, my family of 3 had a pleasant overnight stay. The room was clean and quiet, everything worked as it should, and it served its purpose. Breakfast options were minimum at the time. We stayed overnight to make our drive to Sesame the next day a breeze and had a great time. The man who greeted us at the front desk was pleasant, and even gave us the option of what floor we preferred to stay on. Overall, we had a good stay. read more

The nastiest, low budget place I've ever been. First, the front desk clerks obviously didn't want to do their job. Upon arrival, my family and I noticed that the pool wasn't open. This was a problem because before booking I had call to ask if the pool will be available, and they had told me that it would be. This was the last summer vacation I was taking my kids on, and I wanted to make it enjoyable for them. Because of this, (and since we were there earlier than our check-in time) I had asked them to cancel my rooms. The clerks said they wouldn't be able to since we booked online through Expedia. So I called Expedia and explained my situation. Although I booked on Expedia, they stated that they couldn't do anything for us because it was the Comfort Inn's responsibility now. So back inside I went to talk with the front desk clerks, and now they gave me the run around. At first they said that they would get the manager so I waited only to find out 10 minutes later that the manager was never there and wouldn't be there until Monday morning. Then I told them that I spoke with Expedia, and they said that the cancellation is possible, but it would have to be done by them at Comfort Inn. Well, Comfort Inn refused to cancel our rooms. After several hours later of speaking with the manager on the phone and talking with Comfort Inn's customer service, everyone just said they don't have a problem with the cancellation, but it would have to be done by the front desk clerks, and they weren't complying with the agreement. I don't know what we did to tick these girls off, but they were having a bad day and looks like they took it out on us. There was literally no pool, no playground, or any kid friendly things to do in the area. Eventually we found a park in the area for the kids to play in. It didn't look the safest, but that's another story. Finally, after finding a place to eat, we decided to make the best of the night until we head out to Sesame Place the next morning. However, the night had just begun. After putting us in our rooms with their evil smirks, we came upon the most filthiest rooms on the third floor we've ever seen. The air was off in the hallways as well as the rooms so everything was very muggy and stunk badly. Then, after entering the room, I noticed a urine smell lingering. I immediately looked in the bathroom, and their toilet was filthy with stains running down them. Disgusting!!! However, that wasn't the worst of it all. We continued to proceed in the room. When I went to turn on the air conditioning I came upon a USED CONDOM! I was horrified and upset! Immediately I told the kids to stay away because I saw a bug, however, I just didn't want them to see the disgusting condom on the floor near the air conditioning. We instantly went downstairs to get our rooms changed. They finally put us on the first floor, and after entering those rooms we noticed a BIG difference. The smell was a lot cleaner, and the air was clear. The air conditioning was turned on, and there weren't any urine stains in the toilets. However, there still was a big glop of mucus on the carpet near the television. I can't help but think that they put us in the first rooms out of spite. Again, I don't know what we did to these girls to make them so angry with us, but I don't regret my decision of canceling. I wish they would have let us cancel because there was nothing nice about that hotel. Everything was disgusting. Even their breakfast was gross. Their yogurt was expired, their eggs weren't fully cooked, and their bacon tasted fake and cold. This was our worst hotel experience ever! We made up for it the next day at Sesame Place. The kids forgot all about the night before, and couldn't stop talking about our experience at Sesame Place. You would think, for a hotel that's near Sesame Place they would be more kid friendly and clean, but it was the total opposite. Never again! We were traveling and needed a place to rest. Usually we have found comfort inns to be pretty clean and with good mattresses. When we entered the lobby was very nice and clean. We checked in and proceeded to the elevator. The elevator was filthy, but we were tired and proceeded to our room. The hallway carpet looked in need of replacement. We entered the room -the carpet in there was the little square pieces that peel and stick- not attractive but we just wanted a good nights rest. We were in bed when I noticed a roach climb up the wall. We tried closing our eyes and sleeping which worked until 3:00 am. The walls are paper thin and the neighbor started cursing his head off -every other word was "fuck". My husband went back to sleep after the tirade, I couldn't. When we got ready to leave in the morning a bed bug was walking on the table. One messed up dump to be avoided! read more

I have stayed in several Choice Family hotels & been pleased - the reason that, over objections, we asked to be booked into this hotel for amquick family trip. Had the room not have been paid for by our hosts & our stay only 1 nite, we surely would have checked out immediately, The lobby and all hallways reek of cigarette smoke. The carpet in the hallways is filthy, but compared to the carpet in our room, which looked looked as if it had never been vacuumed or cleaned, the hallway was good. The bathroom floor in our room was sticky & also looked dirty. The sheets were stained. The grass in front of the hotel was unmowed and full of weeds, and the walkways had weeds growing as well. We stayed at the Comfort Inn while visiting La Salle University, where I'll be attending in the fall. It was half an hour from the university, but almost an hour to center city. The location is horrible, it's on a highway in a rural area. There are a few stores & restaurants nearby, but they're spread out. We had two issues: The bathroom smelled horrible at first, but the manager sprayed it for us. The air conditioning & heat were on/off all night, and the AC would fall off the wall, unless touched a certain way. Besides this, it's a clean hotel, and free breakfast was good. read more

I picked this hotel because of the close proximity to sesame place and because of the reasonable price for the holiday weekend. When we first walked into the room everything seemed fine until I started to really inspect the place. There were multiple stains on the walls. The chairs lounge chair was covered in black soot that appeared to be ashes. But his is supposed to be a smoke free hotel? Yea right. It was late when we arrived due to the fact that we were at the park all day and we were exhausted. I went into the bathroom where again there were multiple stains on the walls and the tub was disgusting !! It was covered in nasty moldy soap scum, I had to request cleaner from downstairs just to give my kid a bath!! Then I opened a brand new pair on slippers after walking around in the room there was nothing but dirt and someone's nasty ass hair all over the floor and was stuck to the bottom of our feet! When I alerted the front desk staff in the morning they apologized but said there was nothing I could do but to alert the manager on Tuesday when he came back. Like really ?? Then to top it off when the maid service came the next day I told her to really clean the room and the areas that needed to be cleaned the most, when we returned they changed our fu**ing locks and we had to get new keys!! Like if we left all of our stuff why would you change the locks?! If I hadn't of purchased this room through booking.com at the low non-refundable rate I would of marched straight out of there and checked into the Raddison down the block! This place is disgusting and needs to be shut down. The staff doesn't care and none of your complaints will be taken seriously and good luck ever finding a manager. Will update this review after I supposedly speak with this so called manager on Tuesday. Please families with kids stay away from here not worth it, next time I'll pay the $400+ to be safe, comfortable and CLEAN!!!!!!! Also the headboard had this nasty grease film and drip stains ugh. So the Choice rewards are a gimmick. I reached out to them to ask why we haven't received any rewards or free nights since we have been staying at this hotel for 24days. Their MAKE NO SENSE excuse was "We paid through a third party so we can't get points", even though the so called third party asked for our Choice Rewards number and used it to discount our stay each time we booked. We booked 5 days at a time and this last time we booked for 6 days. You would think that having someone stay at your establishment for such a lengthy time and spend $300 or more each time, you'd be willing to do what was needed to make sure they stay often and make sure they know you appreciate their business. We don't ask for room service from housekeeping and we are quiet working people. The only time we go to the front desk is to get new room keys because the key deactivates twice a day sometimes. The second reason we go to the front desk is to pay for our next stay. Other than that we are quiet clean and hassle free. I am only giving 3 stars because the size of the room is what we needed and we have been able to keep the same room and they provide hot full breakfast each morning. The elevator smells fresh and when people aren't smoking in their rooms the hallways smell fresh also. Yes it's a smoke free hotel but you smell strong marijuana by the room at the back exit on the first floor and cigarette smoke by the middle room on the second floor by the end we paid to stay in. The worst hotel experience ever. The hotel is run down, dirty & not well kept. The breakfast room had puddles of water all over the floor, food on the floors, dirty tables as if the employees hadn't cleaned at all. The food choices are: waffles, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, yogurt, 2 diff types of donuts. The coffee was rarely made & usually empty. The hotel smelled dirty, the doors & hallways were all dirty & stained. The rooms were "ok" aside from the dirt in the bathroom. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. No complaints on the actual beds. There were kids running up & down the hallways until 11PM which really sucked cause the walls were super thin & we could hear everything inside our room. There were dogs barking through the night as well. The pictures listed are NOT actual pics of the hotel you'll be staying in. The pool is outside in the "parking" area. Where anyone could watch you swim or look at you & the pool is super small kind of like a pop up pool. Parking - there isn't any. They tell you to park anywhere but there's no actual parking lot and no cameras watching over the cars. The area itself is seedy, it's 30 mins outside of south philly. Which was the only reason we chose this hotel. After checking in we immediately regretted it & wish we hadn't booked our nights here. All in all, don't stay here save your money!! read more

This is supposed to be a smoke free hotel, but smoke was the first thing I smelled when I walked in. The paint was chipped in our room. Our room door was broken. I had to get multiple keys (at least 8 no exaggeration). The night time front desk girl did not want to be bothered with doing her job. I work the front desk at a hotel and if I acted that way I wouldn't have a job! It was just a terrible experience. For the amount I was charged, I expected way more. P.S. AVOID THIS SCAM AT ALL COSTS. During a statewide weather emergency my elderly parents and I booked 2 rooms for one night, with the option of a second night if our power was still out the next day. We did check out at 9am after only 1 night but the hotel mgr who used different aliases during our stay, "Hansa Patel" or "Ash Shaw" refused to refund the second night's charges for the 2 rooms because our reservation came in on an Expedia Affiliated Network telephone line which I knew nothing about. The manager had assured us at check in that we would not have to pay for the 2nd night if we didn't need it. When I called the Expedia Affiliated Network #, they referred me back to the Comfort Inn. This hotel is in need of some severe cleaning. Everywhere from the front door to the room was dirty and in disrepair. There was graffiti on trash cans outside and in the hallway of the 3rd floor. The front overhang looks as if it's getting ready to fall. The room also subpar. Just very disappointed with everything here. I can't believe the brand would allow this. It really makes me question their quality standards. If it wasn't 10PM a when I arrived and my reservation was already made, there is absolutely no way I would have stayed here. read more

Tried to save some money on hotel costs while visiting family in PA and making a trip to Sesame Place. What a mistake!!! I only have a minute- but no washing machine or dryer which was strange considering they advertised as a good hotel to visit Sesame Place... which has quite a water park. So we went day two with damp towels. The second issue which was worse... smelled heavily of marijuana. In our room. Carrying in two sleeping kids into a room that smelled so bad was infuriating. I brought it to the front desk's attention. She was apologetic, but did nothing to get rid of the smell. Supposedly she was going to find the source, but since we got a new surge about 2 am, I'm guessing she didn't. Most places would do something to comp you in this situations I think. Not here. I even asked for a refund. She just smiled. How happy would she be paying full price to put her babies to sleep in a room smelling heavily of marijuana. Hmmm... somehow I think that wouldn't fly. Best part? It was more expensive that night! Will not be back. I've learned my lesson. read more

Currently staying here due to snow storm. A lot of loud commotion and the desk staff are of no help.

When we first checked in we had a slight problem due to issues within the room..(Fridgerator not working, phone not working...) They changed our room, without any hassle and very polite and apologetic) We dealt with the manager Jay, whom may I add is a VERY polite, genuine, and understanding person! Due to the little problem/incident we had, Jay took care of us right away with no hassle and gave us a free night! He was extremely professional and courteous, to my Husband and I. We would most DEFINITELY stay here again and recommend the hotel to anyone! Love this place and the breakfast is delicious, fresh, and plentiful!! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. First of all, the same man works the desk every single day. Checked in at 7pm, come out at 10am, still there. Come back at 7pm, same man. Wouldn't be so bad if he didn't spend his time arguing with every customer he comes into contact with. When we walked in, he was on the phone arguing with someone. They wanted to switch rooms for whatever reason and he wouldn't allow it. He would also have to 'inspect' the room they were already in to 'make sure they hadn't touched the beds'. the next morning he was full on yelling at a customer at the front desk in front of the whole breakfast crowd. How unprofessional. When mentioned there was a truck parked in a handicapped spot without a playcard (illegal) he then argued that it wasn't and that it was his truck AND he had another car parked in another handicapped spot. This guy needs to not be in the customer service business. Now let's get to the room. It smells. Everything is damp. EVERYTHING. You have to use all your strength to be able to open and close your room doors. There's holes in the walls. The toilet paper is like tissue paper. The water pressure is terrible. There are only two places 'allowed' to deliver there. This crappy pizza place and a Chinese food place I'm not going to bother to eat. Stay far far away from this place. read more

Good hotel with an outdoor pool and daily continental breakfast. The breakfast was tasty and had a nice variety to choose from. My double bed room was just right equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. Rooms are clean and bathroom was too. Staff were friendly and made myself and family feel welcomed. There's also a gym on -site which I didn't get to use but am sure is just as great. Not a bad hotel at all for the price paid. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting. We got stuck here for a soccer tournament so we didn't get to choose our hotel. Our room smelled terrible and I had to air it out for hours. Then we couldn't get the window closed. (Finally was able to with help from others.) There was brown dirt all over the stucco walls. It is a no-smoking hotel but that didn't keep people from smoking pot right outside the side doors. The "pool" is a concrete hole in the ground surrounded by a chain link fence and located smack dab in the middle of the parking lot. The staff members are completely unprofessional. If people complained, one member repeatedly told people they weren't staying at the Ritz. The staff obviously had no dress code. They were wearing random t-shirts and sweatpants. The card to get into my room worked only once out of every five swipes. Other members in our group had similar issues. One wasn't able to close her window at all (on the first floor) and had to switch hotels because there weren't any other rooms available, and the hotel still charged her for the room. Another family got locked out of their hotel (with all of their stuff inside) for over an hour while the maintenance people tried to get in. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!! read more

Stayed here for the weekend. The toilet in our room didn't work. The toilet in the lobby was out of order all weekend. Despite repeated requests to have our toilet fixed, it was not fixed. Hotel denies I made a report even though I saw the clerk write it down in the book. I then called Choice Hotels directly to file a complaint. They said that the front desk staff was rude and hung up on them when they inquired about what happened and they were sorry. Needless to say, this is a terrible place to stay with horrible rooms, horrible customer relations and basically just a terrible place to stay. If I could give negative stars, I would. read more

Ok it's not a "5 star" hotel, but I'm giving it 5 stars because they were great. The rooms are a little bit old looking, but so what? They had a microwave, and a refrigerator, and the room was clean. The staff was AWESOME. They were sooo nice. We stayed for 2.5 days. (checked in Thursday, checked out Saturday). The only issue I had was the carpet cleaner that they use. I get migraines easily and the cleaners are very strong. But I asked the lady not to vacuum the room and she honored my request. I just put the A/C on and the cleaner smell went away shortly after. Asking room service to wait to clean the room is important to us. That shows excellent customer service. Breakfast was also great. Very unexpected. I was thinking it would be all bagels and muffins, but I ended up having fresh eggs and bacon, yogurt, coffee and juice. My friend made the waffles with the waffle machine they had. They also had the regular muffins, etc. The price and location were also great. I am planning on going back to PA in the next six months and told the front desk I am definitely coming back. read more
