I had an unexpected stay in December as I was driving through WV during a snow storm. My Oura ring came off on the outside the door as I assume I was removing my gloves. I had no idea where it had come off during my travels. I want to nominate F. Layton for employee of the year. She found it in the ice and slush and took the effort to contact Oura to track down the owner. Oura did contact me based on the serial number and I thought the email was a scam, somehow. Dirty linens!! Five stars for Frankie (I think that was his name, dark hair) We needed a hotel for one night before our Airbnb was available in another town. There weren't many options in the area. Basic motel. Reason for lower rating - The bed sheets didn't look clean or as if the sheets had been changed. Seriously was freaking out about having my family sleeping in the beds. One of the pillowcases looked like the floor had been cleaned with it. Wish I had taken a pic of it. It was covered in dirt. Sheets had stains. We called front desk and Frankie quickly brought us clean pillowcases, he apologized and told us that while the linens may be old they were clean. He was very kind and friendly and quickly gave us fresh pillowcases. We said a prayer over our beds and slept well...We were really tired, though so there's that. Checkout was a breeze. The employee with the dreadlocks was very friendly. Five stars for the friendly employees! One star for the linens and questionable condition of whether the room was really clean. read more

A very simple hotel, but comfy beds and air conditioning :) People at front desk very kind and maids are fast. Super place to stop on a road trip. Reservation 9 days. Checked in Sept 26. Unpacked, brought clothes 9 days , water , drinks. There short time NO Hot Water. Went to front desk. They new about problem They said fixed in morning. Next day not nly no Hot Water but air in lines. Black soot color water company ng out of drains. Water also keep going off. Talked to front desk again.No show from plumbers. They gave us key to another room. In nightgown out in haul. Shampoo, everything needed. Guess what! Room had no water. .....by this time you overheard employee saying pipes rusty leaking. Explained black sooty water...GM very nice came up to let us in another room. Water lasted 5 minutes..No water. Then found out water issue on all floor. She called new owners. Waited until 1:30 to take a wash up at sink . Water came on few minutes at a time. Filled up coffee cups with gray water to clean up. The crappy water turned my blond hair very brassy. Yuck...... Left room at 1:20. Still no plumber. Told them I did not want to pay for this. From Ohio Major Health Code to serve or keep open any kind Of food service no water. No way for staff to clean hands, or have safe water to prepare food. Did not eat there Major Health Rules violated. Also Shoneys gas station out of business. Drug addict around whole area. Drive up there road is terrible. Spent day looking for new Place to stay. After almost 20 hours water working. We were asked to give them another chance. We left them losing 8 days of reservation .The owners refused to refund us on stay from Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!. I called Health Dept to file complaint for them operating with no water. Next call Comfort Inn Corporation. Also booking . Com for advertising them. We had to repack 7 days of clothes and everything to get the Hell out of there. Also did not go out and get bottle water for those of us there. New Owners refused refund. The sheets pillow cases everything brown and grey dingy. The little water that came out of faucet was black due to air in lines. Surprise I have a brain Tumour other major health issues. I got the Joy of paying 115.00 for what. Bed so bad and dirty looking they had maids come up and changed nasty comforter. Whole place needs severe make over. In 41 years of marriage this 45 days of vacation this year worst experience every. Does the job. Good value for us for the price ($104 with taxes on a busy fall weekend) since we came to visit and walk under the New River Bridge which was only a 5 minute drive. Room and bathroom was neat and clean. Bed was a bit soft but comfortable enough for a short stay. Breakfast consisted of hot oatmeal, waffles (make yourself but helpful attendant is there if you need) and various donuts, juice etc. There is a shopping center within walking distance with a Kroger, a Mexican restaurant and other stores. Not sure why there was HUGE, stadium-like floodlights in the parking lot that were on all night--maybe high crime area. lol. We would stay here again. read more

Had this been a normal weekend I think they would have fit the simple expectations of a bed to lay on after a long day of rafting. We went with Comfort Inn because the reviews were a bit better than other chain hotels nearby and the location was very easy. My issue is it was priced higher than competitors and there is no way it was actually better. Just bare bones, old air conditioner unit, poorly lit hallways, only cold breakfast items one of the days, coffee and water in the lobby were not kept full, the water was actually empty Friday-Sunday. The huge issue is there was a scheduled power outage, SCHEDULED, and we were not notified before our stay when we could have done something like switch hotels. Not only did we find out last minute, the front desk employee didn't even mention it, we read the sign so learned it when checking in. We were not offered flashlights when the power was scheduled to be out, the stairways we had to use were completely dark until we propped a door open to get natural light. Just a huge safety issue waiting to happen. I wouldn't stay here again, very frustrated. read more

Clean, quiet when we stayed there, however, you could hear your neighbors occasionally in the rooms. They tuck the bed pillows into a square and if you've never seen that before you may not realize you need to open the pillowcase to get your pillows to expand to their full size. I should note that this place was smack-dab in the middle of being renovated, so it will be even better when it's finished. We stayed here because it's very close to where we went white water rafting. Check-in was friendly and the room was nice. Bed was very comfy, and the room was clean with nice amenities. This hotel is perfect for a family to stay. Safe, clean and pleasent. Check in and check out was a breeze. Very close(5 minutes drivr) to River expeditions company that provides white water rafting. I checked into a big, clean, fresh smelling room with two queen bed. Bed was comfortable, big clean bathroom, but the Coffee fee machine was tired and old. Did not feel Like using the machine. Dirty, dirty, dirty! Major disappointment. In addition to being greeting by the front desk employee who was filthy! Dirty hair, hands, barefoot and her uniform top was filthy! In the room, the carpet was dirty & stained, the chair was covered with dust at the top and at the back of the arm rests, otterman was also dirty. The beds were not nicely made, but the sheets were clean. After a long day of driving, we showered & just wanted to sleep. We quickly realized the AC was broken, only worked on FAN. We barely slept and checked out. No way was I eating food from here. After talking to another person at the front desk, she said she was only able to give a 30% discount. This hotel is downright horrible. The house keepers do not know how to do their jobs. They only made ONE OF TWO BEDS BECAUSE WE LEFT A BLANKET ON IT. Also, they changed the trashcans, but did not grab the trash off the desk!! The lady who ran the front desk was also rude and could not give a reason why the pool was closed. I saw her outside too with a bunch of junkies. Explains why, right? The housekeepers also got water all over the bathroom floor! They better not have showered in OUR ROOM! This hotel has a 1980s feel and looks grungy on the outside, but the rooms are nice, the location is incredible, the pool is nice for swimming, and the price is right. Do not be fooled by the grimy lobby and retro, tacky look outside: the rooms are simple but spotless. The hotel feels like it is an oven in the hallway, but the air conditioning in the room plunges your sleeping space to arctic temperatures, which I consider a plus because I enjoy sleeping in cold rooms. The breakfast isn't gourmet, but it's free, filling, and the coffee is decent, aka everything you need to prep you for a day on the river. The location is also tops and why it gets 4 stars. I have been visiting WV for years and have never stayed anywhere more convenient. The rec spots and downtown are all less than 10 miles away and the hotel is right off the highway, so it's easy to traverse, which is important in WV where your GPS is bound to shit out due to the rural area and lack of cell towers. I also enjoyed the pool, which lacked kids and was warm enough to swim in when it was 80 degrees outside. Overall, not a luxury hotel, but convenient, clean, and affordable, which is perfect for a low key trip to WV. read more

I enjoyed my 3 night stay at this location. The front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Our room and lobby were very clean and maintained. The price is reasonable for what we received. Breakfast in the morning was good. Not great but good. The eggs and sausage could have been a little warmer. Great selection of eats during breakfast made it worth while. The breakfast area was well kept as the morning went on. Kudos to this location for a very fine experience.
