I Think I made this really easy for your. Even if you don't take the time to read this full review - please look at the pictures. I think you can draw your own conclusions from them. But if you are really considering this hotel - read on! If I could give them ZERO Stars I would. Where to start... 90% of the hotel is "Out of Order" Everything from the Lounge, to the Pool, Jacuzzi, ATM, Elevator, and the crowing achievement - the Internet.... ALL OUT OF ORDER. There is mold and mildew in the shower and on the shower curtain. There are small flys coming from the drains....The black out curtains are held together with clear packaging tape....and the sheers rip when you touch them due to being old and bleached out from the sun. The wall paper is peeling off the walls. Their "Breakfast Buffet" consists of powdered eggs, microwaved potatoes, microwaved "mystery meat sausage", white bread, and gravy that looks and tastes more like glue. They don't refrigerate their Cream cheese and the person in charge of the desk is the same one responsible for the buffet. Their small cleaning staff is the ONLY bright spot in this hotel... and from what we could tell - they were extremely overworked...but they did the best job they could putting "lipstick on this pig!". For those of you who have any sense of morality or sense of pride in their country - their flag out front looks like it has been up since the civil war - bleached and torn. When we advised them how awful it looked and even offered to replace it for free - and they were insulted. When we asked to speak to their manager - we were asked to wait - and then when the manager came in for the day (at 1030) - she immediately left totally ignoring our request to speak to her and walked right by. This can only lead us to think that their manager is unprofessional and shows no concern for your stay at all. STAY AWAY. A night in your car is better than staying here. This place gives West Virginia a Bad name!! The rating that this hotel "Deserves" is "condemned" and the best way to "improve" it would be with a wrecking ball! IF you are looking at this hotel - please consider driving to Beckley - Best Western, Marriott, Many others... It may cost you more money - but trust me - you will be treated better, have healthier food and surroundings, be happier, and much better rested!! Safe travels!! read more

If I could give it a zero I would. We get to the hotel at check had to wait for ten minutes for someone to come to the counter. There is a sign to say attendant stepped away and to dial 0 for assistance. But there was no phone No Wi-Fi No Pool Elevator was out of order First room I was in the air did not work. So they did change my room easily. Front desk staff was really nice. Poor lady heard about how horrible the lace was from every customer. The next room air worked. And hotel was quiet. Next morning the breakfast looked dismal. So I passed. read more

Super friendly staff and very helpful - they allowed us to and helped us find an outlet to plug power into our trailer overnight. We stayed in the hotel and one thing that drives me nuts is the half size pillows which they had. Also all the doors are a PIA to open which sucks when it's 19 and below out! Even our room door was finicky. I didn't sleep well as parts of me kept going numb from the discomfort of the mattress I think. Also the continental breakfast is pretty sad and they use some non name brand cereals so they tasted super funky, I chose to wait until we ended up at a gas station for food instead... Also they keep the entire hotel at 59 degrees so it's absolutely frigid leaving your room. I can't imagine trying to make it back from the pool or hot tub! read more

The lady at the check-in counter literally exploded at a guest checking in. Person was checking in and explained VERY CLEARLY that she had knee problems and requested a room on the first floor since the ONLY elevator in the hotel was broken. The front desk lady gives her a room on the first floor, but doesn't say until after she hands her the keys that the first floor isn't the ground floor--the second floor of the hotel is where the exit actually is. Well the guest then asks for a room on the second floor, and this lady gets PISSED and yells "THERE'S TOO MUCH GOING ON" and basically refused to even check if there were any available rooms on the second floor. I was standing in the lobby when this happened and clearly understood the guest's request without any issues so I don't get why front desk exploded... Also the hotel is so CREEPY. It's huge, but old, with weird rooms and old furniture everywhere. When we went, both the elevator and hot tub were broken. read more

Staff here were outstanding. We were stuck with car troubles over a long holiday weekend and everyone was especially nice. The hotel itself is very dated and does not look like it has received much TLC over the past couple of decades. It has a very 80's feel to it and the decor matches the feeling. The beds are not very comfortable, but not terrible. The indoor pool is nice, but again, it is very old, with many ceiling tiles stained or missing. In addition, due to staffing shortages, their in hotel restaurant and bar was closed down while we were visiting, but they did offer to go breakfast. All in all, not a destination hotel, but the staff is friendly and the amenities are not terrible. read more

I was expecting worse after reading reviews on Yelp and other websites. The hotel is certainly on the older side, but the room was clean enough that I felt comfortable staying and not asking for a new room. I searched high and low for bugs when we first arrived and saw nothing. Thank God! Room 119, by the way. It was on the end of the hallway by the stairs and door B. The room, upon entry, did have a musty smell that some reviews mentioned. This is probably an A/C issue, and should be remedied by a scheduled cleaning by maintenance workers. The shower/bathtub was ok but the hot water was completely lacking at the end of a very long day so that was not enjoyable by any stretch. There was a very petite coffee/tea maker in the bathroom which I didn't use but appreciated its presence. The bed was ok but probably not suitable for picky or sensitive sleepers. The breakfast buffet was a bit on the simple and bland side, but I appreciated having a place to eat at 5AM since I had a very early report time. I will say that the hash browns rocked my world and I ate two every morning. All staff I encountered were friendly. The one staff that I didn't encounter, the housekeeper, did unfortunately leave our door cracked open from the time she cleaned until we got back to the hotel at 10PM. So, we were a bit miffed about that, understandably. I did not have any chance to swim, use the gym, or use the game room as they closed before I was ever back at the hotel. Bummer. In closing, this place is adequate as Bob D. mentions. If you have the funds for higher end lodgings, then certainly seek those out but if you are stretching your hard earned dollar$, then this hotel will hopefully be ok. read more

Some good, but mostly bad. The owner is clearly not throwing money into the upkeep as EVERYTHING was broken. All but two of the games in the Game Room were out-of-order. The pool had not been cleaned and had visible dirt sitting at the bottom. Hot tub was out of order and the ceiling appears to be caving in from a roof leak that is still leaking. The elevators were out of order so they could not give us the room we requested that would have included a fold out couch bed, rather we got a king room and had to request a fold out bed, of which they charged us for. The breakfast is just a simple spread, nothing fancy and minimal options. The staff, other patrons, and the adjacent bar was the highlight of the stay. The bar does allow smoking indoors, but was actually clean, well-stocked, and the food was pretty good. Falls below its potential. read more

TERRIBLE Holiday Lodge Hotel experience..... This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in!!! The room was super damp, and musty. The Kids wanted to go swimming but the pool looked green and dirty so I wouldn't let them. I woke up in the middle of the night to slug crawling on the table on our stuff and my allergies going nuts including my lips swelling, the next morning I go to take a shower and the drain was so nasty I couldn't imagine getting in there. They put hold on your card so the options of going to another hotel was out. I asked for a different room, while waiting I got a phone call from my daughter saying the smell of mold is so bad and she said I'm sending you a picture, I need to look at it now! Its a picture of a room that you can see in from the window (only a couple doors down from us) that is just so nasty and covered with mold. So they say they will take 10.00 off my bill and put me in another room, housekeeper takes me to different room and it's just as damp, then another room and it's better but you can see where there was a leak in the ceiling at one time and I look around and saw some wallpaper starting to peel and behind it is black. Then they finally take me to another floor (they say it's because it's first floor so it's damp since it was raining) but there's no way that mold grew that fast overnight. Thank goodness the second floor was better but after we got all our stuff moved we go out for a bit and come back I go in the bathroom to find drips of pee on the floor in front of the toilet and then on the side of the toilet was a puddle of dried pee. I put a towel over it on the floor because I just don't want to deal with it I was exhausted. So then in the morning I went to go get breakfast just like I did the morning before and take it to my room and the dining manager says you know the complimentary breakfast is for dining room only right? I said well no I didn't know that, and I took it to my room yesterday and No one said anything??? She rolls her eyes and nods her head and says mmmm hmmm So I didn't get to have breakfast either. It was just terrible!! So I've been calling since 9/10/2018 with no return calls from the GM, or Owners. The swelling and pain of my lips lasted for 2 weeks!! read more

the hotel is basic but what really is bad is that while staying there this weekend i had money stolen out of my purse. I leave my purse bec i was going to be hiking all day and there had been warnings about leaving valuables in cars well what i had to be careful of was housekeeping!!! i reported it to the front desk they said they would investigate, i had to go back twice to see what was happening and they finally said that they had spoken to the employee who denied it (big surprise) but they had been fired and so sorry and she had been there a long time. That was it, no restitution no contact from the manager nothing! Horrible customer service and business prac, bec frankly who knows if the employee is really gone! read more

I always love staying here. The staff are super nice, friendly, and helpful. They still let you use the indoor pool and spa even with the pandemic. It's clean and comfortable and everyone there is so nice. It's a little dated, but quiet and very well managed. I can't say enough good things about this place. Warm and cozy and they really look after their guests. Very good deal for your money. I'll stay there every time my travels take me to southern W. Va. read more

I had concerns based on what I read but there aren't a lot of options in the area so we took our chances. Definitely an older hotel but it was clean enough and the staff was nice. I'm always careful to check towels and bedding for anything questionable. I was pleased to find nothing scary. I always keep a spare set of pillowcases in my suitcase and thankfully I didn't need them. Our room was quiet but I think we were pretty much alone. The mattress could stand to be replaced. Not the most comfortable but it was ok and after all the hiking I could have slept in the bathtub. read more

Stayed at this spot for a weekend rafting trip at ACE Resort. Not too shabby if you're looking for an inexpensive and clean place to crash when in the area. They've got a pool, hot tub and gym inside, and are about a 10 min drive to ACE Resort which makes this hotel a win all around! The one thing my friends and I absolutely love about this place are their showers!!! lol! You may laugh now, but if you've ever stayed at a place with bad water pressure, you'll learn to appreciate the places that have awesome water pressure. And this place has got it! Other things to note is the friendly staff!! We drove all night in the pouring rain and arrived around 3am, and it was nice to be greeted by such a sweet woman to get us checked into our room. Free breakfast in the morning ends at 10am: eggs, sausage, hash browns, cereal, fruit, muffins, yogurt, coffee, tea - all free and good enough to wake ya up and hold you over until lunch. They have other items you can order to additional cost; A nice variety from omelettes to french toast, to biscuits and gravy. Our crew is already planning our next rafting trip for the fall and no doubt we'll be staying here again!! read more

Probably the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Had ants crawling all over the room and asked to move rooms. The desk clerk said it was too late and couldn't move us. So we just checked out. She never apologized or even acted like she cared. Horrible customer service. We will never stay there again read more

I was in town from California with my boyfriend for a wedding and had an amazing stay here. The staff was super helpful and nice. Breakfast was great- my room was super clean and the shower pressure was on point. I didn't get time to visit the pool but it looked really nice and clean. The location was great, no complaints! I would definitely recommend! read more

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a night and liked it enough we stayed for four days and we are back again this weekend. It's our getaway from the kids and home. Pool and hot tub are nice staff are friendly and room service is good. read more

I'm not super picky but this hotel was bad. Musty smell and what looked like black mold on the wall. The carpet in our room felt damp. We ended up staying in a chain hotel in Beckley and were still able to enjoy the New River Gorge. read more

Waste of money you would be better off sleeping in your car the rooms are so dirty bed bugs hair in the drains the commode had been used and not flushed just the odor of the last customer left behind the carpet felt spongy and had a odor found strips of foil under mattress that was burned on one side and some residue on the other apparently drug use I couldn't get my money back and I did not stay or even try another room read more

If you're rafting and used to staying in a tent this place is adequate. Aside from the hair stuck in the electrical plugs and the breakfast buffet that was completely out of food at 9am, this place is okay. Wouldn't stay here with my wife and kids because of the partying and cleanliness. read more
