This is branded as a New River Gorge location, which is a bit of a stretch. It's about a half hour drive to the bridge and the visitor center. Having said that, the area around the gorge doesn't have an enormous number of options and prices are high, so a place like this can be a pragmatic pick. The hotel is in a shopping center and at the time of my visit, had a parking area that was in quite poor condition with numerous potholes. I completed an online checkin in advance, but you still have to talk to someone to pick up a keycard, and their one employee was apparently busy. A group of us waited at least fifteen minutes or so before she finally returned and started handling our needs, which I take more as a comment on the staffing decisions than on one individual person as I assume there was some reason for her absence. Having waited so long, I forgot a water bottle in the lobby and returned an hour later to find it still there, untouched by any other guest and not noticed by staff. The room itself was pretty good. Decent curtains, and solid air conditioning. Noise was not zero, but only occasional; I have found other locations in this part of WV that were harder to sleep in due to road noise or trains. I brought my own breakfast as I wasn't expecting much from theirs. Having said that, a lower end hotel in a good location can be a lifesaver, and this one at least met my basic needs. read more

Was driving through and needed a place to stay. No problem getting a room late at night, checked me right in. The lobby was very nice and comforting when literally 9 degrees out in WV. Room was nice, warm & very clean. Bed super comfortable & I passed right out. Shower was great temp & perfect pressure. Had the complementary breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy...great coffee & juice. Had bagels & yogurt as all. Packed up & continued my trip. But spoke to desk & told about rafting, rope courses & a lot of outdoor activities. Very friendly. Will be back with the fam! read more

We checked in for 6 days. After the first day, we were told that we had to change rooms because of construction. Why the heck would they put us in that room? And worse, we had to drag our luggage back to the car because the next room wasn't available. When we came back, they upgraded us to a suite. That was great except the windows didn't seal and we were located just above the outside smoking area, so our nonsmoking room stunk like smoke. read more

Summerville isn't much of a town, so there aren't any real luxury hotels. But La Quinta by Wyndham Summersville is pretty good. The rooms are spotlessly clean and as it is located in a shopping center area has the advantages of being close to restaurants, etc. It has good free parking, the internet connection is decent, and an indoor pool. Also, when saying there, breakfast is included. It's nothing special or really noteworthy, but just a good clean conveniently located place to stay. read more

Hotel is very conveniently located for those travelling between Florida and Southern Ontario. The rates were very reasonable for what we got. The hotel itself is a little tired and could use some refreshing. The hallways have a very strong scent that smells like cologne and is very strong. The rooms are an adequate size and the beds are comfy. Our bathroom had a drippy shower and the sink drained extremely slowly. However, the bathroom was a good size with lots of counter space. The breakfast was quite good with lots of variety - pancakes, home fries, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, yogurt, dry cereal and fruit. Had no hot water one morning and when i came back that afternoon i still did not have hot water. They gave me room above the one i was at and it did not have hot watet. Finally got hot water around 7 pm. They did not say if they found the problem. Also there is no info book in the room explaining when they clean the room I wnet down. Drove 2 hours for a barely 1 night getaway only to find out they lied to us, the pool and jacuzzi was out of order and had beeen out awhile, & it was the deciding factor to stay there. Did they care? Nope. While we got over it you can barely sleep because it was directly beside the interstate so all night all u hear is 18 wheelers and cars zooming by. To top ur trip off an extra $250.00 charge was added and i acnnot find out why. Nice lobby, lots of seating. All staff we encountered were nice. Room was nice. Air conditioner was loud but at least it worked really good. Basically it's an average hotel, free hot breakfast was good. The best thing about this hotel is the close proximity to gas, food, shopping, Walmart. Pros: -Great selection for continental breakfast, including quite a few hot bar items (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuit, gravy, and hash browns). Easily accessible, reasonable, and clean... Clean from the workout room to the breakfast area to our hotel room. I am a bed bug checker even if I'm staying in a hotel that was just built and can attest there were no bed bugs. My room was spacious, smelled fresh, the bed was comfortable, pillows were plentiful, desk area provided efficient room to work, bathroom was spacious, refrigerator and microwave were convenient and the room overall was well laid out. La Quinta hotel housekeepers were friendly and hardworking. Pool and hot tub were in operation but we did not use. I did frequent the workout room where two TVs, water, and towels accompanied a selection of cardio machines, weights, and a four sided weight lifting machine. You will find this colorful welcoming hotel near the interstate but my sensitive ears were not bothered by vehicle noise. Restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. Summersville Lake and Kirkwood Winery are a short drive from this hotel and in my opinion they are worthy stops. La Quinta was a perfect choice for a two night stay and I recommend to anyone considering! read more

Stayed here for 8 days total now and no room service a single time. One lady told us the cleaners open all doors that need cleaning and she closed our door so they just skipped over it. We have to walk to the front desk everyday for new towels and our old ones never left the bathroom. The breakfast is not very good either read more

I hardly ever write bad reviews but this was a must. The first night we checked in to our suite, we spent all day unpacking since we were there for a week. We didn't get done until 10pm since we arrived at 6pm. We had to have house keeping change the sheets because they were covered in animal hair. Housekeeping was very friendly about it though. I scrubbed the tub myself so I wouldn't cause more trouble for them. There were cobwebs, dust and dead bugs everywhere though. I cleaned it all. I even picked up the dead bugs with a tissue. At 1:30 am we went to take a shower after along day and the water pressure was verily trickling in. We tried the tub and let it run for 35 mins and it still wasn't ready. We called the front desk, they were very friendly and moved us to the suite above us that luckily was available. It was cleaner thankful but there was human hair on the sheets as well. It took us 3 hour to move and pack up all our things again and it was a pain to do this all so late at night when you are exhausted. We asked to speak the the manger that morning. We kept checking to see if she was available and probably drove the front desk crazy. We were told she couldn't speak to us because she was too busy. Finally after two days of trying to speak to her they offered us only $20 off our stay... It wasn't until we brung up the "satisfaction guarantee" did they take the time to really hear us out. We were also told for 3 months that we could pay with cash at the end of our stay. When we got there we were told we have to pay nightly. Which I understand but we were pretty upset we weren't told anytime in those 3 months differently. We called several times to confirm everything because we have been screwed over by another hotel in the recent past. Luckily we had enough money in our budget to eat cheap during our stay since we checked in not knowing this. Almost everything in the hotel was out of order. The hot tub was down since September 2016. No one told us. We called many times and not once did they mention it. It's also not listed on their website. It's September 2017 and they are still waiting on the part they were exactly a year ago? I doubt it. The ice machine was down on floor one. It said go to floor two. Floor two's ice machine was down as well. The door to the pool room was propped open all week with a wet towel, there is a dirt ring around the pool so heavily kids are scratching their names in it, the ramp railing is so insanely rusted and jagged on the bottom if someone would stub their toe on it they would Definitely have to go to the hospital. The dryer, gym equipment, and some doors were also out of order. The elevator was very scary. It dropped a tad bit when going up. It also sometimes beeped repetitively while closing and didn't stop until we got to our floor, like there was something causing it from shutting. The fire alarms went off randomly 3 times. The first time was at 5am and the front desk said it was the oven. The other 2 were above our room and eventually stopped. No clue what happened which is very unsafe. The walls are paper thin. You can hear almost everything being said in the other rooms. The staff was mostly nice and the other room was mostly clean. If this hotel got some love it would be much nicer but I think they aren't interested in keeping it nice. I loved it before this year. read more

This hotel was wonderful, we stayed in a king suite, it was very clean, and the hotel staff was very polite. We came for a weekend trip to go boating at Summerville Lake. They had plenty of parking to park our boat safely. My family and I booked a total of 4 rooms here and we all shared the same experience. We will definitely be returning in the future. read more

I'm pissed. I really wish I would have checked yelp before coming here. A hotel is a hotel-I mostly come to sleep, shower, and get back on the road. I had worked a 24 hour straight shift with no sleep so when my room smelled musky and weird, I ignored it to crash ASAP. Turns out, it's a leaky AC unit just like others have complained about. What else, oh yeah... I paid $35 extra for this place instead of the hotel within walking distance by my job site for one reason and one reason only-the hot tub. I've worked non stop and I'm incredibly sore. Instead of a hot tub, I'm now sitting in the bathtub instead as their hot tub is town. And according to the reviews... a year ago it had been down for a year already. So two years now? The caution tape around it is the same as a year ago. I freaking paid more to sleep in a musky damp smelling room further away from my job site for nothing. Thanks. Take off the freaking hot tub advertisement off your website if it's not going to be an actual amenity for OVER TWO YEARS. In addition, There's only one working elevator for the entire hotel. Not only will I NEVER stay here again, i don't ever want to stay at any La Quinta again. Why the hell would I pay more for less than stellar accommodations. I am so upset with the Laquinta by windham in Summersville West Virginia. We had issues with the hot tub there was only one jet working... in the room toilet could only be flushed by holding down the handle... Want to take a shower?? Sure why not stand in a foot of water because the tub wouldn't drain.. also the exhaust fan doesn't work. On top of the ice machine that would spit out two ice chips at a time. Talk to someone at the desk to say they are not managers they don't know. Checking out charged three times for a the night stay. Once again no one knows nothing. I would not recommend this hotel at all. On top of that we drove back to the hotel to get answers to find out they talk about their customers. Saying we was full of shit. 3 out of 5 people in my group got bit by fleas. We stopped here on our way to Florida (late at night). We went in, we slept, we came out, had flea bites. Not only did the hotel not give us a refund but after three days of phone calls they LIED and said I refused to give them photos so how do they know I was bit by fleas? They claimed they had an a inspection done on our room and no fleas were found, maybe I was but somewhere else (fleas, from my minivan perhaps?). I sent pictures of the flea bites and they apologized but my family and I must have all broken out with something!! Travellers BEWARE!!!!!!!! There's fleas and nobody fixed it!!! What a nightmare!!! I can't believe the terrible customer service they provided. They offered that we would call their corporate office and take them to court. How RIDICULOUS. I am not sure why this hotel doesn't have all 5 stars. My family stopped here on our way back to ohio from Virginia Beach because of friends in craigsville. We stayed one night. The room was 105, very clean, and well maintained. The beds were VERY comfortable, we slept great. My kids and I enjoyed the indoor pool. The shower I'm the room was spacious and had great water pressure. We aren't sure about the free breakfast because when in WV tudors is a must!! read more

Not the best. Not many options in the area. I was here accompanying my husband on a job he had in the area. I was going to have about 6-7 hours to kill during the day with no car. There are some things to do in the area but just in case I asked for a later checkout. I let them know my circumstance and know that a lot of hotels offer a later checkout for a small fee. They would not budge even an hour and I was willing to pay. So, I had to carry around my overnight bag half the day and tried to hide in the indoor pool area for 3 or 4 hours. When we checked in, it was standard. That was fine. The air unit kept us up all night. It would wait until it was burning up to turn on, it was obnoxiously loud and the thermostat was broken. Breakfast was pretty good although we were zombies from not sleeping. I would be interested to try the Sleep Inn down the street next time. read more

A smooth check-in process, with clean rooms and newly updated furnishings. The hotel staff was also helpful and courteous at every point. My only qualm was that the air conditioning unit in the room leaked overnight, getting quite a few of our bags wet (including my briefcase). When I told the staff at checkout, though, they made it right by taking a bit off of our room charge to compensate for the issue. Because they did the right thing, and were generally apologetic for the issue, I think the hotel deserves 4 stars. read more

I've stayed in this hotel twice, on my way between Florida and Buffalo. It's comparable to other LaQuinta's that we've stayed in. Very clean, nice staff, great breakfast, great, spacious room. I only have one complaint about this property and it only pertains to those that bring pets with them. There is no close area to walk your dog. You must basically walk around the back of the hotel to find any grass. No biggie for most people but for those with dogs, it's a problem. Otherwise, it's a great hotel. Update, 11/7/16, we stayed here on the way back South. Same comments, very consistent. I will say, I missed the fact that there are Kurigs in the room with coffee supplies! Nice! Still 4 star rating but I would say if you're in Summersville, stay here!! read more

Currently staying here for the WV Mt State Gospel Sings and enjoying every minute of it. The only cons are; our room is right next to a staff service room so they open and shut it often every morning, there is a slight dog smell to it but hey it's a pet friendly hotel what do you expect, and last and least importantly where there's a bunch of people in the pool area it's very noisy. This place is very clean and the staff have been amazing. The hotel chain has become my new favorite. read more

One of the few, if only, pet friendly hotels in the area, but other than all the pooches you'd never know pets stayed here. The rooms have always been spotless for each of our multiple visits. The staff is always friendly and seemingly love pets as well. The rooms are nicely appointed, tvs and Wi-Fi modern and efficient. The breakfast offers many choices. I only wish they had more grass to walk dogs in but otherwise this hotel exceeds all expectations! read more
