In looking for a new agency to help with care for my mother, I came across Caring One. They had…read moregood online reviews and an office nearby. Additionally, an aide with whom we already had a working relationship, was looking for a new agency. So, after a couple of back and forth calls with Cassandra and Amilyn, it was decided that our aide would take an interview. We had also gone so far as to discuss what the next steps might be, should this be a good match for both parties. And then, everything went sideways. For no discernible reason, Caring One, after meeting with the aide and doing the initial intake of her information, seemed to then fall off the radar. As a prospective client, I called numerous times, only to be put through to a messaging service each time, without a single call back for more than a week. So, after about a week, my wife, who happens to work near their office, headed over to see if she could speak with someone there. When she arrived, she found a small cubicle, among a larger co-working/shared office space, tucked away on the 20th floor of 14 Wall St., in which sat Cassandra. My wife asked what was going on, and why they hadn't returned any of our calls. Cassandra said something about needing to speak with her boss and not having the answers herself. It's been a week since then and there has been no call back. Bottom line, this should be a major red flag for any prospective client. When you cant get through to an agency at the outset, and once you eventually do, and their reasoning is nonsensical, you should take that as an indication of how things might go in the future. Safe to say that when things get a little confusing or trying, they will likely come up short of your expectations.

The caregiver constantly manipulates the family against each other in order to get his way. Every time I try to replace him the agency interferes and ignores my requests even though I am the one hired them and I am the one who pays the caregiver who I dislike immensely. I should not have to be a situation where I am forced to keep a caregiver that I dislike. They don't return my phone calls and they ignore my requests to get a different caregiver. Instead of working with me to replace this caregiver who has created an extremely toxic environment, the agency will go behind my back and reach out to another family member who has very little to do with the caregiving, is easily manipulated and it results in arguments about replacing the caregiver. I don't want a caregiver who is only in it for the money and who does not have patients wellbeing in mind. I constantly have to step in and make sure the patient is being cared for. I should be allowed to replace a caregiver that I have no trust in. The caregiver should not be in charge and the agency should not be in charge. Thay have made a difficult situation even more difficult by pitting family members against each other. I dislike them immensely. Be careful

She wouldn't give me her name, she didnt have any sort of professionalism and left me at a loss on how to initiate the conversation that involves me handing them my hard earned dollars. when i asked her what steps i could take to move forward with evergreen choice after an incredibly unfriendly silence she literally said "if you're looking for a job you can go to our website" talking to that woman was like the textbook example of how not to make a sale. When the owner, Ann, called she was just as unfriendly as the nameless entity that represents her business. Ann told me, quite rudely, after i laid out that i wanted someone to come to my grandmothers home 3 days a week for 4 hours a day, That the time i needed someone to watch my grandmother was not worth it to the caretakers and if i couldnt bump the time up to at least 6 hours a day no one would take the job and it would be a 'revolving door of caretakers'. I understand what she was saying, but she reduced my elderly grandmother, that i care deeply about, to a job and a job that isnt worth it to the people she chose to surround herself with and represent her brand. I cannot figure out how am i supposed to trust Ann enough to have someone she chose watch my grandmother, largely unsupervised, when she cant even get it together enough to sound slightly kind at all over the phone. Speaking to her offended me, made me feel like i was imposing on her, and also like my grandmother was too burdensome for Ms. Ann without a larger payout. Not feelings that made my heart smile about handing thousands of dollars to her. If Evergreen choice's over the phone service is so unfriendly and brusque i cant imagine their caretakers are much kinder. Not the sort of people i would want looking after my freaking grandmother. Whatever entity on behalf of evergreen choice answered their phone needs to be retrained and Ann needs to take a hard look at her branding strategy.
