I try to visit my mother at least every other day. There is no where to sit in the room so I sit on…read morethe bed other bed. I have been doing this for months and no one has ever said a word to me so I never knew this was a problem. Tonight a nurse was upset because my mom's colostomy bag broke and decided it was time to cause a problem. I understand it is a lot of work and a dirty job. So she tells the other worker to tell me. If I sit on the bed I need to leave. She cpuld have pulled me aside anytime in the last few months if there was a problem but she choose to make a seen right there in front of my mother upsetting her aswell. This was clearly over her being upset about the colostomy bag breaking as this was the time she choose to address the issue. I talked to the staff and they said well they have to have the beds cleaned whenever someone gets on them. And thats fine if thats the case all you had to do was pull me aside anytime in the last 2 months and tell me. I certainly would have understood that and I would have brought something in to sit on but the way she handled it was absolutely ridiculous. Please understand This is not a criticism of most of the staff as almost all of them are extremely kind and try very hard to do a good job and take care of the residents but this was about as unprofessional as it gets. They ladies at the desk handled handled things in the correct and professional manner. All you had to do was pull me aside and talk to me if there was a problem, Upsetting my mother and creating a scene on Thanksgiving because you are upset about a colostomy bag breaking is not a very professional way to handle things. On top of this issue they sent my mother to the ER and she almost died at the hospital. The doctors at the hospital said brickyard waited 2 or 3 days to long to send her to the hospital and as a result my mother almost died.

Not my story but needs to be told…read more After talking it over with my lawyer. I feel it's my duty to protect and inform those that are unaware... January 22, 2025 I was training for my new mgr position when we heard the yelling from clear at the front. I heard ceiling and resident in the same sentence and I took off running so fast I was the first one in the room. I ran straight to the bed by the window, using my body as a shield while the ice, cold water and debris was falling us. I tried to protect the resident the best I could while other angels were right behind me, getting the resident in the first bed out. I heard the fan and the TV going so I hurried and unplugged that from the wall, as the room was flooding with ice cold water. We had to think fast and get wheel chairs, we got the residents out of the room safely. Not long after, in other areas did the ceiling start collapsing. This is at Aperion Care (ABORS) in Michigan city. I was told this isn't the first time the ceiling fell on an old person... It happened last year too. I did not take these pictures, they were sent anonymously, but this is what is really going on inside that building... On midnights, units don't have nurses because they are so short staff. So if a resident codes and it's a brand new cna on the floor (which they have) then the residents is most likely not going to recieve the proper care they deserve. I know this because my new position was being the building scheduler and multiple times I told the ED we didn't have enough nurses for the building on nights. In my opinion the ED didn't take a more aggressive approach to assure the safety of those residents. I can neither confirm nor deny if the lact of staff is the reason for the amount of casualties, but it definitely should raise concern to the public eye! The rumors of the amount of neglect that go on are absolutely true! This place is not safe at all for anyone. And your loved ones are not safe in the care of the administration they have in office right now!! The amount of deaths that happened in February alone, raises a whole lot of concern for me! And it should for you too!! This is why I got fired. Because I refuse to act like any of this is okay. Imagine being a little old person just laying there in bed eating, all the sudden the ceiling collapsed on you! Ice cold water pouring down on you! And you can't move to even get yourself out from underneath it! I was the first one in the room, but I was told I'm not a team player. I AM IN FACT A TEAM PLAYER FOR THE RESIDENTS I'M JUST NOT A TEAM PLAYER WHEN IT INVOLVES THE ELDERLY OR THE DISABLED BEING HURT OR NEGLECTED!! I TOLD YOU I'D BE THE BEST CNA YOU EVER HAD AND I MEANT EVERYWORD!!! THOSE PEOPLE ARE IN DANGER NOT JUST FROM THE BUILDING BUT FROM BEING UNDERSTAFF AS WELL!!! SHARE THIS POST!!!!!! January 2025 these pictures were sent to me annomously and are on Michigan city Facebook groups.

I recently posted a negative review but elected to remove it after Aperion's Administrator, Todd…read moreSmith, reached out to me and promptly solved my issue. During the process, I had an opportunity to see the facility side of the issue and the challenges they face. It's easy (and fair) to write an honest review, but I have a feeling that people rarely take the time to follow up about their experience with the fix. I am now confident that the intent of this administration is to provide the best possible care to their residents. Working with them will ensure our loved ones' care needs are met. Remember the saying: "It takes a village!"
