Joe of Comfort One Shoes knows feet and gave me my life back. About six years ago, I developed discomfort in my heels that later turned into pain. I went to my doctor who told me that I probably had plantar fasciitis and sent me to a podiatrist. The podiatrist provided me with some inserts for my shoes and administered an injection of cortisone in one of my heels. My condition only improved somewhat and the effect of the cortisone was only temporary. I was soon back at the podiatrist who gave me a cortisone shot in my other heel, which again only provided some temporary relief. I was beginning to think that I would not be able to overcome my heel pain. By this point, I was actually starting to plan my life around my condition and was becoming despondent because my heel pain was preventing me from doing the things that I was able to do before. After about two and a half years of dealing with my pain, I stopped into Comfort One Shoes because they carry the brand of shoes that I wear. Joe waited on me that day. He measured my feet to get my precise shoe size. He watched me walk and through his observation was also able tell what type of insert that I needed. He even made minor adjustments using extra padding. He also suggested that I use compression socks to help relieve the pain. After two weeks, I saw a noticeable difference and now I am back to where I was before. Joe is much more than a shoe salesman. He is a foot expert. My daughter always travels to this store to get shoes for herself and her husband. She suggested I go with her to get shoes for myself. I am 59 years old and was unable to grocery shop and run simple errands once a week without my feet, legs and hips aching for hours once I got home. Joe patiently explained some things to me about the condition of my feet and things that happen with age. I was not overly concerned about fashion, but did hope for something that looked nice. After trying on a few different styles, just for comparison, I decided on a pair of athletic style shoes that really felt good on my feet, right there in the store. I took them home and did the suggested "trial run", wearing them around in the house to get a feeling for them. The following week, my husband and I went on a long planned trip to the Charlotte 600 Nascar race and I spent alot of time on my feet that day, walking - walking - and more walking. I was so happy, my feet and legs and hips did not bother me at all. We traveled the following weekend and I spent alot of time on my feet again, still no problems. I have been coming to this store for the last three years, and for one major reason, Joe the salesman. He is simply impeccable. From the first time I come into this store he took his time to walk me through the pressure points on my feet and where my problem spots were. As a nurse on my feet for 12+ hours I needed all the help to aid my aching feet. He educated me on my options of what shoes were best for the issues I had and helped me choose a shoe that I loved. On top of all the education he customized my inserts to coincide with my pressure spots which truly made the world of difference. I have returned each year to see him for a new pair of work shoes to insure my feet don't ache. I understand what previous reviews say regarding the prices of the shoes, however in my case I am willing to pay for a quality product and salesman to save my feet and allow me to do what I love. This is my first review but i felt the need to share my first experience at Comfort One. I walked in expecting ugly shoe's especially from a small store. The crowd was surprisingly big and the Lone sales girl running around yet still able to some how meet the needs of each customer. And the people were willing to wait. She greeted me and gestured for me to sit down next to another couple and started asking me questions while finishing up with the customer. She took her time with every customer and helped me better understand my own foot conditions. (Plantar fasciitis and painful Bunions) I was able to walk out with a fashionable pair of shoes that actually felt like they were made for me. Ash was very knowledgeable polite and quick on her feet. I will definitely be stoping back in soon for sandals, I feel strongly that she will be able to find something stylish yet comfortable. read more

Discovering Comfort One Shoes has been a Godsend! I recently developed plantar fasciitis and haven't been able to find a comfortable pair of athletic or even "comfort" shoes, since before COVID started. Even worse, I thought I'd never find decent looking heels ever again. Thankfully, Comfort One has them all!! Don was knowledgeable and patient as I tried on numerous types of shoes and asked even more questions. The footware in this store has proven that you don't need to give up fashion to obtain comfort. With the arch support that Don suggested, I found beautiful buttery leather heeled booties, running shoes that feel like you are walking on air, and casual slip-ons that feel like I'm not wearing anything at all. Well I went into this store expecting to pick a pair of shoes off of the rack they had and be on my way. I was greeted by a salesman who said hello and asked how i was. when i told him i was just looking he said we all are looking for something and when we find it that's when then fun begins. He was smiling the whole time which made me feel very welcomed. I asked him a question about the price of a shoe in the window which he picked up and held in his hand like he was weighing it and told me it was $120 I started laughing and smiling too. He then measured my feet and told me about how i stand and put pressure on my feet then he brought out whole bunch of shoes for my feet. I ended up buying some great shoes and inserts now my feet feel great. A co-worker of mine who has the same problems with her feet so she recommended that I go to Comfort One shoes and see Joe. My husband has problems with his feet too. We went there and Joe spent a lot of time explaining what was wrong with our feet in detail and what can help. He was very patient and respectful. He knows a lot about feet and shoes. He did not try to sell us what we did not need. We walked out of there with inserts for my husband and a pair of comfortable sandals for me. After I started my new part-time job, my shoes were not cutting it anymore. I had searched and search all that evening for a shoe that worked for me, but I could not find the perfect shoe. When I arrived at Comfort One, Joe had me step onto the foot machine. My feet were so pronated that all of my weight was resting on my big toe or each foot! We found the style of shoe that I liked, and he was able to put the proper insole in that was required. As soon as all the adjustments were done, I told Joe, "out of al of the shoes I tried on today, these were the most comfortable pair of them all!" I was very satisfied with the attention that Joe gave me in regards to making sure my feet were comfortable. A month into my job and my feet still feel fantastic! Had a fantastic experience here. My son has flat feet and wears custom orthotics. Jeff of Comfort One immediately assessed my son's needs, was able to deduce the problem my son was having with his current shoes, and find an alternative. As a trained pedorthist, Jeff has unique expertise. We were grateful for his help since finding viable shoes for my son is a constant challenge. My son walked comfortably in the shoes for hours and - since they're Brooks - we're confident they will last a long time. All the staff were attentive, respectful, and helpful. Also, their prices are true to the market. I wear Ecco shoes and the prices the store had were totally in keeping with prices for Ecco that I've seen elsewhere. Being a somewhat young and vain woman in need of a pair of her 1st orthopedic shoes, I was not looking forward to this shopping trip. However, the selection was surprisingly good and I found two pairs I really like and 100% meet my criteria for being fashionable. Joe was great- I went in on a Sunday and he spent a great deal of time with me, was incredibly knowledgeable and is very old school - he is all about getting to know his customers and their specific issues, and having you walk out with a pair of shows that are right for your feet. I started going to Comfort One in Frederick a few years ago, when I was having knee pain and nerve pain in my foot. Joe took good care of me, measuring my feet and helping me with understanding what I needed to help me with the pain. He is very knowledgeable. I have been able to go back to Joe, and he has been more than helpful adjusting, tweaking, etc. to make my experience the best I can have. You do not get this in just any shoe store. The shoes are expensive, I agree, but well worth the money for the service and the quality of the shoes. I don't need ,multiple pairs. Just sneakers and a black shoe and a brown shoe. A pair of sandals is also a good investment. They do have sales so take a look in there during sales times. read more

I have been going to Joe for several years now and he has done wonders for the condition of my feet. I also recommended him to my husband who now considers Joe to be the "go to" guy if you want excellent service and excellent help in insuring the the shoes you have fit your feet properly. I have gone back after several months or just a week or two so that he could tweak the fit. It is by far the best shoe store, and is now the only shoe store, that I use. After shopping many shoe stores, I knew I would find something here. I live in Gettysburg, by The Outlets, and no shoe store there compairs to Comfort One. I was there on a Sunday around 5pm. I was lucky to get Joe, who knew more about my feet than my foot doctor! What I was looking for is not what I walked out with; Joe explained what my minor foot issue is, and after leaving the store at 6:45 when they close act 6:00, I have a comfortable, stylish tie shoe! My feet have been abused after wearing heels for many years. This is the shoe store to come to. Comfort One Shoes is a great store. Joe was amazing and he asked me questions about my feet. He asked me why I did not like the fit of certain shoes. He brought out different pairs of shoes. I explained that I liked this pair of shoes but I did not like how one area pinched my feet. Joe used his magic to insert some stuff in my new shoes! I love them! Last summer, I got two great pairs of sandals with the help of the other salesman (sorry, forgot his name). I have shopped several time at Comfort One Shoes. I have serious issues with my feet, don't buy many pairs of shoes and am comfortable spending a lot of money on a pair that really works. Recently preparing to go a trip that would involve a lot of walking, I checked out Comfort One. I received excellent service from Joe at Comfort One Shoes with selecting an orthotic for a continuing right ankle discomfort during walking.. He clearly explained the reason and benefits to use an orthotic and took time to answer questions. His knowledge on this area was very impressive and went through building block for applying orthotics. I found the pair sold to me to be very beneficial and added comfort to my walking and reduce the discomfort I had. The products carried are top flight. I can walk without pain for the first time in months because of Joe and the amazing shoes he recommended. He took an hour to help me find the right pair for my situation (plantar fasciitis) and then proceeded to put extra cushioning in where needed. He was extremely knowledgable and wonderful to work with. Prices are on par with other stores and the Internet. He even helped my daughter and added cushion in her shoes too. Joe at Comfort One is fantastic! I originally went in at noon, but it was a little busy so decided to go back later in the afternoon. Joe answered all my questions and thoroughly explained the measuring machine. Joe went over everything that was available to me along with future options. Went in looking for shoes for my truly aching feet. Was greeted immediately by Kat - come to find out she is the store manager. Personalized service. KNOWLEDGEABLE! Listened to what I said - what I liked - what I didn't. I am set for the summer and will definitely be going back to see them in the fall for some winter shoes.
