I hate giving one star reviews but this place was just not at all what I expected at over $100 a night. The rooms were a good size, the staff was extremely friendly, and the veteran memorabilia was amazing BUT the good ends there. The entire hotel smelled liked onions and puke mixed together. It was so weird. The sink in our bathroom was clogged and then overflowed, the pool water was disgusting, the entire place is carpeted, even in the elevators, it was not my favorite by a long shot. read more

I didn't stay here. The Lobby was clean and the desk clerk was friendly and gave me a good price for the night. No complaints on that side. But I didn't end up staying here because they wanted to charge me $15 extra for my hamster. I understand why there is a pet fee but I don't see the point in paying that much for a tiny caged animal. It doesn't use water, towels, looses hair on the floor or chews on the furniture. I stayed at the Days Inn&Suites next door. They also charge a pet fee but not for a hamster. read more

Clean, comfortable, and nice staff! Not sure what the other reviews meant by rude staff...they answered all my questions politely at two in the morning, so definitely great staff! The room looked great and they seemed very friendly at the front desk. But we got very little sleep because the ac didn't work very well and because there's no sound insulation and we lost the noisy neighbors lottery and the people above us were letting their hyper kid or large dog run around and jump on the floor and all that well after midnight. Called the front desk, they said they'd look into it but of course nothing happened and by 7am they were back at it again with a vengeance. It's also the kind of place where we had a suite with three beds and they gave us the smallest bottle of shampoo ever. Just one. Wasn't even regular comfort inn sized. Internet did now work and the person on call would not come in to fix the issue. When I asked to speak with a manger they had to be patched through . . . Clearly not on site. I have yet to hear back. I was unable to FaceTime my kids during a move due to this. Both they and myself were extremely disappointed and it ended in tears. Shame on you for advertising free internet and not working to fix things. Update the 10% the front desk person offered they took back and the manager said they would not accept calls tonight. We came here on one of the nights during our road trip. Before this we had camped in a tent and stayed at the Luxor in Vegas and this was a big improvement to both. Upon checking in, the desk girl was very friendly and got us a room fast. After seeing our room, I was very glad we decided to pass up all the other hotels in search of this one. The room was quite large with a sitting area separated by a small wall from the bed. My husband was able to stay up and watch a movie while I slept with no disturbance to me. The next morning they have biscuits and gravy for breakfast! I had been wanting this for awhile so I was excited. I learned from other stays that comfort suites has a rotating schedule of breakfasts. If you are ever driving through Gallop, I highly suggest passing the other hotels and coming here. read more

After traveling for over a week at marginal hotels, I stopped here- and what a nice change! The hotel lobby and staff were pleasant, there were carts to take luggage from my car to my room, and an elevator (the first i have found in Arizona or NM, even at more costly hotels). Free newspapers (Wall Street Journal, USA Today), 24-hour coffee and tea available in the lobby, hot breakfast- and air conditioning that works! Easy access off the freeway, near a Denny's and fuel. There is also Red Rock Park about a mile down the road in case you want to burn off steam. My room was right next to the freeway and although I am a light sleeper there must have been good insulation as I had no issues. The hotel is new, nicely painted and furnished. The room has a hair dryer, microwave, mini-fridge, two bottles of free water (snacks and incidentals can be purchased in the lobby), a couch, stuffed chair, desk, coffee pot, closet with an iron/ironing board, shampoo and lotions. Accessibility- I did not have a 'disabled' room, so I am only reporting on the 'regular' room (I was in a two-Queen bed room): If you or a relative use a walker, or even a wheelchair you should have no problems getting to the beds. The bathroom, however, is tight and will be difficult unless you can stand up and leave the walker outside. There is one vertical grab-bar just outside the shower, but none inside. The shower head is not detachable/hand-held. read more

Passing through to Phoenix. No reservation and a family pet at 1 in the morning. Room was clean. linen was crisp and the bed was comfortable. In the morning the water pressure was awesome and the shower was hot. Comfort Suites in Gallup has a customer for life! read more

This Comfort Suites was far superior to almost any place I have ever stayed. The rooms were very large and clean. After 10.5 hours of being on the road it was a great place to Stay. The rates are reasonable and breakfast was nice. Thank Goodness I had made reservations as there was only 1 room left when We checked in. Ken is the leader/manager of a great hotel. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. I am sure the friendliness starts at the top with him. Gallup truly is the most patriotic small town in America. The lobby is full of military memorabilia from The Navajo Code Talkers, Medal of Honor Recipient pictures , flags, posters, and patriotic carvings to pictures of the last WWI survivor before he passed. The lobby is so full of history, this could be your destination vacation stop. I highly recomnend this Comfort Suites. read more

Clean, quiet, comfortable stay. Some of the reviews here list complaints of foul odors, inconsiderate staff, inoperable air conditioning, and even bed bugs. We had two rooms and there were 4 people in our party and none of us encountered any of the aforementioned problems. I would definitely stay here again if in the area. read more

For some odd reason the whole first floor smelled like moldy onions and had no air conditioner. The second floor was cool and didn't smell as bad. Breakfast was a granola bar and a cup of water, at least that is what the front desk told us. There was a small refrigerator in corner of the dining room with other food but it was kept a "secret" so guests wouldn't eat it. After we found it the lady at the front desk said that food was only available until 9 in the morning, but we were able to have some more gondola bars in we liked. I'm guessing the staff gets to eat the breakfast left overs, and that's why they were so defensive over the food. read more

BED BUGS!! My husband and I stayed in this hotel for a night while traveling across country to my husband new duty station for the marine corps. The room first appeared as clean and taken care of. WRONG! I woke up at 2 am itching, I went into the bathroom and found myself covered! In bed bug bites immediately I woke my husband up and we packed our things and got out of the room. Mind you it is now 3am. The staff member working the front counter was careless. I showed him my bites and told him we even seen the bed bugs crawling around. He did not offer to clean my things, did not offer to refund the money, did not even ask if I was okay. I called the cooperate office to get the situation handle and I was told by the cooperate manager that "he did not care" and that they "inspected the room and found no bugs" and basically told me I was a liar. I went to the emergency after two days of suffering with swelling and fever, medical professionals treated me for bed bug bites. I will NEVER stay at a comfort suites again! Also they did not notify other guest that there could have been a case of bed bugs and when we went down to the lobby to go swimming the pool was SHUT DOWN by the health inspectors of New Mexico... disgusting. read more

I've been in several choice properties and this is a really nice one. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, bed is comfy and sheets smell delicious towels are big, fluffy, and smell great, real breakfast with butter! My complaint about all hotels is they do not consider women enough when building bathrooms. We need bright light available to apply makeup, etc. I don't think even a man could shave in the bathroom. Great mood lighting but not good for getting ready. I recommend. read more

This is the best Comfort Suites/Comfort Inn I've ever visited. The room was immaculately clean and spacious. You can tell when you walk in the door that the owner/manager takes great pride in the place. There were lovely tributes to US military veterans everywhere. I believe there is also a military/veteran discount. At breakfast, the owner was downstairs casually chatting with people. I think this is a great way to get a feel for how people have enjoyed their stay and what can be improved. Breakfast is free and is good. This morning they had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits, and the traditional continental breakfast offerings like fresh fruit, juice, coffee, cereal, toast, etc. The price was right and the experience a good one. We'd definitely stay here again. read more

This is one of the nicest Comfort Inn's that we've stayed at over the past 3 years. The beds were comfortable, rooms were big and the bathroom was nice as well. And they served a decent breakfast too. This will be on our list of places to stay the next time we are in the area. read more

Really nice hotel, real clean and friendly staff! They also accept pets! I think they charge the pet fee based on the weight of the pet, my German Shepard pup is only 9 wks weighed about 10 lbs paid 15$ for her pet deposit not bad. I also had her in her kennel the entire night so it worked out fine. The room a bit pricier than most 100.$ a night plus tax and pet fee. They also give military discounts which is a plus. Breakfast was good, starts at 6am-9am. Would stay here again if we happen to cross through New Mexico again. read more

We were heading home from Disneyland and we were all very tired. I found this hotel on yelp with great reviews and I am so glad!! First my dad was a Marine as well as my brother and sister in law and when we walked in and saw all the memorabilia I could have been more proud of this choice!! The gentleman who answered the phone is a vet and was very pleasant and helpful. the front desk crew couldn't have been nicer even going as far as carrying up the pizza we had ordered because we were too tired to go out to eat. Our room is huge, everything is clean. Small things like having a list of TV channels printed out by the TV and large enough to where anyone could read it, to a second desk on rollers so you can move it over to the couch. Coffee pot, small fridge with water an iron and ironing board. I couldn't wait until tomorrow to post so there will be more on the breakfast and check out. I would give ten stars so far if I could. read more

I travel to Gallup for work at least twice a month, and this is always the hotel I stay at. Pricey, to be sure, but it is far newer than the other similarly-priced hotels in Gallup, and is located right off of the highway exit. Other hotels I have tried, like the Comfort Inn in east Gallup or the Quality Inn by Wal-mart, have facilities that are showing their age - cracked floors and peeling wallpaper, musky or smoky smell, and creaky fixtures. In contrast this hotel offers clean, modern amenities and is completely smoke free, meaning you're not going to get a repainted room that was converted to a non-smoking designation recently. Free wifi that works, am exercise room with decently modern equipment, and free coffee are nice touches. The breakfast is probably the best hotel breakfast in town, with a wide selection of hot and cold food items ranging from hard boiled eggs to waffles and gravy. There is a bit too much sugar in everything for my tastes, but there is fresh fruit and oatmeal that I can get by on. The only drawback is that being on the outskirts of town, the only decent restaurant option nearby is a Denny's. Downtown Gallup is a 5-10 minute drive and there are no drugstores, supermarkets, or anything but a couple of gas stations within walking distance. But whether you are heading through town or staying to "see the sights" (in Gallup? Dunno), this is an excellent option. read more

Where to begin....the free internet DOES NOT WORK. The air conditioning/heating did not work. We were told to fix it ourselves. Then when we couldn't, they were going to move us to a different room. But the front desk had to have our key cards and I couldn't find them since we were soooo tired from driving for 12 hours in the car. Then I went back to the room and the A/C was working a tiny bit so we just stayed in this room since we were practically passing out because we were so tired. DO NOT USE THE WASHING MACHINE!!! It did not get my clothes clean at all and they came out smelling like mildew. I had no choice but to go ahead and put my clothes in the dryer. It is near NOTHING! Don't stay here unless you are really into the military, in the military or have any affiliation to the military They give discounts to Veterans and have creepy war memorials covering every inch of the lobby and halls. I am a pacifist and never would have stayed here for all the reasons I listed. But, hey, if you have a tattered American flag- bring it here! They have a cardboard box so that the flag can be disposed of in the right way. Also- the pool, Jacuzzi, fitness room were closed when we arrived. read more

I really love the town - it's goal is to be the most patriotic city in the US and this hotel made us feel very appreciated. Over all this hotel was what one would expect from a lower budget hotel near the freeway. The outside of the hotel looked newer. The lobby has a sweet memorial to Pearl Harbor and WWII. There were only two issues. One, the entire hotel reeked of egg farts. Two, the noise from the train that ran right outside the hotel woke us up several times throughout the night. I would stay here again, but I would have to purchase ear and nose plugs. read more

Horrible hotel. Checked in at 10 pm and the room was hot and the air conditioner would not stay on. Called management and he said "We are telling people to unplug the unit for 5 minutes. Then turn it back on." They KNOW the air conditioner isn't working and still gave us the room. There could be a short or something else wrong with it. With small children wanting to sleep, I kept unplugging it all night. The worst thing, when I checked out, Benally was useless to complain to. She gave me a card and said there is NO managers or assistant managers on duty! She automatically charged my credit card even though I wanted to pay cash and could not refund the card! She blamed the night employee for not telling us if we wanted to pay for cash we were supposed to pay the night before?? Worst stay EVER EVER! The carpets are old and gross. Needs a major update. read more

Surprisingly nice hotel. 4.5 stars. First, they are pet friendly, as all hotels should be but rarely are. Second, the rooms are very nice, clean and spacious. The lobby area is well decorated and the staff are warm and friendly. They offer a hot breakfast with the stay which is also a plus. Yet another nice feature was their pantry area, especially when you just want to crash after a long day on the road. I wasn't bothered at all by the noise from passing trains in this rail hub town, which is a common complaint at most hotels in Gallup. The only down sides for us were their parking lot, which did not accommodate our truck and trailer, and the wifi is terrible. Luckily, there is a large dirt area next to the hotel we used to park our vehicle. Those two minor issues may not be issues for others, and I definitely recommend this place if you overnight in Gallup with pets. read more

Beautiful place to stay in. We're coming from Illinois- headed to Arizona and we wanted to stay here for a night. We got the Double Queen Suit that comes with an equipped microwave, mini-fridge, flat screen t.v., and a pull out couch. This was a perfect room for us since it was the 4 of us including our dogs. I only wish there was a grassy area for the dogs (I know, I know it's NM) but my dogs are spoiled and will only pee on grass, so I sadly had to go all the way in the front of the building and find a little grassy area for them. Other than that the stay is nice. It is extremely full so parking is hard to find and the pool was dirty, but that's to be expected since we got here at 9:30 pm. read more

Nice new motel. Was informed only dogs under 20 pounds were allowed. Had to sign form stating would not leave dog in room alone. All guests with dogs were put next to each other at the far end of the hotel. Two dogs were left alone in room and yapped and whined for hours. Now, I'm not blaming the hotel for that, nor the dogs--the owners, yes. My complaint is allowing only small dogs. The vast majority of small dogs are yappers. This policy is not only discriminatory against larger dogs (who tend to be calmer and quieter), it displays ignorance on the part of whoever set that rule. We will not stay here again unless rule is changed. In addition, the internet worked very erratically. Called tech for support, but it still worked only on and off. read more

Hotel was very nice, staff was friendly, and the price was affordable. I was impressed with how big the room (I had the king with a mini livingroom in it). Bed was a plus as well. Other hotel's beds were comparable to sleeping on a brick, here the beds felt like you melted in it. Well worth the stay if you are passing through. read more

Upon arriving to the establishment we saw outside that there was an indoor pool as well as what was advertised on the website. We booked this place specifically because of the indoor pool as well as hot tub and came to find out that it was under maintenance and would still be under maintenance for the whole month. Customer service was horrendous and there was no sense of empathy or trying to work things out to accomodate us. The staff was monotone and uncaring to our situation as we had three disappointed kids who were not able to swim. Customer service was awful. The rooms were nice and it is in a great location. read more

This is a clean pleasant place to stay. Two eating places close. Friendly staff. Pool presently green and in need of repair. The beds are just ok. They need some help at least in this first floor room. Carpets could use some cleaning also. My biggest objection is the tv. Since they use direct tv they need a better plan. There is a need for a better choice of stations. This is the worst choice I've seen on n a long time. read more
