If you like to hear trains and cars all night long, this is the place for you. Even if that was not bad enough, I have not a fucking clue what the whole hotel was doing all night that involved multiple doors being opened every few minutes. This has to be the cleanest Hotel that I have ever stayed at. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. The swimming pool is cleaned and so is the Jacuzzi. I love working out in their fully equipped gym. The breakfast options are many! The eggs are so delicious. I loved the cereal options. The coffee is superb!!! A good solid option when seeking refuge from the road. Perfectly situated on the east end of Gallup, LA Quinta is a beakon of rest for weary drivers after a long desert trek. When entering the lobby, you may come across a couple of man's best friends being led on a leash for their afternoon walk. Yes, pets are welcome at La Quinta, and it seems that all the travelers staying there know it. If you're a pet owner, you've found a safe haven. I wasn't sporting a pet on this stay, and I really didn't mind sharing the halls and elevator with those who were. For the most part, the pets humans took good care of and made sure their little ones minded their manners. However, my neighbor, whom I shared a wall, didn't respect their pet enough and left the poor thing in the room by itself. The poor pup reminded me of its displeasure by letting himself be known for the next hour. Nonstop. Inexorably. But that's OK, I just turned up the volume on the TV. It stayed that way until, upon their return, the neighbors noted their displeasure of the noise by pounding on the wall. I just had to laugh. My room was decent. Not superior, but good enough for my needs. There's a bbq place within a stones throw that serves up good food. It's convenient when you just can't seem to get yourself in the mood to get back in the car. After eating, I should have saved a bone to shove under the door to appease my little friend next door. I know, bad idea. My luck the pup would have choked on the darn thing. Go ahead and give La Quinta a try. You'll be just fine. Quick Tip: They'll feed you in the morning. There's not too many selections from which to choose, but they have one of those waffle machines. What I like to do is mix a couple of the little jam things in with the batter before pouring it onto the grill. It'll cook just fine and your breakfast will be less boring. If you really want to get creative, pick out the raisins from the Raisin Bran cereal and add it to the batter. Go nuts! Hmmmm.... next time, I'm going to throw in some granola. read more

Great time here. Slept great and lots of other folks had their dogs too. We found out from friends that most (if not all) La Quinta Inns are pet friendly. We're traveling with Howard this trip so we loved their pet friendly environment. Breakfast was quite good and included in the price. I made my own waffle and it was perfect (she said modestly ). Overall staying here was okay and I wouldn't be mad if we were in the Gallup area and had to stay here again, but it wasn't my favorite stay at a La Quinta. What we liked: little (emphasis on *little*) fenced area for dogs to be off leash, nice breakfast selection and the dining area was nice and clean - my waffle was delicious, the room was very clean, certain things in the room like the bathroom seemed updated in the past few years, microwave and mini fridge in room What we didn't like: The room was so hot, the heater just kept blowing even though we set the temperature to 68. So then we turned on the AC but the room was still super hot (I am usually cold all the time so this was especially hot for me to be bothered). There is a sizeable gap under the door to the room which means you can hear allllll the hallway sounds very clearly. Definitely ask for a room away from the elevator. Our room was right near the elevator and I could hear people's conversations clear as day when I was lying in bed at 1 am trying to fall asleep. read more

We stayed here on our cross country journey and it was the perfect spot for my mom, me & our dog. It's right off the main freeway, clean, great room. The cost of a regular king room was the same as the king deluxe so we got a room with a desk & sectional which was nice for setting our suitcases out. They have the cutest lil dog yard with a white picket fence that you can take your pet to do their business in. Breakfast was great with tons of options from waffles to cereal to bagels and more. I'd highly recommend this hotel, especially to those traveling with pets. read more

But I was awakened three times by the room Phone randomly ringing-- no one on the line--and then again before six by an alarm clock that was left set by the bed. This is the only hotel we stay at in NM for an over night stay on our way to and from phx. We travel with multiple dogs so lodging is limited. ALB la Quintas are nasty with so much homeless and drug activity lingering around the parking lots. Also those hotels smell like weed and are not well maintained. This hotel is well maintained, very clean, and offer a good nights sleep. We stayed here on 10/16 and 10/25. On the last stay, I was loading my car with the dogs and luggage only to get locked out by my bigger dog going crazy to get the attention of other dogs doing there more business. Joe, the maintenance guy, came to my rescue and get me get back in my car. I was so happy!!! Only took him 10 minutes (was not easy with my dogs barking and jumping around in the car) but he made it happen. Great service!!!! Then we left headed to Denver by way of ALB. We drive 86 miles from hotel and mom realized she left her insulin and diabetes meds at the hotel. We called the hotel and they had housekeeping bring it down to front desk. They offered to mail the yeti for us, but since mom needed her diabetes meds, we drive back. Ugh!! There was Joe again to offer ice from second floor when the ice machine wasn't working on the first floor. Our experience with this hotel is always positive- clean rooms, clean pet relief area, and quiet restful night. This recent customer service experience was just another reason why we will continue to stay here. Managers- please acknowledge Joe, the maintenance guy, he definitely is a good rep for your hotel. read more

On my travel home with family we stopped here for the night. The young lady at the desk was absolutely wonderful. The room was clean spacious and up to date. The price was very affordable. I felt bad for the gal running the front desk AND the cafe in the morning of 4/23/23. Went down at 6:45 and the coffee carafe was empty. Went back up to our room and made my own coffee, but there was only one cups worth of caffeinated so my husband went without. Went back downstairs about 7:20 and the eggs and hash browns were gone. The gal working was stuck at the front desk caring for people so we went without again. Obviously, part of our room fee included the 'free breakfast' but we had to drive down the road to the nearest cafe. Very disappointing. read more

Nice and clean but if you have been traveling a long way and are looking forward to relaxing with a nice soak in their spa, forget about it and stay somewhere else. We drove in from Las Vegas NV and I was tired, tense and sore. My wife and I went down to soak in the spa once we got settled in but unfortunately the jets on the spa did not work. I wouldn't have minded this usually but at a rate of $179 for one night I expect all amenities to be working properly. The sheets were also worn to the point they had holes in them. We stayed here while moving across country with our whole family, dogs and plants. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Everything was clean and covid friendly, which I completely appreciated! No pets fees and self parking was awesome. The continental breakfast was simple and perfect light meal for hitting the road. Update: because we had such a good experience last time we stayed here, we decided to stay again. We experienced good & bad this visit. The GOOD; Hotel is compliant with the COVID rules. This is our first time traveling durning this Covid Pandemic, so I'm a little concerned about cleanliness. Our room was clean and very nice. The pet area was clean and the pups enjoyed wondering around the fenced in enclosed pet area. Lobby, elevator and lobby were clean. The pool, gym and dinning room are closed due to Covid. Housekeeping & most staff were friendly & kind. Bravo staff for that. Theses masks are difficult to conduct business I know. The BAD; Upon check in we told by the young lady that checked us in, that we had been driving for 15 hours straight and that we'd prefer to be on the 3rd floor so we could sleep undisturbed. She informed us that because we were using some of our Wyndham point that, that was not possible & we were only allowed that Suite on the 2nd floor. My hubs asked her if the hotel wasn't going to be full to please not put anyone above us then. We were both exhausted, cranky and had a hard time hearing her with the masks & plexiglass partition. Her attitude changed from pleasant to a little snippy durning our questions. I know it's hard for everyone with all this Covid stuff, but check in staff should be a little more tolerant & kinder, especially with weary travelers. We had one of the WORST NIGHTS IN A HOTEL!! The room she put us in had an adjoining door to the room next door. We could hear the people talking and the little kid crying which kept waking us up throughout the night. And every time they turned on a light in their room it shined under the door lighting up our room. I did put the extra blanket in the closet along the bottom of that door to help muffle the sound and block the light. Needless to say we woke up exhausted this morning. read more

I'm a big fan of La Quinta, but this one was a bit rough around the edges. Pros: 1. They don't have a max limit on the number of dogs they allow. As an active-duty service member with three dogs in the middle of a cross-country move, that was HUGE! 2. The customer service was fantastic: very accommodating, very friendly. Every interaction was a pleasure. Cons: 1. Parking lot is DARK at night. Super, really, very dark. A lot of the hotel's parking lot lights are off or non-functional. That, combined with the general darkness of Gallup the town, and it's WAY insecure. Even though I needed stuff from my car, I didn't go out after dark. 2. Room smell/cleanliness. There was a very strong, cloying cover-up scent as soon as you walked in. The place had had smokers before, and the remediation hadn't worked. I found myself breathing more shallow without thinking about it in self-defense. 3. The breakfast. I tried both the biscuits and gravy, and the eggs and sausage: INEDIBLE. It was really, really bad! I stuck with the waffles, and embraced the morning sugar spike. 4. The fenced-in dog area is pretty gross. All that dog waste is saturating the mud there, and then folks walk in from there and track that grossness into the hotel. (You can see the red mud tracks straight from the dog area into the hotel. Yuck. Super yuck, in fact.) You can walk the dogs around the hotel, but it's mostly rocky landscaping. read more

A nice hotel located just off the highway. We drove cross country and decided to stay the night at the LaQuinta Gallop New Mexico location. Location: right off i40 located in a nice area. It looks like three or four hotels all built in the same location. Parking is plentiful, lots are well lite and there is a Dennys and gas station within 1/4 mile. Rooms: pretty large, modern and beds very comfortable. Bathroom good sized and very clean. Staff: all very nice and accommodating. Value: i think the LaQuinta hotels are the best value out there with Free hot breakfast included. Oh yea, there are trains that pass throughout the night across the street from the hotel but I found them to be interesting to watch. If you are a light sleeper, here's my trick. Put the temp control fan to low ( vs auto) and the hum of the fan is all you hear. I'm a light sleeper and slept like a baby all night. read more

The front desk agent at this hotel is extremely rude. Our brother stood there waiting for over an hour at midnight after driving all day and was absolutely exhausted. The girl actually spoke to a hotel.com agent and was shown proof of payment via online receipt. She threw our brother out after waiting in the lobby patiently and politely for OVER an hour even though he tried to give her another card. The hotel.com system was apparently having issues. Do not stay here. Their staff needs a massive lesson in customer service and overall kindness and compassion. She was acting extremely inappropriate while popping her gum in her yogurt stained uniform. I called back to get her name and she actually REFUSED to give it to me after I politely requested it over the phone. He did not deserve to be treated this way. She told him she was going to cancel the reservation at 12:30 and canceled the reservation at 12:25. This girl refused to charge his card as they have a different rate than what is listed online. How can they tell someone they are closing the office when they have a 24 hour front desk. Absolutely mind blowing and ridiculous. I cannot believe that you would kick out a incredibly kind and patient customer at 12:30 at night... during a pandemic. You must not want or need the business. We will never attempt to stay at another La Quinta ever again. read more

We have been staying here for years, since we have property nearby. This time I called and was connected to Dominique. When I asked for an ADA-height toilet (standard in most hotels nowadays), she assigned me a full ADA room with roll-in shower, saying nothing else was available. 1. Big wad of black hair on the bathroom floor, apparently left by mop 2. No tissue dispenser (handicapped people don't need tissues?), so had to use toilet paper. 3. toilet took over 5 minutes to finish flushing. 4. Poor room upkeep, with chipped paint, etc. 5. we were billed for the rack rate of $129.99, even though we are Wyndham members, AAA, AARP, etc. We'll try another hotel chain next time we're in Gallup. read more

We stayed at this La Quinta as we were passing through town on our way to Colorado for Memorial Day weekend. Check-in was quick and easy (even though it was busy), and the staff was really nice. The hotel has been remodeled recently, and is one of the more modern/nicer places in town. It was extremely pet friendly! I must've seen 10 other dogs and a cat while we were there. There's a nice fenced in area behind the hotel where you can take your pets to potty. There is plenty of room to walk your dog throughout the parking lots of the various hotels surrounding this one. It's also right next to a newer (clean!) Denny's and a gas station. We ordered dinner online from Denny's and took it back to the room with us. Would definitely stay here again! read more

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I arrived last night at 11:25pm, and Dominique Lopez was asleep. She was in such a deep sleep that the nonstop doorbell and beating on the front door did not stir her. Two other guests who heard the doorbell and knocks on the door had to go over to her and physically shake her from her slumber. When she woke up, she lazily walked to the door, opened it, and did not apologize for my wait. In fact she instead told me that she was not in fact sleeping and that she just laid her head down because of a migraine. She took more than 20 minutes to check me in. At first she said the system wouldn't let her in. Then she said that she couldn't find me because of a third party. I finally asked if she could please issue me a key, so I could go to my room and she could resolve whatever tenchnical issues she was having later. She said no that it was actually because my card was declined. It was only when I was on the phone with the Holiday Inn next door to see if they had availability was she magically able to process my payment. She was rude, unprofessional, unapologetic regarding her behavior and snide in her remarks. I was put off that I had to record her behavior in order for her to issue me a key to my room. I would love to show the video footage I took of Dominique sleeping through the doorbell and knocking on the door as well as the footage I took of her rude behavior towards me at check-in, I understand that it is difficult to find good people-- especially for entry level and night shift positions, but having Dominique represent your company will (and has) negatively affect your business. I implore you to retrain her on customer service standards as well as move her to a position where she is not expected to work with guests. read more

Stopped here for a quick overnight start. 5 stars given. Staff- very friendly and professional, got a great discount with AAA. Room- rented a king room with a sofa and desk. The room was upgraded with the new decor, sleek furniture and fresh paint colors. The room was clean and the linens were crisp and fresh. The bed was comfortable and many pillows supplied. Parking- plenty of parking, since on the outskirts of town, felt much safer then the other hotel locations. Pet friendly- biscuits offered at the front desk and designated pet area to let your pet go to the bathroom (fenced in so pet could roam off leash). **best part- rooms didn't smell like pet urine. read more

During three cross country trips with my dogs, I've come to appreciate the La Quinta brand and their pets stay for free policy. Some locations are great and some not so much. This one, i would rank somewhere in the middle. I have similar complaints of other posters. 1. The wifi is HORRIBLE! I had to use my iphone's hotspot to watch anything on netfix or xfinity to go. 2. I never heard a train go by but I could hear other guests very clearly from the adjoining rooms and hallway. The staff is friendly and helpful and it was nice to be able to grab a quick bite to go from the Denny's next door. read more
