I have been plenty of La Quinta and I love that they offer suites. That make it very convenient for my husband and I to have privacy as well as my 15-year-old kid. We stayed at this La Quinta because it was close to Texas State where we went for a college day. But besides the convenience to the school, it would not be a hotel that we would stay at again. When we walked in the building was hot and we were informed that the elevator was broken. When we got to our room, we were missing a remote for the front television. The couch looked dirty and when we took the pillows off to make the bed. It looked even less clean. We also found that our shower was dirty. There was not a lot of shower soap. Especially for three people to use, there was a bug in our room. And one of the lights did not have a light bulb. We did get the staff to bring us another remote. But this is not a hotel we would stay at in the future. read more

At least the beds were comfortable? This place is under renovation and it looks like it. There are paint splatters all over every carpet I saw. The floor in the elevator was peeling. Two of the three lamps in our room didn't work (one didn't even have a lightbulb). The bathroom door stuck badly, requiring a lot of force to get it open. And there was a dog locked in a room barking for HOURS at a time. But like I said, the beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast includes eggs, sausage, biscuits, two waffle makers, toasters and bread, apple juice and orange juice, milk, some fruit, cereal, and some pastries. What horrible service. They place is a complete dump. The room smelled so bad when we ran the heater we had to turn it off. The toilet paper roll holder was broken. The nightstand LIGHT between bed WAS BROKEN. I HAD TO GO FOWN STAIRS 3 TIME TO GET A WORKING SET OF KEYS. Then while searching for their bell men carts they wake me up twice. FIRST, they called around 9:00, I get up at 5:00. ! explained I was handicapped , they put me on the 3rd floor with the hotel 95% empty. I put the cart outside the room and went back to bed. Then they came back at 930 and pounded on the door so hard rhwy scared the crap out of my 6 year old daughter waking her in a most unpleasant way. ILI TOLD THEM I PUT IT OUT IN THE HALL. The check-in process was terrible. There was a long line because the clerk was insisting on having everyone pre-pay for their stay, and neither of the credit card machines was working. All four people in line before me had the same issue. The hotel is, allegedly, under renovation, but it looks worse than it should have. It smells mildewy, there are huge paint stains on the carpet, and the curtains in the bedroom were all torn up, like someone had gone at them with a pair of scissors. The bed was comfortable though. I stayed two nights because it was TXST Family Weekend and everything in town was booked. Over the weekend, there was a dog barking non-stop, someone cooking on a hot plate, and the fire alarm going off and the fire department being unable to turn it off because there was some sort of issue they could not fix. The checkout lady in the morning though, was kind but they young woman who checked us in on Friday has no business working in hospitality. Sì my sister made reservations weeks ago to come for a visit . Today when she arrived and went to check in about 7-715 we got told there was no hot water the rude girl up front said I called you several times to inform you but got no answer not I left a voicemail. She said she found out today that there was no hot water, construction worker walks by and 3 days he's had no hot water, why didn't someone call her then? She then refers us to another hotel and called for us, the nice gentleman helped and got a better rate then gave an additional discount. He did tell us once we got to the new hotel that the poor (and by poor I mean bad attitude) if I was her manager she would have been gone. Was very rude and was disrespectful. Hands down this hotel is horrible! Is the a negative star? We did get them a room at the Comfort In . Hands down the best Hotel & respectful front desk. The door that leads to the MOLDY Pool would not let us back in so doesn't work. We were not notified that the pull was Nasty when we came in nor when we passed the front desk and when we went to disclose to the front desk "she stated she completely forgot. The place is UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THE ELEVETOR (only one elevator for the entire place) needs servicing. LIGHTS ARE NOT SYNCED IN EITHER OF THE TWO ROOMS I BOOKED. Owners feedback when we called them to see what could be done. When Tracy (The Hotel Mgr) called "Andy" (Hotel Owner) to see what could be done, he stated that we can check out (mind you it was already 9:08pm) and we could go wherever we want to go and that there would be no charge. The hotel is terribly rundown and needs a lot of maintenance. There is a nasty mold problem in the breakfast area ceiling. Also, the 2nd floor carpet is DIRTY and SMELLY. There is also a safety issue with the exterior door by the pool area. Looks like someone popped the lock out of the door handle so the hotel keys do not work therefore the door stays propped open. Although the property is "pet-friendly" there is a $25 per night fee which is not declared anywhere on the website. Not sure what the pet fee is for. I've stayed here many years ago and the upkeep has gone downhill. The rooms appear clean enough but the public areas were filthy. Routine maintenance is nil. Entry rugs very soiled and stained. The walls near the elevator, the paint was chipped. A truck that looked abandoned in parking lot had two flat tires. Staff was friendly and helpful. Road construction makes entrance hard to see. I would give this a ZERO if it were an option. Absolutely the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. So so nasty and smelled. Andy the owner threatened not to give me my reward points for our stay. With a total of 10 rooms in our wedding party, every single room was dirty, had something wrong or missing. From broken locks, food and mold in the fridges, no blankets on the beds, wet floors, and towels, blood stains on the door, poop in the toilet, bed bugs, mold on the ceiling, the worst beds ever, and a strong smell of pee and must. There was no phone in the room, so no option to call the front desk to get info on how to use the Wi-Fi or get regular coffee pods which were missing, or get tissues which were not in the bathroom. I don't smoke but walking dog around property and cigarette butts all over the ground and the outdoor ashtrays were full and over flowing, and employees outside smoking you would think they see this they would clean it up. Elevator not working had to walk to 3rd up the stairs. Does not look like they have vacuumed the carpets in a year. Was scared to turn on bathroom vent because was caked with dirt. No clock in room emergency light on 3rd floor off the wall. They make breakfast but would not eat based on the cleanliness of hotel could only imagine what kitchen looks like. I called three different hotels in the area to get information on blocking rooms for a wedding next year and I got no responses or call back when the manager is in, (huge sigh of disappointment). Then I called La Quinta and got Josh, he really came through! He answered all of my questions and helped me understand how it all worked! On top of it all he got my rates locked and made suggestions if I need to book more rooms. We have family from both sides coming in from out of town and I am so grateful to be able to offer my guests a safe place to rest at a decent price! I am so relieved. My fiancé and I stayed for 13 days at this La Quinta in Kyle from January 10th-23rd 2016 and I will give you my 100% honest review. We just moved from New Jersey and were originally scheduled to move into our new apartment in Kyle on January 10th, but construction delays pushed back our move-in date, so the property management team offered to pay for a hotel stay for the duration of the time. They made sure to find the nicest hotel in the area that accepted cats because we have two, so they booked us at this La Quinta. This hotel is newly renovated and is absolutely beautiful on the inside. They were still working on a few renovations during our stay, like for instance one of the days construction/maintenance asked to come in to our room while we were there so they could put up new curtains which we didn't mind. The room had a fridge and microwave which was very handy for us considering we made meals from the room some nights like salads and warmed up some soups. The TV had many channels and the WiFi worked perfectly. Waffles at the breakfast bar were delicious and were the highlight of our mornings. We stayed in room 323 right across from the elevator. Coincidentally, the first and last days of our stay the elevator wasn't working so we had to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs which wasn't a big deal. I would give the comfort level of the beds a 4 out of 5. Also, I could hear full on conversations coming from the room next door through the bathroom vent. So I think that could be a problem with privacy levels. I love the coffee and infused water station they have in the lobby (especially the pecan praline coffee, delicious!) Most of the days the infused water was on point, like when they had lemon and basil water. A few of the staff stood out to us, I wish we wrote down their names. One was a man that was there in the afternoons who wore a hoodie. He was exceptionally nice and even did our laundry for us one day because the guest washing machine was out of order. He's so friendly and if he's not a manager he should be. Also, the sweet lady with the short hair that took care of the morning breakfast bar. She always had a smile on her face. All of the staff would greet us though and ask us how our day was going. We felt like we lived there for awhile because we were there for so long lol. The modern look and feel of this hotel impressed us so much. There is brand new carpeting. The furniture appeared new and the hardwood floors were beautiful. I loved the purple wall! The bathroom was very nice and newly renovated as well. The room felt and looked clean and fresh when we arrived. The room felt really big too. Being there for 2 weeks, we felt comfortable with the amount of space we had. Overall this is a fantastic hotel and the staff we encountered were very friendly. All around, a below average place to stay. Starting from the outside.... the parking lot had trash, the landscaping needed some major attention, and the trash can was overfilled. Walked inside and it smelt like burnt popcorn. The lady at the front desk was nice and very attentive though. Got to our room and within 30 min found numerous questionable areas. This location seemed like it was run down prior to the La Quinta remodels that are happening. And still seems rundown with some spotty patchwork. We won't be staying here again. read more

Cons: * Water pressure could have been better, and water was warm but not hot even on hottest setting. * some of the tv channels would freeze and become pixelated like it was trying to buffer. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot, I got a bad vibe from this place. Things only got worse. The front desk receptionist was nice, but that was about it. The common area hallways, walls, floors, doors.... pretty much every single surface was filthy. The reason we booked this hotel is because we are moving out of state and needed a place to stay the night with our dog. The receptionist indicated that the "animal suite" was on the third floor. Room 301 to be precise. The carpet leading to the elevator was stained, the elevator itself looked like you could get tetanus from touching it. Then I walked into room 301, the king two room executive suite. Upon walking into the room you are immediately smack in the nostrils with the odor of cat pee. There is still cat hair covering the pull out sofa on which my child is supposed to sleep. The mini fridge had spills in it that were never cleaned, the urine soaked wood is disintegrating, and the trash can still has someone else's trash in it. I thought maybe this room didn't get cleaned then I saw the bed had been made and there were new packages of soap. I turned down the covers to see the state of the bed and that was the final straw. There were red stains all over the sheets and duvet. My husband and I repacked up our kids and dog and left. We cancelled our room and chose to go back and sleep on the bare floors of our house as opposed to staying the night there. If you have COVID concerns stay far far away from this place. If you have concerns about bed bugs or any other communicable diseases, do not stay here. read more

My friend and I wanted to check out Austin, Texas this fall and see a Longhorns football game. I saw online that prices on hotels in the city were surprisingly expensive so I looked into staying somewhere close by. On Hotwire I saw a three star hotel located in the the Kyle/Buda area for &65 a night and I decided it was worth the look. This La Quinta Inn was what it turned out to be and it worked well. The hotel is fairly new, built within the last few years and is in terrific shape. The rooms were very clean here and the staff was nice. It is also pet friendly, something that I noticed while we were there. They offer the usual free breakfast foods in the mornings and have free wireless internet that worked very well. The location of the hotel is only about 15-20 minutes south of downtown Austin, about the same to the Austin airport, too. We also drove down to San Antonio one evening and it is a little less than one hour each way. San Marcos is about 10 minutes down the road as well, if you are checking out Texas State University. The only odd thing about the place is if you are coming from the north. When you exit 35, you go over the freeway towards the hotel, which you can see, but you have to drive around the area and snake through a residential neighborhood to get just south of the hotel because it is located on a one way street. I think I explained that as best I could here, it is very confusing! read more

AVOID. We stayed at this location for three nights as part of a wedding party. They put us in a handicap room on the first floor because my grandmother would have a easier time with a handicap bathroom. The room was very dark. The building design was just dark in general. Had to turn all the lights on in every room to see anything. The bathroom FLOODED. Not the way is was supposed to in a handicap shower. It flooded the floor in the bathroom, out into the room hall, the hall closet, and even to the carpet! A inch of water you had to stand in the bathroom to do anything. The room was super musty and mold spelling when we walked in and the carpet was moist and nasty. We bought this to the attention to the hotel and we did get a nice women who just kept apologizing. They couldn't move us until the next night. But we couldn't sleep because the mold spell was so bad. We looked and found BLACK MOLD all over the trim in the closet, and around the bathroom. We showed it to them, but they didn't seem to be bothered by it. It wasn't a little mold, IT WAS A LOT OF MOLD. They wanted to comp us 5% for our trouble. Unacceptable. The next night, they had that same room rented out again! This place as multiple health code violations I can easily tell. The quality of this place otherwise is not very good. The pillows are as flat as pancakes, the bedding is very thing and uncomfortable and rough. The rooms, like I said ARE VERY, VERY DARK. Even with the window open, hard to see doing make up or anything! No fans in the bathroom, so they steam up and escape into your room and make everything very moist. The "Free Wifi" is soooo slow. The signal is weak all over the building, hardly get one or two 'bars' of signal. When you are connect it is less than 1megabit per second. Takes upwards of 20-30 seconds just to look at a email. I would avoid this place. It is not even very cheap. At least with a cheap place you get this kinda crap. Check out other places if you are in the area. A few bucks more is better than that. read more

Wireless didn't work and when I brought it to the attention of the front desk worker they acted like it was my computers fault and pointed me towards their "business center." The computer there didn't connect either confirming it wasn't my computer but rather their network. I told the front desk worker this and she said, I'll let someone know. Very disappointing. The next morning I was awoken by several (more than 2) dogs barking two doors down. I don't know why any hotel would allow a guest to bring that many dogs and not regulate the noise. I have been to la Quinta in Mexico they are always clean , very friendly but this one well.. when they gave me the key and went to the room there was dirt on the carpet and floor they didn't have soap to wash your hands in the restroom and there was trash in the trash can. I called front desk and ask did they clean the room they said yes and asked why I said well there is clumps of dirt on the floor he said let me check. He came and said well I checked this room before giving it to you, I said well look at the dirt, we don't have dirt on our shoes there is trash and you don't have soap to wash our hands. The guy said well I can't give you another room we are booked but I will vacuum again so you can see it's clean, he came with the vacuum and started vacuuming and you can hear the dirt being picked up in the vacuum all over the room, I said you see and told him about the soap again and he said send someone and I'll give it to them. Another thing was I guy coming and knocking the door at 7:30 am yelling house cleaning when check out time is at 11 am and I said we don't need any thank you and another lady came at 9am . This was a pretty okay hotel! A good budget buy. The walls here are super thin, and our neighbor chose to listen to their TV really loudly, so we could hear every word. I went out to the little store to try to buy earplugs, and they didn't sell them. I asked the front desk if they had any and explained why I needed them, and the lady actually laughed at me. I was not impressed by that. There was also tissue shoved in the peep hole, which feels like something housekeeping probably should have caught... I did like the waffles at breakfast and loved that they offered peanut butter, but the eggs were inedible and the fruit was bruised and in some cases moldy. The breakfast hostess was very friendly and kept everything stocked, though. Overall, I would stay there again if I was traveling through and it was most convenient, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to stay there. read more

I've stayed here a total of four times, each time it has progressively gotten worse. The cleanliness of the rooms has declined. The sheets are scratchy and feel as if they've been used for longer than their shelf life. Bathroom tubs are dingy, but it's not well lit so at least it's not super obvious... It's a hit or miss to whether the pool will be cleaned or the hot tub working. The front desk is unhelpful and unapologetic for issues (be it wifi, pool, room problems and/or collecting something accidentally left behind). The price is way too high for what you get. This is my third stay in a La Quinta this year and honestly everyone of them has been a regret. You would think I would have learned my lesson already... I would choose any other place in the San Marcos/Kyle area. Not worth it here. read more

Long story short, we had booked a room here as part of a block of rooms reserved for a wedding. Due to the amount of people that reserved rooms on time and those that waited till the last minute (no names mentioned, cough), the hotel was short some rooms for some of the days. However the staff rose to the occasion and accommodated everyone of the wedding guests without complaint. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Batteries in the remote had almost died so I had to get out of bed to get close enough to change channels. It's cool, I need the exercise. We also had a stale smoke smell in our room that came from the bathroom. The hotel staff worked diligently to locate the hotel patron violating the no smoking policy. They even put an ozone machine in our room to remove the smell. While the stay was riddled with issues, the staff did a very good job. Everytime I walked in or left the hotel I was made to feel special. No vacation/trip will ever be without issues/problems/setbacks but I was very impressed with how professionally the staff acted in each situation. I would give 5 stars but the hot tub was out of order. That being said, of course it's Texas so the pool was like a hot tub anyway. :-) A huge shout out to the lovely lady that did the breakfast every morning. It's impossible to have a bad day when that smiling face is your first interaction. read more

Just a one night stay. We had a wedding that was very close. Was fine for the evening with two little ones but when I woke up late to use the restroom found three little cockroaches which was disturbing.
