The Comfort Suites Southpark were not "comforting". I only provided 2 stars because breakfast was provided and the meal was decent. Regarding the room -- The room we were provided is in need of TLC. The picture frame on the wall was cracked. There were McDs fries next to the bed. The fries were there for awhile because of the condition. The A/C vent was cracked and upon further inspection on our last day a filter change is needed. One of the comforters had red dot stains. We moved it to the side and didn't use this bed. The window curtains have stains. Once we closed the curtains, we didn't re-open because of the stains. I didn't take a picture of the elevator --- it is in desperate need of an overhaul. I am thankful we didn't spend much time in the room due to the conference we were attending. Staff very nonchalant in resolving issues. read more

I travel a lot for work, and when I am in the area I prefer this hotel because of the staff and the fact that it is surrounded by everything that you could need! They are absolutely amazing, especially at the front desk. Daisy, who works at the front desk, is so accommodating. It is obvious that the employees enjoy their job and that is rare to find these days. The staff are super friendly and definitely go above and beyond to make sure that guests are taken care of. We stayed here on the 4th of July!!! My most favorite part of the stay was the convenience of having a balcony lakeside view suite which was the perfect view for the fireworks. The prices are great $$. They offer hot breakfast every morning for free. Parking is good. This hotel is near a lot of shopping, a mall and restaurants. My least favorite thing was the cleanliness of the pool area. They have a nice pool and jacuzzi but it doesn't look like the area is very well maintained. Floors needed sweeping and the paint on walls are peeling. They don't have room service but do offer a list of local restaurants that do deliver . Overall I would stay again .... for the price the pool wasn't a make or break deal. read more

We stayed two nights on points. We pulled up and the front desk person was hanging out in the lobby on his phone. He got back to the desk when he saw us pull up. We walked in and he never greeted us, just pretended to be working on the computer. Finally looks up and says "checking in?". Never speaks to us other than to say ""ID?" And our room number. Read my review of Comfort Suites South Chesterfield to know why this really didn't set well and the explanation of how we ended up here. Went to our room - pretty clean, candy from housekeeping, new towels and bedding. Normal room amenities. The hotel was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Negatives (besides check-in): 1. Breakfast was just not good. The meat was ham (and maybe turkey) cold cuts. Odd. We joked the whole time "ham slice with that?" Lol. An odd assortment the day we ate. 2. Keys stopped working in middle of stay. Front desk interrupted me to say it was after 11 so of course they didn't work...so I interrupted her to say but I check out TOMORROW. Then she blamed it on check in person. Which I believe lol. Ironically next person after me had same issue!! Also, housekeeping let my husband and daughter in while I was downstairs with no security measure. Kind of strange. Should you appreciate it or be concerned? 3. Indoor pool. I made the mistake of not looking at it BEFORE 6 yr old put on her suit. . Took her and it was gross. Filmy substance floating and very cloudy. NOPE. Ended up having to take her to see Goosebumps 2 to make up for it A so so experience. We've decided no more Choice hotels. Back to Hilton or HI properties. read more

The good: very friendly staff, spacious room, huge walk-in shower, clean, nice hot breakfast. The bad: my room was next to the laundry room and they allow guests to do laundry at all hours of the night. Someone did their laundry from about 2-4 a.m. and it started again around 6:30. This is ludicrous. How do they expect anyone to sleep through that? There needs to be a door to the laundry room that is locked during late evening hours. Also, huge gap between window shades and sill, allowing street lamp light to shine directly into room. The toilets flush with extreme force and you can hear them flushing every few seconds in the morning. Biggest complaint is not getting sleep while laundry being done. Makes zero sense. read more

I would highly recommend to stay away from this place. Stayed the night here on a mon night and left tues morning. Upon my arrival home I realized I forgot my work phone. Tues - I called the hotel to see if a phone was turned in, Kayla the employee, told me a phone was found but she wouldn't be able to verify because it was locked up somewhere she did not have access. She told me she'd call me back the next day. Wed - I called back to see if the phone that was turned in was mine, I spoke to a different employee and they stated no phone was turned in. At this point there's two conflicting stories. Thurs - I speak with the general manager and from the moment I speak with her she has an attitude. She told me there was no way for Kayla to verify if a phone was turned in or not because of the time I called. So I asked her if Kayla blatantly lied to me. I asked her this question 3x and she was unable to answer me, didn't offer any solutions, and just kept reiterating there was no phone. Clearly she had no desire in helping me. The communication between the staff was so horrendous and was ultimately a complete waste of time. read more

Wow... Outstanding Staff members in a Great Hotel!! I would like to start off by saying that the manager of this hotel, Ms. Toomer is Wonderful. She was great with assisting me in arranging and organizing rooms for the family this Thanksgiving week. Now, that I arrived at the hotel I realized how beautiful it is here. I was greeted by Ms. Jenn... This young lady's smile was warm and welcoming after arriving from a long frustrating day of travel this is what I needed to see. Ms. Jenn 's friendliness and professionalism helped my check-in process to be smooth and quick. My king-size suite with a balcony is Amazing!! They have remodeled this room and replaced everything with new items. Plus I'm able to see the lake with ducks, a nice view. This hotel is close to everything! Walmart, Burlington Coat Factory, Target, Chick-fil-A ,Burger King, McDonald's and Olive Garden. Just to name a couple. It is also an exit 53 right off 95. Thanks to Ms. Jenn . I wish I could give Ms. Jenn a rating higher then 5 stars. Because I think she a perfect 10!! Ms. Oogla and Ms. Olympia are the other two ladies at the hotel which help me assisted me with extra items for my room. Ms. Bianca is a lovely lady whose in charge of breakfast. We enjoyed our stay. It was clean and comfortable enough. Our only criticism of the property would be the fact that there were no towel bars on which to hang our towels in the bathroom and the one chair in the room, a leather-like swivel, rolling desk chair appeared to have been shredded by a wild cat! read more

If you are at fort lee area for tdy stay somewhere else! Area is better than Petersburg but this hotel is horrible. My keys continuously stop working, the WiFi is horrible, my room was very unclean. (As seen in photos) when I first got into the room the sink would not drain. House keeping would move furniture in the room to make the bed but not move it back. Overall would never come back to this hotel or any comfort suites in the future. read more

Kind of expensive for this type of place, I'm guessing it's the area. The room was very clean I liked the shower set up parking is good as well. Nothing bad to say about this place other than the price per night even though I get the government discount. I also enjoy the fact they give you about 5 towels, hand towels extra blankets and sheets so that's a big plus for me. read more

Wow! The suite is beautiful. We have been welcomed from the moment of checkin all the way to our room even by the cleaning staff-who were very courteous and jovial. The room is enormous and homely. It feels like a $1000 room for only around $140. The only complaint would be I wish all my last hotel stays were like this! (That is of course other hotel chains). Update, we had breakfast....delicious. The staff member was very helpful and courteous- it was almost like eating at Grandma's. Maybe not as good but not bad. read more

False advertising! Last night I called their number to make a reservation for tonight (Sept 15, 2018). They use a centralized reservations desk, probably in a foreign country. I'm guessing India from the accent. I had to ask the person to repeat almost every sentence in order to understand him, and I had to repeat myself several times for him to understand me. I told him that I had pets. I arrived at the hotel at 9pm after a full day of driving, only to be told they don't allow pets. I told the clerk it says "pet-friendly" on the google profile. I've got to be honest my first impressions of this hotel when I found out my work booked this location were extremely low. However, once I checked into the room and entered, it wasn't bad at all. The rooms themselves have all been recently renovated with new bathrooms, granite counters, showers, etc. They didn't touch the hallways and doors, so I didn't know what to expect when I opened that door. The best part though is the staff. Very accommodating and helpful, they even let me use the grill that was out front! This hotel is where I stay EVERY time I come to work in the area! The ones that I know by name are: Cheryl (the Manager), Teresa and Christie (front desk). They are absolutely the BEST! They do EVERYTHING to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible! IF you have any issues at all (which, if you do, it is likely that they are unaware of it), all you have to do is notify them and they will fix it right away. The housekeeping staff is phenomenal as well! I have NEVER had an issue with a room being dirty in any sense of the word. Everything is spotless as the day it was made! The beds are more comfortable than that of my own (don't tell my wife lol). The pillows are great as well. All the mirrors are spotless. The toilets (which I frequent from time to time) are super clean and I believe that they could flush a bowling ball down, given the chance! With all this said, I feel I must give the showers an honorable mention. Of course they are spotless, as well. The larger suites boast a shower that you could throw a party in! They have two shower heads. The smaller suites have a shower that is about half to a third of the size and are quite spacious for anyone, like me, that may do some shower singing from time to time. I love this hotel and the people that work here! Everyone that works here are all courteous and thoughtful with every encounter. They have yet to let me down and I am sure that they will show anyone else the same courtesy. read more

Hands down the worst experience I've had at any hotel in a LONG time. We came in, and after some wait, we checked in. We were given the key to someone else's room, and walked in on them in a..state of undress. We went down to the front desk. No one was there, so after looking around, we found the ONE front desk person (Andria) eating dinner with her husband in the lounge. She came up, and acting huffy as if we'd interrupted HER. Her husband then came up to my dad and I, and began yelling at us in a very threatening manner. He finally left the hotel, and she gave us a key...to the room NEXT DOOR to the one we'd just been wrongly assigned to. Horrible experience. I travel a lot--I'm comfort platinum and marriott platinum. I'll be sticking at Marriott's from now on. read more

I've been here for 5 nights and have only good things to say about this hotel and it's staff. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. While the hotel is a tad old, they've made some good updates where they could. Breakfast in the morning has been great (and free!), fresh omelettes made this morning - good breakfast variety. Big TVs in the rooms and lots of cable channels. Free internet which is always a plus. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. Staff was professional and helpful. Always kind, always said good morning/good evening/hello/etc. Definitely recommend this hotel if your staying in the area. read more

This was a hotel selected as an over flow hotel by my fraternity for a weekend event we held in Colonial Heights. I was not impressed at all by this hotel. I only came into the lobby area and one of the meeting rooms they had. The chairs were not comfortable AT ALL. I noticed a odd smell in the lobby. Maybe like a old dirty mop smell. The meeting room had coffee cups and water cups set up but no coffee or water. I had a reservation her but canceled it after seeing the lobby. read more

We arrived from NJ around 11pm. It took a while to be checked in. I forgot our pack 'n play at home and was hoping that Comfort Suites would have one; we've stayed at hotels that have had them. Comfort Suites did not. Sofa bed mattress was very thin, springy, and uncomfortable. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, potatoes, toast, English muffins, bagels, muffins, cereal, juices, and coffee. Just didn't feel like the value of our stay matched with what we paid. read more

I waited an hour just to check in. I thought it was a decent hotel until I got charged an extra 250 (for one night on top of the 111 for the room) for a smoking fee when I've never smoked. I called to resolve the issue, the manager didn't call back, but the associate Justin was so incredibly understanding and helpful. I would stay just for his customer service. Unfortunately I can't trust or respect the company, so I have to only rate it one star. read more

The bathroom was literally falling apart in places - wall paper was peeling, grout was gross, the piece of wood under the sink was out of position, the tub was stained, the drain was hanging out. Arriving at this location the staff was nice and also friendly. Helpful with making sure we had everything that we needed as we arrived at around 11pm. Day 2 of my stay I started having bites which I figured it was from outside. Day 4 a few bed bugs crawling in the bed made me realize we're the bites came from. Worst part of this was going downstairs to talk to the front desk staff and being told nothing can be done until the manager arrives. Desk clerk asked for my number so the manager could call me since I had to work. While picking up my bags my room had been stripped of all bedding and mattresses. Rooms and facilities overall show a lot of wear: stained carpets and wallpaper, banged-up common areas, elevator missing all interior trim, stairwell doors don't latch. Room was clean enough and free breakfast buffet was ok, certainly better than typical Holiday Inn Express-type fare. Suspect you can do be better for similar money at close-by Holiday inn, Hampton or other. read more

I just left Colonial Heights yesterday after a 3 night stay because I was going to see if I liked Richmond well enough to pull up roots and move there. Well, sad to say, that is a no, but....I really enjoyed my stay at Comfort Suites. I don't understand the check in at 3:00 pm and out by 11:00 am because it is not a full day, but I digress. I arrived early because I had traveled from Memphis by plane and had been up literally all night. Kristina was the one handling my check in. I kindly asked if there was any way I could go ahead and get in because I had been up and had driven an extra 2 hours to get to the hotel but unfortunately my room wasn't clean. Needless to say, she accommodated me and provided me with a room just a few minutes ahead of time. She was so gracious in providing me extra blankets for my family because I love having the room at Alaska temp when I sleep and she also assisted in getting the sofa bed comfortable enough for a couple nights stay. Kristina is totally awesome. As for everything else, the room was a little dated but with guests constantly coming in and out I guess that's to be expected. The sheets were clean, the cleaning crew cleaned and I just can't find anything negative to say. The breakfast was as expected. The little lady at breakfast time was quick to assist me with making a waffle, even though I knew what to do, but I welcomed her assistance. I did notice others not as welcoming to her, but anyway, the breakfast was good. I would recommend a stay here and I would stay here again, but since I won't be back to Virginia, I probably won't. read more

This hotel is not up to par with most comfort suite's I've been to. Room was musty and door on bathroom was rotted and paint was peeling off. Shower curtain was falling off wall and let water go all over floor of tiny bathroom. Hotel shows age with a very cheap remodeling. There were teenagers running around in and outside of hotel till very late 2/3 am. When got up in morning going to breakfest saw a young man sleeping in hallway outside of elevator. The hotel is old and you can tell. They've made some updates but not enough. The cable doesn't have Fox, CBS, or ABC. I can't imagine a cable package lacking almost all of the major networks. I asked for a room away from the elevators and got one right next to them. The staff is very friendly but the front desk worker didn't tell me my room number (it was not written on the key envelope) and I was also not told where the elevator was, it's all the way down the hall, another guest told me when he saw me looking around. This hotel may be $20 cheaper a night than others in the same area, but I'll be paying that extra $20 next time, it's worth it. read more

A friend & I stayed for 1 night on Thanksgiving. I have stayed here before & booked again due to the location (close to my parents), the size of the room and the price. I give this hotel 3 stars due to the front desk service upon check-in. We were not greeted as we walked in...only a 'do you have a reservation?' Well...why else would I be there! Then she asked my friend if she was with me. Totally unprofessional. I'm sorry if you were upset you had to work, but that does not give you the right to treat customers this way. RUN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TOWARDS A DIFFERENT HOTEL! This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. We reserved a room for Thanksgiving. Checked in at 1230. Staff was indifferent and didn't seem to care to answer questions. We left to have Thanksgiving dinner with family (me, my wife and 3 kids under 6 years old). Came back around 7 pm. Nothing has been updated since the building was built, beds feel like military style cots, and room was missing the normal compliment of toiletries. We had problems with the television. The screen was zoomed in so you can't see what channel the shows were on, couldn't adjust the zoom, and guess what... they didn't have a channel list on paper. My wife called the front desk and the guy said they couldn't do anything. Couldn't fix it, won't swap the TV, and won't switch our room. The man at the front desk (Que) said that we could be refunded for the room after 3 to 5 business days. In the 15 minutes it took to gather our things and walk down to the lobby, he then said we could not be refunded. He called his manager (Jonathan Brown) who also refused to refund us our money. This place is an absolute disgrace. Staff do not care about customers. I'm shocked they're still in business. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra 20 bucks and go to the Hilton right down the street. read more
