Our aging parents hired this company for siding, having used them in the past for windows and doors, and were initially satisfied. But when we reached out for help with a small bump-out addition that affected the siding they installed, we were ignored for over three weeks. When they finally responded, they refused to assist and wouldn't even sell us matching siding. Our parents were sold premium products despite being on a fixed income and likely only staying in their home for a few more years. We are doing an addition to allow them the ability to stay in their home due to safety issues. We believe they took advantage of our parents and showed a complete lack of regard for customer loyalty and basic decency. We will be reporting this experience to the Better Business Bureau and sharing it publicly to warn others. If you value integrity and customer care, look elsewhere. read more

Had every window replaced. The are just as crafty as the old. Replacement windows are advertised to be energy efficient. They are not. Advertising gimmick..bait and switch. The way to have stopped the draft would have been to take the molding off and spray insulation around the inside casement. Replacement windows cost 38k. For nothing. High fuel bills.. total waste of money. They just add a thing strip of fiberglass and call that insulation.. dont be fooled or get sucked into the sales pitch..save your money​ read more

Worst company - don't hire them! We have had nothing but defects on our siding since the install in 2020. They refuse to come out and correct their work. I wish I could post pictures to show the poor work and I wish I could give them less than one star! Obviously over the years there have been minor incidents with one or two of the windows and they have 100% stood behind their warranty and simply replaced ANY window with an issue ( rather than trying to repair it). I was astounded to find out they pulled up my original order on computer and simply made a new window based on the original measurements. BRAVO! read more

Do not use this company for house siding. The life-time warranty will be void by "weather", even when the siding is installed poorly in the snowbelt of Oswego County. Comfort had to completely remove the siding from my house and garage after the first install because the materials were defective. My house sat "naked" for weeks waiting for the second install. The second install, with upgraded materials, was also completed poorly. Not one week passed when the siding began to pop off the house due to heat expansion and normal wind. Almost every bit of wind, causes the siding to rattle in places, and it continues to rattle. To the credit of Comfort, they would send a repair guy to fix the problems. He told me that Comfort was aware that my house was "a bad install" and that the installers no longer work for the company. Most recently, cracks developed in the siding (only a few years old) and it continues to pop off the house. However, Comfort representative told me that my warranty is void because of weather, and they offered to send someone to give me an estimate for the repairs. Note that earlier, the Comfort repair guy left an entire box of siding in my garage because he anticipated future repairs due to the poor installation. So, beware of Comfort for siding your house. You will never know the real quality of the materials until they are installed, it's a revolving door of installers, and the "lifetime" warranty is only good until the wind blows. Use a different contractor. Any other contractor would be better. read more

Comfort did two exterior doors for us. The quality of the work was excellent, though they are a little pricey.

I'm having problems with with rain seeping behind my siding and I called Comfort Window to have them come out and take a look at it and they wanted to charge me $175 service fee. We paid $10,000.00 to comfort windows and I can put plastic on my windows and it expands tremendously. Our window whistle. We have had numerous problems and visits with Rochester and Syracuse and they cannot resolve the problem. Its poor install and they wont admit or fix the problem. I can put a candle up to the window and you can see the flame being blown aside and a smile stick they used sucked it out the windows or when wind was blowing blew it into the house. The windows suck. We live on the lake and loose heat like you wouldnt believe when the wind blows. If these are guaranteed for life, we were fooled and they suck. Final update: Following numerous phone calls and reviews, Comfort Windows offered to perform complete replacement of the window units at no charge. Following discussions, I decided to upgrade the window units and paid a small fee. Several weeks later the windows were installed, by a much more professional crew, to my satisfaction. However, I explained to the crew, that at the time of the first installation, a manager had to return to adjust window seal as they leaked during a rain storm. The crew assured me they were aware of the problem, and that the windows were properly adjusted. The next rain, two of the windows leaked. I contacted Comfort Windows Supervisor, John, who immediately responded and arranged to come the next day and investigate. Turns out, the installation crew had not properly made final adjustments in the window frame, causing the leak. John made the adjustments, and now following several relatively strong rain storms, no leaks. While this has been an irritating and frustrating process, I can say that Comfort Windows has made an assertive effort to correct problems and issues incurred during initial installation. read more

To the owner of Comfort windows: It's a shame that you won't speak to me by phone. You took the side of your lazy sales staff in Buffalo without even hearing my side of the story. Your salesman Darryl Whitcomb is lying about being abused. Is it abusive if you ask for a different salesman that will stand by his quote and earn his commission? I think not. He gave me a quote and I have copies of the text messages and when I called him out on the increase he said I was abusive. Never once did I curse or berate him. He just didn't want to be told he is not doing his job. That's what you should be doing as well instead of hiding from your customers. I have found another company but I won't stop telling everyone I can not to use Comfort Windows. Plus an apology was necessary from Bill Bower your sales manager in Buffalo for leaving a nasty voice message for my mother who is undergoing cancer treatment at Roswell . I used Comfort Windows for a NON Window Project The outcome was CRIMINAL , Still I cant believe it happened to me The basics ... They did a project for me, They contracted the job out, I knew within 1 hr that they were NOT part of Comfort windows .. but it was to late I signed contract. the job was horrible I payed way way to much , they did not use the normal materials but very sub standard. I was even missing my step ladder from my garage they were the only ones that week to use my garage, In their commercials on T.V. they say something like we do not use contractors ... I was initially impressed by the product and knowledge at a booth Comfort Windows had at the NYS Fair and I was in the market for replacement windows and arranged for an estimate. During a period spanning seven weeks, the salesman made statements that he had emailed me information that he claimed I must have never received but he could never document was actually sent; he advised me he would call me or email me something by the end of the day and days later, I was following up with him to request the status of the information he never sent. I finally reached out to the Production Manager of the Syracuse facility and he was apologetic and was going to talk to the salesman the next day and call me the next day and assured me, "I am going to make this right". I waited three business days and no response at which point, I decided to move on to other options for replacement windows. If they are this dishonest in their customer service dealings, it makes you wonder how honest they are about their product, production and installation. I'd exercise caution in dealing with this vendor as you'd likely be making an expensive decision you'd regret. P.S. I've noticed from recent online post that the company used to be committed to great customer service but recent post have documented a trend of poor customer service and an increase in customer complaints. read more

To say that I am completely disappointed with this company is an understatement. I have a basement bathroom project with them. I have everything finalized almost 3 months in advance and I was promised by the sales agent Mike Lovejoy that it will be done by August 20 since I have guests arriving. I had to call/text him multiple times to follow up only to get a response a few days after. At one point I have to call their manager since he was not returning my calls. And if he calls back he sounds completely arrogant. To make things worst, I got a a call from the project manager that the project wont get started even by August 20. He says there was a miscommunication between the sales and project department. He gave me a tentative date around September 3 but I doubt it since as of now, I havent heard from them again. I was fuming at this time. I called Mike Lovejoy again and at this point he has nothing to say. He says he will try to talk to someone but never heard from him again. He even told me that he was giving me a favor answering my call as he is on vacation. He even had the nerve to question me that had I been on vacation and a patient calls me would I answer the call! Talk about professionalism. All his comments were very uncalled for. He did not even once apologize for is behavior or for all of this. The only person decent enough to talk to me and apologize is the project manager who is willing to give me a discount of 400 for the "inconvenience ". I am not the type to complain and be negative. But this is unacceptable. Mike Lovejoy is a total unprofessional and not fit to be in customer service. My point is had I known it wont be done by that time I would have looked for a different contractor. Plain and simple. I do not in any way recommend this company if you have alternatives. read more

I am looking to put vinyl siding on my house. Comfort Windows was one of four vendors who provided a quote. The quote I received was $12-15,000 more than the other three. All vendors quoted the same size (# of squares). I asked for a breakdown of labor and materials. I told the salesperson I needed to understand how they arrived at their number. I was told that they [comfort windows] does not do that. He would have to get manager approval. I was told they are the best (by a salesperson) which I took with a grain of salt. Expensive does not equate to being the best. The salesperson was prompt and courteous. The presentation of the quote was friendly. I did not receive a cost breakdown. It is a fair question any consumer should request and receive. One unnerving action by the salesperson was when I questioned how they determined they were the best. He left for a couple moments and came back with a multi-player document containing hundreds of addresses of satisfied customers. He said I could take it with me and contact any of them. Having references is good but giving a bundle of customer information to a relative stranger shows a lack of concern for customer privacy and security. I do not believe that high price equates to good quality. I have no reason to doubt they do good work. I would wonder why they wouldn't give labor and material breakdown. Give them your own shot. Maybe the pricing you receive will be better. read more

The installation of 8 interior doors, and 1 set of exterior French doors took more than a year to complete. We specified plantation style interior doors with louvers on the top half to aid with air flow so we could effectively heat the entire home with our wood stove. On the first try, all but 2 doors had the louvers oriented the wrong way so one could see directly into each of the bedrooms. On a return visit the 2 plantation doors downstairs were also ordered backwards. At some point I started to refer to their return visits as Part 2, 3, etc., in my calendar, and I believe we finally ended at Part 5. In all, it took 5 separate visits over the course of more than a year to finally get everything done correctly. At one point they left an interior door hung that wouldn't close all the way due to binding. Since that was our laundry room, and our dog has an appetite for dirty socks, that was a fun couple of months. The installers themselves are pretty spot on, and all seemed like great guys. However the sales and management process was akin to an ongoing nightmare. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, under any circumstances whatsoever. We have some windows that need replacing in the near future, and I can guarantee we will not be asking Comfort Windows for a quote. read more

Hey, Thanks for sending me this chance to review and rate your service. I have had a bunch of home improvements done over the last few years. I had you guys (Comfort) in a number of years ago to quote on a project. The problem I had at the time was that Comfort's price was just a little higher and the company I went with assured me they had the same quality workmanship and products. After the other company completed the work... (using the term completed loosely) I had nothing but problems. I called the other company and they told me to call the manufacturer. What a nightmare that turned into. This time the Comfort quote was still just under 4% higher than the next competitor but everything I have read told me to give Comfort a try. So I did! WOW ! is all I can say. I have never seen a construction crew as organized as your guys. The workers were friendly and polite. I didn't hear any swearing like I did with the other company. When the Comfort guys completed the job they walked me around the entire project showing me exactly what they did and why. I was amazed at the finish work, even the calk joints looked perfect unlike the other company who smeared calk everywhere. I am so thankful that I selected Comfort and cant wait to have you back in the spring for the next project we have in mind. Lastly, the guy Chris who came out to estimate this job, I guess he is a salesperson. He was just great... he was here for quite some time and answered every question we had. And, it made us feel really good that he didn't pressure us to sign that night! But why wait, we signed on that night and have never been happier with a home improvement decision. Thanks read more

Summary: Positives: - All staff were very professional and focused. When they were "on the clock" with me, they were focused on me (and not taking calls, etc.) They showed me my time was valuable. - Window product looks great, and when installed by Comfort has an unbeatable warranty. Something goes wrong, they are only a phone call away. - Windows sure beat what they replaced - Can tell that the glass is Low-E blocking out solar radiation from heating up the living room on a sunny summer morning. - Installation crew has definitely "done it before" - our foreman had 20+ years experience with Comfort. - Managed to find a piece of interior panel board to "style match" 40 year old panel board... can barely tell the difference! - Siding matched existing siding very well. Can barely tell that side of the house ever might have looked different. Negatives: - Management should be respectful of the time a salesperson is meeting with a customer. If "priorities" need to be negotiated, do it in private. - Comfort is always (or very frequently) running "time limited" deals. They will use this as a push tactic to "encourage" you to sign on before the cut-off time. Be ready for this if you are still on the fence. - Discount application is a little underhanded. For example, attending the open house would get you an additional 5% discount. But this is not 20%+5%, this is 5% additional off the total after the original advertised discount. - Communication between the office, installation crew, and customer could be improved. We had a few surprises and miscommunications. - Estimated time from signed contract to actual install was 50% longer than the upper end of the original estimate. - Additional care could be taken with interior finishing materials to prevent scuffs and scratches. read more

Comfort Windows did an excellent job installing a glass sliding door in my house. They were professional, tidy, and very affordable for what I needed done. They were very helpful in explaining the different options to me and made the whole process very easy on me. My parents (who live in Rochester) also used them for an Energy Audit and then eventually insulation (or whatever that is called). They said the Sales Manager out there was attentive and that the workers arrived on time and cleaned up well every single day. I would agree 100% with list of pluses and minuses as listed by previous rater. We just got some windows replaced by Comfort. Great product and very professional installation. Crew was very good. A bit weak on communication from main office about scheduling. But responsive when contacted. A bit pricey, with lots of flex in price, so be sure to bargain. Salesman was a tad bit pushy. As far as quality they certainly seemed to be top notch, and the salesman was very knowledgeable. Prices seemed a little high, but i would be willing to pay more for top quality, and they did offer cheaper options as well. I had originally called them for what i thought was a no pressure ESTIMATE, however after the measuring when the salesman came over, he drew up some quotes and we started down the buying road. What really got to me is when i asked for some time to think about it, he basically said no... Long story short i basically got pushed into the purchase, to which i promptly mailed the cancellation form in the following day after i had time to think (that time i asked the salesman for) and got my deposit back no questions asked. As far as quality and craftsmanship, i have no complaints, their sales and tactics.....well, that's where they earned their two stars. read more

This is an update to a review I wrote in July. At the time we were very unhappy with our bathroom remodel. I posted a list of the items that were not satisfactory and how communication was difficult. Since then however Comfort Windows has stood by its policy of 100% satisfaction guarantee or they come back and fix it until you are. They addressed all the issues and even gave us a shower door for our inconvenience. I am very impressed with their determination to make it right and will definitely consider them for future work. We chose Comfort Windows because they had the product we were looking for. We wanted to replace the old screens on our screenporch but not make it a sunroom. After my original post, I received a phone call from Joe at Comfort Windows saying that if I took my post down they would come and fix the broken window and waive the $65 service charge. I agreed that I would write an update after the window was fixed. It was done today, took all of ten minutes and I we were not given a bill. I am very satisfied with the windows and I have now learned that after 10 years the warranty only applies to the windows themselves and that there is a service charge for them coming out to fix the problem. read more

Total amount spent $10,000 Ratings 0-10 Customer Service - 0 Install - 5 Follow-up & Resolution - 2 Product - 9 We chose Comfort Windows because they give the best warranty and we were happy with the quality of their product that we were presented. First complaint is that they were scheduled to come out and give an estimate. Instead, our salesman Bob wrote up contracts. When we were done getting our "estimate" he asked us to sign the paperwork and that they could be installed within 6-8 weeks. We assumed we were asked to sign an estimate as agreed upon work to be done for said price. Never did Bob state that we were signing a contract. Comfort Windows and Doors is SO sneaky that they put the terms of the contract on the BACK of the paperwork you are signing. We advised Bob we wanted a few estimates. He bad mouthed every other company out there. That's just plain old dirty. Second complaint is when we tried calling the Buffalo location about our windows. No return calls. We actually had to go to the Buffalo location to force someone to talk to us. Joe Schaus, the Buffalo Sales Manager told us that we signed a contract and that in NYS were only had 3 days to back out of a contract. Again, incredibly poor customer service. We explained to him that we thought we were getting an estimate and that our financing did not allow for us to do all the work at one time. He finally gave in and voided the contract. We reluctantly agreed to have Bob come out again to give another estimate based on what work would be done based on priority and funding. Bob came out again and give us 4 more contracts. Third complaint is that Comfort Windows NEVER called us to schedule an install date. We had to call them. They scheduled it for about two weeks out. The installers showed up that day and on time. There was no reminder call a day or so before. Our salesman Bob also said that we didn't have to do anything that they do everything. The installers informed me that all curtains had to be down and everything out of the way. It would have been more convenient if they let us know that on the phone so it could have been done the night before. As it turns out, while signing so much paperwork with our salesman Bob, we did sign a piece of paper, which they left us no copy of, that stated we had to take care of those things. Bob zipped right through EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF PAPER and quickly said "all this says is... and sign here and here." After having Bob in our home for more than two hours and our mounting frustrating and personal schedules we had to attend to, we just "signed here and here" foolishly thinking Bob was our friend and being a decent honest businessman. Fourth complaint is that our Salesman Bob said that the installers would move all our security sensors to the new windows and doors for us. That was a complete lie. We discussed this with Bob has we just purchased our home and JUST have the security system installed and updated. The installer cut out ALL of our existing security system without even questioning any of it and I was home inside the house the entire time they were there. POOR communication and VERY POOR customer service. Who just cuts out someone's security system with reckless abandon??? Now instead of hidden switches inside the windows and doors we have large clunky wireless sensors on the insides of our window frames and door. VERY POOR planning on behalf of Comfort Windows and Doors. Apparently their only concern is getting paid. Fifth complaint is once the installer were finished late in the day, the lead guy said, "You owe me $10,000." I was baffled. Did NOBODY at Comfort Windows and Doors not tell the installers that we had financing in place? If you cannot even properly communicate to the guy you literally hand the paperwork to, then how can you possibly communicate to your customers properly??? Sixth complaint is that the lead installer asked me to just sign the paperwork because the other guy was going to be late for a class. They never showed the windows, the operation or anything. They left me some papers to read myself. Later in the day when we were both home and had time to look the windows over and test each one we found the while vinyl to be filthy. The windows were filthy and the stickers were left on all the windows. I guess I assumed that for $10K that they might actually clean off the filthy windows. I was wrong. ALSO, the lead installer advised me of areas around our brand new $10K windows that I should caulk! I guess we only pid for most of the install. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE at the every least. Seventh complaint is that the screen door has a fair amount of tension on it while trying to open and close it. Much more than the heavy glass door. We did not receive a booklet with instructions for adjusting the screen door. Not enough room for all the issues. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. MANAGEMENT REFUSES TO RESOLVE ANY ISSUES FAIRLY. read more

He said he was appalled to read about my experiences and that Tom's behavior was by no means tolerated or accepted by their company standards. We had an excellent experience with Comfort Windows. The installers were professional, courteous and did an outstanding job. For instance, they wore booties over their shoes and put dropcloths in their work areas. We had 20 windows replaced and they did it all in two-and-half days. They addressed my main concerns first like having to walk on a slippery metal roof to get to one set of windows. They had no problems as far as I know. I was concerned no more. The main thing beyond the energy saving factor was the dramatic reduction of outside sound. For instance, there is a factory near by and I could hear noises coming from it at night. Now nothing! Traffic noises too. Gone! I did decibel comparisons from the old windows to the new and my decibel reader showed a two to three point drop in decibel readings. All the windows were the Quad windows, their best. All in all, we are totally happy with our Comfort Windows experience. read more
