First things first: I have been going to this location for years now. I have not once had a bad experience in all my Wednesdays of picking up my comics. The owner, Enrique, is super nice to everyone that walks in to the store. He greets everyone as a valued guest and NEVER pressures anyone to purchase an item in his store. It's a very down to earth local comic shop that's not in your face about comics. It is there for all types of readers of all types of ages. There is always something comic related playing on TV while you shop for what you are looking for. I have been to many other comic stores for events and hunting down hard to get comics, but I always come back here because the prices are fair and I trust Enrique with my books. Meh.... All they specialize in is variant covers of current comics. Yeah, the arcade is cool, but not much else to this place....

My first local comic shop I've stepped foot in. It was this location last year around this time. I've been coming here for a year now, well it's not my only stop but it's the one shop that I can count on for my comic needs and it's the only one every time I step foot in I feel like I'm at home because it's just such a nice place to walk in the employer is such a nice guy and knows his stuff and is pretty cool so far the year I shop with them. I love that they have an arcade also which is also you have one and the other lol. Anyways I recommend lots of locals to check this place out or even if you're not local it's a nice gig to check out they will probably have what you're looking for. read more

**Pinball only** They have a small but quality choice of machines. The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Xenon, Dr Who are some of the great choices they have for pinball heads. 50 cents for older machines and $1 for new. They have $2 for 3 game option on newer tables. Environment is great. In the back of a comic book shop, place is not overly lit, dark at times even. Not crowded and not unlikely that you could have the whole place to yourself at times. Machines are very well maintained, as always some will have issues but they take care of them. The people that work there are very friendly and have taken care of any minor pinball issues I've had. My only knock would be that they could have more tables, but regardless they have a great selection of old and new. For parking there is a huge lot outside the place, but it being part of the metro link, sometimes you will have a lot of parking and sometimes not so much. The store owner, Enrique, is super nice and extremely knowledgeable on everything comic book related. I am not personally a big comic reader, but I used to come into his shop just to have him tell me his latest favorite story-line. He'd sit with me for hours between helping customers and tell me about X-Men, Spider-Man history, and anything else I had interest in/questions about. Any question you have about comics, video games, dice/card games, anything he carries in his store (or just if he knows about it) he'll help you as much as he can. A slice of comics heaven on earth. Pinball, comics, gourmet beef jerky. To make it 6 stars, they need to get Jurassic Park Pinball. :) I love the location at the train station which makes the wait more tolerable. And the guys working there remind me of my friends in college who worked at a comic book store. We loved to go bother them while they were working. read more

This store is a great stop for our family- boys get the latest Spongebob or Doodlejump and we head out to a local eatery for some family time! The extra special thing about this store is that they have a cool arcade with some gAmes from the 80's. Great place to take your grade-school kids! read more

Checking out Comic Hero University for the first time and well it is a nice shop in a cool part of Fullerton. Set up in the train station which gives it a cool vibe that fits the kind of creepy zombie feel I guess. Not geared towards kids it is more maybe for teens and adults. Which I over heard the employee even tell one of the costumers that they are trying to go the rout of older mature readers. They have a really nice game room in the back and the store is bigger than most. It looked like they were set up for card games as well not really sure but there were tables taking up part of one side of the shop. Did not see much when it came to collectibles such as statues or toys like I said they are going for an older crowd. Not much when it comes to older titles however they do have some on the walls for sale. Seemed only certain titles had older titles such as spider man and Fantastic Four in their boxes. I did not see any dollar boxes or fifty cent boxes they might have had them but none that I saw. They have a load of variant covers some I have never even seen at some of the shops that I have been to. I got the Starlord Scottie Young variant cover which I have not seen before. While talking to the employee who was really cool and seemed to have a good knowledge of comic books he told me (in a very humble way because he said to me I am not trying brag but) that they order some of the largest quantities of variant covers offered for sale because they do lots of shows all over (state or country I am not sure he never really said). The prices are not to bad but some are a little over the top price wise but on some of the variants they had some better prices than most I have seen. The plastics and boards are free with your purchase of comic books which I think is a huge plus most places will not give them for free and if they do you have to be on their pull list (this was a bright spot for me telling me there is hope here for this shop to see me again even though they don't really carry what I am looking for) So the nitty gritty of it is They have some really new odd end cover variants mostly they carry newer stuff not really much older titles. A nice game room awesome employees middle of the road prices that you can work with. Not really my kind of store but worth checking out for the cool variants they have. I don't know much about comics, but with this place, I don't need to. I know what I like and I know what I want and that is all that matters. The owner is a great guy and always has answers to all of mine and my girlfriends obnoxious questions. One of the great things about this place is the selection. They have things that the bigger shops don't, so as far as I am concerned, size doesn't mean much if you rise where others fall. Comic Hero U definitely rises. I live close to other shops, but I always make the trip to Fullerton for these guys. If I could give them more stars, I would. Maybe one day Enrique will sell me that Hellboy Statue and Comic box, but until then, I'll just keep buying up the comics, ha ha Thanks guys. I'll see ya...every week. read more

This place is great. When I first found this place it was nothing but great things. Great Variants and Great customer service. This guy knows a lot about gaming and comics. The people that go here for gaming tourneys are such great people. I like the camaraderie between players and like the fact that the experts teach you while playing against you. What a fun little shop! I've been steadily starting to pick up a few more comics and graphic novels nowadays so finding a great store is always important. I found this place while in the neighborhood for lunch and was so surprised by not only the quality and cleanliness of the store, but by the friendly staff and the freaking arcade in the back! I came with my wife and we had a great time for 20 minutes playing some of the old school games and browsing the selection of comics. Been here a few times and they have an amazing selection to choose from. They carry all the current titles you might be looking for as well as a good amount of older issues and titles. Some comics were a bit pricey but that's expected anywhere you go. They have a boxes of variants at very reasonable prices, I saw many that were cheaper than the prices you find on eBay. Staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. I spent a lot of time walking around there today and was asked multiple times if I needed help finding anything, which was a nice change from having to ask someone who seems to be bothered you are disturbing them, as I've experienced situations like that at other stores. It's a 30-45 min drive from where I live but it is worth it for the great selection of comics, amazing staff, and VERY reasonable prices (especially on variants). read more

As of 3/3/16, all the information provided by other reviewers is incorrect. This place is now a travesty. The owner is incredibly rude, the selection of comics is diminished, and half of the arcade machines are broken down. The place also is very small with little A/C, that makes the place smell like old wet cardboard. read more

Called in and asked if they had The Mummy he said yes we have it, I asked if they had issue #2 and he said "yeah I just told you I had it". He seemed upset and angry over the fact that I asked him twice for reassurance since it was quite a drive for me. I've been to every local comic shop around me, since becoming a regular to Comic Hero U I haven't felt the need to go anywhere else. The thought of having my weekly pull from any one comic shop wasn't appealing to me as the ones I used to frequent would often let me down for one reason or another. But after going to Comic U a few times I knew that this place could easily be my go to shop (plus after you get a pull there you get 10% off every visit!). The owner is always making sure you're good and is always chatty if you're in the chatty mode and quick with your transaction if you're not. The wall of new issues is always stocked and the bins with single issues is always well organized. They're selection of trades is not that great but after asking the owner about it he said that if you request any trade he could have it ordered just for you. A must stop for all comic book enthusiast, pop culture fans and potential train hoppers. The place has a very relaxed homey vibe that makes you almost wanna stay indefinitely even for a place that is located on a train station which is a nice change of pace for some i'd say. The atmosphere here is welcoming to all walks of life and above that the place is kept extremely clean. The new comic release titles are found immediately to your right. The other comics are placed in a back-stock pristine island area and mostly in an orderly neat fashion state too. The arcade room is a nice touch too very clean and well stock with a wide selection of games to choose from. The owner is very professional, attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and a non-elitist young gentleman by the name of Enrique which is a big plus, considering how other shops I've been to are. If you're new to the comic scene the owner is more than happy to bring you up to speed with almost all the current events in most of the comic book universes in a passionate educated way and entertaining manner. I'm definitively gonna be coming here from now on for all my comic book needs. I've made a few subscriptions through them and plan on making more you can ship them however you like weekly, monthly, or annually, etx. I chose monthly the best option. They will find any comic you want even if they have never herd or it and will ship it very quick and safe. Best shipping I've ever had. All of the comics where in perfect condition when I revived them. I live in Louisiana and have no problem reviving my comic exactly when I want them. I recently moved and was able to get them to hold my comics until I was ready to start reviving them again. They contact you before they bill your card on shipment so you know exactly when you should have a charge to your card!
