I have been coming to this shop for years, I have to say I love the staff here! I used to shop at the Redlands location because it's closer but the service was sub par and management there just sucks so bad! The selection is excellent no matter what I'm looking for niche or brand new these guys know what they're doing. I can always trust them for excellent recommendations, I also pick up gifts for friends and family here they have a little bit for everyone. They even have a back issue bin where you can find a great value and even more selection of older issues. Eli and Eddie are just so friendly consistently and very knowledgeable, Jason really knows how to run this store (please never ever switch management). If you have the chance definitely make the treck to Claremont. Oh and one last thing thank you for making sure people with sticky wet hands aren't walking in here and ruining the pristine issues every collector would like to have. read more

This is such a freaking cool store! They have so much stuff, magazines and pins, Funko pops, and of course comic books! The space is actually a pretty decent size with lots of variety. Finally looking more carefully at their cool shopping bag after making a purchase to discover 1) it has a Bible quote on it and 2) crosses. It's literally Batman on one side of the bag and a cross on the other. I usually go to the Redlands location but I was in the area so I thought I would stop here too. Very similar experience, except I think this store is a little larger, and does have a few different things. Lots of new comics on the shelves, and plenty of graphic novels. Super clean store. Staff was friendly, and knowledgeable. Much like the other location I wish this one had more dollar and discount bins to dig through. Worth stopping by if you are in the area! read more

Dope spot with chill vibes, and they have an extensive collection of reading material and figures/Funko Pops. I've picked up a few pops from this place. During my last visit, I picked up these storage boxes for me, my bro, and cousin. I came here to visit after having lunch with a couple friends in the area. My only wish was that they carried games or could place orders for stuff...specifically deck building games related to comics. I like being able to hold product and will probably take a look at vendors at Frank and Sons, and as a last resort order the game from Amazon. All in all, a great place to visit and chill if you're into all things comics! The storage boxes were $16 each, so the prices weren't bad at all. I believe retail is around $12-15. A shop called quest is an amazing comic book shop. I have had the opportunity to visit both the Redlands and Claremont location, and they both offer an absolutely wonderful experience. The comic book selection is fantastic, they have new releases out every week so you can come in very often and find yourself with new content. I love the energy in these comic book shops, and just everything you can find. From indie comic books, to your favorite marvel comic, and even dog collars! This comic book shop is worth checking out. Pricing: Comic books range in prices however I have found that there is a good range at this store. It is never too pricey for the comic you are looking for. I have cross referenced prices before, and I have found that this one is one of the more affordable places even when it comes to rare or hard to find comics. read more

Been here a couple of times and can confidently say there is ONE nice employee. From my past experiences, this employee helped me know when the next shipment of the next volume of a manga I'm reading came. This was very helpful, and I am grateful to that man. Now, for the other employees, I can say that they hate anyone under the age of at least 15. One time I came in with a group of friends with me. One of my friends said that the employee had said something similar to the lines of "Damn, kids. They're gonna spill something." Now, this seems like something an old man would say. Unfortunately, this was not an elder and was in fact a whole grown man saying this about children. My friends and I had came in with drinks. (Mostly just a water cup for each of us) One of my friends left her drink on the counter, when leaving she went to pick it up and spilled it from nervousness due to the employee. The employee definitely appeared angry, although I cannot remember what happened next. For my next encounter with another employee, I had gone to checkout a book and the process was going smoothly until the cashier blabbered a bunch of words I couldn't understand. I asked him to repeat himself at least twice, once I understood him I could definitely hear him say "Geez." You'd think an employee would act more professionally, I suppose not. Please hire better employees who do not hate individuals who are under 15. Anyways, apart from the employees the store is nice and has many things I enjoy. Although, I might refrain from purchasing next time I appear to become close to the shop. read more

A shop focusing on presenting a personal curation of comics,books,graphic novels,gaming,collectibles and clothing not to mention the cool canvas display. If you like the Funko series,they got it covered and if you like the Madballs X,they got these gems also. What really stood out was the rare Japanese toys behind and around the counter,Gundam,Hokuto no Ken,Mazinga and of course Godzilla just to name a few heavy hitters.Personally,I think they were a little overpriced but I understand the overhead and high end area they are located in made the price what it was.And in all fairness if you go online and buy plus the shipping,it almost adds up anyway except you have the merchandise right there and then,I would. The employees weren't really friendly but I think it's because they see plenty of people in and out of the shop and they never buy just browse.But once you ask them something,a boat load of knowledge is headed your way.Overall a cool store for those who are into this hobby.And that's my take,Peace out. read more

Enter, The Collector... Comic Book Guy from the Simpson's definitely embodied geekiness to the nth degree, or whatever modifier rolling a 12-sided dice would incur. Suffice it to say, "worst episode ever." Luckily for us every town worth its salt has a haven for freaks of nature, better known as comic book collectors. Don't get me started about keeping those "action figures" inactive, pristine mint in their original unmolested packaging. Lemmy Killmeister joked once that keeping them mint would help you get $5 some day. Pretty much, so arching eyebrows slightly at the 1% pricing of The Joker and Harlequin boxed set, a steep $145, made me think of that anecdote. Comic shops have changed. Once full of boxes of back issues, today there's a graphic novel embodying those old unobtainable, either by price, or physically elusive issues. Great for casual readers, bad for anal collectors. How geeky does it get in these places? Let's consider there's at least one day per week when new comics arrive. Get your people watching skills ready! Once, in a college town in the Midwest, I was literally 'day tripping' and entering the local shop with enhanced perception was only one objective I intended in the eight-hour state of mind. To my surprise the manager asked me to cover for him because he needed to get "something really important done." I said sure, glad to help. For two-hours until he returned I got way more than I bargained for observing the freakiest of the geeks. Seriously, no room to describe the experience in detail (don't ever believe anyone who says they don't remember what they did on LSD), but definitely "worst episode ever." It convinced me never to work in such a place! I decided to try collecting again on a limited scale after seeing the Darth Vader mini-series on the shelves. Two issues in and I'm hooked again. Damn you comics! More expensive but less advertising inside. I suppose that's a good trade-off. Great shop, can't wait to explore more. read more

Cool comic book shop in downtown Claremont with even colder cashier. Selection is great, they carry the standard comic book merchandise (funko pop dolls, paperbook comics, funny greeting cards, unique pins, patches, etc.). I'm not a comic book fan/reader, but it's worth stopping in here for a cool, humorous and/or unique gift for a friend or family member. The comic book cashier wasn't really friendly and instead of bagging my item and handing it to me she asked if I needed a receipt and then just gave me a look like she was bothered I made her complete a transaction. Maybe that's normal comic book cashier etiquette but it was pretty rude to me. read more

I love this place. Everything is arranged very neatly, which makes stuff easy to find. And the employees are very nice. As you can see from some of the pictures, they don't have a ton of back issues for you to rifle through. Just the wooden cabinet at the end. Is that good? Is that bad? Whatever pays the bills in the Village! But the setup sure beats the other comic shop I used to go to, where backissues were stored directly under the wall of new arrivals. TPBs, though, they have aplenty. And the Funko Pops, geez! Even if you're not interested in the comics that week, try walking past the brick wall of Funkos. My first experience with A Shop Called Quest was the location in Downtown Redlands, I would always stop in to see what new stickers/ art they had in. The location in the Claremont Village was quiet and quaint, one thing that I loved about this location was that the staff weren't bothersome, they let customers browse their selection of comics in peace. I am die-hard fan of the Sci-Fi show Firefly, when I saw that there were comics I was immediately drawn to that selection. I ended going with the first edition which cost me about $10. On my way checking I saw graphic novel that caught my eye by Charles Forsman called Revenger: The Children of the Damned! I am excited to read both of these and I'll update this review when I get through both of them. read more

During this COVID expeirence: My local comic book shop was closed yesterday so this was the second closest. I came here to get some board and bag good quality too. But anyways, They have a variety of comic books but also my most favorite is graphic novels! They had a nice organized graphic novels and they also had the ones that are on my wishlist. The atmosphere is nice and decorated. I will be coming back soon to pick up a graphic novel some TMNT . They also have statues , funko pops, and figures. read more

A great shop with a great name! I recently got back in to comics so I've been going around OC and IE area to pick up what I've been missing. I started giving comic book stores reviews on yelp the same time I got back into comics. I've said "this store has everything" a couple of times on my reviews but man.. A Shop Called Quest has EVERYTHING!! Lol. To say that this shop has everything would be an understatement! They really have something for everyone: Manga, comics, posters, toys, art, cards and more. They have all essential trade paperbacks and hard covers for all your favorite superheroes. Perfect for new readers and collectors, everyone really. The shop is very clean and all books and issues are displayed neatly and organized. What really stood out for me was the horror section with all the classics! They had Stephen King's Creepshow, Tomb of Dracula, the stuff my uncle used to show me when I was a kid. That's a huge plus for me, I was really stoked to see those in the shop. The overall vibe of the store is real chill. Real cool atmosphere with great art everywhere. They had good music playing while I shopped and the employees seem as cool as the store. One in particular helped me out tremendously. I didn't get his name but he checked if I needed any help a few times, but not in a pushy and annoying kind of way. He pointed out the horror section when I told him what I was into and I definitely would've missed that section if he hadn't asked if I needed help. Parking close to the shop can be difficult if the plaza's packed and busy. If you don't mind walking a few minutes, there's a parking garage a couple blocks down. The shop is surrounded by restaurants with really good food, so the comics and food compensates for the walking and trying to find parking lol. A Shop Called Quest.. thanks! This is such a great shop in the midst of Downtown Claremont. They have a small selection, but it is full of the essential comics most people would want! The great thing about this shop is once you sign up for their $25 membership, you are in for life! The membership includes 10% off on all comics and books, so the more you shop from them the sooner you'll be making that $25 back in discounts. The membership is incredibly worth it! Another cool thing is the staff will put aside a card of your newly released comic book requests, and they will hold it for you for approximately 6 months until you decide to pick the comic up; just be sure to make note of when the comic comes out so you know when to visit here as the shop will not call you when a comic you want is released. As a bonus, they do sell other merchandise such as action figures and clothing. This is definitely in my top 3 best comic book stores I've visited so far and comes highly recommended. read more

One of the nicer comic book shops I've been to. Very clean, neat and organized. Cool, chill ambiance. Lots of variety to choose from, from Western comics to Japanese manga to artbooks. Lots of collectibles, from Funko to action figures to posters and stickers. I could spend all day here. They had the variant I was looking for, so even better. The weird thing was that I brought my item to the register for purchase and placed it on the counter (It looked clear and no customer was there), but the two dudes working didn't even acknowledge me with a, "One moment please while we ring up this customer". The two were just quietly speaking to each other while bagging a ton of comics for a guy that stepped away looking at other things, so I just stood there awkwardly for a couple of minutes. Once they starting ringing me up, I did not get any semblance of, "Sorry about the wait, did you find everything okay?". Employee just bagged my comic, I paid, and I was outta there. Based on previous reviews of this place, negative customer interactions seem frequent. If you visit, don't expect to feel very welcomed and perhaps you won't be let down. I'd love to support a local comic book shop, but the lack of basic customer courtesy is why I'll continue to buy my stuff online with Midtown. C'est la vie. read more

YES! I'm First to review! This place opened Monday like last week and I love it. It's a very art oriented comic shop. They have an excellent higher standard look and fit perfectly. The store is clean and open and packed with things you want. There is a membership that is worth getting and the staff is excellent. Ray, Jay, and Angle are the three I seem most likely to run into and they're always happy to help. I need a first edition print so they're bringing it in from the sister-store in redlands so that was pretty awesome of them. This isn't like any comic book store you know. Dont expect trading card tournaments or awkward standees everywhere. This is a clean, classy looking shop and lots of interesting art. Ray showed me a book that the store focuses on and let me know he plans on holding a few art shows annually so this is a comic book store like none I've ever seen. Worth a trip. Membership worth the price if you find yourself doing a lot of shopping. Also - you can get a pull box to make sure you get the comic you're after so get that setup and dont miss something you'll regret. Maybe this isn't new - but no one ever offered it to me before here and I used to frequent another shop. So either way - this place is awesome. Must Go. read more

Love this place, I work right up the street so its perfectly convenient for me to stop in after work and pick up some new issues! They guys are cool and always willing to help out, they have a great selection of comics and other cool figures and memorabilia. and being right next to coffee bean doesn't hurt them either :) Great spot in the Village. I love the independent graphics mostly- it always keeps me interested & I think this shop is great about renewing their selection. Recently they've carried a good selection of AAPI graphic novels which I also really appreciate! They also have a great selection of unique pins & funny stickers! To all the negative customer service comments: I think the clerks often recognize me & are nice everytime Ive visited despite not always purchasing..I dont consider outstanding customer service being overjoyed or extreme sociability..
