We visited Coming Attractions in fall of 2015. I am not sure if they are still in business. (After leaving the store and crossing the street, I saw a "business for sale" sign in a real estate office across the street.) Loved the "styles" offered, although I didn't make any purchases. Store seemed full of merchandise, more than could realistically sell in this little tourist town. The owner was pleasant, but a bit eccentric. She seemed more interested in chatting about her cats than in trying to sell anything. read more

I wish I has posted this a year ago, right after the event, but the experience is still fresh in my mind, so... My boyfriend and I were spending a lovely day in Sutter Creek, strolling Main Street while waiting for Bella Grace to open so we could pick up our box of wine. We wandered into Coming Attractions to browse. The owner was there - I have to assume she was the owner as anyone else treating customers so rudely surely would be perfunctorily dismissed from employment by anyone wishing to stay in business! Anyway, we wandered over to the antique map cabinet. Every drawer holds a display of unique jewelry. As I pulled open one drawer after another to take a look, the owner came over and started lecturing me on not having pulled the drawer out far enough. "There's more in the back. You have to pull it all the way out," she said. Hmm. Okay, Ms. Bossypants. Not that I want to see every single thing, but okay. I pulled the drawer out farther. "Oh my God! You're not real bright, are you?" she exclaimed, pushing my hands away from the drawer pulls and yanking the drawer out hard and fast enough to push me backwards into whatever display might have been right up against me at the time. I don't know what it was because I was busy being stunned. I was speechless! We gave her an "Are you BLEEPing kidding me?" look and immediately left the store. Really? REALLY? read more

It is laughable that this lady is still in business.... I have never met a more snooty miserable person in my life! We only went in because of the cat in the window but once inside I saw a watch I like and asked her about it, she just rolled her eyes and said she didn't know.... Ummmm ok is this your store?? You must not want to sell this $94 watch. Anyway I could feel that we were not welcome in her store and I would never spend my money there after that anyway. B.B is absolutely right. This delightful woman has the best merchandise, as well as the best taste in clothing and jewelry in Amador County, in my opinion. Sutter Creek is blessed with several really excellent dress shops of very long standing and you really do have to wonder if these obnoxious 1 star reviews for this one are bogus, especially when it's the ONLY review for some of these "yelpers". That always makes me suspicious. Why yelp hasn't filtered some of these preposterous reviews I frankly can't imagine. Maybe the filtering software isn't working as described. I know for a fact that ladies come from far and wide to shop at this, and the other two top dress shops in town. It's remarkable really. Don't be fooled. read more

I come to this store on an annual trip to California from my home in Connecticut. This is one of the very few places I shop--I LOVE the fresh, innovative clothing, which is even better since the new owner Kelli took over last year. I never write reviews on Yelp but there is still so much negative press from the previous owner (a bit of a pill but she still had great clothing), I thought I needed to get online and help to dispel the bad old news, which included a notice that the store had closed. I just picked up the phone--this is December 22, 2019--to learn it is open and thriving. I look forward to shopping there next week. read more

I had the opportunity to visit Sutter Creek a few weeks ago. It is a very charming community and many stores, with one exception, Coming Attractions, 43 Main Street. The older lady taking care of the shop was very rude. Even with that experience I purchased a jacket. Two week later I called to ask if I could return by mail and receive a credit or store credit. I was very rudely interrupted with NO REFUND OR STORE CREDIT after 7 days. Now I do believe most people who shop there are from out of the area. This is a very poor way of doing business. Perhaps the owners should also consider the attitude of the shop keeper. Apparently I am not alone with my experience. The owner is the rudest person I've seen in a really long time. I saw her yelling at a very young girl who was tapping on her window to say hi to her dog who then burst into tears. Seeing the other bad reviews it seems that rudeness is her specialty. I will never stop in that store and I wouldn't recommend that anyone else gives this woman business until she treats her customers with respect. read more

I'm a frequent visitor of Sutter Creek and enjoy the many shops and restaurants there on a regular basis. Last weekend, while walking down Main St, my children (ages 7 and 9) and I saw the adorable cat and small dog in the window of Coming Attractions. Of course my kids wanted to have a closer look and I wanted to check out the store. We entered the store and as the shopkeeper approached, I asked if the pets were friendly. My kids know not to touch any pets without asking the owner first. The shopkeeper immediately picked up the dog, and said, "The dog is not friendly to children at all. Goodbye." Basically, she kicked us out. Now, some of you might be thinking the kids were being unruly or maybe touching the animals or the merchandise, which is what I would be thinking myself if I read this review. But I assure you, my kids and I were very polite and didn't do anything to warrant such a harsh reaction. I can only assume that the animals were dangerous, which begs the question, "What type of business person would jeopardize the safety of their customers?" I wouldn't typically write a negative review like this, as I want to support small businesses, especially in this tiny town that has seen its share of financial struggles. But, after that uncomfortable experience, I lost interest in continuing to browse and told my husband I was ready to head down to Jackson to take care of our errands. So, not only did Coming Attractions miss out on a potential customer, but perhaps some of the other stores nearby did too. read more

Tina, the owner, is charming, super-helpful always willing to make suggestions or even special order items. It's MY go-to place for classy shopping in all of Northern California.... The first two times I visited this shop I was impressed with the quality of the merchandise and even purchased several items. On my third visit I wanted to introduce a friend to this shop. I found several items I liked, hoping to put together an outfit. The owner continued to bring additional items to try. Unfortunately I couldn't put together any two items I liked or fit properly. I finally gave up. As I was leaving the dressing room, the owner stepped close and said "Don't ever come back!" I was shocked and at first thought she was kidding. I laughed and left the store. But I couldn't let go of her comment. I returned after a bit and asked her directly if she had been serious. She said she was and called me trailer trash! I've never been spoken to like that in my life! How can anyone so cruel, small minded and bitter stay in business?? read more

My mother and I were in Sutter Creek this past weekend and visited this store on 1/6/18. The items in the store were nice but the woman working there was not! In reading the other reviews of this store, I think she is the owner. After my mother and I walked into the store we looked first at the items near the window. She approached us and asked if she could help us find something and when we said were 'just looking', she said ok goodbye and walked away. I did not think much of it. I thought she was just leaving us to look around on our own, but a few minutes later when we were looking at items toward the back of the store, she came up to us and asked us again if she could help us find something and when said we were still just looking, she said "Goodbye now." and stood there this time, clearly expecting us to walk out. My mother and I looked at each other in confusion and then just walked out. I am not sure what the issue was -it is normal to want to look around at items a store before actually buying something. I thought it was odd that a store would want it's customers to leave! I couldn't figure out if we offended her somehow or just what the issue was, but upon reading the previous reviews, I am pretty sure now it was not us, it was her. If I could give this store less than one star, I would! read more

I purchased a Baggalini backpack from this store and when I contacted the owner to discuss the unraveling of the shoulder strap holding the bag after such a short time of the original purchase, she was very curt. I tried to explain I loved the bag and wished to simply return for another, but she said it was not her problem and that I had to deal with the company. She did not offer any further advice. She was actually rude and hung up on me when I told her I wished to deal with her not the company. The shop is beautifully arranged and when you are in the store to purchase something, she is charming, but she does not back up what she sells. I would not recommend doing business with this person. read more
