Jeremy came out to do the annual maintenance on our Briggs' generator. He was prompt, professional, and personable. We purchased this unit from a competitor of Commander and were using that company for the past few years since we made the purchase. The thing is, that company is just so focused on making money and finding extra charges, as well as routinely raising their prices, that I decided to look for a local, family owned and managed company to do business with moving forward. Well, I definitely made the right choice when I called Commander. Their prices are fair and their personnel are great. The only thing that will make them better is when they offer a preferred customer membership that results in routine monitoring, discounts, and priority service for folks choosing to pay a monthly fee for the extra care. I have been waiting over a month to get a part fixed on an AC unit. Inhale a high risk pregnancy and a dog, it's bad. I live in Area Housing that makes things worse. A week ago the tec shut my unit off and just left telling me nothing. I am still waiting for a part to be order that was a week ago this back and forth has been going on for a month My concern is for he baby and the dog why can't they just schedule an appointment, they shut the unit off like it's nothing. I've had Commander Air out to the house a couple times after I bought this house in Pace. For one call, JC changed out the FPL monitoring equipment that was defunct but still active, no problems. Given their excellent service history, I went straight to Commander Air for my heat pump when it gave up the ghost. It was not repairable (pre-2006 with R22 freon and a leaky coil), so Charlie came out to assess the situation, proposed (3) different replacement options with no pressure and left it to me to decide. I was able to get more details on the various quotes with immediate responses to my questions. Even the big guy Cole Commander texted and emailed me asking how things were going and if I needed anything else going forward. I ended up buying the upper end system they had proposed, based on the answers to my questions and my own personal research. They immediately scheduled the install on a day of my choosing. Todd and Anthoni showed up exactly on schedule, knocked out the install which included both the heat pump and the air handler, refinished the air handler closet, put in a new concrete pad, changed out all the associated wiring and plumbing (which I didn't expect), and fully tested the system before leaving. They did a clean and professional job. They even didn't mind that I was asking questions about what was going on and why things were the way they were. These guys were all great!!! The whole experience was hassle free and reasonably priced. I'm very satisfied with the job and would highly recommend Commander Air, Charlie, Todd and Anthoni to anyone with an HVAC issue. If you need anything concerning air conditioning or heating, this is the place to call! My a/c quit working with no power to the thermostat so I checked the breakers and such and found nothing wrong so I called Commander that morning and they had Amanda out there that afternoon and she found the drain line with the float switch was clogged and the float switch had cut the power off to ensure not to mess up the system. Amanda was fantastic! Very polite and helpful to me to prevent it from happening again. Plus I had her to service my tankless water heater too since she had time. Amanda's customer service is the reason that I always use Commander Air. Very polite people, great customer service, and reasonable prices. We have been using Commander Air for our air conditioning/heating needs for several years (since sometime in the 1970s or 1980s) and have always had excellent service. Our latest experience was no exception. We recently had Commander Air replace our entire HVAC system. Thomas came out to give us an estimate. He was straightforward and honest. He gave us several options but never attempted to high pressure us into a more expensive system. Trevor and John did the removal of the old system and installation of the new system. They were on time and started working as soon as they got in the door and did not stop until the job was done. The only break they took was their lunch break. They meticulously paid attention to every little detail. They worked extremely well together. If you watch these two in action you will understand what the term teamwork means. They were respectful of us and our property and thoroughly cleaned up any mess they made. In fact, when they left the only evidence that they had been there was the new system. Bowman came by a few days later to tend to a couple of touch up matters that could not be completed on the day of installation because of heavy rains coming down toward the end of the day. These did not affect the operation of the new system but were just touch ups that needed to be done. All of these people were pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. They were able to answer any questions we had. We felt very comfortable having these people in our home. read more

They told me that my outside unit had a leak and that it can't be fixed so I need to buy the new HVAC system that's around $9500 or they can have this part made and it'll take 3 weeks wtf... well it's been a month now and as of yet nothing. I told them by the time they get the part it's going to be fall and I won't need my hvac System. I've inquired several times when are they expecting the part to come in and they wouldn't give me any time frame. Totally sux read more

They charged $75 to come out to look at our a/c problem. They didn't get back with us on an estimate for 6 days! We waited 6 days without a/c in the June heat just for them to come back with a quote that was twice as much as Boutwell's. We didn't use them, so can't say what kind of work they do, but I was not impressed at all by how long they took nor by their prices. read more

My old system had reached its usefulness. Called Commander Air and was given the straight skinny by the rep on new systems. No hard sell on bigger is better etc. In fact, he told me what was the most common unit installed and I opted to get the 18 seer vs 16 mostly due to rebate from Gulf Power. Stay away from Commander Air. I called them for a problem. The said the trip charge would be $75 for the first hour of work. The technician was at my house for a total of 1.25 hours and found that I have a blown blade fuse in my air handler which costs a total of $2 at an auto parts store. The technician said a loose wire in the condensing unit cabinet ground out causing the fuse to blow. The technician changed the wir or made up a new wire which takes all of 10 minutes crimping a spade clip on a piece of wire. Wire and spade clips might cost at best $3 in material. So at cost for material we are looking at $5 at best. End result is: 1.25 hours and $5 worth materials cost me $300. I understand that company's will mark up parts and things for resale but really? I can see $75 for the trip and another $75 for tapping into another hours for $150 in labor, but to throw me a bill with another $150 for $5 worth of fuse, wire, and spade clips. Do yourself a favor. Do not call these people. They say they have a set price for services. I guess changing a fuse and a samll wire is set at $300. I have been using the folks for about four years now, and this is not the first problem I had with them. They also by-passed my board in condenser in lieu of replacing it which resulted in it not delivering heat when winter came around, therefore costing me a nother trip charge to fix what should had been fixed properly the first time called them. I figured that they had a bad technician working for them and gave them a pass but after all this, these folks will rip you off. I'll never use them again. read more

However; after they had said they had cleaned my inside coils and I read this could cause cooling problems I checked and they were very dirty. I called and just got a call back that the technician sprayed it. Sometimes it takes a little more. I still believe they have quick service but should give a bit more customer satisfaction.
