In December 2025, we hired Legacy Remodeling & Construction to remodel our bathroom, with the…read moreproject scheduled to begin during the first week of March 2026. Initially, the process appeared to be moving forward as expected. However, after we paid the deposit, communication and progress began to decline. By February, we had not received renovation drawings, blueprints, or material samples, despite repeatedly requesting updates. March arrived, and no meaningful work had been completed. We still had no finalized plans or materials, and reaching the company became increasingly difficult. Our primary point of contact, owner Tony Nhenga, rarely responded to us directly. Most communication came through his office assistant, who appeared to be relaying information on his behalf. By mid-March, we requested the return of our $41,000 deposit because no work had begun and, in our view, the company had not fulfilled its contractual obligations. Legacy eventually agreed to issue a refund, but the repayment process involved several delays and explanations, including a cashier's check that reportedly had been sent but never arrived and further issues involving the bank. After numerous calls and emails, we advised the company that we were prepared to involve an attorney. Tony then stated that he had obtained a personal line of credit to repay us, and we finally received our refund on July 1. Although we are relieved to have recovered our money, the overall experience was extremely stressful and disappointing. Based on our experience, prospective customers should carefully review the contract, payment terms, project timeline, and refund provisions before doing business with this company.
