Been going to this location for a soak and sauna for years. It is absolutely a beautiful, clean, kind, accepting, healing and wonderful oasis in Portland. Please be aware that when they say it's clothing optional, they mean it. You are going to see naked bodies. But people are very respectful and there is nothing creepy, unsafe or inappropriate at all. I will continue to be a regular patron here and thank them for this beautiful facility. Small, free lot parking. Reservations in advance required. Very fair rates for their services.

Common Grounds Wellness Cooperative is a awesome spot to go for a soak. Clothing optional with lockers. Friendly staff. There are lockers to store your clothes. Showers with natural soaps. No cold plunge yet cold showers to go into between warm pools to soak. Recommended!

Exterior plants in the parking lot - natives!

I visited Common Ground Wellness Cooperative for the first time for a bit of rest and relaxation over a recent long weekend. Visiting a new place like this can be a bit intimidating, so this long review is meant to detail everything you need to know, in case your anxiety is assuaged by information like mine is. Located off 33rd in NE, this facility has a midsize parking lot. Upon entry, approach the front desk where one of two cashiers will help you. After check-in and payment (during which they may ask for a tip for your practitioner, so if you don't want to tip then, bring cash or ask if you can apply it later), they will hold onto your ID. I got a tour on my first time visiting, though I see other reviewers say they did not. If you're slightly early, they may ask you to wait until your service's start time in one of two chairs in the lobby. Once you're at your reservation's start time, proceed through to the back. Remove your outside shoes at the cubbies directly following the curtain. Go to the small locker room. This area can get crowded so you may want to wait at the benches for the hourly transition of folks coming and going to pass. Follow the instructions on the locker to use the lock. Don't forget your code! When I was there, some lockers were not opening correctly - which resulted in guests needing to go to the front desk for help. Thankfully they can help, but it is a bit awkward to go out front when you're nude or in a bathing suit. Cell phones are left in lockers, turned off or silent. List of things to bring: - 1-2 towels (required to sit on, or rent a towel for $2) - non-glass water bottle (they have cups out front but, again, awkward to go out there during your time) - snacks if you want them - robe or sandals if you want them - shampoo/conditioner if you want them - bathing suit if you want one (clothing optional) Okay, items in locker, next head on to the showers. Most folks walk around with a towel around them. The showers are one room with 4-5 shower heads and many towel hooks. Use their scented or unscented body wash. There are two restrooms here if you need them. Though they floors in this area seem clean, they do get wet from people walking around, so if you're icked out by that bring those shower slippers. Then go to the hot tub and sauna! The hot tub area is outdoors, so masks are optional in this area. There is a cold shower, some seating, some nice plants, and a mural. The hot tub itself is two squares attached with an entry area so folks would sort into where there is space. I'm not sure, but I think they said on my tour that there is a temperature difference on the left and right squares. The one to the right was a good temperature for me and I like it hot. There is also the dry sauna which was very enjoyable - I had only been in wet saunas before and I much preferred the dry. I found everyone to be respectful of gaze, no one stared or looked at each other really - it was actually almost to the point of awkwardness where people did not acknowledge one another. Folks were fairly quiet around 3pm, but when I got back into the tubs at 5pm, after my massage, there was a bit more conversation. A fair amount of people came in pairs/couples, though there were just as many there solo. Overall I found the area to be slightly crowded - maybe 15 people at one time, where I think maybe 12 would have been more comfortable. Though I understand the facility needs to meet a certain capacity to be profitable. There is one clock outside and another inside to help you monitor your time - no other signals when your time is up so it's mostly the honor system. I think another clock outside would be helpful. When I was there, it seems like those going nude were actually in the minority and more folks chose to wear a bathing suit. To me, the space felt very body positive to people of all sizes, ages, and genders. I also opted for a massage during my visit. I did a 60-minute massage with practitioner Vickie. I booked her from their masseuses because her blurb on the website indicated she was body-positive. She was right on time meeting me near the locker room, offering me a robe, and taking me back to the massage room which was dimly lit, smelled good, with lots of decorations and typical calming music. She checked in with my goals for the hour and then got to work. During the massage, I could hear some noise from the hallway but nothing excessive. I really enjoyed her massage all throughout - good pressure with check-ins, working out knots in some areas but still going for relaxation as the main goal, every part of the body got some love. I'd definitely recommend her. After all is said and done, grab your stuff from your locker, and head out, hopefully more rested and relaxed. Don't forget to pick up your ID from the front desk on the way out!

Curious, I set up the appointment after months of foot dragging and mentally prepped myself for a office visit and sales session. I was less than half right. What I did receive was a deep, conversational review of current health status and medical history. (No cursory glance at a standardized form with items to check off.) This was followed by a number of suggestions in diet changes with specific items to include. [other items I won't discuss in a review, too personal] Then acupuncture. At no time was there even a hint of sales pressure. Dr. Saccamanno's focus was totally on my health and well being. Impressed by this initial good experience I scheduled a follow up. Care has continued to meet the high standard set at the initial meeting. Example: Recently I received an email from Dr. Saccamanno (Does your traditional doctor email you outside of appointments? Neither does mine.) After two screens of detail about how my treatment course was going she wrote "Sorry if this feels so micro-managerial." Excuse me? What a delight it is to get such personal, close care. This is the other end of the spectrum from "your blood test shows the level of ..." and a no more action needed statement. i dream of all health care professionals behaving in this manner.

There aren't enough words to describe what an amazing person Dr. Renee is. I feel like I could tell her anything (and I usually do, lol). She's extremely knowledgeable about body structure and systems, and her approach to acupuncture is unique and very cool! She explains her thought process and approach to care, particularly from a Chinese medicine perspective, in such a way that I truly feel like we're partners in my health and wellness journey. I've learned so much about how my body works, and each visit is followed up with customized recommendations (example: foods that are particularly nourishing in areas I might be deficient, based on her observations of my pulse, etc.) The office at Blossom Clinic is small but cozy and inviting, with soft lighting, air filters, aromatherapy, etc. They use high-quality products (for example, I had cupping done today with organic Jojoba oil).
