I initially came to Blossom Clinic for help with hot flashes, which have already reduced significantly after only a few visits. There aren't enough words to describe what an amazing person Dr. Renee is. I feel like I could tell her anything (and I usually do, lol). She's extremely knowledgeable about body structure and systems, and her approach to acupuncture is unique and very cool! She explains her thought process and approach to care, particularly from a Chinese medicine perspective, in such a way that I truly feel like we're partners in my health and wellness journey. I've learned so much about how my body works, and each visit is followed up with customized recommendations (example: foods that are particularly nourishing in areas I might be deficient, based on her observations of my pulse, etc.) The office at Blossom Clinic is small but cozy and inviting, with soft lighting, air filters, aromatherapy, etc. They use high-quality products (for example, I had cupping done today with organic Jojoba oil). They're located next to Whole Foods (on the left, and up the stairs, kind of hard to find--for me anyway), but very convenient for picking up some groceries before or after my visits. They do not accept insurance but do provide detailed bills that I can submit for reimbursement from my health plan. I have not met with any of the other practitioners, so I can't comment on them. Overall, an extremely pleasant and personalized experience that I highly recommend! I've been blown away by the customer service I received at Blossom Acupuncture. I'm in the process of IVF and had to have my transfer postponed by a week. This review is long overdue (mom brain is real, y'all). Liz is hands-down the best acupuncturist I've gone to, and was a pivotal part of my fertility journey. I was doing IUI and IVF at ORM with Dr. Barbieri, and saw Liz weekly throughout the process, as well as right before each procedure. She was kind, educational, and the kind of support system that makes a huge difference in what can be a very difficult and lonely process. I don't know what I would have done without her. I can't remember a single time she placed a needle in a way that caused pain (versus other acupuncturists I've been to where you feel the little "zings" of pain relatively often and they have to remove the needle and try again), and I also liked that she came in midway through each session to turn the needles. She checked in on how I was doing with fertility treatments, was a listening ear and advocate for me, and a cheerleader along the way. I have a beautiful baby boy now and credit a lot of that to Liz's care and positive support helping me to get pregnant. We've since moved to California, but when I'm back at ORM for the next embryo transfer I will definitely see Liz in anticipation of the procedure. Long overdue. This clinic is a straight up, straightforward healing place. After moving to Portland in late 2012, I sought out acupuncture practitioners to address a herniated disc in my lower back (L5/S1 for back pain fans). If you know this injury you know it can be suddenly and intensely painful and can come with associated pain and numbness down the legs. I needed to strengthen the surrounding area (see my review for MDT) and manage pain (if possible at the same time). Both acupuncturists I've seen here are nothing less than first rate. Both took a lot of time to assess my issues, ask abut my "back life" - I have twin 4year olds - and treated me according to my needs in each session. Portland has a wealth of healers...or people who call themselves that. I have visited other acupuncturists. My general experience is not with mentioning. Too fast intakes, too little experience, not enough respect for the fact that each body is different. Skip all the painful research and go to Blossom instead. Last word-I'm male and could have been scared off by the fertility/women's health work they do here. If you have such concerns, they are unfounded. You'll get what you need at Blossom while knowing they are doing good work to boot. The pain has subsided considerably and I'm back to my pre- injury workout levels. If seeking fertility treatment, pregnancy support, labor induction, or postpartum care- Blossom Clinic is a MUST. After trying for a year to conceive and before embarking on Western methods, a friend had mentioned trying acupuncture. Through Yelp I found Blossom. I started seeing Morgan and within a month - we conceived! I continued to see Morgan throughout my pregnancy to treat everything from nausea to muscle strains. She was exceptional. Always comforting, supportive, skillful and passionate. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I started labor preparation with Morgan. I ended up going past 41 weeks. During that 41st week I worked with Liz and Morgan. Liz is extremely proficient and I was pleased to receive seamless treatment from her when Morgan was unavailable. I actually received an acupuncture treatment with Morgan while in labor. The acupuncture, my husband as a witness, really sped up my contractions. My acupuncture appointment was at 11:30am, and our son was born at 6:06pm. I was 41 weeks and 4 days. Our induction was scheduled for the next day. We were ecstatic to cancel the induction :). We cannot recommend Blossom enough! TIPS: - Lots of parking in Whole Foods lot, on street as well as in a lot along Fremont, adjacent to Starbucks where 14th Ave splits - Blossom clinic is located on second floor- there are stairs as well as an elevator - There is NO bathroom inside the Blossom Clinic. You will need to get a key from staff to go on first floor; Before appointments I would often use the Whole Foods or Starbucks bathroom - If your appointment is on the weekend, there is no receptionist. Thus the door to the clinic will be locked. You can sit outside the clinic door on benches and wait. Your acupuncturist will let you in. Free wifi from Whole Foods is accessible :) - Inside the clinic, there will be water and tea for you to enjoy - They will not process insurance for you, but they will provide a receipt with billing codes so you can submit forms on your own. Great way to use your HSA if on a high deductible plan. - Online booking from their website is a breeze. It couldn't have been a more well timed gift from the universe & the awesome crew at Blossom! I have just gone through an extremely challenging year fraught with moves, divorce, health issues & major amounts of stress. Feel like my next project is to rebuild me & these gifted practitioners are helping me get my feet back beneath me. I've had an amazing massage with Kelcy, she was fantastic. She asked me about pressure & issues before hand and even though I prefer deep tissue I was still (possibly literally) drooling. I was a little nervy about acupuncture & the owner & acupuncturist, Liz Richards was contentious about checking in with me. She also has a very cool smoking cessation program that has you detoxing & making a contract with yourself. This is going to be my next visit to Blossom! I also saw the awesome Dr Elise. I was referred here by a colleague, specifically to see Morgan. I was really looking forward to it, since the colleague had praised her highly. I was given her number, and she was out of state (perhaps on vacay) but she called me back, even out of state! I was impressed that she would take the time to call me back when she was gone from the office. My first appointment was back in January and I've been seeing Morgan every week since. The first appointment is a consultation to discuss what I was looking to get out of acupuncture for about 30 mins., and then you go straight into it. Morgan does s really great job of asking health questions, lifestyle questions, etc. to get an understanding of where you are now, to better understand where you want to be. And week to week I'm given encouragements and suggestions of how to improve habits, which I appreciate. The benefits of acupuncture depends on what you want to improve in your life. One thing I've gotten out of it, is better sleep. I used to get 5-6 hours of sleep. Now, I get more relaxed at night, fall asleep easier and sooner, and get about 7-8 hrs. of sleep. I have other things I'd like to achieve with acupuncture, but I think it'll take some time. It's been nearly four months, so we'll see!! The acupuncture itself is relaxing. I'm lying down, on a heated pad, with a pillow and blanket. There's a heater at my feet, in a dimly lit room (it's like when you go in for a massage), and an eye pillow to block out the dim lights. It feels so good. Like I'm in a warm cocoon. I usually fall asleep, and when I wake up I feel a little drowsy because the sleep is so good, that I don't want to wake up. I love coming here and Morgan is awesome. The business is this peaceful, little sanctuary, on the second floor of a row of shops right next to Whole foods. It is a really clean, relaxing place. I started going to see Dr. Elise Schroeder at Blossom Clinic about a year ago. My husband and I had been battling fertility issues for about 5 years. We had adopted a little girl and I was finally ready to get my body back on track for me, not just for fertility. Dr. Elise prescribed a few things and recommended a few small life and diet changes. Within 2 months I was pregnant! What a wonderful surprise it was. We had given up on pregnancy and decided our family of 3 was our future. She is incredible - not only does she absolutely know her stuff, but she's friendly and down-to-earth and lacks the ego that so many other practitioners tend to have. Her Amma bodywork is phenomenal, and we recently starting doing gua sha on some serious knots in my back - I've suffered back pain/stiffness/scar tissue my entire life, and Amma/gua sha are the only things that have worked to really alleviate my pain. I visited five times for fertility. I prefer more personalized service. I felt as though Liz, the practitioner, didn't review my file before each appointment as I had to remind her where I was in my cycle. I also like to have the practitioner check me after the treatment to see how it went before I leave the office. I had to remind her several times and twice found needles accidentally left in me as I was driving home. It may be that my appointment was right before lunchtime and she was hurrying out. I understand that we all have lots on our minds, but I felt that I wasn't a priority during my appointment. I'm going to try another place.
