The coffee is okay. It's a bit gimmicky, it's very much sweet and sugary. The all-girls Baylor dorm is right up the other side of the street so I get it. It's a bit cramped during rush hours or when the Waco tours come by. I usually opt to go to Heritage next door since I love ice cream over coffee. I do like their white fang and their chai tea latte. But when I do have coffee I much prefer straightforward​ coffee. It is a nice place to meet up with friends but I don't do much studying here as a Baylor student. read more

Very alice in wonderland feeling w all the odds and ends. You can get lost there, each corner; indoor and outside; is a chapter of its own book. The variety of drink choices on the menu is all handcrafted and well put together. It's right next to Baylor university's in Waco. You'll find a lot of students cozied up studying or enjoying time w their mates. When you step outside you feel like your entering- secret garden meets Woodstock. Out-door live music and great coffee go really well with the food truck sitting right outside the outdoor patio area. Environment is a neat setting. Would be the only reason I'd come back. I ordered the "Red Eye"... I'd say they should name it the "Brown Eye" because it tasted like ass. I always appreciate great customer service and in this case, wasn't up to par. I'll pass on a future visit. What I drank: Iced Latte (I'm a little on the bland side of coffee but the coffee was great) We stopped at Common Grounds on Thursday April 6th, 2017. We are from Madison WI but were visiting Magnolia Market for a few days and remembered seeing Common Grounds featured in Fixer Upper. Although I got a plain latte, their espresso was still a perfect amount and had a delicious taste. My friend got something that had their secret sauce in it. We think the special sauce may have been white chocolate & coconut?? Either way, all of it was 5-stars worthy. The atmosphere at Common Grounds was so chill and inviting. There were so many places to sit and so many different tables and chairs. It was all different but fit in a good way. We sat in the back by the stage. There were a lot of students there working on homework or meeting with friends but the noise was only average, not too loud at all. Seeing all of the college kids there got us missing our days in college and wishing we had a cool place to go to like Common Grounds. The staff were working hard the entire time and keeping up with the busy line they had. And, even though it was busy, they were still handing out the finished orders in a good amount of time. I definitely recommend going here while you are in Waco. It was truly one of the best coffee shops I have ever been too. There is no question as to why Chip & Joanna Gaines like it too. I'm a no sugar, no cream type of gal so I was basic and got an Americano and it was as expected: good. Black. Moderately strong. My dad was a good "tourist" and got one of the offered famous coffee drinks from here. I smelt it and got a little taste of froth and it was g99d. The coffee was quality, so I hate to leave a negative review, but the service was very rude. My fiancée ordered a flat white for me, and the barista criticized the order and said, "Like the one at Starbucks? We can only do a cappuccino." I think it goes without saying that an employee in a service position should not diminish a customers choice in order; it's highly unprofessional. The situation is worsened by the fact that they refused to make the requested item, despite it being a fairly popular espresso drink. I urge ownership to stress the importance of the relationship between customer and employee, especially in an establishment like a coffee shop. read more

For the first time, I went out to Common Grounds to see my wonderful friend perform. And i must say, that its actually a REALLY cool area. The sound was pretty great and the vibe was very chill, and not because it was cold out. But if i had to recommend an acoustic artist to perform somewhere in Waco, CG would def be an option. This place is iconic and certainly a place to check off your list when visiting Waco. There's usually a line when Baylor is in session or a Saturday morning when people are going to the Silo's. They have always had excellent live bands and sometimes a few famous ones will play there last minute. My favorite thing to order the frozen Milky Way. Common grounds is a really fun spot practically on Baylor's campus. They have a pretty large selection of drinks and are always changing things up with their seasonal menu. Generally I'd come here to catch up with friends over studying, but if you come during the day when classes are still in session it can be relatively quiet. Waco tours do roll through fairly often and I tend to feel very in the way while standing waiting for my drink, regardless of how busy it is. Recently their pastry selection has been prime. They have a cool atmosphere with mismatched furniture, and Wednesday's are open mic night! They also occasionally host concerts or markets in their backyard. read more

If you are ever around Baylor university, make sure to stop by this place! It is amazing. Weather you live coffee, tea, or smoothies. My favorites are Carmel crunch coffee, and strawberry banana smoothie. At night they have live bands outside on the back patio. Cute hipster feel to the joint. A lot of college kids always there. So if this is not your scene you may want to order and go. However, the selection, and friendly helpful staff will not let you down. I for one love sitting on the side patio under the outside heater, with my warm cup of coffee on those cold winter days. It's very peaceful. If you've got a laptop, feel free to bring it, most do. Okay y'all. Common grounds is LEGIT. As a Baylor student, living at Kokernot, it takes less than 2 minutes to get to their "off-campus" location. The drinks are outstanding, and highly caffeinated, the baristas are super accommodating and nice to talk to, and the vibe is great! Love going here to study, and pick up one of their actually outstanding drinks! Highly recommend an Iced Cowboy, No Bull, or an all-nighter for the extra boost of energy. Drip coffees are also great! I'm a Starbucks junkie, but even the on-campus Starbucks tastes crappy, and the dining hall coffee is even worse (sorry Baylor, but it's true). CG is the perfect caffeine fix, and their 2nd location in the SUB is great! The only comment I would make is that they don't list prices. I wish that they were posted on the menu, and I didn't have to ask the barista every time I wanted to try a new drink!! read more

Common Grounds has such a warm and inviting atmosphere, so it was perfect for a first date with someone I matched with on Bumble! It was uniquely casual enough to take the pressure off of the date. This was the best place I've ever had coffee at. Yes, even better than Starbucks. I was on a field trip with my class and I was upset that we didn't go to Starbucks but after having my energy drink here I was completely happy. Love the cozy couches, fun music, and the fact that I can see all my friends here on any given day! The coffee is coffee - I'm not an expert, but I don't think there's much that would please a coffee snob here. It's a college coffee shop, and it plays that role well. However, the craft kombucha that they sell from Austin, Buddha's Brew, is AMAZING. They have great flavors to go along with the fizzy goodness. Tons of fun bands have played here since I've lived in Waco, including Phil Wickham, Switchfoot, Trip Lee, and David Ramirez (these are just the handful that I've gone to.) They also have movie nights in the backyard which is super fun! Now, they're opening a gourmet creamery next door with amaaaaazing flavors. I'm excited to see them out of the ice cream cart and into the cute house next door. OVERALL: fun environment with good coffee if you're just in it for the flavor and buzz. read more
