We are here visiting friends. They suggested this and it was spot on. There was no waiting on Mother's Day evening. The menu described the dishes accurately but it needs pictures and scents. Our server was super helpful and put up with our craziness. We can be a bit much. She suggested desserts. Again, there was no way to describe these desserts adequately. I had the peach cobbler. I'm from near the peach capital of Oklahoma. This was THE BEST peach cobbler that I've ever had. It was served with cinnamon ice cream that was AMAZING. The view of the Brazos River was perfect. Decent. Food has no flavor. Prices are expensive for what you get. The best thing I have ordered on the menu was the chicken Alfredo that's not really Alfredo but it was amazing! Don't know what sauce but ITS NOT ALFREDO if your expecting your typical Alfredo that's not what it is. Blackened chicken had great flavor but every fish order is bland. I went with a group of 15 and we waited and waited and waited took 50 mins to get drinks bc they lost our ticket..... then another hour and a half to get food... we got there at 6:00pm and didn't get out of there until almost 9:30pn.. crazyyyt service needs work!! The Brazos Landing was close to my hotel and the menu looked good, so I gave it a try. A Tuesday afternoon was not very busy, so I was seated very quickly. Right on the edge of the Brazos River is a beautiful place to have supper. I went with the blackened trio, which was shrimp, fish and chicken. Nice looking place. I'd recommend sitting inside. We sat in the bar area and it stunk like dead fish because of the nasty river water. Service was good. Food was overpriced and bland. The fish tasted like it was fresh out of the dirty river. Really nothing had any flavor. All the food was overcooked and dry with no seasoning. The andouille sausage was really good though. We took 70% of the food home and ended up throwing it away because the dogs would not eat it. Sad day. read more

This is a very cute restaurant that is right on the Brazos. River, and I'm sure it has a lot of history. It is also conveniently located by Baylor and right off of I 35. They have a private parking lot and plenty of parking. Also literally by the river and you can watch the turtles as entertainment. They have a variety of different foods. This was my first time here, and I was excited when I saw that they had gator oysters and catfish, because those are some of my favorite foods. I ordered the 3 meat combo that with some Brussels sprouts and their black truffle fries, and I also got a adult cocktail, the black Manhattan. Our waitress, was very friendly and answered our questions about the menu. Our food came out fairly quickly even though they were a little busy on a Saturday. When I got my food, it was hot and I really enjoyed my fries and my Brussels sprouts. My drink was also really tasty also. I was a little disappointed by my oysters. Catfish and gator. The gator bites were really small, and none of it was seasoned, very well. I first asked for cocktail sauce, but that wasn't enough. So then I added hot sauce that helped. Meh. Ordered chips and queso. Chips were slightly stale and under salted. No salt on the table. Queso was extremely thick, so much so that chips broke trying to scoop it. Sons ordered burgers- they liked them. They like everything. Husband ordered chicken fried steak- it was huge- and he said it was fine. That's why we're giving this place three stars and not less. My daughter and I split fried catfish and shrimp. Shrimp was ok. A little bland. Catfish was soggy, unseasoned, and tasted slightly like the lake. Could not finish it. Fries seemed to be from Swanns. Very corn starchy. Hush puppies were good. Cole slaw was good. Bill was enormous. This place is way too expensive for the quality. Server was fine. She was new so she's getting a pass. read more

The owner, Ms. Lindsey, helped me set up my 35th high school reunion dinner here on Friday, June 13. It was wonderful! We had a buffet set up for our get-together on the riverside deck. After the sun went down, the misters and fans kept us cooled while the food, drinks, and great service from Thomas and the other waitstaff kept us happily pleased! We could not have had a greater time! The backdrop of the river with downtown Waco was perfect for our group photos and Thomas came through again and took great shots of our entire group. We had a great experience at Brazos Landing. Was a little concerned when we pulled up and they were table cloths and servers as the last time I had been here was when it was sneaky Pete's. They've definitely upscaled things. We went on a Sunday and it was rather quiet with beautiful views right around sunset. The menu was plentiful. And we enjoyed everything that we got. Waited over 30 mins just to get waters, waited about 45 min + to get alcoholic beverages. Lemon drop martini was so awful, i've never had one made wrong before but it was very sour, not sweet at all, and no sugar on the rim - however our server was very nice about it and and took it off for us. Finally we ordered food after over an hour, one server was very slow and then a second one started helping us which seemed to help some. Food was good, everyone seemed to enjoy what they got. Spinach dip, ahi tuna, chilean sea bass, truffle fries and brussel sprouts were great. A few items could have been much better including the lobster mac and cheese. I would be willing to go back again to try other food items maybe, but hopefully the service will be better. I really wanted to try the smoked gouda short rib mac and cheese but they were out of that, understandable. Restaurant is pretty quiet, we sat by the water where you can see all the turtles and fish which the kids loved. Since this changed from Buzzard Billy's they're trying to be an upscale place and they are not. The food is not amazing, just ok. My beer was given to me in a bottle and it was not cold. Wanted a cold mug but our server was so inattentive I went to get it myself. Mug was not cold either. Dinner was an hour and a half on a Wednesday, with no appetizers ordered. The service was just not there. And I also do not like when servers drag tables and chairs around cleaning up. We probably won't be back which is sad because we liked it as Buzzard Billy's. Super cute place! Decorated modern and clean. Great service! Our 3 y/o had fun feeding the turtles and ducks. There is a vending to get food to feed the fish for 25c. Overall food was good!! We had mozzarella cheese sticks, chicken fried steak, and kids chicken tenders. Even though close to downtown Waco/ Baylor it was easy to park. If I could give 0 stars I would. We were the first ones to arrive when the door opened. It took forever to get drinks brought to our table. We waited for over an hour for our food. When we asked about our food, the owner came to our table and told us that we could go to McDonald's to get boxed service food. I have never been treated so terribly in a restaurant. I have been coming to this place for over 13 years. Since the new ownership it has gone down hill in service and food. I brought a group here with me and it was an embarrassment. The Brazos Landings has the BEST and Biggest chicken fried steak I've ever had. The breading was so light and crispy and the meat made of ribeye was so so tender. The size of the steak was ginormous. The grits, served like a cup of rice, was flavorful with the texture exactly how a grit should be- not too hard or too grainy. Parmesan risotto was smooth and I could taste to parmasan yet not overpowering or salty. We also had the elote corn ribs. Yum!!!the cheese and seasoning so good. Not salty at all and the corn was grilled to perfection. Service was great too. No complaints on service. It was a typical Friday dinner crowd - busy. My only complaint is that the main dish arrived less than five minutes after the appetizers though we ordered them (appetizers) the same time as our drinks. read more

This cute little restarting has a cozy atmosphere along the Brazos River. I love that they have indoor seating options with huge windows, or a covered patio that can also be fully enclosed. The food is pretty good, not the best I've had but it's decent. My husband said his steak was good, and I really enjoyed the chicken fried steak sliders as my meal. Their portions are also very generous! The side of brussle sprouts were not good however, they were soggy and had a weird taste. I just would many order those again. We ordered beers and the appetizer sampler platter where you can choose three items. We got Armadillo Eggs which is bacon wrapped, deep fried, jalapeño and cheese, deep fried chicken breast rolled in s ball; fried pickles and chips and queso. Each was very good and we'd order it again, the Armadillo Balls were my favorite. We received good service. It is very easy to miss the driveway if you don't know exactly where it is. the visit was disappointing. Apparently there is a new executive chef and he has changed some recipes. What my wife loved the last visit she did not like this time. A fried combination was not remarkable. A ton of oysters and alligator and only 3 shrimp. None were very flavorful. Hushpuppy was great. The alligator small dried out overcooked pieces.
