If you are looking for a luxury hotel and bustling nightlife, look elsewhere…read more But if you are looking for a charming motel on a quintessential and quaint island in Maine, look no further. Overlooking the water, the Bailey Island Motel provides comfy beds, large rooms, soft towels, and a quiet escape from the world. Within walking distance of a couple local restaurants and a short drive from another, delicious food is nearby. Land's End Beach (not THAT Land's End) is five minutes away. Be sure to check it out at low tide and collect some shells or pieces of sea glass. All I ask is that you save a room for me at this nearly hidden gem.

Thinking about accommodations, we found everything near the school was already booked. Driving around the area we came across this sweet, little motel. The view was breath taking! We parked and walked in. We were greeted with a lovely lady, Connie, who gave us all the information we needed to book rooms for us and other members of our family. The time came this weekend for my daughters graduation and the Bailey Island Mote could not have been a better place to stay. We love it! It was so unique, charming, accommodating, and amazingly affordable. I highly recommend staying here is you are in the area. Ask for one of the rooms upstairs so you don't miss out on the view.

Great location, lots of parking. 6-minute walk to LL Bean, there's a Domino's around the corner…read more.. There's an historic chapel that people get married at on site. Going at the early days of January has its downfalls being so cold. However, in the warmer months, it's nice to see the string lights & fire pit outside. We were able to check in nearly 2 hrs. early, likely due to the off-season / Hilton Honors. A quick phone call was it all it took to confirm if we could come early, as we were ahead of schedule. Sonia deserves kudos for being so responsive, friendly & goes above & beyond. Not only did she let us check in early, but she gave us information on local restaurants & their in-house restaurant's hours of operation. She was also the one to answer my text messages that I received as a 'welcome'. Great customer service & patience. Few things to note for why I gave 4 out of 5 stars: - The indoor pool is heated but the water itself is lukewarm. - The towels for the pool were 'crunchy' / not soft. - Our room (226) was comfortable & relatively clean, however: -- The last people that stayed left greasy handprints / marks from their heads on the headboard -- The shower was sketchy in regard to the shower head having a build-up of calcified hard water & pink around the caulking. As far as breakfast is concerned, it's $14.95 for a very basic buffet. I paid a little extra for 'free' breakfast. Nice dining area, food prepared very well. Nice staff. Overall, nice stay & great for groups based on my observations.

Water doesn't drain properly in shower so a person stands in an inch or two of dirty water. Spend your precious vacation dollars elsewhere. The previous night we stayed in a Microtel Inn Geneva, NY, and while the accommodations are spartan, the facilities were clean, updated, and pest-free.
