We even confirmed the reservation just yesterday. We're staying at Spruce Point Inn and literally saw the boat leave this morning -- with a different group. We were told it was due to a new scheduling system, and that the other group's trip had been canceled the day before. But it's incredibly frustrating and hard to accept that our private charter, which had been booked far in advance, was the one that got bumped last minute. There was no meaningful apology. Just an offer to rebook us for tomorrow (when the weather looks terrible) or refund us. No real effort to make things right. This was supposed to be a highlight of our trip -- instead, it left us scrambling and disappointed on a very important and personal day. Totally unacceptable. I would not recommend trusting this company with your plans, especially if you're celebrating something meaningful.

From the second we walked in this felt like a one of a kind experience. The table was set beautifully, Virginia and her team were so welcoming, and she is so incredibly knowledgeable. After the oyster tasting we enjoyed a lobster roll and then hopped on Captain Joe's boat for a tour of an oyster farm and a ride around this beautiful midcoast area. Timing of the tides worked out so that we got to see a bunch of seals. Captain Joe also helped us shuck some oysters while we enjoyed delicious rum punch cocktails he whipped up on the boat. We ended the tour with a beautiful sunset before heading back to the dock. Since moving to Maine seven years ago, it seems like during summertime, all the classic destinations have become so overrun with tourists and certain activities and places that are my go-tos have lost a bit of their charm. I think that's what I loved so much about Lady Oyster. Located in a tiny little peninsula village called West Point, it is off the beaten path, and almost feels like stepping back in time. I would 10/10 recommend Lady Oyster to anyone looking for a true hidden Maine gem. I hope to come back this winter for one of her dinners!

Some of us stayed in cabins, a distance away from the tent sites. While they were rustic, the were exceptionally cleaned and fully stocked. They did sell a few things including firewood for sale, but no store. You could also get lobsters cooked and delivered to your site. There was a beach, and large grassy clearing in front of the beach and boat launch. Also, very close to Reid State Park. Our group was over 40 people ranging in age from 1yr old to 75 yr old. The campground met the needs of the full age range.

The staff is super friendly and the store sells ice and other necessities. Every RV spot has a great ocean view and a personal trash bin that campground staff picks up everyday. No fault of the campground obviously but it was abnormally hot when we visited for 3 nights. The horseflies were very intense and were hard to get away from without being in the RV. The area is very tidal and you can walk very far out at low tide. It's a fun campground in a unique setting. Highly recommend but be prepared for all types of weather.

I'm sure they'll say, "Sorry, it's in the cancellation policy that we don't offer refunds, but rather credit for future retreats." There is a central function room that can be used for so many things ..we used it for our art studio work and instruction times. In the room there is heat and air conditioning or you can open the windows and doors to get wonderful fresh air. The whole center is located right on the beach. Absolutely beautiful. There are a number of cabins and a couple dorm style areas. The cafeteria is spacious and so nice. The food is fresh and the recipes are well executed. (Every meal we ate too much because it was so good.) The people who work around the center are friendly and generous and helpful. Multiple groups can be there at the same time. We are planning to use this place again next year we were so impressed.
