I got a hand pie (was supposed to be the cheeseburger, but ended up with the sweet potato) and a lemonade. The hand pie was amazing, with fresh, flaky crust and wonderful filling...no regrets on the flavor mix-up. I should note the size was more of a turnover/appetizer so not enough to make a meal. The lemonade was fresh and refreshing, though it was more on the tart side so plan to add sugar if you like yours on the sweeter side. For something sweet I tried the brownie and it was really good if not overly moist, something closer to a flourless torte. Like most things on the island the prices weren't cheap, but the quality was there so I'd definitely recommend trying this place out for baked goods or a nice snack.

Sadly I think we were next to the family room, and the party next door had unruly kids that were loud and we heard lots of running, banging and noise, which was frustrating, especially since it is in an otherwise quiet/secluded area and has a very upscale boutique feel which wouldn't seem to attract larger groups. I couldn't tell if they were next to/above us/or both. It was annoying. From the moment we arrived, I was blown away at how handicap accessible Steve & Sherri had made our cabin (12 A&B). Steve came right outside, got wheelchair chair ramps for us, had already put up handicap handles in the shower and on the toilet. Each cabin I've been in, is always so clean. So neat. They have cute signs up that make them feel "homey". And my Gram especially liked the hanging plant in front of our cabin. Me & my entire family HIGHLY recommend this getaway!!!

The property was listed on the Home Away vacation rental site as having broadband and wireless internet and cable TV as a cottage amenities. There were several problems upon our arrival. The house smelled very strongly of mold. The bedding was threadbare, and also smelled strongly of mold, as did the towels, causing problems for those guests with asthma and allergies. There was no internet access of any kind. There was one (sporadically available) TV channel. The vehicle provided for an extra $200 fee stalled repeatedly. In addition, the owner called me during my stay asking me to water the grounds, which I found rather surprising! With no internet access or reliable transportation, I was forced return home 5 days early. I contacted the owner to discuss her deceptive advertisement on Home Away, and to ask for a partial refund to compensate for the lack of internet connectivity and a reliable vehicle. She promised to "review the situation" and get back to me. However, I have not heard from her since. I have not received a refund, and she has not returned my $200 security deposit. She also removed her original advertisement from the Home Away site, and they are currently investigating my complaint. Needless to say, I don't recommend this rental! Nice view, that's about it.

Right by the ocean in Scarborough, you can hear the waves as you go to sleep. The beach is available for walking just over the sand dunes, and you can still find an occasional sand dollar. Orchard Beach is also lovely, a quick walk or drive takes you to Bayley's lobster pound, pick up a lobster they will steam it and crack it, and eat it on the porch. Walking in here you can feel the tension wash off. The fireplace has a burns quote on it, and there is a scrabble set and other board games if you have had enough of watching the Atlantic Ocean out the windows. There are no televisions, there is no wi-fi, The proprietor makes coffee in the morning. And she will loan you lobster forks and crackers if you forget to get your lobsters cracked at the pound.

Everything was wonderful, from the location, to the room, to the friendly owners as well as the other patrons. For three days there was never a grumpy face among anyone. There was only one negative thing: being woken by the smell of sunrise potatoes being made for breakfast. Revenge was gotten by eating the culprit so all was good in the end. We signed a 3 year lease spending the 1st year there mostly on weekends and occasional days during the week, once we made it our single home after selling our house over a year ago reality set in. A lot of people will think they want to live at their favorite vacation spot until you live with the reality of random people who can & will walk/run by your living room sliders just feet away from your so called privacy at all times of day and night, it is a motel... When we were 1st there the night sky was amazing until an enormous flag went up that needs enormous lights to illuminate it every night. Then once the property owner's primary home was reportedly (by him) auctioned off he moved his family into one of the homes, (the former renters of that unit had a year plus lease, apparently they bailed within a few months), shortly after that the ongoing state of construction seemed to increase. With the heavy equipment and contractors trucks / trailers coming and going we woke one morning this past spring to the back of my wife's SUV having the rear corner punched in, we surely could not confirm that it happened in the parking lot so the next day I put a web cam pointing out back..damage done but we at least tried to be more careful. Dogs are (seemingly) not allowed on the property but one day earlier this year his contractor's 70lb dog came bounding into our open door (I thought we couldn't have dogs in the home!!). We love dogs and the dog was a known frequent guest on the property while the newest building was going up. We dodged a bullet with the just announced boil water alert for the surrounding area due to E Coli found in the water just recently! The positive is that the ocean view is great though being on the wrong side of RT1A you become very familiar with just how loud motorcycles can be and even worse the new trend of extreme stereo systems on some bikes. Again, short stay vs long stay. We creatively "negotiated" our way out of the lease conveniently before the cold winter months started and we have the mutually agreed lease termination document to prove it (one of the landscapers told my wife that he was sorry to hear that we were evicted?? A family member of mine heard the same story from a mutual friend that has absolutely nothing to do with any party involved. Where did this defaming lie originate?) Any way we left wondering how we stayed in such cramped space as long as we did! We have returned to being home owners once again and live just miles from the old Crown Colony. For future vacations that are near $3k for a week my wife and I can stay all inclusive in the Caribbean resort with food/drink & airfare included!
