Bed and Breakfast establishments aren't the norm for me, but when it was time for our ladies trip to Maine, I acquiesced for a B&B instead of other options. In retrospect, I would have missed a treat had we not stayed at the Brewster House Bed & Breakfast on Main Street in Freeport, Maine. Owned and run by Kelleigh and Dave, the latter is a trained chef, and the former is a consummate professional in caring for their customers. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of their children and heard a couple of hilarious stories about some oil changing mishaps. Turns out, the breakfast part of the B&B is my element. Instead of one long table, which some B&Bs provide, Brewster House offers smaller tables for two or in our case, tables together to accommodate three guests. We were all seated in one room, a dark blue-walled space with white antique dishes and a moose head as decoration, close enough to talk, yet separated enough to have private conversations. All of us guests chatted and laughed and shared stories as Kelleigh deftly served and described each day's three courses. Dave occasionally looked out, but seemingly a bit shy for compliments stayed in his kingdom of that wonderful kitchen. Here's to Dave who shared some of his culinary acumen in the forms of shirred eggs with fresh greens, firm peaches donned with whipped topping, blueberry-kissed French toast, and so very moist waffles with dreamy homemade syrup. The bath towels were of good, heavy quality, which is important to me and the lotions and soap with little images of a Maine village were nice touches. Being from Florida, we weren't certain if we were dreaming at night when air conditioning was not needed. The property is several decades old and one can hear that when ascending and descending stairs, but they were sturdy so that's all that really matters. I sat on the multi-colored rockers on the porch at the side a time or two and absorbed the peace that I felt at Brewster House. I may never visit Maine again, but Brewster House Bed & Breakfast is etched into my memory as one of my favorite things about my first visit to Freeport, Portland and surrounding quaint towns in Maine. If you ever plan on visiting the area, give this historic location a try. read more

I will happily break down the experience my husband & I had at the Brewster House B&B for Sat. 03/11 - Sun. 03/12/23. WEBSITE & BOOKING A ROOM: - Mapped out website to understand more about the inn & policies. - Easy to navigate, view room availability & select desired room. - Wonderful photos of each room with sq. ftg. noted. - Lots of information of what's around / things to do in the area. INNKEEPERS: - The level of communication is great. I had sent an email with additional questions & was answered timely. They also use a method of texting as well as leave their phone #'s. - We paid for a 12pm check-in & Dave greeted us. He gave a tour & a mini history lesson about the building, which was so interesting! - Kelleigh waited on us for breakfast & was delightful. She'd engage in quick conversation & swiftly served us each course. THE ROOM (#4 - PERMQUID POINT LIGHTHOUSE): - Super clean, cozy & romantic. - The queen bed was comfortable with many layers of sheets, a down comforter & quilt-like blanket on top. - The (2) chairs by the window served as a nice area for me & my husband to enjoy a beer from the "Big Brewstah" keg & chat. - There are robes with slippers which make the stay all the more comfortable. - The thermostat is programmed, but it's allowed to change the temperature. - There isn't a mini fridge in the room (not sure if there are in the other rooms). 3-COURSE BREAKFAST: - Served ONLY between 8am to 9am (as long as you arrive in that hour). They do ask if there are any dietary restrictions prior. - As previously mentioned, Kelleigh was our server & hostess. - The hot coffee is French pressed & packed with flavor. - Dave has some serious cooking skills & we appreciated the use of locally sourced, fresh ingredients. - It was a very filling & delicious menu that Dave creates uniquely for each morning. ADDITIONAL NOTES & TIPS: - The parking is a bit tight; there are (3) spots at the front of the inn or the overflow is at the end of the driveway. - Each room has a key & a deadbolt (which can only be locked from the inside). - Downstairs area, neighboring the dining room, there is a living room area with shelves of books & a few games. - The busy season for the Brewster House B&B is around the 4th of July. read more

My wife and I recently stayed here after doing some research online and had an incredible time. The house is beautiful inside and out. We checked in with Dave and Kelleigh and they provided us a trove of information on the area and things to do in the area. We opted for the romantic package which I think is a great deal given the cost of the gift card and beer flight or wine. We opted for the beer flight on our package. Dave mentioned he loved craft beer and he was not lying. They had Maine Beer, Definitive, and Bissell Brothers on tap which was a great spread for just a BnB! We enjoyed every beer we tried. We stayed in the Cape Neddick room and it was one of the cleanest rooms we had ever stayed in. Bedding and towels were comfy as well. We stayed a total of two nights and wow - just wow the breakfasts were something else. The three courses each morning were the most delicious breakfasts I had... period. Day 1 - Fruit and yogurt, amaretto brioche French toast with sour cherry syrup, and shirred eggs. Day 2 - Roasted pear, breakfast soufflé, crumb cake. Everything was served as if it was a work of art and equally tasty. Even the coffee they made us in the morning was French pressed! Overall the hospitality was top notch and I personally wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Freeport. I the location, experience, staff, food, and value just cannot be beat! read more

The innkeepers were super nice and accommodating. We stayed in the Pemaquid Point room which was very clean, and the bathroom was great. Nothing like a nice bath and a cozy robe after a long drive. Not to mention the "big brewster" machine, which dispenses local bear 24/7 as wanted. 5$ and you can chill in your room or on the porch after a long hike. The three course breakfast was also excellent. French press coffee with a delicious blueberry parfait, waffles with local sausage, and baked eggs. Everything was an appropriate portion and well cooked. I've been to a couple of bnb's but this one is the first one with such a cozy and chill vibe. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area, and will likely be coming back read more

My wife & I spent two wonderful nights at the Brewster House recently and Dave & Kelleigh made our stay so nice, we'll definitely return! From the wonderful breakfast each morning (the bacon is incredible) to great advice on places to go & see and our very comfortable room, we really didn't want to leave! It's close to all of the shopping but far enough away for some peace & quiet. We've stayed at many B&B's over the years and some you instantly feel welcomed, others not so much. My husband and I stayed at the Brewster House over the Thanksgiving holiday. It had easily been 17 years since our last trip to Freeport. After some research we discovered the Brewster House B&B which looked amazing with convenient walking to shopping and dining in town. To say we were not disappointed in our selection would be an understatement. We have never stayed at a B&B where a chef prepares a 3 course breakfast every day!! The food was amazing!! Dave (chef) and Kelleigh are absolutely fantastic inn keepers and make sure guests are well taken care of. If breakfast wasn't a deal sealer for a return visit the #bigbrewstah was the icing on the cupcake. #bigbrewstah is a frig featuring a tap system of local beers and totally on the honor system. Our guest room was absolutely perfect and well appointed. Clean, comfortable and plenty of space. Every evening fresh baked cookies were offered in the foyer, always a perfect end to a day of shopping and exploring Freeport. This B&B is absolutely fantastic. My wife and I had a truly great experience here in July of 2013. We spent 2 nights. Scott and Mary, the innkeepers, are both genuinely wonderful people. The breakfast is to die for. Everything was delicious and Scott keeps the coffee flowing. We were in the Portland Head Suite. The room, bathroom and TV room were spotless. The giant king size bed was so comfortable it was hard getting up in the morning! The location is about 2 blocks away from all the shops and food - perfect setting away from all the noise. The town got a bit crowded so having that little distance was a blessing. Wi-Fi worked great and is free. We cannot wait to get back! We love Maine and having this B&B just makes it that much better. read more

A wonderful breakfast was made each morning with freshly ground coffee in a press. Scott and Mary make sure everything is perfect. Had an amazing experience at The Brewster House Bed and Breakfast. I am so glad my daughter and I chose that accommodation vs a hotel chain. It was so personalized and truly relaxing. Then the best part was the breakfast in the morning! Which was included in the room and we got a high end gourmet experience. No simple continental breakfast here or regular eggs. This was top notch dining experience with every impressive detail. Pressed fresh coffee, unique juices, starters like pouch pear and espresso flavored mascarpone dollop with a magical sauce! I can't say a single bad thing about our stay here. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. They really took the extra steps to make you feel comfortable - there was an electric kettle in the room with tea and coffee, a small fridge outside in case you wanted to keep any wine or food, and plenty of power strips by the bed for your phones/ipads/laptops. Ruth and Scott were very hospitable - they made a lot of great recommendations for us while we were there, are ready to give out directions, and are willing to make reservations for you if you want! My husband loved the home-made cookies in the lobby every day (probably a little too much). Lastly, the breakfast served every morning was delicious, and they had great fresh juices and coffee. We ended up getting a great deal on the room because they had a get three nights for the price of two deal, but it would have been totally worth it to pay full price. Absolutely perfect experience. Rooms were cozy, location was perfect for beach or water sport activities. Breakfast was delicious, as my first bed and breakfast experience I didnt have high expectations but everything was freshly made in-house. We got lucky when visiting the weather was so beautiful, there are shops near by if you wanted to go shopping and Kelleigh and David are really warm hosts with welcoming personalities. 10/10 would recommend! read more

This was one of the nicest places we have stayed in Maine. Scott and Ruth were really accomodating. I loved that they were interested in what we were doing but didn't come around the corner every time we came through the door (that's happened to us before at other B&B's). The breakfast was incredible--always too much for me to finish but really delicious. The blueberry french toast is out of this world. Our room was the perfect size and I loved that we could set it at our own temperature. It was a great room and very relaxing. The whole house was lovely and such a close walk to all of the shopping. Absolutely excellent! Ruth and Scott and gracious and very easy to converse with. The rooms are large, and ours had an enormous bathroom. Beautiful home, quaint rooms, comfortable bedding, perfect house keeping, great location... But that's just the tip of the iceberg! Scott and Mary are two of the most accommodating hosts I have ever encountered. Mary used to be a teacher, and her patience and sweetness with children is amazing. My son has several frustrating food allergies, but it was no problem for Mary. Pancakes are my sons favorite, and with just a list of his allergies she was able to make him pancakes, granola, and fresh baked cookies! He hasn't always been so allergic, and going out to breakfast is probably the thing he misses most since his diagnosis 2 years ago. This made an already 5 star stay all the more special. While she cooked to accommodate his dairy, eggs, soy, seafood, and sesame allergies she also cooked a gluten free breakfast for the rest of us to cater to another guest. Both breakfasts each day were perfect! Crust less quiche with roasted potatoes, blueberry pancakes, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee... And that was just day one!
