The staff at Commonwealth Barber Shop are exemplary and I can't say enough good things about the service. Andre is an one of the best barbers I've had the privilege of getting a cut from. He listens to what you're asking and executes with precision and skill. He is also extremely personable and remembers me every time I come in. I am a military service member and have gone to Andre over the last few months after looking for someone to provide an excellent cut after having a few poor cuts in the past. Andre has been a master at his craft and I will continue to go back to him for my cuts in the future. Andre and Grant have an extremely clean and welcoming shop and their scheduling system is amazing. They take appointments and have always run on time. I can't recommend both them enough for a stellar haircut. They also do a warm neck shave which leaves a clean and crisp look to any haircut. You'd have to make a really great impression on me to leave a rating or review, so this place did just that. I tried this place out on a whim, the day before a job interview. You know how looking good + feeling good can really do that intangible wonders going into a job interview and getting a haircut here made me feel like that. Andre Marquez cut my hair, I told him how I'd like it done and he did it, I really liked my haircut. I'm pretty picky too with barbers, I hadn't really found a good one in Valencia and coming to Commonwealth which was not too far where I lived in Valencia was a great decision. The only one "bad" thing that happened and that was I got the job which now I had to move to Irvine. Just sad that I find a good barber and now I gotta move. But I went back about 4wks later since that interview as I start my new job in a few days so I wanted another fresh new haircut going into my first day at my new job. Very friendly staff, they offer you a beer, soda or water while you wait, Andre was a skillful barber and we had good conversation to pass the time and it was a really pleasant, up & coming place. This place is the nicest barbershop I have been to in my life and I have only had 3 different barbers only because I moved from the areas. Grant is a magician. As anyone would be, I was hesitant to try a new shop since I'm new to the area but after my first cut I knew he was my new barber. Found Commonweath after doing a search on Yelp for a barber. I don't have a set place to go in SCV, I generally bounce around to places that can fit me in with a same-day appointment or don't have a long wait - Something that is becoming increasingly rare out here. The shop is new to the area and is very clean with a nice old-school, gentleman's barbershop feel to it. There's a pool table upstairs, cold refreshments downstairs. Reception greeted me by name and let me know Grant would be in shortly (I was early, he was on time). Grant is a great barber and gave me a fantastic cut, all while keeping the chit-chat light and easy. Very comfortable shop, you don't feel rushed in and out of the chair, and the barbers take their time to give you a professional cut - but they don't take up an hour of your time like I've experienced at other places. I think i was in and out around 30 minutes, just the perfect amount to relax a bit and enjoy the haircut. Overall experience was great and I'll return for future haircuts. read more

Got recommended to Grant and got one hell of a great haircut. Walked in and said what I usually do to a barber, but he asked several questions to really know what I wanted and was doing with my hair. I have been taking my 11 yo son here for a few hair cuts now about every 6-8 weeks and we always see Lauryn. We have been playing around with different fade lengths ranging from 1-3 and they always seem to look great! To me, the shorter the better because it's less maintenance and it saves us time and money. My son's hair, although straight, is very thick and she uses these scissors that thin it out a bit on top. I always show her pictures for reference (Channing Tatum, Zac Efron type of clean cut look) beforehand and I am consistently happy with how his hair style turns out. Bonus points for always having us on or within a few minutes after our appointment time...we can all agree that it's the worst...why make an appointment when it's going to be super late am I right???
