If you're looking for a simple $30 haircut, there's plenty of options nearby in the SCV like Supercuts and Fantastic Sam's. We also have several really solid barbershop options as well. But, if you're looking for both a grooming experience and a place you can connect with folks, while you wait with a drink in hand watching the game or news, I highly recommend Hammer & Nails in general, but specifically this Valencia location. After a coworker left a flyer for Hammer & Nails at work and after going through it, I was drawn to the subscription option and purchased into the "classic club" membership. With two boys and a full beard myself, I thought I would definitely apply the services for all three of us, since the membership is transferable. My first service was a haircut for my 9 yr old son with "Q" and it was legit, thanks Q! For my 2nd service, I had an amazing beard cut with AJ, and she rocked it also. During my 2nd service I met the owner, Danita, and she's the reason why H & N gets my highest recommendation. Danita was VERY approachable, friendly and real. As a Marine Corps Veteran, we bonded instantly since Danita is also a Veteran herself. I came back for another beard trim with "Skip" this time, and he is the man, the myth, the legend, thanks Skip, solid! My last service was another cut for my boy and, again, it was a really tight and legit cut by AJ. Thanks AJ! We did have a subscription and miscommunication issue, but Whitney up front in the check-in lobby took care of it and handled everything with class and professionalism. No business is perfect, so if something comes up, the one thing you can hope for is to have the business "hear you out" and try and make things right. Both Danita and Whitney did just that. Starting with the greeting at the front desk by Dora (I think was her name), the tour of the facilities, and relaxing with a beer while I waited for my appointment. Then the actual haircut being excellent really sold me on this place. Shoutout to Eli who gave me a fantastic haircut (my daughters and wife loved the cut and thought I looked real dapper) and top notch service on top of being a super chill person. I scheduled an appointment for my husband for his birthday. Received a text message confirmation, arrived at the location 10 min before his appointment just so Whitney ( the front desk lady) tells me that his appointment isn't in the system "for some reason". She didn't even know what kind of appointment we had. He is bald and she asked if it was for a haircut. SMH I still tried and asked her if she could accommodate him and she said no. Great concept, but unfortunately the execution just hasn't matched the price point. I've now been here 5 times trying to give this place a fair shot, hoping the experience would become more consistent, but it's been the opposite. The biggest issue is the lack of consistency with my barber. My most recent visit was especially disappointing. The haircut and straight razor work were rough enough that I left and immediately went to another barbershop to have it corrected. Even while I was in the chair, I pointed out multiple issues, but it felt like the barber either didn't have the confidence or the skillset to properly fix them. What made it worse was walking out knowing several people in the shop saw the haircut and nobody stepped in or said anything. Everyone just smiled and sent me on my way looking uneven and unfinished. For the prices being charged, the level of experience and attention to detail should be much higher. What a great experience. I've been going to a barber over in Bakersfield for several years however, decided to try Hammer and Nails AJ cut my hair I showed her a picture and she did it perfectly. I will admit I didn't think I looked very good with this style of a haircut. My friend and coworker who accompanied me said it looked really really good. But the true test was the one I got home and my partner raved about the haircut. He's never raved about a haircut ever. He said you need to go back and get your haircut there from now on. I'll admit I'm still getting used to it. However I have decided to go ahead do a membership and partake of some of the other services Hammer and Nails offers. Everyone there was super nice and very welcoming. Initially Whitney gave me a tour and a rundown of the services they offer. She is super sweet. I also met the owner whose name escapes me. She was pretty incredible and Very welcoming. Malcolm and AJ were very nice people and take pride in what they do. I highly recommend this place I doubt that you'll be disappointed. I went here for a pedicure. Their prices are very similar to what other nail salons are around. But their expertise and focus is unsurpassed. I got one of the best pedicures of my life. No pain. I would leave zero stars if I could. If I could call this anything, it wouldn't be "grooming"--it would be assault with clippers. My dad went in with a long, full, healthy beard and walked out looking like he lost a fight with a weed whacker. The barber chopped it up so badly it looked like child scissors were involved. A lawn mower could've done a straighter, more professional job. And if that wasn't enough, he even hacked into my dad's haircut. One appointment, two disasters. Years of growing and maintaining a beard--gone in minutes. My dad had to come home and completely shave off what little mess was left, then pay another barber to fix the ruined haircut. Imagine walking into a "premium" grooming lounge and leaving with less than nothing. That's the Hammer & Nails experience. To the owner's credit, she was apologetic and didn't make my dad pay--which is the absolute bare minimum when you completely butcher someone's beard and hair. But let's be clear: no free service, no apology, and no "we'll do better next time" is ever going to replace what was lost. This place sells the illusion of being luxury, but can't even provide the basics of barbering. Save yourself the humiliation, the wasted time, and the regret. Overall the staff was great. I was happy with the haircut. I knocked off some stars due to a few issues. 1st was the scheduling. The time I scheduled was pushed by 15 minutes which I was notified an hour before my appointment because a client before me was late. I figured that wasn't a big deal since I scheduled my appointment to link with places I need to be afterwords. I got to the shop a few minutes before my newly timed appointment. I was greeted and given a tour and free drink since it was my first time visiting. My time to start came and gone. My haircut didn't start until almost 45 mins after my original time. 2nd, like I mentioned above, the barber did a great job with my haircut. Only strange thing was after my haircut was completed and it was time to pay, I got roasted by the owner. She began making comments about my shirt and mocking how I was answering her questions. I was surprised to hear this. I kept a smile and tried to be polite, but the jokes kept coming. Felt strange and confused. Amazing place, unlike any barbershop! Literally a salon for men! Denina and her husband the owners are great friendly people and especially Dora the front desk staff. All very welcoming and nice welcoming attitude and beautiful smiles. I had my hair cut done with Eve and Keonte and they were both amazing barbers. They literally cut it exactly how I wanted it and did a great fade. The massage and facial steamed towel hit the spot and they both styled my hair w pomeade perfectly afterwards. Horrible experience. Never go here. No to n style instead cuz this place has no idea what customer service is. My dad waited 35 to be helped when he had an appointment that I had already set up. No one greeted him no one gave him a time frame and after my dad complained for the 35 minute wait they offered not to charge my card and reschedule for tomorrow. No. If you can't fulfill your appointments call them ahead of time and ask them not to come. And don't treat them like they don't belong there. I had been waiting for this place to open and finally got a chance to give it a look. Ever since going to an 18/8 men's salon several years ago I'd been hoping for a similar place near home. It didn't disappoint. The place looks and feels like a man's cave, they did an amazing job on the aesthetics, including the bar. I spent an hour with Malcolm as he cleaned up my mop and beard, complete with straight edge shaping. His work was flawless. Their pricing is published, I found it reasonable, and there were no surprises. Haven't decided if I will commit to a membership, but I'm leaning towards it. Had initially booked for a pedicure but since I needed a trim . I booked a cut as well. First and foremost. My pedicure was amazing to say the least. I opted for the "sports pedicure" from an extensive list of options. The environment. Quiet man cave like with leather loungers and 6 seats with 6 screens to enjoy whatever entertainment you want with some Bose headphones. Classy! Offered some drink services. Since it was their grand opening. There were a few tours happening coming in n out of the room. Other than that.. let me tell you. The pedicurist, Jasmin . Great work. She most definitely made me all relaxed and pampered. She was very thorough and gentle. And to be honest. Even made me think of becoming a member. It was that good. Got me hooked. Being in hospitality myself. Service was more important than the environment. I am definitely coming back for her. If she moves to a different location. I'm following her! There's always a balance. Since I did come here for a cut I really didn't want to mention it and tbh I don't really like to write bad reviews. I usually give barbers second chances to redeem themselves unless it was just not what expected it to be. I had the pleasure of sitting in with Keonte. If I'm being honest, this place is extremely overpriced as well as overrated. I was booked for a " premium" haircut as they told me over the phone I'd get a free upgrade from the classic. I didn't even receive a hair wash, razor, outline, foam, and aftershave. They didn't give me any of these things. They simply just gave me a semi okay cut and that was it. I was hoping for the rest of the service that they claim to provide? No towels shampoos etc. after all of this they tried to charge me 90 dollars!! I told them that they were supposed to upgrade me for free from the classic style for the cheaper rate of 55 dollars. By the way even the classic cut is supposed to include the wash towel and more of things listed on their website. If I'm being bf completely honest you can get a way better cut for 1/4 of the price elsewhere. read more

Everyone in this place is super friendly and helpful. I had a great haircut with Keonte. I'm super picky about my hair so a first cut with someone new is always something I am nervous about. I told him what I wanted and he was attentive when I asked him to make some adjustments. It's always a turn off to me when someone doesn't seem to want my feedback on my own cut and Keonte really listened to me. My pedicure with Jasmin was fantastic. She was so pleasant and the space was so relaxing. The whole experience was just the break I needed.
