As someone who is often the designated driver i don't usually have the most amazing times at bars BUT this place is the bar to be at even when sober. This place is loaded with activities, games l, and tons of seating. I met up with some friends here this weekend and had the most fun just playing shuffle board and card games. They have a water station so you don't feel like you're annoying the staff asking for water refills. The menu looked pretty good although I did not have anything .... but I'm sure I'll be back to try some stuff. read more

Just got back from checking out the new digs and I'm still smiling. Wow - say hello to Buffalo's coolest new brewpub. I've always loved the beer, but now the space (very cool industrial vibe) and the food (one word: totchos) make this an absolute beer destination. A few highlights: - One really cool feature is that the servers place your oder on the spot with a tablet. As soon as the server walked away, our beer was delivered, and our food was ready just minutes later. - When you order food from your server, they ask for your cell number. When your food is ready, you get a text and walk back to a food pick-up window. Super easy. - For now, the food menu is limited to smaller dishes, but man, we were extremely impressed with the food. I had the totchos, which consisted of a big plate of tater tots covered in a dreamy cheese/garlic sauce. I'll be back many, many, many more times for the totchos. I also have to give CBW a shoutout for keeping the brewery embedded in the community. The space looks really great in its neighborhood surroundings and brings some much-needed new life to the area. Great beer!! Enjoyed the shoemaker-- probably not a traditional porter because I loved how light it was in flavor while still being a darker beer. They have a nice variety of beer, with some specialty brews mixed in with the standards. Let's Go Pils is a nice basic if you're not feeling adventurous. But everything else is really tasty, too! I've not had the food, but they do have a limited menu. In addition to the traditional bar food (pretzels, fries, burgers, etc.) they have some healthier choices like a Buddha bowl and hummus plate. There's a huge selection of dipping sauces, so if you get something dip-able choose wisely! I've now visited Community Beer Works a handful of times and love every visit. It's the kind of environment that is warm and welcoming. I actually don't come for the beer. I know people love it but I just haven't found one I love (but I'm also a light beer lover so don't judge based on my opinion). I really like the brunch though. The foods choices are creative and are combinations of foods I'd never think to put together but mesh perfectly. The Fried Green Tomatoes Eggs Benedict is my favorite. An odd thing that I love is the lighting and colors. It makes it really relaxing in there. Once I find a beer I love, this review will go up to five stars. I love this place! A warehouse look and feel but cozy and warm at the same time. Leads up to a cute and enclosed patio in the back. I've come here twice for drinks and once for brunch. While the food menu is limited, they have a nice and varied selection of beers. This latest time I tried the loganberry cider they carried - it was crisp and delicious. I've been here for a few events and to show friends the new location. But on every visit, I discover something new. Like the fact that they have a bunch of pinball machines on the second floor. My first few times here I didn't even know they had a game room on the second floor! The last time I was here they had added 5 or so pinball machine and they already had a shuffleboard table and a darts board. But don't come only for the beer and games, their food is also legit. This is one of my favorite bars in Buffalo! I used to go to the old location frequently because I loved the beers and the fact that they had board games always gave us something to do. I was able to go to the new location for brunch once. It was an amazing experience. It is much bigger than the old location and is very open. The food was delicious; I had the brunch burger and my boyfriend had the breakfast burrito. We both loved our food. We also got a flight of beer, which was great. All the workers were super friendly. There is a pinball arcade area and they still have the board games. They also hold events just about every weekend which is cool. When we went, there were a few cats for a cat adoption event. What a great venue! My wife and I went for the first time and loved it! The beers were fantastic, we tried 5, and would drink them all again! An open, aesthetically pleasing, multi level space with a game room! Very casual feel, as my wife and I sat upstairs and enjoyed our brews, we played board games and cards. I came here for a Saturday afternoon when my animal rescue organization was having an event Community Beer Works was generous enough to host for us. I had never been here prior and as soon as I walked in I thought everything looked really cool. There's a big bar, tables both on the first level to eat/drink at or there's a second level that pretty open that you can be seated to eat at. It was summer time so they have yard games out front like Cornhole and spike ball. Then there's a open patio area or back which was really nice as well. There's TONS of board games, table games, and a shuffleboard table inside. They were serving brunch until 3pm so along with our drinks we ordered some. I got the breakfast sandwich which came with homefries on the side. The sandwich was delicious with the roll toasted well and a garlic spread on it. The homefries had a maple flavoring it seemed which I could do without but I still enjoyed them. I'm not a beer drinker so I appreciate when a brewery place also has liquor, I'm always bummed when we go to others that don't and then I don't get to drink anything I actually like. They had a house drink menu with some of their own drinks that I tried which were very good! The workers were all very welcoming and all of them loved our animals that we brought to meet the public. As we were leaving the event my boyfriend who tagged along stated he hoped we book another event with them because he will definitely come again. read more

Love this new location! It's roomy, open, and very clean. Came here after brunch with some friends, and I was so surprised at how nice this was especially compared to what it was before the move. It was a nice day out, so the front and back was open, so if you were inside, you still feel like you are outdoors. The bar area is pretty big and they have a great beer selection. I had the cider and a sour beer (my fav), and both were tasty. They have lawn games and nice tables outside the front and back of the brewery. There are also some games inside too. I went here for the first time for a yoga event last Saturday. I loved it here! Friendly bartenders. We had a wheat beer that was light and perfect for fall. We also ordered the chicken quesadilla with tater tots, and the fried pickles. When the food is ready they will text you, and you pick it up at the window. Highly recommend the pickles! What a wonderful experience! We were greeted by the general manager while we were waiting for our drinks at the bar, and he took the time to explain all the details of ordering food and picking it up and went over their specials with us. We obtained a table very quickly and easily ordered our dinner. We had tatchos, pretzel sticks and each ordered a burger and added toppings for our preferences. The tatchos were my favorite part! Perfectly fried crispy and covered with the perfect amounts of sauce, bacon and cheese. I loved my burger to which I added an aioli, arugula and blue cheese. I'd love to visit again soon. We did see several families with small children and high chairs are provided. It's best for babies and young toddlers who don't mind the no-frills decor. My first thought is go for the beer NOT for the food. The menu is sparse but I thought that the beet burger sounded interesting. When I picked up my order, my beet burger was missing 3 of the 4 toppings. When I pointed it out to the kitchen associate, he plopped a lettuce leaf on top of it. I told him that the lettuce was not what I was missing. Another associate overheard us and gave me a paper dish with the avocado and jalapeños. Still missing the miso, I gave up and went back to our table with my now cold food. I am not a fan of having to order and pick up drinks and food. Hire more wait staff; there was a young lady who twice tried to clear our table when we were clearly not finished. I will say my husband enjoyed the beers he chose as well as his beef burger. The beer itself was good, but nothing extraordinary. We enjoyed a flight and an order of the pretzels. I was impressed with the pretzels and the cheese sauce was amazing. My boyfriend liked the mustard. I would go back again, but given we were visiting, I would likely explore other breweries before coming back. On a Sunday evening, they have trivia which is difficult seeing as we were excited to see football on the one tv they have and the trivia was so loud. We typically like trivia, but had no inkling that trivia was about to happen when we ordered. Overall, it was a cool, open, industrial space, great food, good beer, but can get noisy. Some of the best beer in the Buffalo area and maybe the tri state area with some of the friendliest people working behind the bar and behind the scenes. One of the bar tenders named Kyle who I know for a fact hasn't worked there for a while now was always full of energy and one of the most welcoming staff members I'd ever met in my entire life and always appeared to be a very open minded and extremely accepting person and the conversations he would start actually make me want to stay there longer. I would say Frank and all of its deliciousness is a close second, it's a fantastic American pale ale that anyone would be lucky to come across and try for themselves. The staff they have is as diverse as any local establishment you'll find in the Buffalo area and I appreciate that about them... I just found out about CBW the other day and its literally less than 3 blocks from my house. The location is huge for me as it's about the same distance from my house as my school. Its a really cool environment with a quality variety of craft beers. I had three different beers, The Whale, Whistling in The Dark and The People's Choice. All three were solid but the one thing happened that had never happened to me at bar. I ordered a beer and the keg died halfway through, at most places that's a free waiting drink until the keg gets replaced but I wasn't even offered the half-filled beer. This isn't really a big deal but just something that kind of stood out to me. My bill came out to about $20 for three beers which is pretty standard at any brewery. I see a lot of potential in CBW based on their location. I'd like to see them host some sort of weekly college night with drink specials since D'Youville College and the University if Buffalo medical schools are so close. I haven't had the opportunity to try the food yet but that's on my list. read more
