The beer menu is quite diverse with multiple offerings in each category. The beer was very good and well brewed. There were three bartenders working and we received excellent service. We were able to taste a small sample of the beer before ordering a full pint. I loved The Half Slice Orange Vanilla, which tasted like a creamsicle. My husband's favorite was the I Remember, Buffalo. I'm a big fan of the vibe at Rusty Nickel. I miss sitting in their beer garden on a nice summer night. My company hosts our annual fantasy football draft here. The staff is super accommodating. They're currently offering an extensive menu of crowlers for folks who need local craft beer, wine, liquor, mixed drinks and even Bloody Mary's during quarantine. I picked up Horn's Up - which was disappointing, kind of a tasteless Belgian beer. But I LOVE the Taste O'Havens which is like a beer creamsicle. I've always been a big fan of that one. And the Choco Haze which is a porter. Both amazing. I placed my order over the phone and was able to pickup in 20 minutes. Bless you Rusty Nickel. I've been here several times and have enjoyed each time. This is a very small boutique brewery, so spending time here always feels very intimate and homey. There is a nice selection of beer and wine, and for cider drinkers like myself there are usually 2-3 options which is a refreshing surprise from some breweries. There is a huge outdoor space with a covered patio which is great for outdoor drinks all year long thanks to the heaters in the roof. The downside is always parking as the lot is not huge. That idea brought me to Rusty Nickel Brewery, which lies right behind the Ebenezer Ale House in West Seneca. As you can see from the picture, they offer a variety of options of beer. The woman behind the bar allowed me to sample a few of the brews before making my final decision on the Gingerbread Stout. It cost me just under $24 to fill that bad boy, which is more than I would normally spend but I felt good splurging on a high quality beer that a local business produces. I was also thanked by whom I assume is the owner for the purchase. Once COVID numbers ease up, I highly recommend taking advantage of their space. I had: Slice o' Havens (with orange peel but not overly fruity), oatmeal cookie ale (yes you need this in your life), peated Scotch ale (not too peaty, don't worry), and chocolate milk money (one of the many stouts). I sampled several others. The beer is a solid 4.5. Just wish they told me two of my selections were on nitro! :( The issue is food. Basic munchies are very basic. Tots, fingers, pizza, nothing is good, it's just there. Even though a brewery deserves to be judged on its beer, I'm rounding down because if you choose to offer food, you gotta make it good. Supposed to be in Dominican Republic on the beach at Hard Rock...and I kept my week off! So new plan to enjoy vacay?! Sunday Brunch from Rusty Nickel! I wouldn't normally splurge on a 32 oz of Bloody Mary for $20 because I'm be only one drinking it but ya know what? I'm on vacation! So I also got a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich for $4. Cost was $26 ish before my 20% tip. I ordered ahead and had to wait for my sandwich to be made, but what else do I have to do? I opted for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It came on some good bread I would guess Al Cohen white, but not sure. Bacon was cooked nicely, but I didn't expect the fried eggs. Yep there were two. I would have preferred scrambled, but don't know if that was an option. The Bloody Mary came in a 32 oz van with two skewers of goodies. When I got home I rimmed my glass with some celery salt and assembled my garnish aka unwrapped the Slim Jim and added it to the premade skewer. The Bloody is tasty, but I think there is maybe beer in it. It's subtle, but I am a non beer drinker. I know I got it from a brewery but maybe mention that. Anyhow, it was a nice treat! read more
