Honestly I'm only a fan of the coin counter (free to account holders). I prefer to do the least amount of interacting with workers because most banks push products on the customers... no thank you! Tellers seem friendly and drive thru is ok as well. I literally do everything online - transfers and deposit check. I don't have any plastics; unfortunately it seems like they have a known issue with the ATM machine. So I mainly use the credit union for "out of sight, out of mind" moments with my extra funds. Pretty much just "meh" status for me. Doesn't make we want to switch from a big bank to come here solely. Please note - there's also an app available which works pretty good. read more

Community Choice Credit Union Protected Me ! I recently made three small purchases in quick succession from China, all under $4. A few minutes later I made a $23 purchase, also from China. That purchase did not go through. I was confused until I got a call from Community Choice Credit Union's Fraud Detection Department a moment later. They were concerned that someone was making fraudulent charges on my account. They said that thieves will make a few small purchases to see if the account works for them. Then they make progressively larger purchases. My card activity matched that scenario, so they held up the last purchase and called me immediately to verify that I actually made these purchases. I was so impressed at how quickly they acted to protect me. You've had my back for nearly 40 years. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. read more

I have been a member of Community Choice CU since it was Research Federal CU - I've had my account since 1995. They've always been fairly easy to deal with, save for a few issues here and there. My main reason for completing this review is the super-tight fraud protection they have which saved me from tons of fraudulent charges. Very respectable and pleasant! read more

We have banked with this credit union for many years. This one on Five Mile was not our base. We visited this branch to deposit the check from the sale of our house. We were treated rudely and told we couldn't have any money and the check would be held for 7 days. Since it was the 4th of July weekend that turned into 9 days! We had no place to live since we just sold our home and so had to borrow money from our realtor to stay in a hotel. The bank did allow us to get a cashier's check to send our deposit to our new place in San Diego where we were moving. While on the road they suspended our cards and tagged them for a fraud alert. I had to call them quite a few times to get money for gas etc. Once we were in our new place and were opening a new bank account, they wouldn't allow us to transfer money out to the new bank. We had to have the bank teller call them and explain what we were doing. They kept adding charges to our account that would put us in the negative and then charge the $30 fee. Everytime we deposited the amount to get above the negative amount, some other charge would appear to knock us back down! Finally I closed the checking account for good. This has been a horrible banking experience all the way around! read more

ALWAYS a long wait. I have never gone to this location and didn't have to wait. They always have multiple tellers or staff members behind the desks but only 1 or 2 are actually helping customers. I could understand once or twice but literally every time I have ever gone here I get poor service. I will not be returning to this location and will also be contemplating closing my account with Community Choice. So sad because I've been with them almost 10 years and over the years they have been disappointing. read more

I love my Credit Union! They have put safeguards in place to help protect their members and employees during this pandemic. They provide great service both in person and online. They are my primary financial institution! If I need a loan, I'm approved and closed within the same day! Highly recommended! read more

THE PEOPLE MAY BE NICE BUT FRANKLY THATS THEIR JOB ANYWAY.. their rates are barly competetive, and forget geting cooperation from any one over the phone as they stricktly use call centers. If you just want to stick your money some where and forget it, this might be your bank. However if you actualy use your money or require services of any kind in under two bussiness days this C.U. will be nothing but total frustration for you... read more

The Redford staff was extremely helpful when I had some questions about my account and general financial questions. I was so thankful they were able to help me during this stressful time through the pandemic. Not only are they now opened back up, but they were able to assist me with some questions I had regarding my direct deposit. I highly recommend visiting this branch! read more

To be fair, I am rating this credit union based off of my experience with my checking account that I hold with a credit union back in Pennsylvania. I am now in Michigan. Ever since being introduced to credit union world, I have said I will always bank with a credit union first. With that said, Community Choice Credit Union is the worst credit union I've ever dealt with. Their rates are nothing to look twice at, and their customer service has never been good. They closed my account based on an inquiry I had made about how one would go about closing it if need be. I did not give my written request or consent for this to be done. Very unhappy with the lack of communication here, and for as long as I held the account. About the only thing that worked well was mobile deposit. I've never seen a credit union offer less "good account" features than a "big bank". I'm switching to Huntington Bank which does have higher fees for NSF and overdrafts, but they also offer more ATM/Branch locations for convenience, and offer 24-Hour grace for overdrafts. I would not recommend Community Choice Credit Union to anyone. read more

I have to agree with another reviewer about the lack of service. I've been a members since 1988 (Research Federal Credit Union). Call center is completely useless. Writing emails is also pointless. The only way I have found to get anything beyond ATM type transactions in a timely fashion is to drive to the Farmington hills central office and force a live person to pay attention to me. Today, the girl at the call center could not even tell me what the steps they need me to go through when selling a car for which they hold a loan. Really??? This place is hiding more and more behind technology (call center, web-based queries) instead of using technology to expedite servicing their members. Seriously contemplating moving. read more

Been to this branch 4 times in the last 2 months. Not once in four times has the atm been working

With all the take overs they've been doing they're just not the same anymore. There is no longer any privacy at the Livonia office ever since they remodeled. They have a ridiculous sign in now verses a line. It's horrible and I used to really like them. read more

Being only 18 and opening my first checking account I wanted somewhere that didn't charge monthly fees and that's really the only thing I need at this point. My only issue is the ATM inside the CU never takes my checks or money when I'm trying to make a deposit so then I have to get in the long line inside or go to the drive thru. That's my only complaint, but the people are always courteous and polite. I love this CU! read more

Awful customer service. Stopped at this branch to go through the drive thru to withdrawal money from my checking account. At maximum I go to the drive thru about 2 or 3 times a year. After a few minutes the lady at the window returned to tell me I didn't have enough money in my account to cover the withdrawal. I was shocked as I know that I have money in my checking account. I then asked if I could get a printout of my recent transactions, she proceeded to tell me that for a two dollar charge she could provide that. A couple of problems with this visit. One was instead of telling me that I had funds available in my CHECKING (which was my intent on the withdrawal slip) account and that my SAVINGS did not have the funds (I had written 00 opposed to the 03 for account ending on the slip) and having my drivers license in their possession with the withdrawal slip they brushed me off and sent me into a panic assuming my account had been accessed in a fraudulent activity. The second issue is I have been at with this financial institution for over 25+ years. Is this how people avoid customer service these days? I am disgusted. Came home to check my account the checking account has the funds...... maybe that confirms the reason I do not maintain a savings account or any loans with this institution. Shameful. read more
