My mower served me well for 20 years or so, but it has some serious issues now. I brought it in here to see if they could fix it for substantially less than a new mower, whether it would be worth it. Service was super good from a couple of people, and not just for me: I watched them interact with other customers. They looked at my mower, told me a couple of issues that definitely needed fixed, and said there was a $20 fee to inspect it for other issues. No hard sell. Upfront, honest, helpful. And local. Handy in the heart of Columbus. I'll have to think about whether to have it repaired, or get a new one. But it was nice to have expert, friendly advice. read more

Como is awesome!! I think that customer service has been dying prior to COVID and it officially died with COVID. NOT at COMO's!!!!!! What a wonderful experience. I borrowed a friend's pressure washer and I thought that it stopped working. When I brought it into COMOs, they did some simple pre-diagnostics and learned that I just didn't know how to use it. They started it up and it ran perfectly. They would not even charge the typical $20 diagnostic fee. I will never take a small engine repair anywhere else, COMO is AWESOME!!! read more

Como Mower is a long time business in the Clintonville neighborhood whose customers include both home owners and professional landscaping services. They sell and repair lawn mowers, snow blowers, generators, edgers and the likes. I have had my lawn mower serviced here for over a decade. I can say from experience, they have always been professional and courteous in my dealings with them. They offer helpful advice and will assist in unloading/loading your equipment, if need be. My lawn mower is old, but runs like new because of annual, or every other year, tune up. Tune up now runs about $80 (I can remember when it was about $50) which includes sharpening blades, new spark plug & filter, exterior cleaning, oil change and a some gas. Another service they provide is pick-up and delivery during the winter months. The way it is suppose to work is when you call them they take your name & number so they can call you back the day before pickup. I have waited for one to two months for that to happen. Last time when I made a follow-up call regarding pickup, the guy says to me "we have THOUSANDS" of pickups to make and those living closer to the business are the last to be picked up. (If you live within a mile of the business pickup was at no charge) Needless to say, I gave up on the pickup service and just brought it in myself. Como mowers can get crazy busy in the spring and summer months making turn around time longer than you may want. It is best to bring your equipment in during the winter months. Your service will be quicker. read more

My mower had a loss of power and I didnt want to throw parts at and still not work. Well apparently Como is will to do something like this... took it in and they said two weeks. Fine. Just want to run. Well after 2 weeks they didn't even address the issue of the engine to even find out what was going on with the engine. But the wanted some plastic parts replaced and a side shoot welded before they addressed the engine. So.... what if the engine was not able to be fixed? Your stuck with parts and a weld job for nothing. They even said it might not run as it did. But they didn't even look. Find someone that dose mowers and order your own plastic parts online. Do not recomend them at all. read more

After shredding my old one when running over it, I needed a new air filter cover for my lawnmower and they were able to provide a salvaged used one at almost no cost. Then several days later the breather tube on my trimmer came out and one of their counter people patiently reattached it at NO CHARGE! He was also extremely helpful replacing the string spool cover and showed me how to set it up correctly to "bump out" new string. I was very pleased with all of this great customer service. Also, they have a great selection of new mowers at prices that are seem competitive to the big box retailers. I'll definitely be using them again for service and repairs and will likely shop there for my next mower. read more

I bought a brand newhusqvarna chainsaw, and for a combination of reasons, didn't need it for three years. The first couple times I tried to start it, it wouldn't start without starting fluid. Brand new fuel/ oil mix. Once warmed up, it ran great and and restarted easily. Sounds to me like it needed a carburetor or choke adjustment. My wife took it to como because they've always been reliable and honest with me. After 2 weeks they charged her over $100 to rebuild the carburator, and told her not to keep old fuel in the saw. That's almost as much as I paid for the saw. 3 stars for descent turn around. Just not as honest as they used to be. read more

I took my machine in, loaded it in the car, got everything set up inside -name address etc. They wheel my machine back to the mechanic who "barks" "they can't work on that" and take it somewhere i'd never heard of. Guess they have a good reputation but I won't be back! read more

I took my chainsaw in. The tech could have easily taken advantage of the fact that I didn't know how to service a chainsaw, told me to come back in a few days and charged me $50-$75, but the tech saw the problem was an easy fix and fixed it on the spot. (Missing nut, realign chain bar and secure. Oil). The tech charged me less than $2 for the nut and sent me on my way with a complimentary guide on how to maintain my chainsaw. I hadn't been to Como for years, but left with the same impression I've always had. These guys (and gals) are people with integrity and they know their trade well. read more

I recently took my lawnmower as it was making a loud noise. Rachel was fantastic to work with. There was no pressure sale, instead of telling me all the repairs needed, it was just the opposite, they diagnosed the issue and offered options. They follow strict Covid19 precautions and even helped me unload and load my lawnmover back in my car. Now that is service. I know what you're thinking: "A lawn mowing store that doubles as an art gallery? How tired are you exactly, Sara?" but I swear that this is totally true, although not in the way that you would expect. Como mower has a resident artist. This resident artist uses a chainsaw and makes big totem-like wooden sculptures out of old tree trunks. These are some of the most personality-filled sculptures i've seen in a long long while. Como is a very small store, but if you take the time to stop and go in it has traditional charm and a mini-museum. Apart from the incredible chainsaw sculptures (which are for sale) there is a collection of antique chainsaws up in the store. The artist is Jerry Devine and I highly suggest checking his work out. Many of the completed and in process works sit outside the store and leer at the passing cars. They are a delight to behold. I should also mention that they're a lawn mower/chain saw/etc store that has an incredible sense of ethics when it comes to safety procedures. read more

I needed to have my snow blower checked out when it would start during the last snow storm. They were nice enough to pick it and, repair it, and return it to me in perfect working order. In addition, they took the time to educate me on what to do to avoid the same problem in the future and how to do the correct procedure when the season is over when I am ready to store it for the year till next winter. They called me on the phone before doing any work to explain what they found and gave me the price. I really appreciated their service and promptness. Don't go to como mower!!! Would have gave them no stars if possible. They overcharge, and do not honor warranties. The help there will deliberately tell u ways to destroy your equipment without you knowing. Then hey you have to come back to get it fixed. I compare them to the shadiest of used car dealers. I bought a mower from them last Spring...bottom of the line Toro. I used it maybe 6 times and then hit a stump, freezing up the blade and pull rope. I got the blade unstuck but not the rope. One thing lead to another and I never got it in for repair but hired someone to mow the lawn. It sat outside uncovered all winter, in the rain, snow, whatever and I thought it was done for. No garage, shed or easy way into the basement. A neighbor looked it over last week, made no repairs or anything, pulled the rope and it started!
