I love this store! I used to go when I was a kid, then I moved and came back and resumed my patronage. Mary, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgeable about music. The staff is welcoming and always happy to talk about some tunes. They do new record listening parties and events throughout the year; I checked out the one they did for Green Day's new album and that was a lot of fun. Prices are fair (or at least standard for nowadays), and they have a large selection of both vinyl records and CDs. Highly recommended. read more

Visiting from AZ and I came across this store and was able to make it down there one day and the owners and staff are just amazing knowledgeable sweet people.. their selection was fabulous! of course, found some unusual rarities on CD and vinyl and they shipped for much less than expected...Made new friends! I still comfort myself with the notion that when "the cloud" implodes and everyone who has wasted hundreds... no thousands... leasing their music through Pandora, Spotify and iTunes freaks out, I'll still have my considerable collection of physical music to provide a personal soundtrack during the Zombie Apocalypse. Parenthetically, I still retain my 2,000+ vinyl collection that has become the ironic envy of every ski cap wearing Gen-Zer who just plunked down $400 on a new turntable. Who's laughing now Jayden?? With Amazon already showing signs of curtailing new CD inventory, luckily I have most of what I want or need, and with stores like Compact Disc Center in Bethlehem, PA and my hometown Princeton Record Exchange filling in the gaps, any concerns about ongoing supply is a fleeting thought better left to the distant future. Because at the end of the day, you can't dance to zeroes and ones. Zombies or not, I'm ready. read more

Fantastic small record store friendly staff fantastic stock lots of new and used items reasonable prices love this place the only thing I don't like is that they remove the cds from the packaging to store them behind the counter I guess so people don't steal bit annoying to buy a new cd that has been removed from packaging hence the four star rating would be five star if not for that read more

Stopped by for the 1st time last weekend, friends have talked up the place for years, fun selection, definitely found some gems on vinyl and the pricing was great! The main reason we stopped here was we were looking for DVD's. Yes, they do carry a semi-limited selection of new and used DVD & Blu-Ray. Prices were decent for used DVD's. While we were not looking for music, this seems to be the place to come. They had a HUGE selection of CD's/Vinyl's to choose from, which takes up most of the store. Service was spectacular and we had a great and extremely nerdy convention with the person running the register. It's worth a stop if you're in the area. I came in with 4 cd's to trade in on a Friday night at 5:30 pm and the woman claimed she was too busy to take my trade in. there was one other person in the store. IF that was case i was too busy to give them my money. What a dump. Could care less for customers. read more

I'm visiting Allentown from Las Vegas. I checked out every record store in town and was very pleased. I would've been happy with Compact Disc Center if not for one rude associate. After looking through some tubs under the "new arrivals" boxes, I saw a blue tub full of records where understock would usually go. I pulled out quite a few records out of the tub- Caravan, Frank Zappa, REM, Yes, etc. Nothing was priced so I brought the pile up to the counter to ask an associate how much they would be. A lady standing behind the counter immediately got upset when I walked close with the records- "Where did you get those?!? Give em' here so I can put those back- those aren't priced yet!" She said with a scowl. I didn't know what to say- everywhere I've ever been, stuff that isn't priced is behind the counter. I wasn't trying to get one over on her- I would've paid whatever for a few of them. If it were me (I work at a record store), I would have priced them on the spot. I would've bought much more but only ended up buying two $15 dollar records. I'll stick with Play It Again and Double Decker read more

I travel a lot for work, and my territory covers about 1/3 of PA. When I get gaps in my schedule look for places that sell vinyl. Compact Disc Center has set my new standard. They had a nice selection of CDs, DVDs, and such also, but I was focused on records. Their selection was very nicely organized, and covered more genres than I expect to see. It took me 90 minutes to sort through their inventory, and I noticed more bins I had missed on my way out. Also, most of what I found were the albums from big artists other stores don't make room to offer. This selection had a lot of what I was missing from my current collection. This is the kind of neighborhood store with great service and prices that you just can't find any more. On my way out I found a limited edition gem I couldn't pass up. It was a newer release, sealed 3 vinyl set so it was a bit pricey. I wanted to support a local business so didn't question it, but couldn't help checking later what it went for on Amazon. There was only one copy available and it was $5 more not counting shipping. I have never used yelp before, but I signed up soon after getting home just for this review. If you are local and haven't been here, it is a must! read more

the sole reason for this one-star review is because I had been calling this place literally for WEEKS about selling my DVD collection. this business claims to buy used CDs and DVDs, but EVERY single time I called they kept telling me they weren't buying them on that day, always telling me to call back another time. The woman who always answered the phone sounds like she has some attitude or snarkyness about her, and it left a bad taste in my mouth every time she answered the phone. what's moral of this story/rant? I called Play It Again Records and they were very happy and helpful to see me immediately and help my liquidate my DVD collection for cash. so if you're looking to sell used DVDs or CDs around the Bethlehem area, don't bother going to Compact Disc Center because obviously they are for too busy and important to deal with you, a potential customer. if this is typical of how they deal with customers over they phone, I have no idea how they have been in business after all these years. oh well. read more

Okay, let me just get this out of the way right in the beginning I LOVE THIS PLACE. Before I moved to the city beautiful I probably spent somewhere between 40-60% of my income in this wonderful establishment. They have everything whether you're looking for something awesome and obscure like Captain beef heart or you just can't resist the latest piece of shit coming out of Nelly's mouth you'll find it here, and you'll be able to listen to it before you take it home. Yep, listen to it and not just an eight second sample like on I-tunes, the whole album so get out of your rooms young computer nerds and start interacting. I guess in an effort to cut down on shop lifting they don't keep any cd's in the cases (Sorry juvenile delinquents) so you just take the case to the counter and ask to listen to it, nice. The best part of this place is probably the employees who seem to genuinely love music and be having fun when they are helping you. If you're ever by Liberty high school in Bethlehem check it out. read more
