In the short space of time we have been visiting The Animal Clinic everyone has been welcoming, understanding, friendly and knowledgeable. Sadly, we lost our first puppy very early after he was hit be a car, The Animal Clinic we so thoughtful, caring and kind to us. I remember saying to my husband, I'm so glad we found this vets as they have been great with us. Happily, we recently rehomed a puppy and again the staff have been brilliant. I cannot praise them enough. Initially, I chose The Animal Clinic because of practical things ie free car parking, easy access and clean, modern building, but since visiting them they have surpassed all expectations. Thank you to all the staff and keep up the great work you all do!

Avoid these "specialists" for your pet's health…read more Hided the diagnosis from me and didn't warn that 5 month caucasian shepherd pup likely had elbow dysplasia however wrote about it in Pet History. Smiled and ensured that my lameness puppy is absolutely healthy and she is growing. Didn't give any basic recommendations about diets. Nothing. Only prescribed pain killers. I asked to refer me to physio or hydrotherapy. I was rejected. After 5 months accidentally found in health history notes about Elbow dysplasia. Vets said that it was always working diagnosis but never told us. After all they said it was misunderstanding. When Vet discusses with owner that her dog has likely dysplasia, good Vets provides different options how to correctly manage it. Here it was ZERO recommendations. After showing my dog to vets in Royal Vet College, they found chronic otitis and dermatitis. I came 4 times to Blackheath Vet to show her ears and skin. One ear drops were prescribed and it didn't help. No further treatment went after even I came after and came precisely for checking skin and ear. They said all look good, it's just humid and hormones. I lost 10 months for my puppy believing that she had proper treatment with lameness. they didn't want me to refer to CT scan, I insisted. After check I knew, my caucasian shepherd had 2 elbow dysplasia, hips dysplasia, artritis, chronic otitis and chronic dermatitis. Thank you for VIP service for my dog. There is a bench in hell's waiting for you guys.

Big corporation vet. Do yourself a favour and choose an independent vet that actually cares about…read moreanimals. Managers of the practise on holiday all the time. (Literally more on holiday than working) No wonder the place is falling apart. Staff changing all the time and therefore constant shortage of staff, and doctors missing pets illnesses. No real compassion just a fake one so they can get your money. They don't care about pets. Pets are just a number to them. Been with them for far too many years and wonder why I stayed with them for so long.

I had my Whippet spayed there about three years ago.The operation itself was disastrous as she…read morecontinued to bleed from the wound for two days.I had to go to Emergency care at a weekend/night clinic and after care/tests at the Barrier clinic and none of it was covered by my insurance as they don't cover cost and after effects of spaying.Whilst they obviously made the mistake they tried to put the ball in my court, saying she is a whippet they bleed more after ops(total nonsense), she might have this or that ( affecting blood clotting)which all did not turn out to be the case( i had to pay for the testing of course)Now almost three years later, my Whippet showed symptoms of being in heat again.I had her checked and operated on by my present (incredible good vet) and they found a huge lump of Uterus ( as big as a uterus itself) plus other things that should have been removed with the spay.Grossly disappointed in Barrier Vets and of course the worry for my dog and the unnecessary thousand pounds spend to fix the problems they created with a routine op.I would strongly recommend to take your pet somewhere else.

They have a very good and extensive range of dog and cat foods to cater for even the fussiest of eaters. Their own brand cat and dog foods are very good value and are of good quality. They sell an amazing range of pets beds, toys and extras such as brushes, shampoos, flea treatments, vitamins - you name it and Pets at Home sell it! You normally end up buying something you did not realise you needed! My dog when I take him there heads for the section with the dog treats - I think he wishes he could be a taste tester for them! They do sell some live animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, mice etc which I don't really like but on the whole they seem to keep them in reasonably good conditions. The trouble is they do not vet the people who buy them.
