Can I score a zero? Let's see. I have a solar water heater on my roof. A month ago, the system froze and the pipes cracked and the whole thing was rendered unusable. Ok... It was kind of my fault, and I'll take a bit of responsibility for the issues - to a certain extent. My problem is... I didn't design this system. The recirculate function, and freeze plug systems weren't my ideas. I'm sure that the draining of the system would have been better attempts at keeping the system from causing issues, but I was led to believe that these systems were sufficient. My system froze and as a result the pipes froze and burst and there was a complete system failure. The good news was that I was under warranty. The bad news was that Compass Solar and the company that was "warrantying" my system had no problem gouging me. The estimated price to replace my system was over 1300 bucks. I decided to go NOT green to replace the system. I'm 60. I'm going to die before I can make the difference. Good luck young people. Greed takes precedence in today's market. I can not recommend this company at all as they did not install correctly ,Not to be found for 6 years 2 leak problems one of which I paid for as it was hidden and disclosed. The problem came to light after the service manager of 6 years and the other employee saw it was not installed correctly and had no sealant. Naturally 1 owner agreed they needed to fix the approx 23k damage on our house. I paid them 30k plus for the privilege of this frustration which looks like is going the legal route. Bottom line the first rate service manager has quit as he can not stomach the fraudulent actions of this company . So my system has been down for closing in on 2 months DOING NOTHING. Last year Compass solar was selected by my roofing contractor to remove and reinstall so that I could get a new roof, $10,000. When they left I was told to give it a couple of days so everything could come on line. A few days later I noticed that two of my panels were not producing anything. I am told by Solar Edge that this also brings down productivity of all the panels in that group. I called Compass and they said they would do some on line testing and get back with me. No one came out to check anything. A few days later they called and said that two parts had to be ordered and replaced. After a couple of weeks they came out to install the new parts. The tech got on the roof and looked at the panels and said here is the problem, the two panels were not plugged in. He plugged them in and they began working. If they would have come out the first day they would have found there mistake and I would not have been withoug working panels for almost three weeks. I would have expected to at least receive an apology call but I never heard anything from them. Last month my solar water heater stopped working so I called for repair. The tech was not here for more than 15 minutes and did nothing except listen to me about what the symptoms were and said that the actuator was bad. He would have to order it and come back to install. The initial call was billed at $270.00 and was not in my name but someone I have never heard of. I never received a ticket from the tech like I was told should happen. I never received an email bill because they had my email address wrong. When I called about the bill I was told that it would cost another $270 to replace the part plus the cost of the part which retails for about $230. So, $770 to install a clip on part and connect two wire nut connected wires. Is this a fair business transaction and good cutomer service? You decide. read more

After a thorough review of solar energy companies, we selected Compass Solar of Pensacola, FL to install an 9.72kW DC solar panel system on our home in Lynn haven, FL We were very impressed with all aspects of the project and the people at Compass Solar The sales person (Terry LOGAN) was very professional, very knowledgeable about solar systems and the products his company was providing. He honosty about savings, products available and other costs (ie home insurance premiums) that should be considered was very satisfying and was important in evaluating whether or not to install a solar system. The solar equipment quoted was the best available (REC panels, Enphase IQ7 inverters). The office staff at Compass Solar (Stacey LEHEY, Alicia PLUMB) were also outstanding. The information they provided was accurate, timely, very well written and really helped the customer understand the process and progress. The site inspection and installation crews were professional, efficient, well trained and polite. The always provided us of their arrival, departure and left to job site clean. Compass Solar's selection of sub-contractors was also impressive. The structural design firm (Dean A Spencer, Engineering) completed a thorough and timely design and the electrical sub-contractor's work (Sandcastle Electrical) was also outstanding. No problems were encountered with the governing authorities' inspections. It is too early to provide a complete review of the system's performance but after a week in service we are producing more electricity that the performance guarantee. Well, I bought a Solar Package from Compass Solar in Pensacola, FL. I asked them if they offered product in Baldwin County, AL; to which I was told yes. What I was not told was that Baldwin County EMC requires and 1,000,000 Personal Liability Policy, which indemnifies them. Now that I cant find an insurer that will do this, I am left with a 22,000 roof ornament and told that I cant return to product and get a refund. While the installation was ok, they needed to have had the knowledge of requirements with differing utilities. Look elsewhere read more

Compass was selected by my roofing contractor to remove and replace my panels so that I could get a new roof. When the job was finished two of my panels did not work. I called them and rather than coming out to check them they contacted solar edge to see if they could fix the problem over the internet. They advised that two optimizers were not working and they would send two new ones under warrant. Compass advised me that I would have to pay labor costs to replace them. I did not see how this was fair since the panels were working fine before Compass got involved. I had to wait three weeks for them to come back out and went without two working panels. This cost me about ten per cent production since the non working panels cause others to work less. When they finally came out it was discovered that the two panels were not plugged in to the optimizers and that is why they were not working. They were plugged in and now work fine. I have not heard back from Compass offering any apology or compensation for their stupid error. The work they did was satisfactory otherwise or I would give one star. My review is based on poor customer service and their obvious priority of making money over customers needs. read more

Well I had solar installed in 2020 by Compass Solar. 41 panels with independent micro-inverters. I currently have a total of 11 inverters that are bad and was told that the system would be warrantied for 25 years. I called this company to come look, and they showed for about 15 minutes and said I need an A/C noise filter for $700 and it is non refundable if it doesn't work. No credit, no nothing, just spend $700 and hope works and if not we will throw some more money at it. I asked them to take a known good inverter and move it to a known bad inverter and was told "that is not how we troubleshoot." Was charged $200 for nothing, didn't even get ion the roof and they tried to feed me a line of bs. The inverters are all in different locations on a total of 41 panels. Also nobody has solar panels within 3 houses of my house in any direction. I will never call this company again and I will tell everyone to avoid using this solar company. Terrible! I will say that Regina the customer service representative was nice and felt bad about the situation but the company is terrible. read more

I erased my previous review of a 1, solely after meeting with Bryan Rickles. He was not our regular sales rep but after talking and meeting with him, I recommend Compass. I cannot give 5 stars because of my interaction with our original sales rep but Bryan improved my impression of Compass greatly. Luckily, my original sales rep moved to PCB so he's not servicing the Pensacola/Gulf Breeze area. Bryan was referred to me from a neighbor who had a great experience with him and Compass. Compass is a good company, especially compared to others, but make sure you ask for Bryan Rickles. read more

I have been waiting for the replacement of a panel that has been under reporting since last April (2022). I now have additional panels that are under reporting. I give a low star rating because of the failure of keeping me posted on the warranty claim that has supposedly be applied for. Nothing has been communicated at all. Great company, they analyzed our roof structure for solar and sold me no more solar than I needed to reduce my reliance on the grid. Doug did a super job consulting with us to get us in the right system. The installers, led by Dan, - Noah, Antonio, and Nick installed our 39 panels in one day.... The Techs, - Shane, Kerri and Jonathon did a super job wiring and configuring the system.. It works great and my electric bill is pretty much just the interconnect fee. Highest Recommendation... I had a solar PV system and a solar pool heater installed. My experience from the beginning of the process to completed installation was excellent. During the quote phase some of the other companies tried to gain advantage by trash talking their competitors. Compass focused on the product, options, service and price to win the business. It's a complicated process with many steps and many players who must be coordinated from permits, engineering design, installation, multiple inspections and of course the interactions with the power company. Compass managed each step flawlessly and kept me informed of where we were in the process weekly. Each individual I worked with from quoting, scheduling, engineers were exceptional. One of the most impressive things was the professional and knowledgeable installation team. Many companies don't focus on their crews so you can end up with poor workmanship and mistakes. This installation team blew my socks off. They knew what they were doing, they executed the process expertly and were a pleasure to deal with. In summary, there were no "surprises", no additional charges after the quote, and the only change to the timeline was they actually were able to complete it a bit sooner than initially quoted. In September 2019, we had solar panels installed to offset the cost of electricity for two outdoor sheds. The installation was a smooth process. The installers were professional and were able to answer a lot of the questions. The sales agent was very personable and professional and did a great job selling us on the product. I wanted to see if there was going to be a decrease in the use of electricity before I submitted a review. We actually had a $80 decrease, which I was happy with. But I do have to remember that we are going into "winter" and that the actual savings will depend on sunshine. But at this time I will standby by 5 Star Rating. read more

We're do I start, they are pushy, don't lesson to what you want. Example you want a solar pool heater and just talk about seeing how to do the whole house. They give you a proposal without a pool heater and cover your entire house with panels after you told them you don't want to cover your roof with panels (99) because that's a little extreme and don't look good. One of the guys said "oh you won't even notice them after a while". No you are not lessening don't want to cover the entire roof and that's with out solar pool heater. We said we don't want the system after numerous phone calls, emails and wouldn't take no for a answer. Then they continued showing different proposals we didn't ask for because we had already said no. This went back and forth for over a period of 3 months. Then come back saying we owe them over 6000 for there hard work and time. These people stock and harass people even after you say you don't want there business for months. DO NOT USE this company. read more
