Not really friendly in the office part or on the phone when you call up to make an appointment. They also have signs in the parking lot stating to call them first when you get here. Which l did and when l called she didn't know what l was talking about. Well take the twenty signs done in your parking lot then . When l walked in l received no Hello or Hi ..... just a look over and told me to wait. Plus l was charged a deposit on my first time calling in for an appointment. Then when l payed the bill they never took the fee off Had to wait till the following week to get a refund on my bill. I think the office crew needs a lesson on customer service with a smile. Seasoned dog parent here, with an eight week old Boston Terrier. Cali had her first appt. at CC Vet and I was very happy with the visit. The staff were friendly, kind and knowledgeable (and honest about not knowing the answers to some questions). The doctor was fantastic! Personable and knowledgeable ... and took the time to get to know us, our new puppy, and spent (a lot) time with us so that we could get to know him. He explained everything to us, answered my questions, and was telling us about his volunteer work in the Ukraine helping the animals in the war torn country. Very honorable of him. I am a CNA that visits a home bound woman who is 90 and legally blind. She called me up this morning, frantic that her 18 yr old cat was "bleeding" all over. I raced to her home, it wasn't blood, it was urine and watery diarrhea. I had been helping her contact vets and shelters in the area to have this fur-baby put down, as she was visibly unwell. They quoted me $50 for the euthanasia and $50 for a mass cremation. So I had $120 of my own money on me. But that facility only takes a drop off, you can't stay with your pet during the process (Newington HS / Fox Mem Clinic). So today, in a panic I called Compassionate Care as they were the closest. They saw her, asked a lot of questions and put her down. Then handed this elderly, handicapped grieving woman a bill for $358! I told them she has no money and I only had $120. They were not compassionate. I took my client to the car and went back and paid with my credit card. The bill was sickening. $150 additional dollars for 'emergency visit'.... read more

BEWARE! NEW OWNER IS AWFUL!!! I was very happy with Dr.P but after the recent ownership change I would not recommend anyone to this office. They had me hold my dog while they took a sample from a small mass on his chest. The vet tech just stood there while I had to be the bad guy and hold my dog. The test results came back that everything was fine yet the office told me my dog needed surgery immediately to remove the mass. (It's was very tiny mass that ended up going away on its own!) When I said I couldn't afford the surgery right now tried making me feel guilty and said I could open a credit card. They also told me that my dog was allergic is chicken and had him on a RX dog food of rabbit. When he got into something and was sick I brought him in and was told to put him on a chicken and rice diet until he was feeling better. When I went to cancel my wellness plan I received a threatening voicemail that they will be taking me to small claims court. read more

Wasn't happy with previous vet/owner so I took my dog to another veterinarian in Middletown. Compassionate Care, in Berlin, is very close to my home so I switched back when I heard new Veterinarian took it over. We have been going there for several years now. I have been very happy with Dr Keech and his staff. They lovingly take good care of my dog. My brother and niece also changed to Compassionate Care for their dog. I would highly recommend Compassionate Care. read more

They are the worse vet around the staff is rude and obnoxious. They would never let you speak to the vet unless you paid for a consultation.I would not recommend them to anyone they are horrible. read more

1.0 star rating8/31/2022 (((beware the butcher of berlin))) i am sharing my story cause i feel as though it needs to be told. and my best friend for 11yrs can not speak for herself any longer. her name was sandy and she was a yorkshire terrier the most beautiful and sweetest dog you could have ever met. i was recommended to go to dr, keech from another veterinarian office whom worked for him cause my pet sandy needed to be spayed. i thought i was doing the right thing buying us more time to be together cause i was told that she was getting older and this needed to be done before the onset of plyometra which could lead to her death. dr, keech told me that it would cost me well over a thousand dollars but it was necessary to save her life so based on his advice i dropped her off on a wednesday morning and picked her up that afternoon. (7) days later she was dead due to a massive infection that turned to septic shock which lead to kidney failure and eventually her death. not once after the surgery did he schedule a post op check up to ensure that all was well with her and no blood work was done on her behalf which would have caught the infection at that time which could have been treatable and saved her life. i am not an expert when it comes to these things and when you spend so much money on your loved ones like we do you expect the best care that your money can buy. but sadly for me it was not enough for him to care for the follow up. i feel guilty that i had her surgery done and spent so much money only to have her killed by this butcher of a vet. he will take all he can get from you then your on your own. even when i called to speak with him i never got a return phone call and when i showed up at his clinic for her records he noticed me but never said hello or asked how she was doing as i had been there just a week prior to her dying. the service i received was very misleading staff included which ignored me so long as i had the money to spend i was acknowledged but when that ride came to an end i was left to grieve all on my own. she wasn`t just a pet she was like a daughter to me and a piece of my heart is forever gone as she was the light that lit my house up but is no longer there to greet me when i come home anymore. i am saddened beyond words and can only leave this msg to those who will take the time to read it. if you value your pets life do not go here this place has a bad vibe and no amount of money that i could ever get back from small claims court will bring my baby back. but if it can save your pet`s life then this msg will be worth my time. he is a butcher plain and simple do your research before going here if you value your pet`s life and if you do good luck!!!!!!! read more

I have been unhappy with the new vet that took over this practice and have been searching for a new vet. Because of covid a lot of vets are not taking new patients, so when my dog developed an ear infection, we unfortunately had no choice, but to see Dr. Keech. Upon arrival to the vet, our dog was happy and very willing to be examined. My son and I were led to an exam room and then were asked to move to a larger room with a lift as our dog is bigger. We explained over the phone and in the exam room that the dog again had an ear infection and we tried an OTC, but that didn't seem to work. Dr. Keech proceeded to exam our dog's teeth and must've hurt him and the dog growled. Dr. Keech forcefully pushed the dogs snout downward with his hand and then left the exam room for a loose muzzle. On his return he placed the muzzle over the dogs nose loosely. You could feel the tension from the dog rising in the room as he became fearful of the vet as he proceeded to examine his ear. He started to clean the ear and the dog was bucking up and down (which he has never done before) I was trying to calm the dog saying it's okay, it's alright - a phrase used for any person or animal when going through something painful - that things will be okay. At this time the dog was yelping and bucking and a staff member opened the door thinking a "woman was screaming", that is the sound our dog was making. My son and I were very concerned because this was highly unusual for our dog to act this way and the vet then says to me, "using the words, it's okay, is only reinforcing the dog's behavior". I told him I only needed him to treat my dog, not provide me with a lecture on how he should be trained. Needless to say, we left and told him we would never be back. The name of this hospital should not be Compassionate Care! My dog didn't receive that. read more

I had my very first visit today with my older black lab, who I was getting a second opinion for on some very serious allergy issues. We got an appointment very quickly, and were seen within a couple days. I had absolutely no wait, was taken right in. Appointment went smooth, quick, and efficient. They gave me meds to treat his immediate symptoms and make him comfortable while working with a new medicine to help him long-term. He is already happier and it's only been a few hours! On top of it, they were hundreds of dollars cheaper than our previous vet, which helps us our tremendously. I'm definitely planning to make this my buddy's new primary doctor! read more

Very professional family oriented staff. I have two very large dogs and feel very at ease taking them in for routine shots and check ups. In the event of an emergency the Dr. is very quick to call you back. read more

The name says it all, after two visits to another vet with no results and gig dollars went to compassionate care upon arrival vet felt my dogs agony ( scratching himself bald and raw ) with injections and instructions next two days back to normal. Highly recommend (Spunky) read more

We used to bring our dog to compassionate care on the Berlin Turnpike while the old owner had it. She was a terrific vet and really cared about her clients and their pets.. The new owner who has been there now for several months has turned the hospital into a corporate operating center. They really don't care about their clients. The vet is extremely difficult to get a hold of there is no longer any insurance there and he led us on for over four months before giving us an answer on insurance. He said the old vet ran the operation poorly and was losing money on the insurance so he was going to no longer carry it. One day in the beginning of January our dog was extremely sick, we got the runaround to bring her in and were told to leave her there and he would call us when he got to her. This was after four phone calls. I would not recommend anyone to bring their pet to this vet or his staff. You will be very disappointed in every way if he is there. Note they are closed on Sunday and Monday. We ended up at animal hospital of Berlin and they regained our trust in a fabulous caring Veterinarian Office. read more
