When Holly our 12-year-old miniature long-haired Dachshund developed a swelling in the right side of her snout, then lost interest in food or just about anything. We knew we needed to go see a vet quickly. Since moving to this area we did not have a vet and a neighbor recommended Canton Animal Hospital. I was so relieved when they said they could see Holly that afternoon. The Staff and the Doctor were excellent. They looked at Holly's condition and the state of her health then put her on antibiotics for the infection. We then came up with a plan to get her fully recovered. She has already started to be her old self due to the meds. The Staff and Dr. Goldman were very helpful and diligent in getting relief for Holly and Holly's whole family is very grateful for their help and support, we wish them as Happy a Thanksgiving as they have given us! Rude, thoughtless, classless and seems to think people are made of money. We brought our cat in who has been having issues. We have very little funds so money IS an issue. Most NORMAL vets would suggest running a senior profile on a pet (usually runs about $200 tops).....not these guys! They wanted to try and zap over $400 out of us to "run labs"....Really?,...even better, my husband heard the office staff talking about when I called in. They had the nerve to say that "oh yeah his wife was the one called about the cat and wanted to euthanize it!".....REALLY??? I WANTED to? No you daft bitches, that's what I want to AVOID unless necessary, she's OLD. Thanks for twisting my words making me sound evil when I love my pets like my own children! Avoid this place, they're freaking RUDE and the vet himself decided to give us crappy advice that made NO SENSE! "Move the littler box, don't scoop it out, just dump it and completely refill it a couple times a week"...What? Why? That doesnt even really make any sense! I had been a customer of Dr. Goldman at the Canton Animal Hospital for about nine months. During this time, I brought my dog to him about 2 - 3 times for a few different issues. Overall my experience was awful. First off, the prices are extremely high. After I changed vets, my new vet looked at some of the prices that he charged and was shocked. Do not expect this vet to give you any breaks on prices what so ever. He will charge you the absolute max for everything he does. Secondly, I found that dealing with Dr. Goldman was unbearable. He is rude, arrogant and demeaning. He talks to his clients like they are children. This was the ultimate reason I ended up changing vets. Dr. Goldman was just awful to deal with. Look for another vet. There are plenty of great ones in the area and you don't have to deal with the overpriced care or rude personality. Definitely would not recommend! read more

First, in the interest of full disclosure, I asked dr Goldman and his staff if I could write a review after reading the old negative reviews I read on this site.No one asked me to write this review. My wife and I have found a perfect fit for our female Bernese mountain dog with canton animal hospital. We were with another vet practice where vets were also excellent but the practice was extremely busy and the office staff worked hard to keep you from bothering the vets with what we felt were 3 legitimate emergencies. Instead, the staff suggested we try methods we would do ourselves and if that did not work then they would schedule an appointment. To us,that was totally unacceptable. Further, the last emergency situation resulted in our going to the emergency vet practice in Avon. They fixed the problem immediately and told us if we had tried to do what the other staff recommended we try , if done incorrectly by us,would have resulted in us asphyxiating our dog. As a result of that we called the canton animal hospital.The first time we met dr.Goldman, he immediately responded to our concern by giving us his cell phone number and encouraging us to call anytime the office was closed if we had any concerns about our dogs well being. Since then, two years plus ago, we have had 3 or 4 urgent concerns and called dr. Goldman. He either answered immediately or called us back within 15 minutes and either allayed our concerns or saw our dog quickly. For my wife and I ,neither of who has ever had a dog, this was exactly what we wanted. Finally, while I agree there are less expensive vet practices, I think canton animal hospital, for us , is reasonable in terms of price. read more

First time visitor to Canton Animal Hospital. The staff was wonderful and attentive both during the appointment set up, the confirmation and arrival. We were seen right on time. Dr. Goldman was great with my kitties. I appreciate that he didn't give any pressure for optional services. My kitties are indoor only so I try to keep the vet to a minimum for required immunizations and periodic well checks - Canton Animal Hospital respected that approach. The vet techs were very nice and they efficiently trimmed the kitties nails (extra charge but reasonable and well worth it). This vet visit as aggravation free as possible -- it's never fun to load two screaming cats into a carrier and that stresses me out. Dr. Goldman and his team helped minimize the pain. Brought our rescued dog here many many years ago. Only had her with us for one day and the Doc was rude and judgemental, said we should learn how to control our dog. In her defense, his little Boston Terrier kept walking by the exam room and was getting our dog really excited. Never have we felt that way at a vet's office. In the meantime, I know many people who say they have had similar experiences with Dr. Goldman. It's too bad. read more

If I could give a negative star I would. Dr. Goldman has an appropriate name since this "hospital" is primarily a business that over charges people for routine pet care under the guise of "treating your pets as if they are part of the family--like children". I brought my child's pet rabbit with a minor eye infection in for a visit. The doctor didn't look at my rabbit but an assistant (a technician) did. The technician gave my rabbit some eye drops. The total visit lasted less than five minutes. The bill was for $230. I told them to keep the rabbit after which they modified the amount owed. I strongly advise people to avoid this rip off operation. read more
