This camera store is great! I have been coming here for all of my needs, rentals.. Cameras.. Tripods! If there is something they can't help you with, they will direct you to a website or somewhere where you can find what you* need. I rented a lens just last week for a major conference in Austin Tx. I'm a bit cocky with equipment because I take really good care of things, especially if they aren't my own! I hate to let anyone down. This week I made the mistake of not wearing my camera strap while trying to hold my camera and didn't realize I hadn't locked my flash. The camera fell out of my hands and went crashing to the floor!! I was so scared they were going to make me pay for the $1,500 lens. I just made all of that money and was so upset that in a single mistake I was going to have to spend it. When I got back I told them what happened and decided to just take the hit and try to come back from it. They were super understanding and just happy with my honesty, and quoted me $700 for it to be fixed. I took a small hit compared to what I was expecting! These guys are fair and understanding, you just have to be a chill honest person. They aren't here to sugar coat your life but they will treat you with respect if you treat them with respect! read more

Really appreciate the service and support I get from the staff at Competitive Cameras. When I first rolled into the store I was researching equipment to add to my inventory. They could have very well sold me anything I asked for but instead they provided sound advice on the pros and cons of certain items. They have earned a lifetime customer with sheer honesty. Luckily, I found Competitive Cameras through a Google search, and was pleasantly surprised at the exceptional service there. It's a top-notch store with virtually all your camera needs and chock-full of very knowledgeable, focused and customer-centric staff that are willing to take time with you explaining options and features. Not every place does that. They have an impressive selection of photography equipment of various brands. But, Eugene was truly the deal-breaker. I came in twice to have a rep familiarize me with my Lumix SLR I had not used in a few years. I now urgently needed a brief remedial course in its use for an upcoming once-in-a- lifetime family safari trip to Africa. I talked with Eugene on both visits. He could not have been more helpful - or patient with me. He is used to dealing with camera experts, so I appreciated him explaining details so even I understood how to use certain features and get affects I needed. He showed me the way, then let me do it myself and watched to make sure I had the hang of it. Basically - Eugene is an awesome ambassador for Competitive Cameras. I decided to give this store another chance because they are the only camera store close to me. I cannot believe that I just went in there and had the manager confront me about my review. I am in there, with my kid on her birthday just trying to get a new camera battery and go and this man wants to try to start a confrontation about my review. I will now NEVER be going back there. That was by far one of the most uncomfortable situations to be in with him confronting me in front of all his employees. Especially after I'm clearly at his store again making a purchase and he wants to act like that. I will be finding out who his boss is and confronting them because that was just beyond ridiculous and unacceptable. Now, I just got home and checked yelp and the owner had the audacity to actually message me and try to confront me that way. He actually even made a comment about how he didn't even charge me for ATTEMPTING to fix my camera. Why would he even think to charge me for something he couldn't fix? Into further review of their Yelp page for this place, I noticed that all the bad reviews have been voted funny 20+ times. Just thought I'd give an update to my last review. I still think these guys don't have great customer service and use sleazy sale tactics to input fear of purchasing from other places. How convenient that their are no prices posted anywhere in the store, so they can just pull exorbitant prices out of their .... whenever they want. I've got a few items here... always felt like there is some high quality gear being repped. No cheap amazon bundles..know the difference. Buying online is really my way of life but having the feel of buying for someone knowledgeable is key. They got a renovation that really looks great. Lots of rentals which I had to use a lower end model because they didn't have my particular camera. The pricing on rental could improve. I am rent online for longer and the same price. Anyway that's not a big deal if you are doing this last resort. You should also give a discount or offer discounts on making a purchase for those renting gear. It doesn't matter if those are separate entities--the snarky responses are cringe worthy. Like make the up-sale regardless that this is one store. You've got to get people to buy gear while making money on rentals may be your true bread and butter. That has to be resource that you want people to demo gear and feel they may want to purchase this. Anyway you guys are still my favorite shop in DFW. I waited for several months looking for any online store that would have the 2022 release of the Nikon Z 800mm f6.3 lens and understood that there was a shortage and issue of supply and demand. no one had any information about availability and Amazon and eBay were selling for 10-20% over the normal price for used ones! I emailed competitive camera and Eugene got back to me in September last year and said that he'd put me on a wait list. sure enough few weeks ago he emailed that there was one waiting for me!! Their prices are aligned with what you will find from a large, online store. But even more importantly, the staff is always willing to take the time to answer any question you may have. For example, when purchasing my camera bag, I was unsure of the size I needed. I did not bring my equipment with me to the store. So the staff member pulled from their supply all the equipment I have & showed me how each piece would fit in each bag option. All this time for the sale of a bag! I pre-ordered my Nikon Z7 from Amazon within 1 minute of the link going live. However, on the day of release, I was told that my unit would not be shipped and that they had no estimate as to the delivery timeframe. Enter Eugene and Competitive Cameras: I saw a comment on Nikon Rumors that indicated Eugene still had Z7 kits in stock, and was able to overnight them to interested buyers. Disappointed in the service here. There were only two people working and they were rushing everyone and did not spend time answering questions, nor were they pleasant. I ended up going to Best Buy and surprisingly had all my questions answered plus some! The pricing here was the same, so not worth the trip to this remote location. Eugene is about as good as it gets if you are looking for the best prices, the fastest delivery, NO nickle-n-diming, and good sound quality care in getting you the gear you need, when you need it, for the best price possible. While I've never actually been in the store, I've been working remotely with Eugene and Competitive Cameras for years. He beats any price out there, will get you the gear you need yesterday and without excuse or question, and if you want something he doesn't have, he will find it for you--or, give you a quick honest answer as to why he can't. I do a lot of work in Texas, and have been hard pressed to find a GOOD attentive camera store/dealer. Camera Express in San Antonio is filled with dismissive attitude--and will never have my business again--not only do they over charge, but, you also pay for their millennial righteous mindset that the customer is not "king" so to speak. One of my clients recently had a negative interaction with CE, so I sent them to Eugene. The next day they had the gear they needed, for hundreds of dollars less than what CE was charging. These guys are amazing. I found out that FedEx lost my camera shipment from a national online vendor and at exactly 3:45 on Saturday afternoon after getting off a plane. I have never been to Dallas and have no local contacts like I do in other cities to help in a pinch. I quickly googled Camera Rental Dallas, TX and Competitive Cameras was in the top listing. The gentleman who answered the phone told me he would wait till 4:10 but after that he had to go. A quick Uber ride and we made it just in time. They had the gear I needed in the time I needed it, for the a fair price. The Nikon body and glass was clean and worked perfectly. They had light stands and tripods that all worked great.
