This shop and Matt, its proprietor, are a genuine treasure in our community. Unlike 90% of modern opticians, Matt is actually a skilled craftsman. He has twice REPAIRED plastic glasses frames that I damaged by sitting on them. (Yeah, twice ). But last week Matt truly exceeded himself! My old frames finally gave out and had to be replaced. Fortunately, my old progressive lenses were still in great shape. It would be simple for Matt to install them in new frames --as long as the new frames were same size as the old ones. But there was a problem! Those frames were now too wide for my face, because I lost some weight. I had my heart set on *smaller frames* Well, Matt courageously, skillfully and successfully accepted the challenge of downsizing my big old lenses to fit new, narrower frames! Is there any another optician in Dallas who would have taken this on? Matt truly pulled a rabbit out of a hat! And by going so he saved this ol' gal about $450. I am so grateful! To tell you the truth if Matt had been unable or unwilling to adapt my old lenses to fit narrower new frames, like he did, I probably would have bought too-wide new frames and soldiered on ‍. I saved a lot of money coming here. My last pair of glasses before coming here I purchased at Costco. They didn't honor their warranty and the glasses weren't near the quality frames I purchased now. The glasses purchased from Payrite were better quality, transitions with all the Bells and whistles and were over $200 cheaper than the ones from Costco without transition lens. The first time I went in here, I loved it. I was the only customer and I got a ton of attention from the owner, who, in addition to being very helpful while choosing a frame, chit chatted with me about various topics (including his religion) for quite a while. The second and third time I went in here was a completely different experience. In both of those cases, other customers came in AFTER me who, apparently (since the owner knew them all by name), were more frequent customers than myself and were sometimes also purchasing more items or more expensive items than I was. Each time a new customer walked in, the owner stopped assisting me, turned to whoever walked in, then assisted them till he had checked them out and they had walked out of the store. Only once he was completely done with each new customer, would he turn back to me, only to stop assisting me once again when someone new walked in. Very annoying experience. I waited more than 45 minutes to be assisted the second time. I will not be going back. read more

I came into Arman's business back in May because I was shopping around for new lenses. He offers the best prices compared to the bigger eyewear stores so I figured I'd give him a try! I loved how he kept it real with what lenses would be best for me instead of pushing the higher price lenses like other places tried to do. I went with the Hi Index lenses and he had them ready for me in an hour and all for $99! I was very satisfied when I left. A few weeks later I came back pretty unhappy because after buying the lenses overtime they started getting striations and having really bad glare. He asked if I'd left them in the car at all which I had while I run errands. Then he educated me on the lenses and that I can't treat them like I did my Polycarbonate ones (glass) because these hi index (plastic) don't do well in extreme temperatures causing the striations. Arman was kind enough to replace my lenses free of charge and with same day pickup! When I picked them up they were good as new and he even adjusted them. Truly the best service I've ever received from an eyewear store. He is my go to guy now for future lenses and I recommend him for anyone wanting to support an honest and kind small business! read more

When I first entered, I was immediately greeted by a gentleman affectionately referred to as "Mac". He is nicknamed Mac because it is easy to remember. Let me tell you about Mac. He is a consummate professional. He made me feel like the most important person in his life during our brief exchange, and he really catered to my needs. He was not pushy and tailored my wants and needs with his expert technical knowledge-base and fashion sensibility. I ended up getting two pair of glasses. One for my slight stigmatism, for my far-sightedness. I purchased a pair of Modo frames with that prescription which have been complimented on by others. Additionally, I purchased a pair of reading glasses. They are a stronger prescription for my nearsightedness. They are the most important of my prescriptions for my daily life. The two frames are completely different in design and style and this was intentionally suggested by Mac, and I'm very grateful because they're pretty slick looking. I couldn't be happier with my purchases and I have received many compliments on the look of both pairs. Hallelujah! My boyfriend finally decided he needed some new glasses. He wanted 2 pairs and with no vision insurance chipping in, price was a top priority. So he went to Yelp and found Payrite Optical, dragging me along in the role of fashion consultant. I hadn't read the reviews and judging by the name and the strip mall exterior was expecting the Payless Shoes of eyewear. Boy was I wrong. We were immediately were greeted by the owner, who quickly sized us up and made sure to run everything past me. The owner was a trip: part used car salesman, part Tim Gunn, part QVC host. He gave his honest feedback (wisely agreeing with me in any minor domestic disagreements....). In the end, we ended up with 2 frames that everyone agreed were fantastic. Then came the prices, which were very fair. That part felt a bit over the top, but without having said a word about his price range, the glasses came to $2 less than my boyfriend's preferred budget. The owner insisted that we say "hallelujah" when he told us the final price, which we did. With sincerity. The selection was truly impressive. This is where you go to get statement frames. I just had one of the best customer service experiences EVER here! My wife's favorite prescription reading glasses needed repair. I found this shop online and dropped in. The place is small and it was packed with customers. I was warmly greeted at the back counter where I handed over the glasses. I asked if they could be repaired. "Sure," I was told. I expected the typical "did you purchase them here" (I hadn't) question and then either a "we don't repair other shops' glasses" or something like that. Nope! Neither did I have to leave them for 2 weeks to be sent off. The gentleman immediately started working on them and had the glasses fixed in no time. And there was no charge despite my protest to pay him for his time and repair work. I now know why the shop was busy. Courteous, excellent, attentive, customer-centric people will bring me through the door every time. No guess where we will be purchasing ALL our glasses in the future! He took his time with me and picked out frames that look amazing on me. I tried on other frames too but ultimately settled on his choice, because it was the best! Armand is the master of eyewear. I had heard he could fit vintage eye glasses with your Rx, and the rumors were true. He can, and the price is SO right! I gave him some extremely fragile cat eyes that I had rescued from a Bastrop thrift store and he turned them into new glasses in two weeks. And it cost, like, sixty bucks or something ridiculously cheap. Granted, you have to sign a waiver, because that shit could break easily. But he fitted my great grandma vintage frames as well, so this man has the magic touch! I live in Austin now, and Armand is totally worth the three hour drive up.
