Please read below... Very odd experience with a few employees. Renita at first seemed dedicated but that changed to over stepping boundaries and inserting herself where she did not belong. Renita was sending videos of my incapacitated brother along with his bad actor caretaker who Happened to clean out my brothers checking account out on July 16th 2026 to my brother's attorney who drew up his AMCD and POA etc. I demanded a copy of the videos be sent to me immediately. Apparently, my brother was being psychologically tortured by Paul Mendoza according to Renita. He was telling my brother that I was going to put him in a nursing home. I asked Renita who was telling my brother that and her reply was it had to be Paul Mensoza. NO one else was there. Paul sent the videos to Renita and Renita sent them to my brother's estate attorney. My brother's estate attorney was approached and called by Renita. Very strange/odd behavior. After this a few days later, Roze Room called Paul Mendoza to check to see how Michael was and Paul tried to fire them. He has no authority to do such a thing. Renita was another victim of Paul Mendoza. She was used. The Spirtual Advisor story contradicted the HOA cameras. Joe Smith (spiritual advisor) stated he waited outside my brother's building for 45 minutes waiting to be let in the building. The HOA has him on Camera entering the building at 6:05PM. Joe, for your info i have installed a security system in my brother's condo. Joe called me on the phone and he was very sarcastic, disingenuous and uncaring nature. I hired these people because my brother wanted to stay home and the women at Cedars gave me the name and stated they would travel to Century City. Luckily, my brother's building has security cameras and has a library of people that come into the building and can tell you exactly what time they entered. It was night and day better than any of the other places I looked at and when my friend moved in she was very happy there. The director (?), Stella, was honest about what they could and couldn't do, she never overpromised and always made me feel like she truly cared. She was extremely knowledgeable and was happy to share her recommendations and opinions. She went out of her way to make the intake process as smooth as possible. My mom has everything she needs here. When she first arrived, I accompanied Hilda to the market to help her discover the kinds of foods my mom likes - talk about personal service! There is also a beautiful garden with wheelchair access. Hilda also has a handicap-access van and can take my mom to the doctor if/when that is necessary. The staff always makes sure my mom is clean, comfortable and warm. They apply creams to her body and face. They feed her when she needs assistance and help her with showers and other needs in the bathroom. Best of all is Bruce, the "therapy pup" at My Mother's Place. Medicare and Optum covered the hospice side. I paid separately for 24/7 caregivers through Sincere Care Services, which I chose because I wanted Cantonese and Mandarin speakers so my mother would be more comfortable. Five Star was recommended by the Optum physician on staff. Separately, a family member recommended them too, through a friend whose father had passed the week before. I checked their ratings on Yelp and Google before moving forward, and I am extremely happy with the service we got from start to finish. This is the point where you decide between more hospital intervention, which can be painful, and accepting the situation and moving to hospice. Hospice is the wedding coordinator for a peaceful death. Things can still go wrong even when you plan everything perfectly, but Five Star was there at every step to handle whatever came up. The rough sequence for anyone about to do this: 1. Decide on hospice. 2. Line up caregivers. They are separate from Five Star, but Five Star will point you to good ones. I wanted Chinese-speaking caregivers and Mark made it happen. 3. Coordinate with the hospital on transportation. 4. Be home to receive the supplies. 5. Be home when your loved one arrives. Have a bottle of distilled water ready for the oxygen machine. 6. Have the nurse and the caregiver both there so you can learn the comfort meds. 7. I used 24/7 caregivers on 12-hour shifts. I made a point of being there whenever a new caregiver came on, so I could walk them through the medications and get their phone number. Nurses came once a day to check on my mother since she was close. You do not have to be there the whole time, but I tried to be there for shift changes. One thing I wish I had watched more closely was bowel movements. My mother had been constipated since the hospital because she was not eating. Another tip: put together a playlist of beautiful music to play in the room. Otherwise it is silence, or your loved one is listening to caregivers talk and scroll on their phones. Even when your loved one is not responsive, they are still listening and drifting in and out. Tell them everything will be okay. Thank them for everything they did for you. I think it helps them go peacefully. Anytime I needed something, Mark was a text or a call away and he always answered. Again, they are the wedding coordinators for a loved one's passing, and they will do everything within their power to help you through it.

My elderly mom had a slow healing leg wound that required home…read morehealth visits and outside doctor office visits to monitor & change dressings, showering help to keep the wound dry, dressing help and misc assistance so she could stay still enough to elevate her leg to encourage healing, and general help staying on top of all her appointments & needs. After speaking with a few other agencies & a single terrible experience with a contract caregiver, I chose this company because I liked that their caregivers are employees. Care Manager Yeni Anaya worked with me to learn about my mom's personality, quirks, sensitivities, & needs. Based on what I told her, she recommended a caregiver named Geraldine Rios for my mom. Now, almost 2 years later & long past the healing of the wound that made me seek out a caregiver in the first place, I have kept Geraldine on a regular schedule. I am so grateful for Yeni's recommendation & for the many hours of patience & caring & listening that Geraldine has dedicated to make my mom's life more rich & balanced. My mom can be fun & incessantly talkative, or quiet & broody, or picky & cranky. She does not socialize with many people - she was accustomed to just being with my dad for a century, so she is a one-person person. Geraldine handles all her moods like a pro. Before Geraldine, my dad was the only one who could do that. Geraldine has encouraged my mom to join in on more activities offered at her assisted living facility than she ever has, so they have fun together & it makes my mom socialize more with other residents. She also learned & remembered my mom's little OCD preferences, her own quirky ways of doing many things, plus the things that triggered her, & the things that bring her joy - like planting flowers or repotting orchids to rebloom again. Geraldine has a regular weekly schedule, but has always been flexible to change or edit her hours if my mom needs to make a doctor's appointment at a different time, or decides she is too cranky & needs alone time, or wants to take a 2-hour shower during which she blabs to her & turns the water off every 15 minutes to conserve resources. I can always count on Geraldine to let me know if anything seems off with my mom, so she has given me so much peace of mind. When my mom is in a good mood, she laughs w/Geraldine & they have fun. When my mom is cranky, she will blame anything & everything on Geraldine. When my mom is needy, she will ask Geraldine to never leave her til she dies. I imagine this is similar to how my mom used to act with my dad before he passed away. I hope that your loved ones can be matched with someone like Geraldine too. I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.
