In just 60 days of classes here and there, our DOG has made insanely huge improvements. Ranging from more structured walks, instead of towing us around, sit, stay, recall and being around other dogs and not getting too anxious. Our dog use to not be able to be around another dog without whining and anxiety taking over, he is making huge progressive every week though with Ed's classes and guidance!! We just finished his 6 week group training and I plan on going into the next class, which is more advanced with more dogs, higher pace and continue the learning and training with our dog TANK! I was about to put my rescue Charlie down as he nipped one of my dog walkers on the thumb. Charlie had a rough three years before we adopted him. He was beaten by his former owner, who lives on the streets and abuses drugs and alcohol. Cocker Rescue got him off the streets, and we adopted him, not realizing how traumatized he was. I finally decided to take him to Adult Dog Training with Kate and her South Bark Dog Wash staff. I am blown away by how my dogs behave differently now. I took our latest rescue, Lulu, there before I brought Charlie, so Kate trained my dogs and me. My groomer told me yesterday that he NO longer has to muzzle Charlie while he gets groomed. He said that Charlie had turned into this beautiful, loving dog. Charlie has even stopped nipping at my husband's heels and no longer "guards me" when my husband gets home. Thank you Kate and Sheridan for everything, I am literally crying as I write this. To those of you who are kind enough to read this review, I am being genuine when I say that if you love your dog, you will take the time to train them properly. You may be saving their lives. He gets excited the moment we turn down her street, and I can tell he feels safe, confident, and loved every time he's with her. Care's space is truly a dog's wonderland. Her yard is incredible--full of room for dogs to run, play, dig, explore, and lounge in sunny nap spots. Beau plays hard all day and always comes home happy and fulfilled. I joke that it's his "vacation home," but honestly it really is. What makes Care so special is that it's not just free play--she provides structure, safety, and thoughtful integration with her dog, her family, and the other dogs in her care. Beau stays on a healthy routine, learns to socialize appropriately, and gets the perfect balance of activity and rest. I also love that she posts pictures and videos of him on Instagram while he's there--it's the best feeling seeing how much fun he's having and knowing he's in such great hands. The peace of mind I feel leaving Beau with Care is priceless. She has created an environment where dogs can truly be dogs--while still having the safety, guidance, and structure they need to thrive. TL;DR - Basically, our application got rejected, but they ghosted me until I reached out a 3rd…read moretime, 5 days later. That's when I found out we were rejected, because they don't think people with new babies should adopt a dog. I reached out, because we were interested in adopting a dog, after our old man dog passed. Followed up with a text within the day, just to see if the dog we wanted was still available. Was told over text that they'd get back to us soon. Well, 5 days elapsed, and I heard nothing about our application. I reached out via email to ask if the dog we wanted was just gone. At that point, I get a terse email saying, "Will you prefer not to adopt dogs to people with brand new babies. A new baby is so much work. Our experience has been that people often return and adopted dog because it's too much work. We highly recommend you wait for a couple of years." I respond: That's not gonna happen. I suffered from allergies, and while it's not a proven hypothesis, there's evidence to show that animal exposure at a young age can help mitigate allergies. And we have a nanny during the weekdays. You could have told me you didn't want to consider us, instead of just ignoring me. A little 'tude-y? Sure. But finding the right dog has been a frustrating process, and getting ghosted by an agency that says they're responsive is rude. Then she gaslights me by saying "You could've responded in a nicer way and we probably would've talked with you." And I call bullshit: So you reject our application, but don't tell us until I reach out for a 3rd time. And at that time tell us it's because you don't think people with babies should adopt dogs, but it's somehow my fault for being annoyed? You have a right to your opinion, and I'm sure it's frustrating dealing with people who can't stick to their commitments, but the least you could have done was respond. You closed the conversation, not me. Adoption is already a hard process, especially now that our family has more requirements. The least a standalone agency can do is be responsive, transparent, and honestly, less judgy. Getting ignored and rejected without a conversation, and a blanket rejection based on what our family looks like was shocking to me.
