All the while I also wanted Kip to help me feel more confident about my body. Kip customized a workout plan for me that was safe but showed quick results. He also was very understanding of my travel schedule for work. He pushed me hard and kept me motivated (which is hard to do with me). I enjoyed the way Kip would keep some pattern to my workouts so I could see my results, but I also liked how he kept things changing from time to time to keep it fresh. He has a lot of knowledge, experience and wisdom to help you achieve a body you never thought you could achieve and you likely won't on your own. I'm happy to report that I completed 3 triathlons that year and achieved a greater sense of personal confidence in my body where I cared more about feeling strong and fit then the number on my scale. I also happened to get engaged that year (my husband proposed right after I came home from a workout with Kip! :)) Needless to say, I wanted Kip to help me look and feel as good as I could for my beach wedding and he succeeded! If I was still in the area, I'd be using his services right now to help me recover from pregnancy!! Thanks to her sessions, I have survived some of the most hectic times. I am so excited to see her open her studio focusing on the yoga/meditation and self improvement aspect. Larisa has the best style. She has tailored sessions for our classes and is intuitive when it comes to what we need to focus on. My day goes a lot better when I can fit in a class with her and now that she's offering private sessions and overnight retreats, I can enjoy a condensed get away with a couple close friends. Her new studio is about a 45 minute drive for me but perfect for being able to unwind from life's chaos and enjoy the scenery. I love the views into the trees and downtown Frederick is only about 10 minutes away to get a bite to eat afterwards or make a day trip out of it.

The difference between a big chain gym and a family-owned gym is that when you're a member at Clinch, you are family. The owners, staff, coaches, even other members genuinely care about each other and every person that walks in the front door, no matter your age, size, fitness or skill level. They are versatile, with a variety of classes for kids and adults, encouraging, positive, friendly, and welcoming. Personally, I have had some challenges since becoming a member that I could not have gotten through without them. When I miss a class, I'm not just missing an opportunity to workout, I'm missing Clinch... something else I never thought I'd say about a gym.

The person would spend 15 minutes with me, and then send me off to do exercises. This did not lead to much improvement, as my body mechanics were so out of whack that I wasn't using the right muscles to do the work. When I came to Mind/Body it was a completely different story. You spend the entire time with one therapist, and they do both deep tissue work and exercises, whether it's Pilates or more traditional work. They focus on functional strength and make sure you are doing the exercises properly.
