We just held a birthday party for ten 15 & 16 year olds at Complexity. As someone in another review mentioned, one great thing about this company is that you book a room for your party - you don't end up sharing your time slot with another group so they can maximize sales. And, on the flip side, Complexity has a room that can accommodate 10 (the Cat Burglar) where some other companies max out at 6 or 8. Michelle was on hand to assist us (and was also helpful in answering my questions on the phone beforehand). After the kids finished the puzzle (they succeeded, with a couple of hints) we rented the party room for a nominal fee and Michelle helped us serve food and took care of the cleanup after. We got the sense, after talking to Michelle, that she's in this business for the love of it. I can't say too much about the puzzle room, since I did not go in the room with the kids - I was able to watch them on a monitor and it seemed like they were all engaged and excited whenever they made progress. It seemed well decorated, with appropriate music, and some challenging puzzles. Without going through the room myself, I guess the best thing I can say is that we asked the kids, when they finished, if they would do another puzzle room and we got an enthusiastic "yes" from everyone (one even asked if we could do another room on the spot). One girl had done an escape room in NYC and said she enjoyed this one better, for what that's worth. I wouldn't recommend this for young kids - the owners are working on plans for puzzles that are better suited to youngsters. They require an adult in the room for kids under 15 - I would think that kids a bit younger than 15 could do fine ... in the 10-12 year old range, I think they could enjoy the room quite a bit, just with a big more help from adults in the room. On the other hand, I think adults of any age would enjoy it - just watching the kids on the monitor made me wonder if we could get a group of our own friends together (maybe send the kids in one room and let the parents tackle another !) read more

A great deal of fun, and a challenge to boot. This was my first time doing a puzzle room and the owner Michelle made sure we felt comfortable before even starting the challenge. We took on the pirate ship room, a well-crafted example of what a puzzle room should be. The puzzles were indeed tough, but hints were available, and the hints did not give too much away; you still needed to work for the solution. I highly recommend Complexity to experience a new type of fun. I can definitely see taking on the cat burglar room in a future visit. Also a great way to show some intelligence off in a date; also a good way to see how well you are at communicating with your team mates. If you're ever in Farmington, CT, give Complexity a visit. Our experience with Michelle and her escape rooms were great from beginning to end. She was very helpful and accommodating when I was scheduling a large group from my church. Then was very patient and friendly with our group of 16 people that came. The actual rooms were super fun and the puzzles were just challenging enough without being impossible. Every single one of us walked out of the rooms with smiles on our faces and we all immediately wanted to switch rooms so that we could all experience both. As newbies to the Escape Room adventures, we had no idea what to expect. Calling for a reservation was easy and informative. We decided on the the Cat Burgler. Eight of us showed up at the appointed time and after all of us using the lavatory and signing waivers, we were given our instructions. We never felt rushed....until we had one clue to solve and tens minutes to go! We had a blast! I can tell you that everyone of our group will be doing this again. We had just finished a summer mission trip and were looking for a fun group activity which would appeal to our teens. This was the perfect choice! Michelle was organized and ready when we arrived -- she split our teens up perfectly and into the 3 rooms they went! My first exit room ever and i have enjoyed it so much. When we were struggling we had subtle hints along the way but it was still a very enjoyable experience. Definately will recommend to friends. I would suggest just making a sign blink, cause when we got to the building everything looked closed, and it's only a small hallway entranceway that can easily be missed. This place was amazing! Michelle, the owner, was so helpful in making sure that we didn't have any questions before going into the room and she was also open to suggestions after we got out. She was also very helpful in giving us little hints if she felt we were stuck on one puzzle for too long. This was my first experience with a puzzle room and I enjoyed it so much. Michelle took such good care of us fully explaining the scenario for The Mall puzzle room. She monitored and gave great hints when necessary. The girls were thinking and discussing all the puzzles for quite a while afterward!
