I am very disappointed with Comprehensive Consultation Psychological Services. I originally had a good experience with the friendly and professional staff that evaluated me in December. Everything since then has amounted to the most consistently unprofessional conduct I have ever encountered. Much like the other reviewer, I was told I could expect the results of my examination within eight weeks. I called immediately at the eight week mark, as I have certain difficulties in school and wanted to resolve them as soon as possible. They told me to wait two more weeks. I called two weeks later and again, I am told I have to wait two more weeks for the results. At this point, I am beginning to think there is some type of weird scam being performed but I continued to follow up for the results because they were so important to me. After all the run around, I got the test results in April. In early June, when I had time for a follow up to discuss the results with one of the staff members, I called and got an appointment for July. They called me three times to reschedule the appointment, which was fine, but I started to get worried knowing what I already went through with them. I finally show up for my appointment today, and lo and behold, I was not scheduled for the date and time THEY had rescheduled me for. There was no record of an appointment whatsoever! I just want them to refer me out at this point. This ineptitude is beyond what patients should tolerate in a medical setting. Follow up: After I emailed my grievance I received an immediate and helpful response from Dr. Hafeez. My original consultation with her was great so I will be using their services at least one additional time. The errors, although frustrating, seem to be clerical and unrelated to the psychological services which I was pleased with. read more

I started my ADHD testing process in September 2022. Before I started the process, and before I could schedule My initial consult with Dr. Hafeez, the person I spoke with advised me that the estimated time line from the start of the process until I received my results would be approximately 5 months. This would mean that I wouldn't have results until February, which I was okay with, since I was 59 years old, and this was more to confirm what I already suspected. Fast forward to the start of my final testing session in December, where I was informed by the testing psychologist that my results would not be available until May 2023. I was devastated, because I really thought I would have an answer regarding the reason for my struggles soon. While waiting for CCPS results, which I did not receive until mid-April, I had myself evaluated elsewhere at my own expense, and got my results quickly. When I finally did get my results from CCPS, Dr. Hafeez arrived over 30 minutes late, and I wasn't seen for another 15 minutes. Then, in the middle of my "Informing Conference", which I recorded, Dr. Hafeez interrupted the session to take a phone call. When she returned, she apologized and said she had to take the call because it was her OB/GYN with the results of her pap smear. When I requested corrections to details and context in the report I received, Dr. Hafeez was dismissive of my concerns. If I could give zero stars, I would. As a former customer, let me educate you on the scam Dr. Hafeez and her firm have going. Over the past couple decades, the diagnostic criteria for and general awareness of the autistic and ADHD neurotypes have greatly improved. (That's why there's been an explosion of both child and adult diagnoses in recent years.) Unfortunately, psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses and other medical professionals capable of diagnosing someone autistic or ADHD (especially an adult) rarely accept insurance. Out of pocket, a diagnosis could cost thousands. That's where Hafeez's scam comes in. Despite having very little understanding of either of these neurotypes, Hafeez offers to test for them and is one of very few providers in the New York Metro area who accepts all major insurances, attracting those who can't afford to go out of pocket (or, like me, refuse to pay exorbitant rates to medical professionals who only take cash). My experience with Hafeez, her colleague Dr. Connolly and her office staff was initially positive (with the exception of the months-long wait between appointments, questionable charging of my insurance for days I was not seen virtually or in person and Hafeez not showing up to our first virtual appointment allegedly due to an injury). However, the other shoe really dropped at the end of the diagnostic process. During my final virtual appointment with Hafeez, she just rattled off a list of diagnoses she had settled on. Among other things, she confirmed my previously established ASD diagnosis and diagnosed me ADHD as well. I was elated to find out I was an AuDHDer and looked forward to exploring my newly recognized ADHD neurotype. However, that elation didn't last long. When I got the formal diagnostic report by e-mail (a PDF protected only by an easily guessable password), I was horrified. Beyond lazy mistakes, like misspelling my name and misgendering me halfway through a clearly copied-and-pasted stock paragraph, Hafeez accused me of lying about the neurotypes and conditions I openly discuss and masking an unspecified substance-abuse disorder. She basically wrote in the report that her formal diagnoses should be treated with a grain of salt and that any medical professional treating me should take into account my non-existent dishonesty and addiction before deciding on any course of treatment. She also used language equal parts ignorant and ableist, like labeling me "mildly autistic." After e-mailing back and forth with Hafeez, I came away with no revisions (not even the minor ones, like correcting the misspelling of my name). Hafeez accused me of disrespecting her expertise and refused to change a single word. She said one of the self-administered personality tests she had me take told her I was lying and masking an addiction and that she couldn't override what the test concluded. She said, if I wanted, she would add an explanatory note, but wouldn't make any other changes. Hafeez completely ignored or hand-waved my concerns, including the very real concern that any medical professional reading the report would likely refuse to prescribe me stimulants to accommodate my ADHD neurotype. She also didn't take seriously my outrage over being falsely branded a liar with a substance-abuse disorder (not that anyone living with a substance-abuse issue should be stigmatized; they shouldn't be). While I believe Hafeez's ADHD diagnosis was sound, I've been left with a useless report I could never show to any medical professional, government agency or employer without redacting at least half the document. I also personally know multiple people who have had even worse experiences with Hafeez, who apparently likes to invalidate and disrespect Autistic and other neurodivergent patients and deny them formal diagnoses altogether. My therapist has also told me they have heard horror stories from several of their other neurodivergent clients. Two major Autistic-led organizations in the New York area have even removed Hafeez from their list of recommended diagnosticians because of these consistently terrible experiences. If you're considering seeing Hafeez for any kind of diagnosis for yourself or a loved one, I urge you to reconsider. You're better off hunting down another provider who takes insurance (a Herculean task, I know) or saving up the money to pay a provider out of pocket. Hafeez will leave you traumatized and without the documentation you need to access support or accommodation, so there's no point in seeing her no matter how desperate you are. If you've also been a victim of Hafeez's scam, know that you're not alone. I strongly urge you to not only leave a negative review here, but also to report her unethical behavior to the New York State Department of Education (the state agency that oversees psychologists) and to your insurance company. read more

I reached out as someone seeking an Autism Diagnosis. My 1st consultation was with Dr. Hafeez. I explained why I thought I might be autistic. As a background, my education is human services and public health, I work training case managers who secure healthcare/disability services for people with disabilities. When I first heard the word autism associated with me it was from a speech pathologist colleague and mentor. I explained my expertise in the field, and my decade long process to feel comfortable enough to seek an official diagnosis. She informed me in the consult that I "should not diagnose myself off TikTok" and that she would be surprised if I were autistic because autistic people can't get "master's degrees without support." I shrugged off this ableist bias and politely informed her that I've known several people who are officially diagnosed as autistic and have higher education (there's such a stigma) and reiterated that my assumption comes from professionals (including an autistic therapist and speech pathologist) and my own experience working in the disability field. My next 2 sessions were with clinicians who seemed much less bias. Testing is rigorous. I was tested with standard IQ tests, the ADOS, and many others. I did note that I came into the testing prepared with a list of autistic characteristics. I had heard of adults being interviewed about their experiences as many of us are overlooked as children because we learn to cover up and adapt to our autistic traits (called masking). I came in with notes to discuss how I socialize, issues with sensory stimulation, special interests, meltdowns, struggle with changes in routine, proclivity with lining up objects, etc. But there was no interview. It took several months and this place is located nearly 3 hours away, but I only had to pay 4 copays which was refreshing since adult assessments are at least $800. I received my report and was surprised by the findings. Dr. Hafeez explained I "have a lot of autistic traits" but that doesn't mean I'm autistic. She noted my results were "borderline" and I come off as "high functioning autistic to some people." She explained I have insomnia (common for autism). She said I seem to have social anxiety but was confused as to why I didn't associate my social struggles with anxiety and I explained I'm not anxious when I know people will understand me, but in situations I have to play mental chess (with neurotypical people), it's exhausting. This is common in autism, but I'm not autistic. She noted a nearly "gifted" ability to learn verbally in my IQ test. She noted this "giftedness" as well as a previous statement I had made about reading at age 3 (hyperliteracy) as having a lot overlap with autism. But not autistic. I have a sensory processing disorder but mine isn't related to autism. The issues I struggle with in socialization, she noted, likely come from my ability to retain verbal information so if I'm at a restaurant, I can read the menu, listen to a friend, and overhear another conversation. This may cause me to pull out unintended information from the communication and might be overwhelming because I process that information simultaneously. If you are wondering if this sounds autistic, it is, but not mine. And lastly the ADOS. The ADOS is designed to look at autistic characteristics in childhood, as an adult, both, or neither. Many autistic people diagnosed as adults learn to mask their characteristics and thus get missed as children. Example, if I think everyone should be called by their full names and my 2nd grade classmate says that's weird, I learn that's not socially appropriate. My ADOS indicated autism. Dr. Hafeez believes I was so convinced I was autistic that I talked myself into answering accordingly. This implies that I drove 11 hours, paid her $140 to fake a stigmatizing diagnosis that I will receive no benefits from. Is this because she thinks it's trending on TikTok? Why does this look like a duck, sound like a duck, but is not a duck? Because I made "decent eye contact, used reciprocal language, and laughed appropriately" (nervously). I asked her about masking for which she simply stated they checked and I'm not. She did note that results are not always accurate and they may be misinterpreting the data. Yes, I will be seeking a 2nd opinion. As a healthcare professional, I rarely like condemning professionals. Analyzing data and the complexity of the human body is not always a perfect science that ends up in neat boxes, but this was done in an extremely unprofessional manner. Autistic or not, her ableism is detrimental to the welfare of her patients (imagine a parent getting their child's diagnosis and their child is insinuated as incompetent, or someone who is undergoing weekly therapy who is insinuated that they are pretending their symptoms). I am looking forward to another clinician who is prepared to provide me with a less ableist lens of my diagnosis (or lack of). read more

I had a good experience getting an evaluation for my child. It did take a long time for the report to come back but it was very comprehensive and confirmed many things that our family had been experiencing. Dr. Hafeez offered concrete and useful next steps. Between long waiting times to get appointments and report results and the extremely high cost for the testing, I recommend steering clear of this place. The manner in which Dr. Hafeez conducts the final consultation might very well exacerbate and trigger the disorders you contacted the facility about in the first place. read more

It will take 4 and a half MONTHS to get the reports from the battery of tests done (original estimate was 8 weeks); school will be finished for the 20/23 year by then, so it won't be of any immediate help for my child. I could not afford anyplace else, and they are the only practice that accepts my insurance for the testing. However, after receiving the test results, which will be sent by email, any additional copies going forward will be an out of pocket cost of $350.00.. Also, the place is pretty dirty. They ask you to wear a mask due to Covid 19, but do they ever clean any touch surfaces? Take a look at the door as you walk back into the waiting room...it is pretty gross. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. We were trying to get our son into a state funded private school because the public school setting wasn't right for him. We had used Dr. Hafeez in the past for his turning 5 process so we went back to her again. We started the process last February and had an hour Zoom consultation meeting. We were going through my insurance as opposed to paying out of pocket so we knew things would take longer. That's why we started early to get ready for September. He had his first meeting in about April and then another one 30 days later. They said they had to break it up for insurance purposes. As I said, we already had planned for this so we were OK with it. They then said that they would have to wait three months to make sure they get paid. THREE MONTHS! We had to wait until August to have him seen again. We were annoyed but complied. I called my insurance and they said everything was paid. This is where it gets crazy. August comes and it's the day before his appointment. I get a call from the office and I'm expecting this to be them confirming the appointment but its them calling to say that there has been an issue with payment and I have two options:. 1. Go in and risk having to pay 3 or 4 thousand dollars for the scheduled appointment if the insurance doesn't cover it 2. Just pay about 2 thousand dollars out of pocket and have it done in one day. Mind you, this is the day BEFORE the appointment and three months has already passed and I'm trying to get the process going for September. It is disgusting to try and manipulate parents who are desperately trying to get their kids into better schooling and you spring this on them the day before the scheduled appointment. They told me I had till the end of the business day to let them know. Imagine telling someone you have a couple hours to think about thousands of dollars. I told them I'm cancelling the appointment and going with someone else and they would never see our business again. I ended up digging into my savings and finding another doctor and made an appointment for the next week. Paid a lot more but got a much more comprehensive report. Worth every penny. This is not the way to conduct business. Even if there was an issue with billing, tell me in advance so I can go in another direction. But to be held hostage because you know in August you will have a hard time finding someone is utterly disgusting. The only reason she was OK the first time around was because we paid CASH for the evaluation. Even then, we had to call for edits and she wasn't too happy with that. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. About a year ago, we went for an initial consult for our then-5 year old who was having academic difficulties. At the time I wasn't impressed with the office space and after waiting an inordinate amount of time in the waiting room, I was really turned off by the practice, despite finding the clinician affable and knowledgeable. Against our better judgment, we decided to make another appointment for an eval to assess for learning disabilities when our now-6 year old continued to struggle with reading. We made an appointment for the one day we could both manage with our busy work schedules, and confirmed the date in writing via email multiple times. Imagine our surprise when we pulled the kid out of camp, took the day off from work, and showed up on time for our appointment only to be told there was a mix-up and our appointment was for later in the week. We showed them the emails confirming the date, and they even didn't so much as apologize for the inconvenience. While there, we decided to cancel the other appointment (since there was no way we would use them now) and they had the audacity to ask if we wanted to reschedule. Are you kidding? We're furious! We've been inconvenienced, we used our valuable time off, and pulled our kid out of camp and away from her friends for the day (and spent money to park the car). This was an unmitigated failure on their part - and we have the emails to prove it. We're both attorneys and if our staff did this to our clients, they would no longer have jobs. Hiring incompetent people to act as the gate keeper to your practice can destroy your reputation and threaten the success of your business. This practice was recommended by a colleague who used it for an evaluation of his child, but based on other reviews here, it seems his favorable opinion is in the minority. It's unfortunate - this is one of the few places that accepts insurance for this type of service, and they lacked the lengthy waiting list that many other places have. Now we know why. read more

My kid has ADD, and his pediatrician asked us to seek a neuro psychological evaluation. So we called this place since it's close to us. I called on 2 different occasions asking about price, range, time it takes etc. The lady on the phone (Natasha or Natalia) was wishy washy about the whole process. I had questions about insurance, and she couldn't answer me with a clear cut answer. So I asked if I needed to call my insurance company and figure it out myself because I would hate to have to deal with a large bill after learning that my insurance won't cover. She said no. They will deal with it themselves. Ok cool..but it's going to take 7 months (!!!!) which she said is due to the insurance policy.. I called back the next day to get more information, and someone else picked up the phone this time. She basically gave me a different story, and could not even give me a straight answer as to how much it would actually cost if I choose to pay out of pocket. She also said nobody knows how long it will take... and at that point, i am like.. .wow, I felt more confused than ever before. Even though I have not gone through the actual process with the doctor, the whole experience just trying to understand what the evaluation looks like, cost, timeline, process... is already a major pain in the behind and somewhat fishy. Absolutely ridiculous that they will not see my son because we have not met our deductible ( it's ONLY January ). Yes, I know I will have to pay after I get the invoice and if it match my insurance EOB. BUT they won't even let me make an appointment because we have an deductible?! I'm seriously concern if this is even legal. If every doctor decides to do this we can never see anyone because we will not even have a chance to see anyone. We were seeking a neuro psychological evaluation for my son. I called a couple of places and decided to move forward with Comprehensive Consultation due to location and availability. The initial meeting and the following evaluation sessions went well. I am not impressed with the office space and the administrative staff is not very knowledgeable. The reason that I am giving it one star is the timing to receive the final report after having the informal review of results meeting; over 8 weeks to receive the final report. It seems that they are only focused and timely on actions that can be billed. It has been over 8 weeks and I still have not received the report needed to start my son's IEP process. I followed up a couple of times and was told I should receive the report via email in a couple of days; over 8 weeks and no report. read more

My daughter is really smart but starting having trouble at school. I tried everything from doctors to therapists and nothing helped and then i came across Dr's page and i took a chance. I am so glad i did. She was great. Now atleast i know how to deal with the issue and learning to understand the issues my daughter faces. I have uhc and my services were covered.
