They also do our annual mulch and put it throughout our gardens, 27 yard's worth in one day. They are also a tree trimmer and lawn service company but we haven't used them for that since we haven't had a problem with our current mower and I have a great tree company. The prices are consistent if you use them each year. I really enjoy when I see Nelson each spring. Try them out you won't be disappointed.

When I got home, I realized that my beautiful shrubs and trees are destroyed after Desy butchered the plants with an electric trimmer that left ugly, unevenly cut exposed areas lacking any greenery on shrubs. The trees were even worse. Trees that were once full are reduced to a collection of bare sticks with occasional patches of leaves. This in the middle of summer during some of the hottest weather of the year. Those greeneries are not going to grow back for months, maybe years. I had beautiful lush shrubs and all I asked is that they were trimmed back a little. I do NOT recommend Desy General Contractor. When he came by to do the estimate he quoted $100 for trimming and $30.00 for mowing the lawn. The damage that he has done to our trees and shrubs surpass the cost of $100 for trimming and I refuse to pay for such sloppy and horrible work. You truly get what you pay for. Do yourself and your plants a favor and hire real professionals.

So THAT needed to go, as well as the remaining 2 ailanthus trees. Then as we looked at the tree with the large limbs, of course then we see it was rotten at the top. So that huge tree also needed to go. Bottom line was we spent way more that we had initially hoped, but once the crew was working it was easy to see why it cost what it did. They had an amazing piece of equipment that fit into the backyard and was able to reach way up to the tree top. The crew did a fantastic job of removing the trees without hitting our roof, the fence, the neighbors house and fence, etc. They also did a wonderful job of cleaning up after the removal, and it at our request left us some oak firewood, nicely stacked. I would not hesitate to hire them again. I had gotten several other quotes before going with Mills. It was hard to compare quotes because we ended up doing more work that initially planned, but we are glad we did the additional work.

Now on to other observations - My requirements changed based on the estimates received and I decided to forego getting a patio through a company due to labor costs. I did however want to use them for new flower beds and landscaping near the front of my home. I asked about the 10% coupon and was informed that it had to be mentioned at the beginning of discussions - that isn't mentioned anywhere on the coupon so it seems like since the needs changed from a 10K project to a 1K project they weren't as willing to honor this coupon. They also don't provide diagrams which are helpful in trying to decide which company to choose. They said they don't have the technology but other companies simply provided drawings to scale - no technology required, just a pencil and measurements. :) Do your homework, get multiple estimates and go with your gut for any home project. Shear Scapes didn't fit my needs due to the size of my job, but they may work for you and your needs.

I would caution others to be very careful about paying them in advance. Fully 18 months after paying for services in advance, I am still trying to get them to complete their work. They keep giving me dates that they don't honor. I am now at a point I must seek legal action against them to recover costs for the work that was not finished. I hired a different company this year and am very happy with them.
