I was scheduled for a procedure ESWL. Arrival 10:30. Running 2 hours behind. 20 min outpatient procedure led to rhe worst pain I've ever experienced in my life! Vomitted blood. Blood in urine (normal) I had to be admitted to get the pain under control with torodol and fentanyl. It still took 6 hours to subside. Released the next day with a hospital visit from another doctor from the practice. Dr. Ludowsky performed my procedure. Dr. KEUER scheduled. me for the same repeat surgery 14 days later and informed me I would have to have this done at least 4x. No bedside manner, no concern with what happened with a 20 min. Procedure OUTPATIENT. My discharge papers said to make a followup appointment and to be seen within a week. I called and they had nothing available. Than they suggested a video call. Than found time to see me at an office 1 hour from my home to test for a uti. Also one prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy. This was a rush rush procedure. No care taken. 5 days later and im still suffering from lower stomach cramping, light headed and dizziness. And was told after procedure I could return to work the following day. No restrictions. Seriously, I'd like to induce the same level of pain I've been experiencing onto these doctors. Maybe their roles of compassion and caring would improve. I was also asked for a major credit card number before the procedure to be sure the doctor was paid. And the bill had not been submitted to medicare yet. Im not happy with them having access to a credit card number. read more

finally able to lift my head off the pillow after almost 12 hours of vomiting/diarrhea. Had an appt today with Dr. Lewis, but didn't think it was a good idea, nor could i even drive there, to infect their office staff and visitors with this bug, so i called very early to cancel the appt. They cancelled my appt but only after they told me i would incur a cancellation charge. i asked did they really want me to come in and infect everyone and was told that is "their policy". Notwithstanding the fee, the bigger issue i have is that nobody cared about the health of mostly their waiting room visitors by allowing me to basically come in and bring my sickness with me! obviously, it's all about the money and not about the welfare of patients, staff and everyone else. i would be very upset if i knew they allowed others who were as sick as i was to bring it to everyone else! won't ever go back and obviously they won't see one red cent from me. read more

Unfortunately the options for urological care in the area appears sparse. Therefore I'd say comprehensive urological care (CUC) may be better than nothing. I came to CUC -4 months ago having UTI's about once every 3 weeks. Despite an ongoing battery of tests, I'm still having UTI's every 3 week. You would think UTI's would be the common cold of urology. They say they are just doing "good medicine". However, when I get a UTI it would sometimes take 3 days to get an appointment to see a PA. Otherwise, they would advise me to go to my primary care physician. This poses the question if I have to go to my primary care physician for acute UTI treatment and they have not addressed my chronic UTI problem , "what purpose does a urologist serve in UTI treatment?" The staff represents a broad range of competency from fully capable to marginal. Be prepared fill out forms explaining your complaint and then expect to spend the first 3/4 of the appointment answering the same question. Personalities the same. Some marginal, some inspirational. For better or worse, the front staff, is typically somber and businesslike. Forget getting a quick appoint to see a physician. And brace for not being able to see a PA for several days. My particular physician appeared to take offense at being challenged on their opinion. I got the " I'm God, your clod" vibe from them. Be prepared to be treated less like a person and more like a piece of merchandise. All-in-all I would have to say they do "good medicine." Good for them but only secondarily good for you. If you choose a doctor at CUC, just smile them, nod your head, don't ask too many questions, don't challenge what they say. I truly don't think they will kill you, the verdict is still out as to whether they can cure you. read more

The worst medical practice I've experienced. Doctor had little to say and did no physical exam. Prescriptions were sent to the wrong pharmacy and I had to call the office several times to get them to respond to multiple requests from the pharmacy. This review is a little wordy however is representative where larger medical practices have abandoned their focus on the patient and moved to more of a transactional business model. I have been a patient of CUC for nearly thirty years and probably spent in excess of $100K for various surgical procedures. Up until the retirement of Dr Troy, I would rate the care excellent and world class in every measure. In today's environment, it has become difficult to actually see a physician and instead directed to PAs or NPs. My recent surgical procedure was less than world class. I felt more like a cog in a larger machine. In my nearly thirty years of being a patient, I never missed an appointment. I value the doctor's time. However, recently I had dental complications and was medicated, resulting in my missing an appointment. I called immediately and attempted to explain and reschedule. I was advised I would have to pay $100 no show fee, to reschedule. The business manager should take note. You earn customer's one at a time; and lose them the same way. Yes, for $100; I am now moving my business to a smaller practice where I can establish a meaningful doctor to patient relationship. read more

I was in the emergency room twice over the weekend. I was a patient of Dr. Wu at Comprehensive, called first thing Monday morning for an emergency appointment and they couldn't (wouldn't) give me a 15-minute appointment for 8 days. I spoke to many people at the office (Norma, Nancy, Amanda, Tia) and no one would help. Left a message for Dr. Wu to call and received no response Being forced to find a new Urologist on the internet in an emergency situation is not easy and very stressful. read more

I came in just to follow-up after completing some recommended physical therapy and they wanted to do a urinalysis. I questioned why since I wasn't having any new issues and was told this was "standard process" for all visits. I declined. I had the misfortune of forgetting an appointment at Comprehensive Urologic Care in Lake Barrington IL. I called 30 minutes before the appointment time to inform them I would be late, I didn't lie or make any excuses, I was honest and said I forgot about the appointment and requested a later appointment. I was told there were no appointments and that I would be charged $300.00 for the missed appointment and that they would not make a new appointment until I paid the $300.00! I wrote a letter explaining my situation, I'm retired and on a fixed income, asked for forgiveness or a reduced fee and was told NO it's $300.00! Drs may be ok, but the access to the office is very difficult to navigate. Very heavy door to pull in order to enter the building, and then another door to pull open in order to enter the office. Slight incline to enter the building. Limited parking, and only one disabled spot. Hinge handle door to exit examining rooms area back to office lobby. With the number of people who are part of an aging population using this office, one would think there would be automatic doors. No such luck read more

The staff seem to be to busy or to incompetent to provide reliable customer care. I went to my scheduled appointment today having taken time out of my busy clinical practice schedule to be told that it was cancelled It was cancelled nine days earlier without my notice when one of the office staff contacted me to inquire if a urine analysis, which they allegedly order, had arrived to my residence and had been completed. When I said that I had not received it since February when it was supposed to have been ordered. She responded that they would reorder it, never mentioning that my 5/15 appointment would be cancelled. Today I was told that they could refax the order but that there was no guarantee that it would go through and could check with the assessment company. No further appointment was offered and I was told that I needed to follow up with the company that supplied the urine analysis. No apologies or sense of accountability for their poor communication, customer service, or sense of responsible patient care. I was told that they were to busy for such considerations. If that is the case, then they are to busy to give quality care. read more

Dr. Thress was very professional and answered all of my questions and concerns. I have to say I really appreciated the time he spent with me.
