He advised me to purchase the battery myself and let him know when it arrived. Before bringing it in, I organized and backed up my laptop -- even though Joe said it probably wasn't necessary, he agreed it was the wise thing to do. Today I called him, and he told me to bring it right over and he could get it done the same day. What a difference from the Apple Store experience, where I was told I'd need an appointment, then possibly wait 10 days just for them to look at it, followed by another week or more for the repair. I simply couldn't be without my laptop for two weeks. Joe was amazing. He completed the repair in under four hours, the price was very fair, and he was kind, thorough, and professional throughout the entire process. My laptop is working great!!!! Do not under any circumstances use this guy. He will not represent himself or the job he can do…read moreaccurately. When he arrived, I had a non-responding screen. By the time he WALKED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE job, 6 weeks after he started, I was left with a corrupt O/S, a printer that he jammed that cannot be relaced ($269), all software programs DESTROYED, parts he took to work with my keyboard were not returned, refused to return my external drive he STOLE and claimed it was dead. In fact, when he blew up the O/S - the system could not read the drive and it was not a bad drive that had to be replaced. He lied too many times to count. He failed to image my drive before recovering documents. He claimed I needed a new hard drive and I found out now that I didn't. He alleged I needed a new monitor, I bought one. I also returned it because the OLD one works on other computers and my laptop. He claimed Carbonite blew up the O/S and he had to take it Best Buy for recovery. In fact, he took it to to cheap repair place (documented on computer who ran "14" registries and I can't change that THAT DID restore my O/S but did immeasurable other damage and it was returned in worse shape). The fact is that Dan did not even know how to use Carbonite he finally admitted week 6. If he had copied my mirror image and restored Carbonite, ALL would be fixed. Instead more than 10 weeks later, I am on my third technician after buying a new laptop so I have a working PC as I own a small business. The second technician refused to work on it after he saw the "major damage" the first technician had done to my computer and software. The second tech tried but the damage was too great. Dan Groux also lost all my data (he says it was non-recoverable) and another client was able to get some of it back and said it was recovered "wrong." 10 years of history that was back-up on a hard drive AND Carbonite and Dan Groux claimed they both failed. He has refused to return my hard drive along with other items. I wrote and asked for my missing key to the keyboard, missing hard drive, history of what he had done and about the unknown software he downloaded to my system that had no rhyme or reason per a certified Tech. He also destroyed my Outlook and all photographs by the way he TRIED to restore them (all this I have in writing by a certified Micro-soft Technician and two torn pieces of paper found in my broken paper with the date and time on them that prove the timeline happened during Dan The PC Man's "repairs."). He has cost me thousands in lost income, hundreds in lost hardware, I now need a new computer, and external hard drive, along with a new printer, at the very least. He will claim that he was discriminated against at his last job, and thinks everyone who hires him discriminates. Watch your words carefully. I had no idea he had a "handicap" until he told me frankly and told him so. Make sure you have insurance to cover you as he will not do the job, will ruin your computer, and when he finally showed up 6 weeks after he started with my CPU, he tried to hand it to me at the door for ME to put back together again. I wrote multiple times asking questions, telling him I need my equipment including my external drive he claimed was broken. He has refused all responses even after I begged him not to put me in a position to file a criminal complaint. He doesn't care. I have to file a criminal complaint to get my stuff back. That is karma for you. He deserves criminal prosecution. A nice person ... a horrid, lying technician who will not return your supplies and will lie about his capabilities. DO NOT use his computer services. Contact me through Yelp if you want proof of any of the above. This is not a frustrated customer, but a consumer that not only was lied to, but he cost me 3 times what my losses were and had no guilt about it. He made no efforts, attempts of any kind to remedy the situation or offset the damages he created and compounded. That is what compounds the situation. It is clearly a pattern he is comfortable with.
