A great computer repair shop! Honestly, no one wants to have to visit a computer repair shop. It's the last resort after hours of banging on your keyboard in frustration and praying that one more reboot does the trick, followed by haggling with your manufacturer only to learn your warranty has expired (this is definitely not talking from experience). Yet, I do appreciate that we have a good repair place in town that is there in the hour of need. I scheduled an appointment online (but drop-ins seem to be fine too) and ended up with a faulty harddrive that needed replacing (thanks for nothing Microsoft Updates!). A couple days later and everything was good as new, but my wallet sadly a little lighter. I would definitely recommend Computer Repair Doctor, but still hope that I never have to visit again under similar circumstances! read more

I'm very happy with this place. I got a little concerned with the mixed reviews, but decided to come in because every computer shop in Tallahassee that does hard drive recovery didn't return my phone calls or emails. I came in four different times: Once for a quote, once to bring in my hard drive, once to drop off something to transfer, and to pick everything up. Everyone I talked to was extremely friendly and explained everything to me. They do text and email updates which I love. Then I received a call as well as a text to tell me I could pick everything up. There was also a money off deal that they honored so I am very happy with the service that I received along with how nice the people are at this shop! The parking lot is a little weird especially if it's very busy and there is also a lot of traffic on the main road, but other than that, I would definitely return. read more

I went to CRD to try to have my Apple watch series 1 looked over. The touch interface had stopped working. Collin (very helpful) told me they didn't work on that series, and referred me to Florida Pro. Umm... I want to be delicate when I say that my problems were both solved, and not solved at FL Pro. I got my watch back, with the interface working. I had been told I'd have to restore the software to possibly get the problem to go away. The watch was working again, but the software hadn't been wiped. There was also now a dead spot in the LCD in the top right, but nothing terrible. I was happy it was working. The same day when I used the card payment machine at Autozone, the entire face flopped off like an accordion. FL Pro tried to explain away the problem by saying the battery had swollen and pushed the face off. They also couldn't explain how they had restored the functionality of the watch without resetting the software. Long story long, I went back and Collin helped me. He said that the battery had not, in fact, swollen, and was kind enough to use some kind of glue to keep the face of my watch on. Like I said, FL Pro fixed my watch... sort of... The dead spot is slowly growing, so I guess I've learned my lesson in going to any place other than CRD!! read more

I dropped off a hard drive. that I needed to boot from. I told the young man working there that I could read the drive and all files seemed to be intact, that it probably was an operating system issue. It was an older drive so of course, a newer computer wouldn't work (at least with my skill set). So the instructions were to try and find something that it would boot from. The guy (who apparently doesn't know the difference between a byte and a bite) calls me back 2 weeks later and says (the files are intact but i think the operating system is bad) and charges me 40 bucks for the pleasure. Save your money, save your time!! I brought my laptop to this place from seeing all the 5 star reviews. The laptop had black screen and wouldn't turn on. They told me it would need a new motherboard so they had to order a new one. I waited several weeks for it to come in and get replaced. After spending hundreds of dollars and weeks waiting for it to get replaced the first time, I picked it up and found out days later that it was still experiencing issues. The keyboard wasn't put back properly, the sticker was left on leaving an ugly film behind, and now the laptop randomly shuts down. The keyboard was supposed to be set back in the laptop and was not. I'm experiencing more problems now with it than I did before I brought it in the first time. Now, I have to send my laptop to the manufacturer and pay more fees because they didn't fix my laptop after spending hundreds of dollars getting it fixed for weeks. Don't waste your time with this company, send your laptop to the manufacturer and save yourself the headaches I went through. read more

This has to be the most incompetent computer repair place ever. They've had my laptop for over 2 weeks and twice cited an incorrect part for the delay. The communication is poor on top of that. They obviously have no idea what they are doing. I would avoid this place at all cost. I would like to add an addendum. I took my computer to be repaired by another reputable place successfully in under an hour. They asked if it had been opened before. I said no, and they said it's strange because someone broke the wifi cable. I admitted I had taken it to Computer Doctors at that point. He said they not only couldn't repair my computer, but broke it trying to replace the screen unsuccessfully twice. I think this place should be closed down. They are a fraud. read more

No different than Geek Squad. They're more interested in profiting off of you than helping you repair your computer. We had an issue with them contracting you into paying full price for repairs before a diagnosis. More specifically, they make you sign a contract agreeing to pay for repairs before they look at your computer. They went ahead and did things to the computer without getting explicit permission by phone or email when we specifically asked them NOT to touch anything on the computer. We only wanted a diagnosis. When contacting them through email or phone they were unresponsive. We were lucky that the cost expected exceeded the contracted estimate or we would have been forced to pay without speaking with someone about it first. In our case, they were going to use refurbished parts and charge us full price. Total rip off. We ended up fixing the problem ourself and it was much cheaper. I suggest doing the same. I had three broken iPhones, two with broken screens, one with a broken charging port. I went in late on a weekday afternoon and was thrilled with my experience. I checked in on yelp and intended to use the $5 off discount offered, but the friendly girl at the counter said that they may give me a better discount since I had multiple devices. She brought back a manager and he offered me a "manager discount". I ended up paying $175 for all three - I sort of expected to pay over $200. Not only was the price a pleasant surprise, they had it done before they closed at 6p the same day! They had a couple of people working in the back, so it looks like they can handle quick turn around. They also have a Keurig coffee maker and free wifi with a couch, chairs and coffee table. I received an e-mail when the iPhones were ready to pickup - that was nice (you can choose your communication preferences when you drop off your items). The customer service was outstanding - I was so impressed and pleased with my service that I've been telling everyone to go there. I just logged into my yelp app to send my friend a link with details and saw they have a $35 voucher for $15 (save $20) and bought the deal for her to have her iPad repaired... then I started reading the reviews. I must say the reviews surprised me, because this was not my experience at all. I have an iPad with a broken screen, iPod touch with a broken power button and another iPhone with a broken screen... I COULD fix them myself with parts from eBay or Amazon... but I'll never do it, that's why I like this place. The cost wasn't over the top. I know what parts cost because I've bought them myself, I know how to fix iPhones and how difficult it is to keep track of the teeny screws, but I don't have the luxury of spending my time doing these projects. Tips for anyone repairing or having an iPhone or iPad device repaired. Take it in with a full charge so it can be tested when complete. A screen replacement requires everything to be unplugged from the mother board to get to the screen. The tech will hopefully test your touch screen and buttons after, but you should check the touch screen and all buttons before you leave, so you don't have to come back if it isn't right. These are small parts and our fingers are huge in comparison, we are all human, we all fat finger it sometimes. -------------- Update. Came back with a 1st Gen iPad and an iPhone 3GS and my Yelp Deal, they called later and said they couldn't fix them b/c nobody knew how to fix the iPad (just a broken screen, I even brought the parts in with me), and they couldn't find a power button for the iPhone 3GS (I found them on Amazon and eBay). Don't buy a Yelp or groupon deal until after they have fixed your device and you have verified the device is working. My friend had new damage (during repairs) to her iPad that prevented it from turning on after they replaced the screen. She paid $35 extra to prioritize her repair and it was not ready when promised. When it was ready it didn't turn on (new damage, not battery). The reviews of this establishment are all over the place because the service is inconsistent. I spoke with the owner at length about the iPad mishap, he was kind, he listened, but he was vague and made comments like "I'll try" (lacked commitment). When you own a business you make decisions that are best for your bottom line. In this business customer service is key. If you don't make things right for your customer, you put your reputation at risk. It took over a month for them to obtain repairs on iPad motherboard. This isn't acceptable, and I've learned that I much rather send my devices to apple for repair - they would never break something and try to skirt responsibility. You get what you pay for. On December 13, 2013 I sent a request for a quote to repair the power button on my iPhone 4s to the CRD website (http://computerrepairdoctor.com/). According to some research I did on my own (and from what the tech told me in the office), these wear out after some time and as I've had the phone nearly 2 years, it is reasonable that it would need to be fixed. My call was after hours on a Friday so I wasn't sure when I would receive a response. The next day, Saturday December 14, 2013 around 3:30pm, I received my quote which was a reasonable amount given the age and wear of the phone. On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, I brought my iPhone into the CRD office on E. Tennessee St. across from Leon High for the repair. They fixed the phone in less time than the time promised and charged me $10 less than the original quote. (Yay!) Also, there is a 30 day warranty on any work completed by them. This was an excellent and unexpected surprise. (Double YAY!!!) I tested the phone to make sure the power button worked and paid the tech for the work. My phone was nearly dead when I got home so I plugged it in and didn't check it for a while. After a couple hours or so, I went back to my phone to check my email and Facebook (big surprise right?). Here's the thing. In my haste and delight that my phone now had an on/off function, I didn't check to see that I could, in fact, USE the phone. I tried to unlock the screen and "all of a sudden" most of the 'buttons' didn't work. The numbers needed to unlock the phone were completely non-operational. Once I calmed down and had dinner, I powered up my laptop to email CRD to tell them my problem. I (kindly but firmly) let them know that I would be dropping by at lunchtime to have them take another look as this was a new problem since taking the phone to them. This morning, December 19, 2013, I received a phone call (which I could have answered had I been able to at the time), a voice mail, and an email (neither of which I could have accessed from my phone due to the problem) from the owner, Matt, explaining that it was unlikely that the power button and the touch screen issues were related but that they were happy to take a look at the phone again. I was impressed by the effort to contact me but was a bit dismayed at what I perceived to be an unsatisfactory solution. My perception of the email (the only form of communication I had at the time) was that because they were unrelated, this touch screen issue would not be covered under the warranty. When lunchtime rolled around, I hurried over to CRD to drop off my phone. They had me wait about 5 minutes so they could take a look and give me at least some indication of what was wrong before I left my phone with them a 2nd time. After a few minutes, the Matt came out and explained that the touch screen was going bad which was causing my new issue. I told him I wanted them to fix it and he said they would and that it would in fact be under the warranty even though he didn't believe the two were related. At this point, I am ecstatic because I was worried that I would be stuck paying for a new screen as well as a power button! I thanked him and ran out the door to get back to work. A couple hours later, I was notified via email that my phone was ready for pick up. After work I headed over to the shop. My phone was ready and I didn't have to pay the additional fee to have the touchscreen replaced. Any problems in the future with my iPhone or iPad, I will be taking them to the Computer Repair Doctors. The only reason I'm giving them a 4 out of 5, rather than a full 5, is that I had to take my phone in more than once. Something had to have happened to cause the touchscreen to go bad during the power button replacement which is the reason for the -1 for their rating. These guys get a 5 of 5 for customer service! If Yelp would categorize their ratings, it would be easier to rate these guys accurately. read more

Last night, I dropped my iPhone face down from my couch and the front shattered. I started researching spare parts online and the apple store. The apple store was ridiculously overpriced and I was hesitant about doing the work on my own. It was just a screen replacement so they estimated about 30 minutes and we sat down and waited. The waiting room had windows that open up to the repair area so I could see that they were working on it and ensured that they weren't goofing around with my phone. They took a bit longer (20 extra min), but when they were done, it came back looking great! They have a 10% student discount and they have some Yelp deal (that I didn't know about). Their prices are less than half of the apple store and I got the work done in under an hour and while I saw my phone being handled. No complaints here. read more

I called around for estimates and settled on CRD who's estimate was $225-$275 for a new laptop screen. I took my son's laptop in the next day and went through the check in process. I left his Acer with 1080 Hd monitor gaming laptop with them and received a message 45 minutes later saying work was completed. I returned a few days later to pick it up, I was not in any hurry. When I got home my boyfriend tested the resolution, at which point he discovered it was showing 760. He called them and they insisted it was a settings issue. He explained he is well versed with this issue and it most certainly was not the case. They invited him back in for a review of the work. He took my sons laptop back and they conceded that it was in fact a basic(760) monitor they replaced my 1080HD monitor with. They were willing to correct the issue but needed to order the correct monitor because they didn't have any in stock! I finally got it corrected this week after they received the appropriate equipment but my concern is that this is a practice. Ryan never told me they didn't have the correct monitor In stock and his manager was very passive. Simply put, I took a V6 engine in and left with a 4 cylinder and feel like they took advantage of my naivety. I would challenge each of their previous clients to check the specs on their repaired equipment to ensure the quality you were promised. Slade was instrumental in getting the issue resolved and for that I'm thankful but I feel scammed the rest of the way. read more

After driving all over town, trying Best buy, Office Depot, Batteries Plus, and 2 other computer repair stores, this one had the part that we needed (a laptop charger that actually fits our computer). On top of that they were very friendly and willing to look through all of their chargers to try to find one that fit correctly and worked when plugged in. Customer service was great from the moment I walked through the door and the repair itself was started almost immediately. Their little lounge area is nice if you intend to stay there and wait. They tried to fix the phone over the next three days, calling me in four times to see if it finally worked before they gave up. Twice. My laptop has been their twice. Still not fixed. They gave it to me the second time still not turning on after they told me that the computer was working. My laptop still will not turn on. I'm 95% sure it's an overheating issue. They said it was a virus and that the computer was working fine. Would be $100 to remove the virus. COMPUTER STILL DOSENT WORK. On the second try at the store it took two days to get my laptop back and ten minutes of sitting there to get them to finally give my laptop back. Always and excuse!! This place is clueless! Rude! This place is a new in Tally, but I decided to give them a try when the power button broke on my laptop. I wasn't expecting much (getting my laptop fixed in the past was never a pleasant experience), but this shop really went above and beyond for me. I'm in law school, so having a working, reliable laptop is essential. Here's my experience: When I brought the laptop in, the only person I had to speak with was the owner -- Matt. Matt knew his stuff and was able to show me exactly what the problem was right there in the store. I left the computer with him to give them time to write up an estimate, and I had it via text within the hour. (That's something else that's cool that they do -- they send you text messages letting you know when the computer's ready and stuff like that, which I prefer to phone calls or e-mail.) The price was VERY reasonable, especially considering the hardware work I had to have done. The computer was fixed and ready to pick up in just a couple of days, which was way faster than I was expecting. Now, if that's where it had ended, it would have already been the best experience I'd had in Tally with a repair shop. But almost a month after I got it back, the computer started having this weird problem where it would just shut down randomly. It would just turn off with no warning. Like I said, I'm a law student. That's the worst problem I could have had with the only computer I had for school. I had no idea what was wrong with it, so I brought it back to Matt. He and his team diagnosed and fixed it THAT NIGHT. I was back in business the very next day. They also found some viruses hidden in my software and took care of them. And they did it all at no charge... because Matt remembered from our conversations that my budget was tight. If that's not personal service, I don't know what is. These guys are solid. It took two weeks to finally get my computer back, which was a major struggle with all the work I have to do. However, when I got it back, my Enter and Shift key were not working, which they previously were before I brought it in originally... I brought it back and told them what had happened and they said I would have to pay another $200 to get a keyboard replacement when they were the ones who messed it up in the first place! The LiIon battery was swelling, perhaps from the drop. They sold me a replacement for a third of the cost, as the phone was open. They sell Cobra cases for 40 per cent off. They wanted to charge me 100+ dollars to unplug the battery from my "mother board." Went to IDOPE and they fixed it for way cheaper, and actually OPENED my laptop. The guy at IDope said they did not open the laptop (was dusty and untouched.) speaking of Idope they fixed all my problems for reasonable priced and they are very knowledgeable about products, and actually try and help you understand then problems with your devices. They don't work on laptops but go in and ask for Richard he will help you with your Macbook! They have had my iPad for 14 days for a cracked screen and say it will take "2-5 more days" to return it to me.
