The epic Saga of dealing with Conwave oops Comwave. The scenario "I am a 83 year old living on a fixed pension income; rent,food increasing I saw the advert on TV for Comwave to save. I had a Bundle with Bell, Phone, TV and Internet, So I thought I would save a few bucks and decided to transfer. I did not have a problem with Bell's Service. On or around SEPTEMBER 8th I asked CONWAVE to transfer my telephone and Internet Service from BELL to COMWAVE. I now supposedly have TV Service with BELL and Iternet and Telephone Service with Comwave. But first to do this Comwave sent me a package which included a Modem and an Adapter and instruction pamphets delivered by the courier LOOMUS( on record), Within twenty minutes of opening the package I noticed the Adapter(plastic approximatelty the size of two decks of playing cards ) had a three centimetre crack across the top and some scuff marks Iwithin twenty (20) minutes of receiving the package I telephoned Comwave (on record)and explained the damage to them and that I would attempt to use the Adapter; but I would like Comwave to know the condition in which I received it. The Agent said it MUST WORK OUR "ENGNEERS" check them. At this stage the customer has to act as the Comwave Service Person and do the connection to make the transfer. To connect the transfer there is three wires for POWER, TELEPHONE and MODERM simple easy to do and easy to follow the instruction pamphlet. Hook up DONE nothing happened, I followed the instructions to RESET namely disconnect connections wait a few minutes and reconnect. NOTHING HAPPENED, I telephone Comwave and talked to an agent, his explanationI would was NO different than wa on the instruction pamphlet, I said I would try once more which I did NOTHING WAS HAPPENNING, to today I cannot remember wether I had spoken to two or three agents I was getting frustrated at the stage but finally got one more agent who seemed to have a little more savvey WE, HIM and I spent 0ne and one half hours (!. 1/2)on the telephone (on record) trying to resolved the problem with the peice of JUNK some incompetent Comwave "engineer" sent me. Finally He decided it WAS BROKEN, damaged useless and that I should return it to Comwave and they would send me another Adapter which they did an I CONNECTED IT IN 15 MINUTES and IT WORKED. In the meantime I received and e-mail with an address to send it to and a RA number (Return Authorisation) which did by placing the Adapter in the package it came in; with the RA number on a peice of paper inside and Printed on the outside of the package in clear view, I drove to Canada Post and sent it COD which cost me $17.90 cents IF DELIVERED Canada Post would re-emburse me the $17.90 Fine I thought a few days later I received a note in my Mail Box that there was a package to be picked up second time I drove to the Post Office to my supprise COMWAVE did not accept the package and returned it to me collect ($17.50 ?) Fortunately the lady in the Post Ofice was on my side she said " THEY can't do that to you" (me) and she tore off the label and asked me to "look after it" and the lady sent the package back. Again I thought that was the end of the fracus, but a few days later I receivrd another note in my Mail Box saying there was a package at t he Post Office so for the THIRD TIME I drove to the Post Office and low and behold Comwave had returned the package AGAIN. The same post Office lady said this is RIDICULUS and put another label on and sent off she said " if they don't accept it this time WE will drive out there and deliver it in person". NOT ONCE DID I HANDLE OR TOUCH THE PACKAGE SINCE I INITIALLY MAILED IT. Finally it was accepted, meantime during this debacle I had telephoned and e-mailed on many occasions regarding the package (on record). You might think that was all of Comwave incompetance and arrogance BUT NO on one particular day I lost my Television and my Telephone Service for two (2) full days (on record) again Comwave incompetance. what was VERY SERIOUS in this situation I lost the 911 emergency service which put MY LIFE in jeoperdy. I have serious health conditions as recent January 14 I had called 911 and went by ambulance to St. Josephs Hospital (on record). I survived if I had not got the 911 Service I would not be here today MUCH thanks to the quick action of the PARAMEDICS and the 911 Service employee. NOW YOU THINK THAT MUST BE OVER. During these incidences I had sent e-mails and telephoned on MANY occasions with the problems o one occasion I was so dissappionted, frustrated and discusted with the entire shambles I got hold of a manager called DEREK and told him of all he problems and that he would re-emburse me the $17.90 COD charges and told him to cancell my service with Comwave he said "you have a contract if you cancel we will charge you $400.00) He never cancelled the service he never re-enbursed the $17/90. Do NOT believe one word of their many, many, many advertisements. (Their celebrity shill should punch himself and the president of this company instead of Pa Rogers and Ma Bell They managed the near impossible for companies who take too much of my money every month--they made them look good in comparison.) Duplicitous ads that they in no way, shape or form live up to. 2.S--L--O--W Internet, nowhere near as "fast" as they claimed (only a SNAIL would consider it high-speed!) 3. Unreliable home phone--you can hear someone they line, they can't hear you; reverse and repeat (Problem ironically highlighted on a call from their own customer service!) 4. Customer service that should be called customer PURGATORY, since it takes hours on hold and days playing phone-tag to get a hold of these people to fix issues that crop up EVERY STEP OF THE WAY 5. equipment that isn't mailed in time for installation (So it's DYI install at all way from a booklet that doesn't match box--and the video on Ytube is just the same! They should pay me for all the crawling around on the floor, and head scratching, and HOURS on my old land-line which, thank GOD, was still open) 6. Installation that you MUST be home for or they charge you, when their installation guy says, oh, he doesn't need to come to your home at all since you already have Rogers, whose lines they use (ANOTHER DAY NEEDLESSLY WASTED) 7. And don't get me started on what I think of a company that has a BOGUS survey to win "FREE" Caribbean vacation for a "NOMINAL" fee on the phone number specifically dedicated to account cancellation, which just hangs up on you when you try to decline and press 0 for a customer service rep to END THIS NIGHTMARE. (So excuse me if I rushed out to protect my financial information at the bank from a company I no longer trusted with the same; no way was I about to let this company reach its hand into my pocket on my way out, if, I God forbid, pressed any number that let them change this "NOMINAL BOGUS" fee for a vacation I totally didn't ask for or need or want) 8. Or the customer service reps who just don't want to listen to you when you do FINALLY get a hold of someone who can give the return authorization you need to return their equipment. (You have to BEG and THREATEN them with the BBB and the CRATC to finally, finally, FINALLY give you the information you need) 9. Or the capper to this whole miserable, exhausting, time and money wasting experience. Their 30-day FREE Trail Period? The joke's on anyone who believes this total and utter lie(oh. it's in the fine print that it's going to cost you. And if I could afford that luxury, a new pair of glasses, maybe I could have actually been able to read it, instead of trusting a company that puts all it's money, YOUR money into ads, and not the service they promise) Total cost to me of two days of miserable service and four test calls:$65 (including S&H back to them at my expense--and it probably would have been more if I hadn't paid for a signature on the mailed box from what other people have posted). I really believed Comwave would behave in the Canadian way, I guessed wrong. They behave in an abhorrent manner. Demanded I do things their way or I could cancel but would have to pay a penalty fee. For what? Shoddy service and misrepresentations. On top of it all no mention of their mistakes just mine, no credit for time suspended I may be old but I am not stupid. I posted the portion below first and then all hell broke out Comwave went nuts. It seems passing strange to me that the spokes person for ComWave, Tie Domi, opens his sales pitch by saying 'are you tired of being pushed around by big cable and or phone companies'? Well that got my attention so I took a chance and switched from Rogers to Comwave. I was happy with ComWave for a period of time until they started bullying worse than Rogers or Bell had ever behaved. I missed a payment on their newly hiked charges so my services were suspended by ComWave. I immediately went to my bank and paid what I thought was the new amount to be. I paid $92.00 for that current month for my landline and internet. Horror of horrors I was out by $3.35 cents. After I called ComWave the suspension was lifted for six hours but because it was the Labour Day long weekend the account was once again suspended for a balance of ........ wait for it ..........$3.35 cents. Oh, did I mention I'm a 74 year old widower living alone, not a lot of concern here by ComWave. I then receive a call on my cell phone leaving a message that if I do not correct these arrears immediately I will not only have my services suspended they will be canceled all together. Then horror of horrors the ComWave representative says 'I will have to pay an additional $95.35 re-connect fee plus that month's fees ($190.70 in total) or if I want I could cancel my account with ComWave for $100.00 or there about. Who is shoving the little guy around now? ComWave that's who. 74 years old, a pensioner, a widower who is ill; being threatened, coerced seems a bit high handed to me. Finally what about the two weeks in total that I've already being suspended does that now count? Will ComWave be refunding a pro rated portion to me even the free phone service for six months was bogus. It took two weeks and two technicians to get my phone working, not with my original phone number which I've had for twenty plus years BUT with a new number, just ridiculous then to suspend my account because I owe $3.35cents. I am disappointed with the customer service I have received from Comwave. It is disgusting. I ordered the 3 bundle promotional pack from them on July 7th. I was advised delivery and installation would be done by July 14th. On July 13th I received a text message and an email with very confusing message that set me into panic mode. I called the number given - it rang and no one picked up my call nor did anyone bother to call me back after listening to the numerous messages I left I went online and looked for their so called help menu and couldn't find anything close to my problem. I tried the following day and on Tuesday when I realized no one was coming through with my delivery I caught a cab to their offices. Of course the office was closed but it doesn't say anything to that effect on their website. Yes I know we are in a pandemic but there are some businesses functioning and if their doors are closed they do get back to their clients telephonically or via email. Day 4 of my drama someone calls me. He listens to my story and says he is sending my package through and that he can see that my connection is up and running from the "exchange unit". Day 5 and 6 I wait all day for the delivery only to be told late noon day 6 that my parcel couldn't be delivered because no such address exists. I will not comment on that part cause this whole scenario has left a very sour taste. I rush to pick up my box and arrive home on day 6, try to install and nothing comes up. Spent close to 4 hours that evening trying to get a connection. Day 7 now I wake up to work solely on getting help from Comwave technicians eventually someone calls me in the afternoon. We go through the drill of testing and he is baffled and says he is going to escalate the case and a technican will come back to me. I wait all afternoon no call till about 6pm when someone calls and says oh someone will call on you tomorrow between 8 and 10. Waited all morning till about 1pm when a technician came in and he says there is nothing wrong with the exchange but the modem is faulty. This has been the most exhausting exercise ever and it has cost me a job and a graduation ceremony. If you can Run! Please Run when you even hear Comwave. With all that advertising of big company's pushing you. I was with Rogers and Bell before. And it wasn't good. But this one. Let me tell you. First. They use Bell. It's third party reseller. So when you call they know sh... (nothing) All issues are resolved throw Bell including your install. Talking about misleading advertisement. You will spend countless hours on the phone if something will go wrong. As I did. First it started in beginning of August. I didn't have proper service for phone or internet. And I have old mother who stays at home and heavily relay on phone service. I even have to get mobile phone. Because my home phone doesn't work. Every time you call them for service you have to be near their equipment. But because Bell have to call you back if they escalate issue. It doesn't work. Then if you lucky and technician is coming. I had to take day off. Nobody came. I call. And ticket was closed. They told me to start again. Took me another 3 days to get technician. Another day of work. He didn't fix it. And third one and fourth one. At that point I was done. I called and cancelled service. I was assured no cancelation fees. I want to transfer my number and New company charge me for transfer. and Comwave Tooooo. Believe it or not. $50 bucks for porting my number. Highway robbery. And I had to wait while number was in transfer and still pay for services. An extra month. But today I got a bill for $226 bucks. Guess for what. For early cancelation!!! I was with them more than 3 years. More than their term. I checked email. Yes in March I got email with 6 month free of home service. $19.99. In big letters taking 90% of email. I subscribed to Comwave in January 2017, my service was ok at best. My kids have complained for 3 years about the quality of the internet service, slow and spotty. The TV package was ok, until it wasn't. I suddenly didn't have features anymore that I had when I signed up. When I called customer service I was told that they just don't have them now and that was it. In March 2020 they called me to ask if I wanted to renew the contract because it was up, I said no and cancelled the service. Since then I have had two phone calls were the reps have told me I owe cancellation fees. The first rep said $160, then said $200 and by the end of the conversation she changed it to $360. I hung up on her as she was yelling at me and completely rude. The second rep called me and told me I owe $400, I was flabbergasted and asked for paperwork and a copy of my contract, she said no and I should check the website for terms and conditions. I told her I wasn't interested in the website, I wanted my contract and the charges explained to me, she like the other rep, yelled at me and kept telling me no. I found an email that they had sent me that stated my contract started Jan 2, 2017 so I sent it to them and asked them how I had cancelled early when 3 years have clearly passed which is the contract length. To this I have had no response but today I received and invoice for $452 Let me also mention that as it was billed directly from my credit card, they charged me for 4 days of March service and said I am not entitled for the remaining 27 days credit to the 'final bill'. My Comwave nightmare started when I signed up in April 2013. When I gave them my credit card number to enroll they charged it three times for $70.06 and I had to argue to get them to reverse two of the charges. I also had to pay for two installation charges because I wasn't here when they came the first time yet I called them to postpone the installation. WHAT COMPANY DOES THIS??!! I was not notified of any 3 year contract at any time. I was willing to overlook these things understanding my monthly bill was only going to be $56.44 per month. The problem was the service they provided was sub-standard. Phone conversations would cut off, people on the other end would not be able to hear me, and it was like talking through a tin can. But most importantly their phone service was not available 100% of the time. due to the inadequate service they provided, because of this I missed calls from my son's school and, my mother who is 90. I emailed them through their customer contact us page with these concerns but had no reply. I cancelled in November 2014. They have sent MetCredit after me to collect for some reason. Certainly they can't expect more money for service that was sub-par, and mostly not available when I needed it. Hello , I signed up for comwave global phone. On the comwave website you can see unlimited calling to 60 countries. But actually you can call some limited calls. One of my friends start using it and he was charges about 200 Dollars (one month). I was also charged for the trial month although I did not use their service often. The comwave is a scam company. The best way if they treat you badly or they send you wrong bill, their habit and they do so intentionally, the best way to drag them to court. One of my friend has the same issue with the Bell and he got 9000 dollars in the court. The way these service providers send the unfair bills to collection agencies we being a customer have an option to knock at the door of court. Amazingly I was promised that they will give me my trial charges and almost 20 days has being passed. I got nothing till now. They also charged me 50 dollars and they did not tell me. Due to comwave I changed the credit card number. Now they send me email every day that my credit card has been declined. They have the system to send automatic emails but we do not such kind of system. Long story short do not sign any agreement in writing or on the phone. I have bee Comwave customer for 10 years and 3 months as we speak. Yes years ago, Comwave customer service was so slow when it comes to responding calls; it used to take 45 minutes to 1 hour for them to pick up the phone; as years go by and technology is upgrading, Comwave customer service drastically improved! i was amazed! so, to make the story short,,, i had an awesome experience in their technical department as well as their billing department. On August 14, 2020, Comwave associate named Andrew, gave me 6 months free for being loyal! Yes, 6 months free! Every time i call, in less than 10 minutes, either Louis,George, Marcy, Diego, Jonathan, Natalia and way back in 2014 it was Peter Valenzuela who did helped me set up Comwave communication service; then their were Javier, Mike Vidal, Sarah, Jason, Edward, Mariana and more staff; what i am trying to say is,.. Comwave thrive to make their customers happy and to give their customers the best they can do. Long distance service was fine but once I signed up for their home phone service, there was nothing but trouble as the phone shut down multiple times on a daily basis. Their tech people seemed helpful but could not address the problem. It may have been the unit that attached to the modem (it was filthy and clearly used when it arrived) but they would not change it and it seemed that no one you could speak with was even authorized to grant an exchange. After 2 frustrating months, we were forced to cancel and then the situation got worse. Even though they had given us a 3 month risk free trial, they went ahead and processed a cancellation charge in excess of $1200. After many phone calls and emails, it has still proved impossible to speak with anyone with any authority to reverse the cancellation. I even had to send them a copy of their email to me offering the 3 month trial. Unless you are a wealthy masochist, steer clear of Comwave. They have the lowest rating possible from the BBB and even that may not be low enough - they need to institute a special Comwave rating. read more

I have been with Comwave for three years. During that time I have switched service plans a few times. There have been problems with loss of service a few times. In our case most of the issues were because the type of service I lately negotiated is out of the ordinary. The software and modem need to align just so. The problems were solved. In one case someone worked for many hours right into the wee hours. I know that because I could saw the phone and internet then the T.V. coming on and off until each was perfect. I noticed this at 3 am. So someone was asked to stay on my account until it was solved. In the morning all worked well. There are positive things to say. The technical support is out of this world polite. And patient. I realize that technology is not a magic wand affair. So one has to expect time to fix issues. What I don't like are the add on expenses that seem to be a way to augment the bottom line. Through contact, one develops a sense of trust or distrust with an organization. Worst costumer service ever: After 5+ years being a customer with two home phone lines, I no longer had a need for them and decided to call the customer care center to cancel the service. Here is my experience: 45 minutes on hold to talk to a representative, which put me on hold again as only a supervisor can cancel services. After another 45 minutes got a hold of the supervisor who spend over 20 minutes trying to convince me to not cancel. Again, after numerous explanations that I simply had no longer a need for the service, kept saying that he can give me discounts, help him transfer the services to someone else and completely ignored my pleas for a need to wrap up as I had other commitments. At the end I was told that I had to ship the VOIP devices (and made sure that I had a tracking number) or I would be charged $95 / per device. After so many years the devices are worthless and I would hope I could simply discard them, but alas, I have to pay shipping fees and return them! Will never consider their services again. read more

Do not even consider Comwave. After numerous issues, including three sets of equipment and many calls to their tech support, billing, and complaints people, I finally gave up on them ever helping us or providing a refund. I had to file a complaint with details of the interactions with my credit card company to get my money back and prevent them from charging my card ever again, even after returning all of the equipment. After doing that, they finally called me to try to convince me to pay the bill that was charged back by my credit card company. This is the best customer service I ever received from them - at least they called me! I cannot say any of their staff ever outright lied to me, but nothing was ever delivered in fully working condition, despite weeks of interactions, including the direct support telephone number that was disconnected three days after the sales call concluded. I moved to a rural location December 2017. Internet is hard to get out here and I was relatively happy with Comwave until trying to cancel a $7/month home phone I'd had for 3+ years resulted in a downgrade from a 5-star review. I asked about cancellation fees prior to stpooing the servioce and was told there would be NO EXTRA FEES as I'd been with them more than the required time-frame. Great news! Then on my next bill they hit me up for an extra $200 plus the cost of shipping back the old hub and an additional "re-stocking" fee. They did admit that the agent made an error and eventually refunded $100. This "We made an error, you will pay for it" policy prompted me to also cancel my internet and this, in turn, revealed another misleading advertising tactic. Be advised that you will likely NOT get "three months free at the end of the service". I gave them written and verbal notice well in advance and they charged me full price anyway. shysters... stay clear.. took advantage of an 88yr old... he purchased their services to try and save money especially thru these times...was not user friendly for him... sent everything back with the hollow promise of returning his money.. never happened but they did however take $700 from his CC .. when they were setting up the account they had no problems with family members helping as he does not understand technology and is very hard of hearing.. when it came time to find out why they took money out on a closed account we were told sorry we can only talk to the account holder.. it's our policy.. REALLY ?!!! Is it your policy to take money from a closed account without permission! I would give COMWAVE a ZERO!!! but that was not an option! PLEASE DO YOURSELF a favour DO NOT sign up with COMWAVE!!! From TERRIBLE customer SERVICE to QUALITY ( phone call...you sound like you are under water and internet service is always down ). You'll spend hours on the phone with them trying to troubleshoot or resolve any issues! Be CAREFUL to what you sign up for because the cost to cancel EACH service is $200 + tax! That's robbery and COMWAVE should not be in business. But from the start to cancel my services I was told $300 + tax by customer service, transferred to stupidvisor $200+tax and lastly the manager $400+tax!!! I HATE that I behave to give this company a star to be able to post. This is HANDS DOWN, THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!! They not only provide a terrible product, but their business practices are horrific! Their customer service is not only useless, but they are trained to deflect blame and spin everything to absolve themselves of any responsibility. Our internet has gone down several times and they always find a way to blame us for their deficiencies. The most recent one was on Christmas Eve when the woman on the phone said "well I don't know what the problem is. You will need to call us another time when the problem is actively happening". They will sign you to a 3 year contract whenever you need to change anything, including any service they need to provide. They are highway robbers unlike the regular highway robbers (Roger's and Bell) they don't even offer a decent product. Stay away from these con-artists at all costs! read more
