I thought my only option for relief was surgery of which I had heard dire results. I read about decompression therapy and was relieved to see that there was an alternative to surgery. The doctor's at Maine Spine & Nerve took a thorough physical and oral examination including x-rays. The diagnosis indicated that I was a candidate for decompression therapy. At no time did they guarantee a cure, but given my condition, they had seen others with similar injuries who had relief and returned to normal daily activities after decompression therapy. They did indicate verbally and in writing that I was also responsible for working within their care guidelines in order to maximize the recovery efforts. Today, I am out of pain, able to sit comfortably, returning to a light exercise routine, and starting physical therapy. In closing, I am so thankful that I went this route instead of surgery. He did spinal injections which did not last more than a month. after NSSD the tingling and pain in his right leg and thigh is gone and has been gone for at least six months. He can do things now that he was unable to perform last spring. I have multiple problems. My first concern was neuropathy and I sought relief through Maine Spine & Nerve. From the get-go, Dr. Vander Ploeg informed me that he could help but because I'd suffered for so many years with this condition, I could expect only partial relief. He said a 40-50% reduction in symptoms and I feel that I achieved at least 60% if not more relief. I also suffer from back pain. I have been referred to orthopedic physicians for injections and physical therapists for physical therapy. I went to an acupuncturist. Nothing helped. Because of the success my husband has experienced, I know that Maine Spine & Nerve will be able to reduce my current pain. Further, some insurances do cover the cost of these treatments. Unfortunately, ours was not one of them. Would I recommend Maine Spine & Nerve to any of my friends? You bet! I already have. I got there at 8:20 and they saw me immediately. I was tested, treated and sent home with a diagnosis in about 30-45 minutes. They even sent an electronic prescription to the local CVS for me, as it turns out I had bronchitis. Everyone at AFC Urgent Care was friendly, polite and professional.

Disorganized, rude staff, and zero continuity of care. I have been a patient at InterMed in…read morePortland for years, but the quality of service has rapidly degraded from bad to completely unacceptable. It has become virtually impossible to actually see my primary care physician. Instead, I am constantly passed off to an RN or pushed toward outside referrals because the doctor seems uninterested in actually managing my care or following up on existing conditions. The scheduling system is a disaster. My GP is consistently "booked out" for six months. To make matters worse, InterMed has cancelled my annual physical twice now because the GP took vacation, yet they refuse to prioritize rescheduling me with my actual doctor. When I called to fix this, the booking receptionist named Sara was incredibly condescending and unnecessarily rude, telling me they would "try to squeeze me in" for my annual health checkup. Getting "squeezed in" for foundational, routine preventative care is entirely unacceptable. When you finally do see a doctor, the experience is cold. My GP has absolutely no bedside manner, shows zero initiative in following up on my chronic condition, and just tries to pass me off to specialists as quickly as possible. The administration is toxic, the communication is nonexistent, and the patient care is deeply flawed. I no longer trust this facility with my health and will be looking for a new GP for me and my family.
