I'm going to rate this on two things...one as a salon as a whole and two as my stylist on her own. As a salon this salon is clean, well ventilated, and we are always greeted upon arrival. All of the employees are friendly. The music played is current and appropriate without being too loud to discourage pleasant conversation. All supplies such as towels are always clean. As for my hair stylist, Kori, she has been cutting my family's hair for many years and she's been cutting and coloring my hair for several years. She always does a wonderful job and gets it right every time. We have followed her from a chain to now her own chair here. I have recommended Kori to many of my mom friends for their kids as Kori is so great with kids. I will continue to recommend her time and time again! read more

Went here for a gel manicure with Rosa. I sat down for my gel manicure. Rosa starts to remove my gel polish, then what seems to be her regular customer comes in and sits across from us - I assume I got double booked because Rosa starts to rush and seems nervous. Very quickly, my gel manicure turns into a polish change. Rosa removes my polish, puts new polish on, and says shes finished and requests $40. She did not do any kind of manicure; all she did was a basic polish change. She requested $40 for this polish change. Here are the prices on her desk: Gel manicure $35+ Spa manicure $40+ I told her I did not receive a manicure and explained that she did not push back, cut my cuticles, buff my nails or do anything other than change the polish. Her response, "You didn't need your cuticles cut and you received a manicure." I asked her how much she charges for a polish change, and she repeated to me that I got a manicure. I told her I would pay for a polish change but not a manicure because I didn't receive a manicure. I explained how a manicure involves nipping and cutting cuticles at minimum and she once again stated that I didn't need my cuticles cut, so she didn't do it. We went back and forth repeating ourselves until I finally asked for a manager, then she said there is no manager to speak to. I once again asked how much a polish change is and she snarled at me that I don't have to pay anything and can leave. So I left. I get my nails done on a regular basis and know the difference between a manicure and a polish change. Apparently, this manicurist does not. I wouldn't recommend this place because of Rosa. I hope she doesn't rip off other people charging $40 for a simple polish change and calling it a manicure. read more

I recently moved to Bakersfield. I have moved 3 times in the last 3 years and have always found a great hairdresser but not this time. I went to this salon based on previous reviews. I had an appointment with kandace who is very young and only been working for 2 years. I should have gone with my instincts and not let her cut my hair. My hair is thin and naturally curly. She basically cut my hair like a child's haircut she did not style my hair like I am used of. She also cut it way to short like i told her nit too. If I wanted a hair cut I would have went to cost cutters or one of those chains. Sorry Kandace but I am not happy. Thank god I on,y had a cut and not a highlight. :-( read more

I don't live in Bakersfield anymore but I used to go to Jenny and wish she had moved with me! She is super friendly and sweet and listens to exactly what you're looking for. I saw her once to touch up my base blonde with some lighter highlights and it looked better than it ever had (just in time to get my college graduation photos taken!), then a few months later I randomly decided to ditch my natural blonde and go dark for the first time in my LIFE and the first couple of times (when I had other people do it) it had turned out this awful reddish color. I explained to her the shade I wanted and she did a fabulous job. I've had countless people tell me it looks more natural on me than my natural hair color! I always like the compliments, so I thought Jenny deserved them too! She also charges an incredibly fair price, so even better! If you've been looking around Bakersfield trying out countless mediocre salons, you definitely owe it to yourself to check out Concept Elite...and I recommend asking for Jenny! read more

I've never left dissatisfied. There is also a wide selection of high quality products to purchase which they guarantee if you are unhappy with the results. Kandace does my hair and she does a great job! She is super sweet, and she takes her time. She is young and drama free!! Not one of those bratty hair dressers who come to work in a bad mood. She has fixed and colored my hair with extensions and they turned out great. Since then, I have cut my hair short and she did an awesome job cutting and styling me a "lob." I came here on Saturday to have my hair done because it was the soonest appointment I could get anywhere. Norma did my hair. She was a very easy person to talk to and I enjoyed her company, however I would never recommend her to anybody. My appointment was at 3 and she didn't start on my hair until 4, then she didn't finish until almost 8 pm! She curled my hair and told me she would fix a "few small things" on Friday. As you can see in the pictures I've posted, these are major problems that I didn't notice through the curls. I'm gonna have to wear my hair up until I can get an appointment with a recommended stylist and ask for my money back. read more

When I walked into the salon it was very nice and well kept . I was so excited to get my hair done and it was also my first time there . Never again . It was disappointing the way I was treated there. I didn't even want to get my hair done anymore because I was so uncomfortable . Just a tip to anyone if you're going to be in the front desk , don't be rude to your customers that's how you lose business. I've been going to Ashlee for my hair for the last two years, and I would never want to go anywhere else! She is a really fun, easy going person who communicates very well and will work very hard to get things exactly how I want them. Only once has my color not turned out the way I wanted it to, and since I had extra time, she fixed it for me for no extra charge because it just wasn't what I wanted. I have had some less than favorable experiences with people here, but not with Ashlee. I like the atmosphere of this salon, being that it's comfortable and not stuffy like some other one's I've been to, and most of the staff is very present and makes you feel welcomed. read more

Got a full set done by Olga I think her name was. Older Mexican lady. Before I came in a talked to her over the phone about what I wanted, red acrylic, and she assured me she could do it. I get there and all she has is pink and white acrylic and she had no idea what "rock star" nails meant. She went around to other nail techs to see if she could borrow some of their colored powder but none of them would let her. Wound up just getting a clear overlay with red polish over it. Looked like crap. She also started performing a manicure on me that I never even asked for. read more

Too bad I have to put at least one star. I would put -100! I had been calling and no one would answer. Finally, one day I was able to speak to Kandace, a hairstylist there. I repeated the appointment date and time to make sure I had it right. I had bought two Groupon deals. One for my mother and one for me. When I get there she comes out and with an attitude says "your appointment was at 12, not 1! I am with a client right now and I have someone else coming in at 2! You have to wait till next Tuesday." I was in shock! I said "ok no you said thursday at 1 and I specifically said I couldn't come in next Tuesday because I will be out of the country!" I had left, but then went back and asked how was I going to get refunded for the deal. The receptionist was nice and went to ask her. Kandace then told her I had to talk to the people from Groupon even though she is the one who has the deal on there! Totally unprofessional and rude! That's not a way to build a business. I will never step foot in this salon again. Last Thursday I had a cut & color with Maggie. I had a 1:00 appointment. She texted me a little earlier and said she was running late and asked if I could make it at 2:00. I had scheduled my whole day around this appointment, but I agreed to 2:00. I did not actually sit down in her chair until 2:20. My hair has always been blonde and just needed some gray covered. By the time she was finished I had 2 major gray portions of hair on both sides of my head. I was not happy with either the cut or the color, so she asked if I could come back the following week for her to "fix it". I went back the following Monday morning at 10:00. She told me she just wanted to add some lowlights. When I left more than 2 hours and 40 minutes later, all of my hair was mud brown. Every single hair on my head. I had to come home and order a wig! I don't know who the owner of this salon is but it really appears she does not vet her employees and accepts every color blind incompetent person off the street. There is nothing they could ever do to want me make to go back to this place. Stay away from Maggie and Concept Elite. read more
